Head Start is a biweekly news podcast hosted by Erin Slowey, editor-in-chief of The Daily Gamecock, and Ward Jolles, news director at WUSC-FM and SGTV, all of which are student-run media organizations at the University of South Carolina. The show tackles the biggest news topics in South Carolina, but focuses on the local angle with interviews and personal accounts from UofSC students, faculty and staff members.
Episode 2: Diversity and Discrimination On this episode of Head Start, Ward and Erin talk to two UofSC students about recent university decisions and how one student is making light of COVID-19. Xavier Peguese talks about his reaction to the university’s decision to implement a diversity module for incoming freshmen, and Will Hollerung talks about starting his own business with COVID-themed merchandise.
