Arise in Faith | James 1:2-4 | Manningham Christian Centre
Trials aren't here to break you β they're here to reveal you. In this message from James 1:2-4, we unpack what it really means to "count it all joy" when life gets hard, why testing reveals character rather than creating it, and how patience does its full work in us so we end up lacking nothing.
Three things testing does in you:
πΉ Testing REVEALS what's really there
πΉ Testing REQUIRES you to stay in the fight, not run from it
πΉ Testing REWARDS those who wait
Whatever trial you're walking through right now, this word will encourage you to stop being the thermometer of your circumstances and start being the thermostat.

Most people want to be devoted to God. Very few are willing to do what Mary of Bethany did.
She broke open a jar worth a year's wages and poured it all over Jesus' feet β in public, without explanation, while people around her openly questioned whether she had lost her mind. And Jesus looked at her critics and said: wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told as a memorial to her.
Not Paul's conversion. Not Peter's confession. This woman's act of devotion. Remembered everywhere, forever.
In the final installment of The Devoted Life, we close out eight levels of devotion with the three that most people never reach β not because they aren't available, but because they require something the earlier levels don't:
πΉ Affection β the shift from "I should worship" to "I genuinely want to be near God." Mary sitting at His feet in Luke 10 while Martha performed.
πΉ Surrender β bringing your unmanaged grief, your unanswered prayers, and your quiet accusation of "where were You?" to the feet of Jesus anyway. Mary falling in John 11.
πΉ Abiding β when you've been near Him long enough that devotion stops being an effort and starts being an overflow. Mary pouring everything in John 12 β because the fullness had nowhere else to go.
We also address something that has caused two thousand years of confusion: who exactly is Mary of Bethany, and why has she been misidentified, conflated with Mary Magdalene, and overlooked for so long?
Paul shows us how devotion begins. Peter shows us how devotion forms. Mary shows us what devotion becomes.
This is Part 3 of The Devoted Life β the conclusion of a three-part series on the eight levels of devotion. Watch Parts 1 and 2 on our channel.

Most of us don't struggle to believe in God. We struggle to feel like we're enough for Him.
In this message from The Devoted Life series, we follow the Apostle Peter β the most relatable figure in the entire New Testament β from a fishing boat on the Lake of Gennesaret all the way to a beach breakfast with the risen Jesus. His story is messy, honest, and full of falls. And it's one of the most powerful maps for devoted life the Bible gives us.
Together we trace four of the eight levels of devotion woven through Peter's journey:
πΉ Rhythm β the impulsive, sword-drawing Peter becomes the man who shows up to the temple at the same hour every single day
πΉ Identity β Jesus speaks "rock" over a man who is anything but, before he has earned a single thing
πΉ Integration β faith steps out of the boat and into the storm, learning to stay present with God in ordinary life
πΉ Love β on a beach, over breakfast, Jesus asks the only question that matters: "Do you love Me?"
This is Part 2 of a three-part series. If you missed Part 1 featuring the Apostle Paul, find it on our channel.

In this powerful message, Rod Walsh from Creation Ministries International (CMI) tackles one of the most debated questions in the church today: did God create the earth in six literal days, or over millions of years?
Rod examines the scientific and biblical case for a young earth, unpacking key discrepancies and assumptions behind old-earth dating methods, and shows why the six-day creation account in Genesis holds up to scrutiny.

Are you devoted to God β or just attending?
There's a difference. And most of us know it.
The Devoted Life is a three-part series that traces eight levels of devotion using some of the most powerful stories in the Bible. In Part 1, we open with the Apostle Paul β a man who went from violently hunting down Christians to declaring that his entire former life was worthless compared to knowing Christ.
His story isn't just inspiring. It's a map.
In this message we uncover the first three levels of devotion:
πΉ Awareness β learning to notice a God who is already present
πΉ Desire β trading guilt-driven faith for genuine hunger
πΉ Rhythm β building a life sturdy enough to hold your devotion on the hard days
Wherever you are on this journey β brand new to faith or decades in β this series was made for you.

