This is Nerds United, the show hosted by a guy who likes a good beer or two while talking about some of his favorite characters and some really talented people. Make sure you leave a review after you subscribe.
Nerds United’s first episode was released on June 10, 2013. It featured Van Jensen and told his story from small-town Nebraska the Green Lantern Corps title for DC Comics. Check it out here: https://jitterymonkey.com/nu1/
The show has had several iterations and featured so many talented people. But at some point, the conversation shifted. It took five years for the show to get to its 100th episode. Mike had his first appearance in May of 2018 in episode 95 to discuss Avengers: Infinity War.
Mike would stay on, under the moniker of “Co-Host of the Year.” And with a reliable co-host, the content would amplify. If it took five years to get to the 100-episode milestone, it would take only six more years for the other 300.
But the time has come to say goodbye.
On this final episode, we will get current on any recent comic book acquisitions, and strongly urge you to support your local brick and mortar comic book shop.
We will get caught up on anything we’ve seen recently. And let’s face it – there’s so much to see.
We will share memories. We will laugh. We will drink.
We will say goodbye.
Until then, and after this episode, always remember to Be Kind.

This week on Nerds United…Greg and Mike get caught up on a month’s worth of information!
What? No, we wouldn’t do that to you. We’d be here for hours. And neither of us have the energy for that.
But we will catch you up on some happenings, like Greg going to see Captain America: Brave New World, the released He-Man tease showing the Sword of Power, two trips to the comic shop, and Cobra Kai.
Also, did Greg make a deal with Mike to convince the Co-Host of the Year to watch Venom: The Last Dance? And if he did, what was the price he had to pay?
What’s Mike been up to in the last month and what does the future hold for Nerds United?

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike are back in the new year and are ready to…oh wait, they’ve been snowed in this week. That means that Greg’s kids have been to school exactly one day in the last three weeks. But what that allowed was for a lot of comic book reading by Greg. He even watched a movie he probably should not have, in retrospect.Hopefully you all had a great first week of 2025 and are ready to hang out with us. We look forward to sharing some fun stories and news and notes. We’re getting closer to Nolan sharing his Dungeons & Dragons expertise with us. Maybe next week. Maybe tonight. Good evening, Nerdy Nimrods! Tonight, Nerds United with Greg and Mike is back LIVE in front of a studio audience (you know who you are, and apparently we were missed Friday night).
With a new year upon us, what comic book adaptations are coming to a big or small screen and how excited are the guys for suck shows like Peacemaker, Marvel Zombies, and a host of others?
Did the guys get in any nerdy content over the holidays or were they inundated with Christmas classics?
In Mike’s break in school, did he have a chance to read anything? Did Greg FINALLY finish Injustice Vol. 2?
We’ll recap holiday happenings and the joy and awe on the faces of children.
We’ll look ahead to an exciting 2025 that already has a lot of moving parts in the works.

This week on Nerds United, we’re going to check in on the Co-Host of the Year and see just how good he is.
Mike’s pretty much in the driver’s seat tonight because Greg didn’t accomplish much this past week. We’re going to learn about the concert Mike went to. We’re going to hear about some Christmas light displays that Mike enjoyed this past week.
We’ll talk about some Christmas movies and maybe even some stuff like comic books, movies, and tv.

This week on Nerds United, there will be more discussion about Cobra Kai since Greg had a chance to finally watch it.
It’s Mike’s birthday today and the big studios felt that it was time to give Mike some solid gifts. First this week, Mike (and the world) received Star Wars Skeleton Crew. Then on Friday, Warner Bros., via DC and the MAX streaming app, gave us (and Mike too) the first two episodes of Creature Commandoes.
We celebrate Mike, and discuss some of our favorite Greg and Mike moments, like Mike’s first appearance on the show.
And Mike chose tonight’s pick ’em, so we are doing comic book covers.

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg are returning to the early stages of both the podcast and their nerdy fandom with an episode that is focusing on the original medium for the characters we love so much.
COMIC BOOKS!

