My mommy, mama bella comes on the show to discuss her experience navigating the world as a black parent with a child who happens to be trans. We often hear the narrative that black families are not as supportive to their LGBT children, specifically Trans kids and that is simply not true. As someone who was raised muslim in the housing projects of East Harlem, my story shows how you can overcome so much stigma and still surround yourself with love from family. The road was not easy at all and we talk about some of that today and my mom will give advice to other parents who may or have gone through what she has. Join us! xoxo

What Does being a Supportive Ally Look Like???

To be a Good Ally is more than just talk its your ACTIONS. Many of us in the community have seen folks quick to call themselves allies but also quick to see these same folk use derogatory words or transphobic language to describe our vast experiences and stories.  There seems to be a lack of cultural and gender competencies when it comes to allies specifically CIS “Hetero”  and CIS "LGB" identified Allies. What are some of the basic tenets that make a good ally?? What do we as a Trans/GNC community want from our allies? What are some poor examples of being an ally? Join Award winning Blogger and Activist Monica Roberts and WehappyTrans.com Founder and Trans 100 Co-Creator Jen Richards for a discussion on this most pertinent topic and remember please call in with your questions or comments.......

The savage murder of Islan Nettles outside a Harlem Police Precinct occurred several months ago but the case still remains "unsolved" or is it? The Truth of the matter is The Police Had a Suspect who they pulled off Islan after he Savagely Beat her and knocked her unconscience. The lack of DNA collection, lack of working cameras (10 of them), corrupted eyewitnesses and just lack of cultural and gender competencies led them to a Weak Ass Misdemeanor charge against Paris Wilson. To this day he has yet to be held accountable for his deplorable actions that day. What does this say about Trans Lives? We clearly Dont matter to Society or those who have sworn oathes to protect us. This case is a Game Changer We must ACT now! Anyone of my Trans Sisters could have been Islan!