You believe worship matters. So why is it so hard to fully enter in?
In Part Two of ARISE: The Call to Worship, we get honest about something most of us have never stopped to examine β the conditions we quietly place on God before we'll respond to Him.
If I feel like it. If I like the songs. If I don't look awkward. If God shows up.
Sound familiar? Those aren't just preferences. They're terms. And it's time to drop them.
Paul and Silas were flogged and chained in a prison cell at midnight β and they sang. Not because the conditions were right. Because they knew something about worship that changed everything. This message will show you what they knew.
In this sermon we unpack:
β The difference between a conditional worshipper and a passionate one
β Why your voice in corporate worship is never just about you
β What the throne room of heaven sounds like β and why your voice belongs in that sound
β How Spirit-and-truth worship doesn't just express your faith β it grows it
β The one question that will reframe why you walk through the doors on a Sunday
This isn't about becoming a better singer. It's about becoming a surrendered one.
He is worthy. That's enough. It's time to arise.

What if you were never meant to sit on the sidelines of your own faith?
In Part One of our brand new series ARISE: The Call to Worship, we open in 1 Peter 2 and discover something that changes everything β you are not a spectator. You are a living stone. And the God of the universe has been looking for a home in you.
This message will challenge the way you think about worship, about why you gather, and about what is actually at stake when God's people come together with wholehearted hearts.
Because here's the truth: the life of a church will only rise as high as its worship. And God is not looking for perfect singers β He is looking for surrendered hearts.
In this sermon we unpack:
β Why God has always been searching for a dwelling place on Earth
β The epic biblical journey from Eden to the Church that puts YOU in the story
β Why your worship is never just personal β it is part of something far bigger
β What it means to be built together as a spiritual house for God's presence
Whether you've been in church your whole life or you're just beginning to explore faith, this message will call you higher.

ARISE TO THE WORD | How to Make the Bible Personal β Sam Wishart
The Bible is the most purchased book in history. But for many of us, it can also be the most unopened.
In this message, Sam Wishart unpacks how to move beyond simply reading the Bible and into a place where Scripture comes alive β personally, practically, and powerfully in your everyday life.
Because the Word of God was never meant to sit on a shelf. It was written for you.
In this message we explore:
Whether you're brand new to the Bible or you've been reading it for years, this message will give you a fresh hunger for God's Word and practical steps to make it a daily reality.

ARISE TO PURPOSE | Arise & Shine β Living the Life You Were Made For
You were not made by accident. You were made on purpose, for a purpose.
In this message, we dive into what God says about your life β not what you feel in your hardest season, but what the Creator of the universe declares over you. From Ephesians 2:10 to Isaiah 60:1, the Bible is clear: you are God's masterwork, designed with intention, wired with gifts, and called to shine.
But here's the hard truth β you cannot fulfil your God-given purpose from the sidelines. Too many of us are waiting for the perfect moment, the right season, the ideal circumstances. Meanwhile, the candle God placed inside us is sitting under a basket.
In this message we explore:
Whether you're in a season of doubt, burnout, or simply going through the motions β this message is your invitation to arise.

What if everything we've been calling "ministry strategy" is just love with a plan attached β and we've forgotten which one is supposed to lead?
In this powerful message, Kellie Wishart, CEO of Carenet, challenges us to rethink how we show up in service, in leadership, and in community. Drawing from the heart of Scripture, Kellie reminds us that love isn't a tool we use to accomplish kingdom work β love is the kingdom work.
When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He didn't hand us a framework. He gave us a posture. Love God. Love people. Everything hangs on this.
Whether you're a ministry leader, a volunteer, or simply someone trying to figure out how faith shows up in daily life, this message will stir something in you β and maybe rearrange your priorities in the best possible way.