This week, it’s more nostalgia as the second volume of the last season of Cobra Kai was released last week. Mike will tell us what he thought about it, as as usual Greg hasn’t seen it yet.
Mike has trivia for Greg and Greg doesn’t know what to expect.
And while last week we covered 1980s cartoons, this week we jettison into the 1990s. What are some of your favorite cartoons from the 90s? Do you think they’ll make the list?

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg stay on track by talking about comics, like new acquisitions and what we’ve read in the past week.
Deadpool & Wolverine hit Disney+ this week. Did you give it a rewatch?
And what’s been going on in your life?
But the emphasis on this week’s show will be nostalgia. Cartoons from the 1980s. How does that work? They had to air at some point in the 80s. We’ll spend a fair amount of time on that arena.

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike are back after a week off. What has transpired in the last couple of weeks? Have the guys read anything good in the last couple weeks? Have they seen anything worth sharing?
Agatha All Along ended, as did Only Murders in the Building. What other shows should the guys be watching?
Squid Game Season 2 drops at the end of the year. Marvel gave us their streaming release schedule for next year and we have a trailer for Daredevil: Born Again. And we’re going to get more of Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji world.

This week on the show, we’re talking about any acquisitions or anything we’ve read in the past week. We’ll give an Agatha All Along update.
Old Man Logan was a beloved out-of-canon comic arc that told a great futuristic story. Now Marvel is giving another character the grizzled veteran treatment.
Harold and the Purple Crayon reportedly got turned down to be picked up by a notable streaming service. But it’s headed to a streaming service near you anyway.
The Spider Noir project is filming and I’ll be honest, I’m giddy with excitement after some of the behind-the-scenes stills.
And since it’s the show before Halloween, we’ll talk about some favorite costumes.

This week on Nerds United, the guys are back in the seats after a week off. So Greg is delighted to hear about Mike going to a concert last week.
In the week away, the news really piled up. It is official that Max’s DC show Lanterns has cast its Hal Jordan and its John Stewart. Two characters. Four first names. What a time to be alive.
Also making casting news is DC alum Henry Cavill joining the Voltron project for Prime MGM Studios. This project is getting more and more interesting.
Marvel is working on a video game that takes place within the MCU. It could be anything! It could be nothing at all related to the films. The possibilities are endless.
And in news that both breaks our hearts and doesn’t shock us at all, Joker 2 (too lazy to get the subheading right) was a gigantic flop. I mean…beached whale flop. What were you thinking, Todd Phillips? Joker 2 will be available to stream before the end of the month.

This week on Nerds United, the guys will discuss the upcoming slate of video game adaptations to the big and small screen alike. How will these projects fair? Will they soar like Sonic or Super Mario Bros? Or will their outcome be more like Borderlands or Assassin’s Creed?
Also, in a much anticipated discussion, the guys will be blindly given random titles and will have to create a post-credits scene they would have liked to see for the movie.
We hope you’ll join us live tonight at 9pm Central for a fun discussion that will also include Agatha All Along and the backburner shows like House of Dragons and Rings of Power.

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss some news and notes of the week, largely revolving around DC casting reports.
While it appears the MAX series Green Lanterns has found its Hal Jordan, late week reports indicate the decision for John Stewart is down to two actors.
And the great Alan Tudyk will appear in the Superman movie when it flies into theaters in 2025. Or will he? While reports are that the actor was cast in the movie, filming has wrapped, leading one expert on this show to believe that Tudyk’s casting will be more of a voice role.
And the Dark Knight has received another honor, being the first comic book character to have a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And how exactly does a fictional character celebrate this illustrious honor? We’ll discuss.
And the headlining segment of the show is a Greg v Mike draft where the guys select various big-screen heroes and leave it to the viewers/listeners to vote on who as the better squad.

