Enjoy this encore episodes of one of my post popular episodes! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been having a little anxiety thinking about summer coming to an end and winter will be upon us. I guess I’m still having flashbacks of what we went through last winter and I’m refusing to live through another winter like that. This got me thinking about how I’m going to spend my time over the winter and about hobbies.

Hobbies are good for humanity, but they really don’t really get enough credit for all the benefits they bring! Most of us don’t spend much or any time on hobbies at all, but hobbies shouldn’t be overlooked. I think it’s something everyone should revisit for their own well-being. Hobbies bring a lot of benefits to our lives, especially when things are in chaos.

By the end of this episode, you’ll be able to look at hobbies in a whole new way. You’ll learn how hobbies benefit your physical, emotional and mental health. And you’ll also learn some unique ideas for hobbies that just may surprise you. If you’re burnt out, tired of living every day as groundhog day, a new hobby just might snap you out of that mode and help you rediscover what makes you happy again.

Links mentioned in this week’s show include: 6 Reasons To Get A Hobby, Hobby Study, 97 Unique Hobbies, & Skillpop.

This is an encore episode of one of my most popular episodes and one you definitely won’t want to miss!!

“You are an infinite being with infinite potential. All you need to do is open yourself to a new consciousness, a true vision of who you really are and awaken to the power within”. What if we all believed that? My guest this week is Gerry Hussey, author of the book Awaken Your Power Within: Let Go of Fear, Discover Your Infinite Potential and Become Your True Self.

Gerry first thought about committing suicide around the age of 11 and he spent years going to doctors only to find nothing was physically wrong with him. One doctor even told him it was all in his head and he was just making excuses not to go to school! Even though doctors couldn’t physically find anything wrong, Gerry knew something wasn’t right with the amount of fear and anxiety he was living with everyday. This book is an amazing story of relentless pursuit to move out of fear and anxiety and into the life we are all meant to live. Each chapter has practical exercises and questions you can use on your own journey.

Gerry and I cover so many things in this interview from the familiar fear and anxiety we all face to consciousness, the brain, your mind and the observer part of ourselves and how each part is separate to make up the whole. Gerry’s insight gave me a whole new way to view how our thoughts feed our brain (not our mind – our brain) and how much control we really do have over what goes on inside our head. I said at the beginning of this interview that this book has all the right questions in it that you need to ask yourself to move into a different way of living. Gerry is an amazing human and his book is a must have for everyone on the journey of self-discovery.

You can watch the interview with Gerry here:

About Gerry Hussey: Gerry Hussey is a performance psychologist who has been working in the fields of health and performance for almost twenty years. He is the co-founder of Soul Space, an empowering movement that focuses on integrative mind, body and soul programs, speaking engagements and events.

Where has our motivation gone? Many of us feel like we’re going through the motions, as workers, partners, parents and citizens. We feel unhappy with the organizations we are part of and alienated from the society in which we live. But life doesn’t have to be this way.

Sharath Jeevan joins the podcast today to talk about motivation. Sharath is the author of “Intrinsic: A Manifesto to Reignite Your Inner Drive”. In Intrinsic, Sharath Jeevan OBE applies the concepts of Purpose, Autonomy and Mastery to help us find motivation in every aspect of our lives. Harnessing ground-breaking research from psychology and economics to philosophy and behavioural science, he gives us practical answers to achieving more lasting fulfillment in our careers, relationships and as citizens.

Abigail Olson’s life seemed to be falling apart. She was going through a tough time after her potential career and relationship fell through, on the exact same day (!), so she took a break from it all and started reading a lot. That down time led her to a book “Why Does He Do That” by Lundy Bancroft which helped her to realize some of the things she was experiencing in her relationship wasn’t the best thing for her. Abigail began writing down her painful moments to help sort out her feelings about her relationship and career path, which eventually led to her book “The Hay-Wagon”.

“The Hay-Wagon” is a young woman’s memoir about getting her CDL and going through her first serious relationship. It is a Next Generation Indie Book Award finalist in the Women’s Issues

(Non-Fiction) and Short Story Collections categories. The book was included on the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools’ 2020-2021 Books of Interest list for grades 9-12.

In this interview, Abigail and I discuss the success of her book, what she learned in the process and what life looks like going forward. We talk about giving yourself permission to find a way to empower yourself, even if it’s unconventional, about perseverance, and the importance of going after what is calling you in life.

You can watch the interview with Abigail here:

This is an encore episode of a previously popular episode. What is synchronicity and how does it show up in our lives? This week my guest is Etan Ilfeld, the creator of The Synchronicity Oracle Deck. Etan and I have a lively & fun discussion about really understanding what synchronicity is and how we can use it to our advantage to tap into our unconscious mind. We touch on why it can be so hard for us to tune in and what gets in the way of us hearing our inner most desires.

Etan and I also talk about how to use synchronicity and symbols in our own lives to guide us, the right and better way to ask questions of the oracle and we even touch on physics and time travel! We had a lot of fun with this episode and Etan even does a live reading for me which really demonstrates the power of using the Synchronicity Oracle deck to tell a story. If you’ve ever worked with or been interested in oracle decks (or even if you haven’t) you will love this episode! Watch the episode with Etan here:

More about Etan Ilfield: Etan Ilfeld is the author of Duchamp Versus Einstein and Beyond Contemporary Art, and the creator of the Synchronicity Oracle. He holds a physics degree from Stanford University, is a US chess master and the owner of Watkins Books, London’s oldest Mind Body and Spirit bookshop. He also hosts the Etan Ilfeld Podcast. You can connect with Etan at his website and find him on Twitter and Instagram @Knightleap. You can also purchase the Synchronicity Oracle Deck here.

In this week’s episode, Sloane suggests you challenge your beliefs and what you think you know to be true. This has been coming up for her a lot lately in really simple ways (like having to wash her hair every day, really?) and while those kinds of truth may seem minor, they do mean something.