Carenet exists because love is not a strategy β it's the point.
Before you can step into your purpose β you need to know who is being called to arise.
In this message, we unpack one of the most powerful truths in Scripture: that through faith in Jesus Christ, you have been begotten of God. Not a servant. Not a stranger. A child. An heir. And from that unshakeable identity, you are called to arise into the good works God prepared for you before you drew your first breath.
This sermon covers: β¦ The biblical meaning of begotten β and why your true identity changes everything β¦ Why comfort is often the greatest enemy of a purposeful life (the hard truth nobody wants to hear) β¦ Two anchor truths from Scripture on purpose β and two practical action points to live them out this week β¦ A powerful real-life example from right here in Melbourne, Australia
Key Scriptures: Ephesians 2:10 | John 1:12β13 | 1 John 3:1β2 | Galatians 4:7 | Jeremiah 29:11 | Romans 8:28 | Philippians 2:13 | Micah 6:8
You are not random. You are not accidental. You are God's handiwork β and today, you are invited to live like it.
ARISE TO LOVE | Perfect Love Casts Out Fear β 1 John 4:18-19
Is your relationship with God driven by love β or quietly controlled by fear? Fear that you're not doing enough. Fear that you've fallen too far. Fear that His love is somehow conditional on your performance.
In this message, Ps Matt Wyatt at Manningham Christian Centre unpacks one of the most powerful declarations in all of Scripture: "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear." (1 John 4:18-19)
You'll discover why God is always the initiator and you are the respondent β and why getting that the wrong way around leads to an exhausting, works-based faith that was never meant for you.
Ps Matt also confronts two hard truths that many Christians never face: β¦ Fear disguised as humility β and how it keeps you distant from God β¦ How fear silently poisons the way you love the people around you
This sermon ends on one of the greatest identity declarations in the New Testament β Romans 8:15-17 β and the truth that you did not receive a spirit of bondage to fear, but the Spirit of adoption, by which you cry out: Abba, Father.
You are not a slave trying to earn your place. You are a child who already belongs.
Arise to Love.

But We See Jesus | Perspective and Hope | MCC Morning Service
When you look at the world around you β the wars, the suffering, the unanswered prayers, the injustice β what do you see? It's easy to feel overwhelmed by how broken things look. But Scripture gives us a powerful shift in perspective: "But we see Jesus."
In this message from Hebrews 2:8β9 and 1 Corinthians 15:24β25, we explore the tension between what we know to be true and what we see with our eyes. God has placed all things under Christ's feet β yet not everything looks that way right now. Authentic faith doesn't require us to deny that reality. Instead, it calls us to fix our eyes on the One in whom everything will ultimately be made right.
We look at what it means that Jesus is reigning now β not waiting to become King, but actively working to subdue all opposition to God's purposes. His Kingdom is growing, and we are called to co-labour with Him.
Whether you're carrying anger, doubt, fear, pride, or anxiety β this message is for you. Because when we behold Jesus, everything changes.
π Key Scriptures: Hebrews 2:8β9 | 1 Corinthians 15:24β25 | Psalm 47:8 | Luke 12:32 | John 14:1
We partner with Jesus in the 'now' and place our hope in Him for the 'not yet'. And He is enough.
What if the reason so many of us feel like we're living at a fraction of what God promised is because we've welcomed Jesus as Savior β but quietly kept Him at arm's length as King?
In this message, we unpack the Model Prayer β "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" β and ask the question: can you sincerely pray that prayer if you haven't yet let the King come?
Drawing from the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares in Matthew 13, we look at three powerful truths:
π The King You Get to Choose β The Kingdom promises are real. Healing, peace, provision, purpose. But they belong to sons and daughters of the King. Choosing Jesus as King isn't a burden β it's the most liberating decision you'll ever make.
π± The Soil of Your Soul β You are responsible for what grows in your heart. The enemy doesn't need your cooperation β just your distraction. What are you cultivating?
πΎ Bend Before You Burn β Ripe wheat bows under the weight of its own fruitfulness. Empty tares stand stiff and proud. Fruitfulness produces humility. Are there places in your life where you've refused to bend?
This is a message about surrender β not as defeat, but as the doorway into everything God has already promised you.