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss the newest Transformers movie to his theaters, as Greg took his oldest to the movies on Saturday to catch Transformers One.
Meanwhile, Disney+ dropped the first two episodes of Agatha All Along this weekend. Mike watched at least one of those episodes and will fill us in on what it is all about.
When Starz cancelled Heels after two seasons, the show entered a stage of limbo. While a third season remains uncertain, Netflix did acquire the two available seasons and those are now available for streaming on the service. Greg is into the second season and is not only enjoying the various individuals who make up the show but the show itself is really stand out.
So somehow we will parlay these topics into about a 45-0 minute episode as usual.

Greg and Mike are back after a week off as Greg went up to Nebraska for a football game last weekend. Hear all about his trip, see the sights, hear the sounds.
But back in Nerd World, Greg made it to a comic shop this weekend. What did he get? What is he dropping? And what are we going to do about Absolute Batman?
The final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance dropped this week. Does it tease a Spider-Man moment? What sort of coup would Sony have had to pull to orchestrate that?
Todd McFarlane and Image Comics welcomed David Dastmalchian into the comic book club as the Marvel and DC actor has a project out later this month called Knights vs Samurai.
And Greg’s feeling a little nostalgic for some ridiculous toys that he had as a child, you know, the types you can only overpay for on eBay. So there’s touch of retro tonight in lieu of our pick ’em conversation.
But we can’t wait to see you, or for you to find us.

Also, Ted Lasso may be be coming back for a fourth season, but likely without one of the key players. Everyone wants a Scrubs return, but Zach Braff explains the obstacles in the way.
Robert Kirkman has an update on the live-action Invincible movie and there’s a trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Now…don’t let the title deceive you. We aren’t hosting a movie marathon tonight. We’re simply discussing the slew of movies that were watched in the last week or two. Admittedly, some of them were watched prior to last week’s show but were forgotten when the show began.Movies that released in the last week to movies thirty years old…And while we’re at it, how about discussion on some movies that are in the works? Also on the docket – The Acolyte will not be receiving a second season, per Disney/Lucasfilm. That doesn’t surprise most of us, but as you can imagine, there’s already an effort put forth to “Save the Acolyte.”Lastly tonight we’re talking pizza. There’s quite a bit to talk about this week on Nerds United. If you happen to be living under a rock, you may not know that Disney Corp. held its own version of Hall H with its annual D23 Fan Expo last weekend. Fans and doubters alike were treated to updates and trailers for a wide-ranging set of projects from Agatha All Along to live-action versions of favorites like Snow White and Lilo and Stitch, Moana 2, Incredibles 3, and honestly, so much more.We also received a new trailer for Kraven the Hunter and our continued belief that Sony is holding Spider-Man villains hostage. And because we are gluttons for punishment, we are going to talk about more food. This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike will do what podcasters everywhere have been doing for two weeks…continue to ride the Deadpool and Wolverine coattails.
There is a growing fervor for some of those cameo characters to receive full blown movies. Could we see Blade or Gambit again, and do we even want to?
DC Studios is busy, with projects that are already available (Batman: The Caped Crusader on Prime Video), are coming soon (The Penguin on Max), and are deeply rumored to maybe be possible down the road (freakin’ Deadman)!
DC Comics is also reinventing some of their biggest characters, as core members of the Justice League will get the Absolute treatment. But while it looked like it may be a reboot of the universe, it now appears that it will be more along the lines of multiverse exploration.
Lastly, with a slew of DC and Marvel projects coming down the pipe, Mike had the great idea of drafting movies and TV shows to see who would put together the better lineup.

Giancarlo Esposito will play the King of the Serpent Society in Captain America: Brave New World.
We got a little taste of Fantastic Four: First Steps as well as Thunderbolts*.
A couple new Star Trek projects are growing closer to being ready for public consumption.

Also – with Greg on vacation last week, it’s time to get caught up on The Acolyte, The Boys, and other shows or movies we watched in the time off. Furthermore, maybe there are a few extra things that got watched in the interim.
And that brings us to the big man in red…Deadpool. Deadpool and Wolverine hit theaters this week to what has to have been a rock solid start to the box office.

