We made it to the mid season finale y'all! So excited to visit Georgia Brown's with a real life Southern Belle! Georgia Brown opened its restaurant doors 30 years ago and since then has continued to pay homage to the rich history and diversity of Southern cuisince. Our guest today is Tiffany Ferrette a public policy and education professional working and living in the Washington, DC metro area. Outside of her work fighting for racial justice, Tiffany loves to travel the world, write, and of course enjoy great food!

What's that? You want something a little non traditional this week? Well you've come to the right place. This week we're heading to Ambar DC to explore the rich, savory food of the Balkan Peninsula by trying a little bit of everything. I love an unlimited brunch menu. I'm also joined by Alexandria "Guz" Guzman, a passionate civil and human rights advocate in the District, who is sharing her non traditional career path with us. Prior to public service she worked in outreach for power-based violence in a university setting and non-profit operations while simultaneously working in the District's upscale hospitality scene.

In her free time, you can catch her spending time outside, convincing other women to weight lift, trying out new recipes, or yelling about how capitalism sucks. Tara loves food, and recognizes the unique role food plays in bridging cultures & bringing people together. You made it to Crazy Aunt Helen’s! Love that for you! This week we're talking all things joy, love, and Black liberation. I get to share in this conversation with the brilliant Ama Akoto. Ama is a Black feminist writer and storyteller, hailing from Washington, D.C., who hopes to curate safe havens for Black people impacted by trans/misogynoir to explore their relationships to personhood, freedom, and the erotic. On any given day, you’re likely to find her cuddling with her pets, playing The Sims 4, or reading a Black [erotic] romance.

On this week's episode we're heading to Due South for a taste of Southern Hospitality and I am joined by Adria Peterkin and Alexa White. Adria is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who maintains a multidisciplinary vision for research. She is a passionate advocate for the Just Transition and intends to use her formal training to actively inform and resolve issues of environmental injustice that impact local communities. Alexa is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan whose research focuses on biophysical indicators of sustainable agriculture and international climate governance. She works on environmental justice and sustainable development issues across the science and technology policy landscape. Together they co-founded the AYA Research Institute, a science based organization that conducts environmental justice public policy research to fill the current gaps in our knowledge and address past, present, and future environmental atrocities. AYA prioritizes using community-driven data and rigorous impact analysis.

This week I'm heading to KitchenCray, which brings modern takes on traditional cuisines from the South and Caribbean. For this week's episode we're joined by Nelia Dashiell a marketing professional and digital content creator from the DMV area. In 2015, Nelia created her YouTube Channel "NeliaBedilia" to help educate and give inspiration and tips on growing beautiful, healthy natural hair. Since then, NeliaBedilia has over a million views and has become the go-to source for natural hair protective styles and even fitness.

We're heading to Michele’s, where the menu is inspired by the flavors of Houston and New Orleans, which means I now have to put a trip to Houston on my list to get the full picture. This week I am joined by the ever talented Alexa Patrick, a vocalist and poet from Connecticut. Alexa holds fellowships from Cave Canem, Obsidian, The Watering Hole, and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. She has held various teaching positions and is currently the Programs Director for non-profit writing program and publishing house Shout Mouse Press. You may find her work in publications including The Rumpus, CRWN Magazine, and The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 2: Black Girl Magic. Her debut collection Remedies for Disappearing will be published by Haymarket Books in 2023.

I am joined by María Fernanda (she/her), a poet whose work explores the intimacy of sisterhood and, “the breaking and making of family.” (Madenga).