In this message, we explore what it means to return to your first love. This Sunday, we were truly blessed to welcome the incredible Dr Allan Meyer to Manningham Christian Centre, as he delivered a powerful and deeply personal message that left hearts stirred and spirits renewed.
Dr Meyer opened up about a defining moment in his own life β a moment where he stood at a crossroads and had to make a deliberate choice about how he was going to live. That pivotal moment, he called his Day of Visitation β the day everything changed.
Drawing from this deeply honest testimony, Dr Meyer reminded us that our lives are a letter, read by those around us β including those who are watching from the margins, the broken, and even those behind prison walls. Whether we realise it or not, the way we live as followers of Christ speaks louder than any sermon, any program, or any outreach effort.
His message was a timely and convicting reminder that Christianity is not just what we say β it's what others see. And the impact of a life genuinely surrendered to God is far more powerful than we could ever imagine.
If you've ever wondered whether your faith makes a difference β this message is for you. π

What if the greatest barrier between you and God was already removed β 2,000 years ago?
In this message, we explore one of the most revolutionary truths in all of Scripture: that through Jesus, ordinary people now have bold, direct, uninhibited access to the very throne room of God. No priest required. No protocol to navigate. No distance to maintain.
Drawing on Hebrews 10:19-22, James 4:7-9, Isaiah 6, and 2 Corinthians 3:18, we unpack what it actually means to draw near β and why doing so changes not just how we pray, but how we worship, how we see ourselves, and how we live.
This isn't about religious performance. It's about Divine Proximity.
π In this message:
Why the tearing of the curtain was the most radical moment in history
What Isaiah's throne room encounter reveals about true worship
How drawing near transforms you from the inside out
Why you are not a wretch β you are an heir

DRAW NEAR TO GOD | A Sermon from James 4:7β10 (NKJV) | Manningham Christian Centre
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." β James 4:8
What does it actually mean to draw near to God? It sounds simple β even romantic. But James, the half-brother of Jesus and one of the early church's most practical voices, makes it clear that drawing near is not passive. It's not a feeling. It's a posture, a pursuit, and a daily decision.
In this message we unpack James 4:7β10 across three powerful movements:
βΆ POINT 1 β Drawing Near Requires Recognizing Who God Is
Before nearness comes submission. Before closeness comes a reckoning with the holiness of God β and the breathtaking reality that this same holy God made a way to bring you close through the cross.
βΆ POINT 2 β Drawing Near Requires Honest Hands and an Undivided Heart
James confronts the "double-minded" believer β the one trying to hold God in one hand and the world in the other. The distance you feel from God isn't because He has moved. It's because you're trying to stand in two places at once.
βΆ POINT 3 β Drawing Near Is an Active, Ongoing Pursuit
James says "draw near" β not "arrive." This is a lifestyle, not a one-time event. Like any relationship that matters, closeness with God grows through consistent, intentional pursuit. And the promise is clear: He will draw near to you.

Are you exhausted from trying to earn God's favor? In this message, we explore The Art of Surrender β a countercultural invitation to stop striving and start resting in the presence of God.
Through three transformative principles, we'll discover what it really looks like to surrender our whole lives to Him:
π Proximity Over Performance β God isn't looking for your best act. He's looking for your nearness. Learn why being with God matters more than doing for God.
π Reverent Honesty β True surrender starts with radical transparency before God. We'll explore how coming to Him with our doubts, fears, and failures is not weakness β it's worship.
π¬ Continual Conversation β Surrender isn't a one-time decision. It's a lifestyle of ongoing dialogue with God, keeping the lines of communication open every single day.