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike are back and are talking about DC movies. Mike and Greg each chose 15 DC movies for the other to review and determine which five need to be kept and which ones can be dumped.
Mike did Greg dirty. The options Greg was given were largely horrible movies (with a few exceptions). Greg tried to find different titles and improve the overall quality of the movies provided.
That’s not all the guys talked about. Greg cleaned out some space to organize his comic books and here’s what he pulled out of a bedroom closet:
Whilst cleaning and organizing, Greg did find a coveted comic book. He looked in every box until he found…
A couple trailers were dropped recently for a movie and a series that are based on wildly popular video games.
First – Borderlands:
Second – Fallout:
The guys talked a little bit about Aquaman 2 after watching it on Max finally. You know what that means..
Next week: DUNE! (Not Dune 2, no one has time for that.)
Also next week, since we’ve picked Marvel movies, DC movies, and 80s movies, we’re going to choose 5 movies from the 90s to preserve.
As always…

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss the Marvel movies and like the 80’s movies a week ago, select a pre-determined number to “save.” That is, all others go away, which ones do you keep?
Mike makes it very difficult on Greg. Greg makes it significantly easier on Mike.
Also, rumors about a Plastic Man movie are intriguing, not that it’s the first tertiary DC character we would think to migrate to the big screen. And do you agree that for Star Wars fans to come together, the movies will need to leave the Skywalker name behind them?
Be kind.

On Nerds United this week, Mike and Greg are excited to recap the week of expected and unexpected trailer releases.
We talked last week about how we anticipated some sort of trailer for the Deadpool movie during the Super Bowl, and did Ryan Reynolds deliver. We also received a trailer for X-Men ’97 which hits Disney+ in a month.
Trailers also dropped this week for a couple of ape-based movies. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Greg finally watched The Marvels and had some thoughts.
And two guys born in the 1980s discuss some movies from that decade.
As always…be kind.

On this episode of Nerds United, Mike and Greg have a good time making superhero team-ups of Marvel and DC characters. From Deadpool to a demon, Captain America to Zatanna, see what pairings the guys made from blind lists.
Also, all signs indicate that James Gunn has his Supergirl. The guys discuss the likely premiere of a Deadpool trailer on the Super Bowl telecast. Greg got some comics and the gents discussed the merits of the Dungeons and Dragons movie while talking about the graphic novel series Die.
We’ll see you next time, and as always…

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike talk a little bit about comics and movies and mostly about shows they have been enjoying, like the second season of Reacher on Prime Video.
The post Nerds United 356: Reacher & Other Shows appeared first on Jittery Monkey Podcasting Network » Nerds United.
This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows that have premiered on Disney+. From WandaVision to Echo, excluding the Groot series and the one-episode specials (sorry Werewolf and GotG), ranking the eight shows from Phase 4 and the four from Phase 5 from 1-10 and building an aggregate score from there.
Also, Greg finished Krampus and really enjoyed it (research needs to be done to see if there will be more to the story) and the guys shared the movies and shows that they watched.
Reacher wrapped up its second season this week. That’s some quality programming right there. And Greg is going to start cutting loose some of his streaming apps.
Lastly, it’s winter. In our area, we’ve had a week where the high temperature has barely touched the freezing mark and a lot of wind chills in the negative range. So we spend a few minutes blind-ranking winter activities. Mike thinks this may lead to a new post on tiktok…and it might. Who knows?

This week on Nerds United, the Greg and Mike finish off the year by doing some more reading, as both guys are enjoying various stages of DC’s Knights of Steel.
Christmas tales were shared, and Brayden was missed (his recent appearance practically doubled the viewership/listenership). Beers were enjoyed, and the guys talked about the year that was and all the things they didn’t get the chance to see.
Then some time was spent talking up 2024 and all that it has to offer. Long story short, we have varying degrees of excitement for the comic book projects headed to screens in the next year.
We hope your 2024 is happy and healthy and as always…
Be kind.

