As someone who was raised muslim in the housing projects of East Harlem, my story shows how you can overcome so much stigma and still surround yourself with love from family. The savage murder of Islan Nettles outside a Harlem Police Precinct occurred several months ago but the case still remains "unsolved" or is it? The Truth of the matter is The Police Had a Suspect who they pulled off Islan after he Savagely Beat her and knocked her unconscience. The lack of DNA collection, lack of working cameras (10 of them), corrupted eyewitnesses and just lack of cultural and gender competencies led them to a Weak Ass Misdemeanor charge against Paris Wilson. To this day he has yet to be held accountable for his deplorable actions that day. What does this say about Trans Lives?