This powerful message on Matthew 18:28-35 exposes how quickly we forget grace and reveals the devastating consequences of unforgiveness: it tortures the one who holds it, keeps others in prison, and blocks God's work in our lives. You'll discover why your unforgiveness hurts YOU more than them, how bitterness binds both the forgiver and the unforgiven, and receive two profound challenges to release those who've wounded you. If you've been holding onto hurt, this message will set you free.
In this powerful two-part sermon series on Matthew 18:21-35, we explore Jesus' parable of the unforgiving servantβa story that reveals the shocking size of our forgiven debt and challenges us to extend the same radical grace we've received. Discover how unforgiveness tortures the one who holds it, restricts what God wants to do in others, and blocks our own prayers. This message will challenge you to identify your "hundred-denarii person" and release them through the fire of forgiveness. If you've ever struggled to forgive someone who hurt you, this sermon will help you see your pain through the lens of God's impossible mercy toward you.

When we are led by Jesus we are able to based on His wonderful mercy toward us. As we walk in mercy we obtain it. We obtain it by recognizing its need and displaying it to others.
If we have been given mercy - we are more likely to offer and display it. We become mobilized mercy missionaries. But it means so much more.
Sam Wishart who is our Music Director at MCC shares a powerful word asking the question "Who Is Jesus?".
When you ask "Who Am I?" then the answer often depends on how you feel or what you are facing. Often the answer to the question depends on who you need to be for others - A mum, father, worker, etc
In this message, Sam Wishart unpacks the truth about who Jesus said that He is.

Have you ever felt like you could raise the dead? The truth in the Word of God says that we as believers through Christ can see the dead raised however what is emotional faith and real faith?
Sometimes we can get caught up in the emotion of something. However, at the same time it is good to be excited... right?

How does a person step into healing? It takes forgiveness, knowing what the bible says, and having faith in Jesus. Listen to Brett Lindner teach how you and I can walk in healing not only for ourselves but also others around us!

Matt teaches that we need to make room for the new! Enjoy!
We are walking self-prophecies, We are living the events of our past and we can be free from both. There are many examples of illness as a result of past events. The truth is, God wants to heal you, it is His desire to see health and life for everyone. It starts with where we place our trust, faith and how we choose to live it. Brett shares the truth about how we can do all of it!
Discipleship never sounds fun and exciting but we love healing and seeing people get healed. The truth is that you really can't sustain one without the other. Serving, being committed, and being submitted are all Kingdom Values that more often than not are key to sustained healing and community transformation.Β
Brett Lindner is someone who understands, lives, and sees this through his own life and not only that, helps others in seeing them healed through the power of God's Word.
Listen now and it will help you!
Have you ever considered that you have not seen things go well for you or as well as you thought? It may be because you carried your past and self-imposed limitations into your future outcomes. The Bible says that we are to Walk Worthy of your calling. In other words - don't live your life based on who you were - live your life based on who Jesus says that you are - Holy, strong, courageous, and inspiring.Β
Ps Matt unpacks this truth - oh and has a great time doing it!
In this current climate, our communities need Jesus. Whilst the bible states that "Nothing is new under the sun" it is very clear that we need a move of God in our neighborhoods, families schools, and workplaces. It really does seem like things are rapidly changing - and it is not necessarily for the better. It is amazing however that there are many places where people are experiencing a massive revival through the incredible moves of God. All of these happenings have one thing in common. HUNGER! It is like there is a prayer going forth saying - "revive me oh Lord"
Ps Matt shares a strong word about the need for revival to begin in our community it must first begin in us!
If "revival" means the improvement in the condition of - then who doesn't want that? Most of any person's struggle is in an area that they are unwilling to yield to God's authority. It is uncomfortable to talk about but it is extremely necessary....
Sometimes we worship because it's what we do on a Sunday, sometimes it's because we love the music. It is important to understand that worship is a lifestyle and comes from a place of rest. Rest is found in worship when we turn our attention to God and worship Him from a place of remembering His works and what He has done.
First thing to mention is that there was a technical glitch in our matrix! The message is low volume to begin with and then is normal however is missing some of the message in the middle. We have no doubt that you will get a lot from the message by our Senior Pastor Matt Wyatt.
Connecting with God is crucial to living large!
Ps Matt speaks a strong word! The Bible states that we are changed from glory to glory with every encounter with His Presence. With every moment that we spend in the presence of God, we become more like Him. As you look back on your life are you now more like Jesus?
It then brings into question - have I paid enough attention to the Lord?
Listen now.....
Have you ever wondered why there are so many spiritual things in the world? everything from demons and creatures in movies through to spiritual encounters in religions, meditation, and drugs. Some would describe these things as all in our mind but those who have experienced encounters can easily ask the question "Is there another dimension?" The answer is YES! God wants to breathe life through His Spirit so that you would be awakened to the love that He has for you.
Listen to this wonderful teaching by Ps Matt WyattΒ - it will help you understand, learn and grow your God-given spirit.
Over time we can all be impacted and shaped by life. It almost seems as though our passion and vision leak. This can even be because of chains that we carry from our past or even recently. Ps Matt shares a powerful message about how God wants to free us from those things.