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike are joined by a special guest (we’ll call him the “Guest Host of the Year”), Mike’s nephew Brayden.
Brayden told Uncle Mike that all he wanted for Christmas was to do a guest shot on the podcast. Greg told him to aim higher.
With no comic book consumption to speak of, the guys dove into some fun Christmas topics. First we hear Greg and Mike’s Top 5 Christmas songs. Then, all three are put to the test with blind ranking Christmas movies. That’s where the cover photo comes from. And trust us…the episode is necessary to understand the image.
Merry Christmas, and as always…

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss the regular chit chat and discuss some comic book acquisitions. There’s even an fun story about buckling up some comics to keep them safe on the road (check out the YouTube video for that).
Teaser trailer for The Boys season 4 as well as a rippin’ trailer for the next Godzilla/Kong movie. And will pop culture media outlets ever stop posting on-set spoilers? Ryan Reynolds wishes they would.
Now since Mike has seen The Marvels, and since some Screen Rant or other outlet published an article claiming there are ten Marvel projects worse than The Marvels, Greg puts Mike to the test, runs down the list, and asks Mike if he agrees with the author’s assessment.
Lastly, the guys share their Top Five non-MCU Marvel Movie Moments. Movies like The Hulk, the Fantastic Four (and Fant4stic), the X-Men franchises, etc. Which scenes make the cut?

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg get together for what they think is a short episode (SPOILER: It’s still almost an hour) and while they don’t have a formal “main topic,” they do spend some time on some news and notes.
For example…does Tom Holland need creative control of the next Spider-Man movie? Or would the studio re-cast him if they have a script that he doesn’t like?
The stars of Supernatural tease a possible future for the longest running sci-fi/fantasy series in the history of American television. That’s mostly unfortunate, really, as the show went on about nine years too long as it was.
There’s a really solid trailer for the Furiosa movie.
Greg finally read DC’s Dark Knights of Steel Vol. 1 (with volume 2 available later this month). It’s really good and it should be in Mike’s hands later this week.
Get some updates on what’s going on in the guys’ lives. For example, the night we recorded, Greg took his family to the world famous St. Louis Zoo for their Wild Lights event. And Mike finally has a safe vehicle to drive to and from the gym.

Happy Thanksgiving!
This week on Nerds United, the guys continue the years-long tradition of Turkey Before Turkey.
There was some moderate comic book acquisition in the short week, as Greg shares his pick-ups. And while Greg was getting comics, Mike was at the theater watching The Marvels, so the Co-Host of the Year talks about that movie a bit.
With Blue Beetle’s arrival on MAX, both guys had the chance to watch it, and they gave their thoughts.
We’re thankful for you, and we remind you to be kind.

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike admit that neither of them did a ton of reading in the past week. But the guys have plenty to discuss.
Greg finished Under the Dome and while the premise was really interesting at the outset, he found the ending to be a bit lacking.
But Loki’s season finale definitely delivered.
Also, some trailers out there, like the Madam Web movie we forgot about, and the second season of What If. Basically, if you want Marvel done right, leave it to Marvel.
Mike poses an interesting question. If you’re sitting down with someone who hasn’t seen a Marvel movie, but the notion of 30+ movies and tv shows is a bit daunting, where do you start, and what is essential? So the guys break down their essential movies of Marvel’s Phases 1, 2, and 3.

This week on Nerds Untied, Mike and Greg discuss the season finale of Gen V and the timeline for its end and season four of The Boys. Greg is behind on Loki Season Two but hopes to get caught up in the next few days.
Greg is watching Under the Dome, a show from a decade ago, and was surprised to find in its third season that the culprit is aliens. I mean, aliens?

The guys were surprised this week, as maybe we all were, by a Ghostbusters trailer. Did you see it? It’s pretty rad.
And it doesn’t appear that either of the guys will go see The Marvels in theaters. But movies at home, like Blue Beetle next week on Max, are definitely a possibility.

This week on the show, Mike and Greg share their top must-see movies from each of the last few decades, back to the 1980s.
Before that part of the show, the guys discuss some comics they have been reading. Gen V wrapped up its first season and at the same time, Invincible Season 2 started on Prime Video as well.
Plus, the guys enjoyed the trailer for Marvel’s Echo and Greg got a little clarification on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
And do the guys dip their toe into the Snow White controversy?

