Theresa Merritt-Watson is a well known organizer, teacher, and volunteer in the Chapel Hill area of North Carolina. She has organized college fair bus trips for prospective college students for many years and she has been very involved in her church and its outreach activities. Theresa has written two books – Guide for Teenage Parents and Black Tech – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrowand she has led numerous seminars and tutorials for non-profit groups and charities. Additionally, Theresa has served as a Board Member for the Chapel Hill, NC Board of Adjustment, served as a Board Member for the Chapel Hill, NC Sustainability Task Force Committee, been a candidate for the Chapel Hill – Carrboro, NC City School Board, served a Board Member for the Carrboro, NC Planning Board, served as a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and served as a Board Member for Habitat for Humanity. Theresa has six great adult children and is a native of North Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Shaw University, a Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Arizona, a Master in Education degree from Temple University and is currently a doctoral student at Temple University.

There is a journey that we have all been on from the moment we a removed from the womb. The journey is a continuance of the journey our ancestors were on. It’s still going. He is said to be one of the best point guards in Canadian Senior Men’s National Team history, Granger represented Canada at the 1982 and 1990 FIBA World Championship for Men. Granger made history as the first Black Canadian to be drafted into the NBA when the Cleveland Cavaliers selected him 24th overall in the 1983 NBA Draft. In three seasons in the NBA, Granger appeared in 80 games for the Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.Prior to the NBA, Granger spent four years at the University of Villanova University where he played 125 games for the Wildcats and was an All-Big East Second team selection in back-to-back seasons.That’s a lot for me to digest. Hence, the reason why he is joining us to share his story. It is an honor to have him with us. Now let’s get to learning what 60/60 is all about.

Benjamin Franklin said if you fail to plan. You are planning to fail. Hans Ramsey is a man with a plan. He has approached his life calculating the outcome before any move is made. Native of the Bronx he has leaned on his natural leadership skills to move his life forward. A leader listens to wise counsel and follows through with plans as they are created. He played the game of football with the goal of becoming a pro. He began playing with the co-op city league which set him on that path. Although his high school had no football program. When it came time for college he followed through with an introduction and found his way to Morgan State University. As a Morgan State football player his leadership skills enabled him to help his team to the 1979 MEAC collegiate championship. This made this dream of becoming a pro player more clear. That ability to plan, his confidence in his ability as a player and leadership skills allowed him to press forward and approach the NFL as a free agent in the draft. His calculated plan got him signed in 1983 right after the draft by the NY Jets. Something that rarely happens. But injury prevented him from continuing his career and he had to create a plan to move forward from bus driver, mentor, to investment advisor, and senior regional leader at one of the largest investment organizations in the country. The unchanging face – and voice – of singer/songwriter Cassandra Lucas is back on the music scene in 2017, gifting listeners with three new hit singles, paving the way for her solo debut CD. Growing up in Newark, NJ Cher Ameer Akbar was always fascinated with food and cooking. I look at the music we love and enjoy like a quilt. It is made up of many pieces that are part of an item worn in the past that has been remade to create more memories. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 24 million children in America - 1-3 live in biological father-absent homes. Nine in ten Americans agree this is a crisis. Due to the "father factor", affecting most of the social issues in America today-from police brutality, to youth delinquency and academic failures-breakdowns in the system have become all too prevalent. This underscores the fact that children with involved fathers do better across every statistic on child well-being than their peers in father-absent homes. A stable at-home dad was something yearned for by author/advocate Vincent Ellis White when he was a kid. Taking a leap of faith Conley began his professional career when he moved to Los Angeles with David Townsend. It was there he joined the group Port Authority in 1976. After an un-released record with 20th Century Records Conley left the group to join Mandrill in 1977. In 1978 he made his television debut with Mandrill performing on the popular show Soul Train hosted by Don Cornelius. Conley released only one album with Mandrill, New Worlds, in 1979. Conley left the group and after a short hiatus Townsend and Conley collaborated on the beginnings Surface.

Let your ears hear what your eyes can't see. Hit hip-hop lyricist K.Y.D. Works believes in second chances. K.Y.D ("Killing Your Demographic"), whose real name is Hassan Barrow, hails from the Bronx, NY and relocated to Westchester County when he was six years old. He started rapping when he turned 14 and battled other rappers who were older than him. He was a talented teen on his way, But things began to get bumpy for the artist when he found himself in the correctional system at age 16. He spent three years incarcerated, which took him off the grid for a while.
However, his period of incarceration afforded him ample time to regroup. An introspective person, he believes that everything happens for a reason. And unlike so many others, he followed through with his exit plan, which included others that had experienced some of the same downhill moments of life. K.Y.D. Works and his associates and childhood friends Steven Alfano and Vincent Hanemann, created "Don't Shoot." As childhood friends they have had a real meaningful relationship that has allowed it to stand the test of time.

(There is a war on our shores! And the enemy is not some dark, sinister foreign entity - it's homegrown, right here in our midst. The Black youth violence crisis is alarming, fueled by the enemies of peace and tranquility -- ignorance and apathy. We must declare war, and fight vigorously to rescue our Black youth from extinction. RETV, a popular YouTube channel headed by LaMar Stephens of New Jersey-based Rap Entertainment, Inc., is creating a three-part docu-series entitled "Cities In Crisis," which will examine the problem under a microscope, laying out both the problems and the solutions, featuring celebrities such as rappers T.I., Common, Ice Cube and Talib Kweli, along with educators, actors and community activists, who all drop their own brands of knowledge and wisdom regarding the Black youth violence crisis...because after all, if it "takes a village" to raise a child, it will most certainly "take a village" to save him/her.
In conjunction with the docu-series, RETV is sponsoring a Peace March and Mini-Concert, scheduled for Sunday, October 26 in Jersey City, NJ's Greenville section. Jersey City has been one of the battlegrounds of this war, and peace warriors there are supporting the RETV effort by hosting this event, designed to

Hinton Battle is an American actor, dancer, singer and dance instructor. He has won three Tony Awards, all in the caegory of Featured Actor in a Musical. He was the first to portray the Scarecrow in the stage version of The Wiz (a role asssumed by Michael Jackson in the 1978 film adaptation).
On December 2013 Hinton released the cd Hinton Battle meets the Count Basie Orchestra produced by legendary jazz producer "88"; which is now available on iTunes and in Tower Records. Mr. Battle will be performing June 3, 2014 at 54 Below in New York City for the release of his 2nd jazz cd produced by the great jazz drummer Lee Pearson,"Hinton Battle Something New.

Taboo...Yardies is a film that chronicles the anti-homosexual climate in Jamaica. This documentary is a searing, at times poignant depiction of the many perspectives surrounding the topic of intolerance and violence towards same gender loving (SGL) lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender living in Jamaica. Taboo...Yardies give voice to those Jamaicans who are pro, con and everwhere in between this highly controversal matter. Selena Blake producer and director has made some inroads in her mission to share her film and the stories of Jamaican people who have long suffer from brutal treatment by their follow countrymen and a political system that offers little protection.
Joining her will be Drew Angel a hip hop/dancehall recording artist/songwriter uses his muisc to be the voice for a community that has been silenced for too long. Drew Angel believes there's something that needs to be done to bring awareness to the discriminatory practices in Jamaica and the world at large where LGBT people are being subjected to inhumane treatment daily.