John the Baptist was called to prepare the way for Jesus, Mary was called to carry Jesus, and we are called to worship and be ready for his coming again! How will you respond to His presence?
Ps Matt shares about Mary's response. There really is something remarkable about Mary! To surrender and Yield not knowing all the information is something that builds and establishes faith in your life. Where is your faith meter reading?
Often we are in one of two circumstances. Either we are in the presence of God in a tangible way or we do not sense His presence. Either way - how we respond should be the same - total surrender to God. Longing for God's presence above anything else can be our life's pursuit.
It's time to reposition our expectations of Jesus and begin to reposition ourselves in response to His desires.
Get ready for something out of the ordinary. Most Podcasters would not put this up as it is deeply personal but also relevant. Ps Matt Wyatt delivers a message in the middle of the service that not only gives great insight into what God is saying to us as a church but also how we are invited to respond.
"If we are not careful we place ourselves, our own desires and our own needs above God Himself. We must not ever do this - and if you are unsure - repent anyway"
It is time that the Church allowed God to direct her. We must keep our focus on the Lord and not only the needs of man.
Listen and respond prayerfully.
Almost every circumstance is able to draw us closer to God. However, there is a key ingredient that is needed - SURRENDER - Use this key to flavor your life and progressively grow in God.Β
Most people think that if they surrender to God then they lose everything. After all, Jesus did command us to "Take up your Cross". Don't get me wrong - there is always a price to be paid. The truth is that price, this surrender positions you to gain everything and more...... Find out now!

Here are a few questions that help you move from a mentality that "things happen to you" rather than a growth mindset that "you are able". Jesus never wants us to live like tumbleweeds being blown around. Jesus longs for us to realize that He is growing us through opportunities. Sometimes these opportunities look like challenges. Ps Matt takes some teaching from Graeme Cooke and applies this to Part two of "I Am Not a Victim"
Ps Julie Harrison delivers a powerful message around how forgiveness sets us free and activates Kingdom principles. This positions us in a place of freedom and empowerment.
Ps Rose Lord takes things to a whole new level with this message. It is time to walk in the truth that to gain everything that heaven has for you, requires an all-in approach, what you get is far more than what you give!
We are all a victim of something. However, we don't need to live like that something is always owning us. You can be free from the event, the person, or the history of what happened. This world is filled with the voices of people who have created a narrative where being a victim is who they are. God has given each of us a responsibility AND the power to be healed and not stay a victim and therefore stay controlled by circumstances.
Ps Matt Wyatt delivers a powerful message with a difference....
Ps Matt finishes the series on 1 John 3-4. The truth that we as children of God are presented as Jesus is presented before Father God is incredible. However, we often live our life here on earth subject to sin and we don't need to. That is why Jesus came, to set us completely free so that we are presented as a spotless bride before God. Find out now what that means and how you can be a part of it.
How we treat others is often a reflection of how we see ourselves. What if you could see yourself the way God sees you? Would you treat others differently? Ps Matt talks further about this.