So let’s just get into it. In the course of the discussion, the guys talk about the second season of The Santa Clauses, coming to Disney+ this holiday season. Greg mistakenly said Kumail Nanjiani was in the first season before Mike corrected him, stating it was in fact Kal Penn.
Mike continued to state that the confusion happens so frequently that the stars have addressed it publicly.
Before that part of the show, the guys talk about some of the comics they’ve been reading and the shows they’ve been watching or, in Greg’s case, discovered for the first time.
We’re poised, it would seem, to get some live-action Gargoyles in the future on Disney+.
The end of the show has the guys blind-ranking Halloween candy, which as it turns out, is just candy with a few seasonal additions.

This episode, at least the first ten or fifteen minutes, is dedicated to birds. All the years I’ve known Mike, and I had no idea he was an amateur ornithologist.
After that, we get into some recent comic book acquisitions and books we’ve been reading. Mike is pretty excited for Greg to get his hands on Gideon Falls, a Jeff Lemire graphic novel.
Meanwhile, Greg picked up some DC Knight Terrors tie-ins and hopes to get them read in a timely manner. And Greg binged Beckham in one day this past week. Check out the trailer. If you were alive and cognizant of pop culture in the late 1990s, there’s no way you were able to avoid the David Beckham/Posh Spice mania.
New episodes of Loki and Gen V, but the conversation shifted to horror and Halloween, as Mike determined that most horror movies don’t take place at Halloween, and asked “which movies take place at Halloween.”
The show is wrapped up with blind rankings of Halloween costumes, which we will try to share in short-form video on some of our platforms.

Then the duo discussed the Percy Jackson and the Olympians reboot heading to Disney+ later this year. Is that a show you’re excited to see? Let us know in the comments.
Then the guys went on to blind rank some stuff. First they did blind rankings of X-Men movies. Now for this, it wasn’t just movies with X-Men in the title, but any movie with an X-Man in it (and one that was tangentially included).
And then a couple of guys who like food blind rank breakfast noms.

So the guys talk a little bit about vegetables. Honestly, I think they talk more about vegetables than either of them actually eat vegetables.
So what books did the guys have the chance to read this week? And what shows have they been enjoying?
Is the ongoing Hollywood strike to blame for our lack of content? We think so.

Jason Copland is back on the show. You may remember him from Episode 83 where he talked about Kill All Monsters. But this time around, we’re talking about the project that Jason spent the last five years of his life building. He took a chance, bet on himself, and created Full Tilt.

But the strike has halted some shows, like Blade and interrupted shooting on other believed Marvel projects. However some are moving forward as scheduled, including Deadpool 3, LOTR: The Rings of Power, and Thunderbolts.
Meanwhile, there are rumors to who would play Reed Richards and Sue Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. And the guys take a shot at who should play Silver Surfer if that character is in the movie.

Meanwhile, the guys enjoyed various shows and movies, from Mike watching an Academy Award-winning film to Greg sitting through Ryan Reynold’s not least-favorite movie.
Also, Ted Lasso had one of its best episodes of the season this past week, Greg is watching Star Wars Rebels and has finally got to the point where they’ve brought in Admiral Thrawn. Mike was about five episodes in to season two of Sweet Tooth and the guys are pretty pumped for The Flash.

Well, we thank you for the terrific numbers last week. We’re confident it wasn’t a glitch. 1,100+. May be a new Jittery Monkey record (although Kevin did recently have RVD on episode 420).
This week on the show, Mike and Greg talk about some new streaming season announcements, like Ted Lasso, Cobra Kai, and Invincible. And the guys also share their differing opinions about the Letterkenny-verse after the announcement that Shoresy is getting a second season in 2023.
Another announcement was the third season of Mandalorian, which brought on another Star Wars discussion. And Mike made another bold statement in regards to how he views the franchise.
In an attempt to see if last week’s numbers are a technical glitch, we ask you to reach out to us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter (@nerdsunitedshow) or send us an email to nerdsunitedpodcast@gmail.com.
We thank you and as always, be kind.

