This special release feature’s compositions created by Soul Surplus’ own 42*North, the brother production duo who had a hand in starting the company. Mirage consists of ten melodic loops full of vintage musical movements, spacious droning elements along with that good o’l warm and gritty tape texture. Everything from floating electric piano accents, moving bass lines and majestic synth patches give producers endless options for chopping and flipping.

What is summer without a few good cookouts? Our most fond memories of this season take place in the backyard, in the park, or at the block party. There is no better way to spend a summer day than with the sun blazing down on your skin, a red solo cup in one hand, and friends and family to your left and right.
Our latest sample collection titled The Cookout features a slew of vintage analog synthesizers and keyboards (including a newly acquired 1977 Hohner Pianet T) recorded through tube preamplifiers to call on the nostalgic sound of our favorite cookout anthems.
In episode 4, John Smythe discusses utilizing a different technique in the creation of this new sample pack, and showcasing a brand new instrument.
Just over a year ago, in late May, we dropped the Summer Nights Volume 1 Composition Pack. A sample pack tailor-made for the summer, featuring our good friend, and world renowned horn player and music director, Chris Stevens.
In episode 3, we go back and revisit the classic sample pack, and learn about some of the process that went into creating it. Chris also shares some news on who he's currently working with, the manufacturer he prefers, and what we can expect from him in the future.
Following the wildly popular "Lo-FI Keys Volume 1", Soul Surplus presents the highly anticipated 2nd version in this series: "Lo-Fi Keys Volume 2". Much like Volume 1, this new loop pack features a myriad of keyboards loops from grand and stand-up pianos, Fender Rhodes, and synths. With 50+ loops to choose from, we're sure this new loop pack will be sure to satisfy all your emo tendencies.