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg recap their week’s reading and viewing. For Mike, that means going back and watching (re-watching, maybe, we hope?) THE trilogy…the OG…the original Star Wars trilogy. And following that act, he got into the sequel trilogy.
Oh boy…HOT TAKES!
Now Mike is challenging you to review the Star Wars movies through a critical lens and not one that is based on nostalgia.
Okay, we also talk about the continued state of DC Studios, the #6SeasonsandaMovie that Community is headed towards, the alleged Captain Planet movie, the upcoming second and final season of Carnival Row, and the new Quantumania trailer.
We’re very interested in your Star Wars hot takes!

There’s a lot of news lately about DC Studios (my very own shorthand for Warner Brothers-Discovery’s DCU). We all know that James Gunn and Peter Safran are now in charge of the movie/television division. But some of the news and notes that came out are pretty astounding.
Also, what did the guys read in the week? And how is Greg’s squats challenge going?
Lastly, there was a tragic accident last week involving Jeremy Renner and a snow plow.
All the details, and all the opinions, in the episode!

The final episode of the year includes a ranking of the movies and special events we got in 2022. And we encourage you to rank them as well in the comments.
The guys made another trip to Twilight Comics (Swansea, IL) and got some good books to discuss. There was also a little bit of news, like the planned Green Lantern show on HBO Max not necessarily being shelved, as well as what a Chadwick Boseman Black Panther sequel might have looked like.
Lastly, the guys end the year by ranking the 2023 movie offerings as to which ones they are most excited to see, Immediate dissension as the guys are out of the gates on different wavelengths.
Enjoy the show. Share it with others. Resolve to tell a few people about Nerds United in the new year. Be safe, and

Also, we happened to record on Greg’s oldest son’s seventh birthday. So the guys take a trip down memory lane to seven years back and the day the child was born.
Eventually, the guys get on with some comics they’ve been reading, including the Saga of Swamp Thing, Locke & Key, Weapon H, and Grim.

This week we tried something different. Greg drove all the way across town to Mike’s, and from a distance of 76 inches, the guys recorded a new podcast episode (as well as YouTube show). In this episode, the guys discuss Spawn, the Flash, share stories from high school, video games, and some more.

This week on an all-new Nerds United, Mike and Greg brinfly revisit last week’s conversation about forgotten cartoons in the form of Mutant League.
While reading from The League of Regrettable Superheroes, Mike selects Nelvana of the Northern Lights. While discussing her origin, powers, and recent popularity. Could Nelvana be ripe for a big-screen debut? Greg thinks so.
A few news and notes about movie dates being pushed back, and then the guys break into a conversation about comic book vehicles.
Stick around for the end. We’re doing a giveaway. We want you to support your local comic book store during these “uncertain times” and we have a way for you to do so. Check out TKO Studios and make a purchase. You can select your local comic book shop and TKO will pay the brick and mortar the same amount that the store would have made if you bought the book in person. Take a screenshot of your comic store selection and receive an entry into the giveaway.
BONUS If you select Twilight Gaming and Comics in Swansea, IL, you’ll receive an extra entry. T-shirts, comics, and whatever else I can come up with to help you help the comic book stores we all love.

This week on the show, Mike and Greg discuss workouts while staying at home. They include comic books. Also, Greg’s back is more messed up than was initially indicated.
This week we’re talking about some forgotten cartoons of our youth. Everyone talks about Batman TAS, X-Men, Gargoyles, He-Man, TMNT. But what about the unsung heroes of your childhood? Popeye, Denver the Last Dinosaur, and more.
We also talk about some recent sitcoms, one that Mike has been talking about to Greg for awhile. And [SPOILER ALERT] I’m watching it right now!

This week on a new Nerds United, Mike and Greg (still separated by miles, but together in spirit) discuss watching Bloodshot, a movie that opened in theaters two weekends ago, from the comfort of their respective couches. And seriously, watch Bloodshot.
Also on the agenda: Batman V Superman – Dawn of Justice. Someone hadn’t seen it before, and after watching portions of the movie over three days, said person still hasn’t “seen” it. Alas…what’s a husband to do?
Keeping on with the B’s…Bee-Man, a 1966 character from Harvey Comics. Also:
Speaking of comics – support your local comic book store. They need you now more than ever! Find your store on social media. Find out if they are shipping books to your home (assuming they’re closed like ours). Make sure when doors reopen that you show them just as much love as movie theaters, concert venues, dine-in restaurants, and sporting events. They live to provide you with great books. Find them. I beg you.

Well the only thing not shut down beside’s Greg’s “essential” job is this podcast (and the other great podcasts on the Jittery Monkey Podcast Network).
But there is a change. Mike is calling in on this episode, not in Studio B. And it’s really weird.
This episode features talk about what is going on in the world right now, ya know, the Big C.
But there’s also talk about Fantomah – The Blazing Skull Mystery Woman of the Jungle Who Was There Before Wonder Woman. Also, rumors about Wonder Woman 84 being sent straight to VOD were debunked (Greg missed the memo), Rosario Dawson IS Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, 2,000 American’s favorite superheroes and super villains, and Bloodshot will be available digitally this week. So buy it. You’ll thank me.
And we thank you for tuning in and being awesome. Because where would we be without you? I’ll tell you where…sitting right here bringing you a new episode, just with one fewer listener. And we can’t have that. So tell your friends. And wash your hands.

This was the episode that was not meant to be. Presently, the Co-Host of the Year is out of town. But before he left, we got together for an hour and knocked out a podcast. It was early in the week, amid all of the continued madness that is Covid-19.
On this special surprise episode, we talk about Allison Brie (or someone like Allison Brie) that Marvel is looking for to play She-Hulk. That goes into a long discussion about the Hulks we’ve had thus far on the big screen.
Avengers Campus is set to open this summer, assuming we’re allowed to leave our homes ever again.
There’s more, but I’m trying to watch Blade Runner and this is taking away from that. I’m no good at multi-tasking.

This week on the show, Greg and Mike are talking about Disney’s live-action remakes, which ones are coming up and if we’re excited for them.

(You can watch Greg’s short version right here)
We also talk about Nemesis, Playstation 5 being outrageously priced, and Mike names all of the world’s rivers. So we have that!
Oh, let’s not forget the latest images of Robert Pattinson as The Batman.

Well it’s time for a brand new episode of your favorite podcast (at least, if we are, leave a rating and review on your favorite podcast app).
Mike and Greg talk about Lady Satan, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Captain Marvel, and Mortal Kombat (whoa, I almost spelled that with a “C,” like some sort of noob).
We also have some great discussions based on your questions. And if you’d like to ask a question, just hit us up on Facebook, Twitter, or nerdsunitedpodcast@gmail.com
Enjoy. Be kind. Rewind.

In this special mid-week episode of Nerds United, we bring back Travis Yates. We hear a bit more about Travis’ bona fides in the realm of media and journalism and get a brief update on what’s going on over on Popology 101 on the Positive Cynicism Podcast Network (the #PCPN, if you will).
This discussion largely centers on nostalgia and the continued reboots/remakes of beloved IP’s of our youth. Greg calls it “nostalgia mining,” ie – the best parts of our youth sold off to the highest bidder. Travis thinks that it’s actually not the worst thing in the world, and how a little blast from the past can be a good thing.
Of course, there’s a brief review of the “Nostalgia” drug in the Watchmen series, hence why we get this classic artwork. Nostalgia and the theft of our youth. Are you for it or against it?

Welcome to the first episode of a new year. And no, it won’t be a 14-hour episode. We’ve decided that IF we do a marathon recording, it will only be thirteen hours and five minutes…give or take.
But who has that type of time?
Oh yeah, our friends at ABCD-Bagz.
Anyway, since it’s been a few weeks since our last episode, we’re getting caught up on some geeky trailers that have dropped since the ball in Times Square. Bloodshot, Morbius, Harley Quinn, Black Widow, and more news and notes.
