In this episode we continue with success stories from the crew! Cache Lynn and Logan Marshall had an incredible time during the Colorado 2nd season rifle hunt. It's been a busy early season for the entire crew here at Epic Outdoors with Wyatt and Adam ringing the bell early with their archery Mule deer. The others are jumping from state to state, both hunting and guiding. We also put a call in to Clint Lindstrom, who has spent plenty of time this year in Wyoming and Northern Utah. Wyatt has been waiting for as long as he can remember to draw a tag like this and although he felt the pressure of 20+ years of waiting, he was able to make an incredible play and notch his tag with an absolute Monster Mule deer.
Adam Bronson's 2023 Archery Mule Deer hunt was a nail biter. From spooking him twice to forgetting a knife to skin him with, it was great to sit down and hear the whole story. It was a tough hunt that required some master level hunting skills from Adam, or as Devin would call them "Ninja Hunting Skills".

One of the first people to take the idea of organized conservation and apply it to Desert Sheep was Eddie Pribyl of the Fraternity of the Desert Bighorn. Eddie started this faternity with 8 others in 1964 and it is the world's oldest wild sheep conservation group. This group specializes in creating sustainable habitat for Nevadas Desert Bighorn Sheep and 67 other species. Almost everyone who's had the opportunity to hunt Desert Bighorn in Nevada owes some thanks to Eddie Pribyl and the FDB.
All hunters are wildlife conservationists. It would be almost impossible to speak with an avid big game hunter who isn't concerned about the wildlife populations, youngling health or habitat strength. The crew was very grateful to be able to sit down with a guy like Eddie and hear about his stories and experiences building up the hunting habitats we enjoy today.

Jason sits down with Robby Denning as a guest on the RokCast Podcast to talk about everything Mule Deer. Robby Denning has been a long time friend of Jason and the Epic Crew, so naturally we were excited to talk to him and hear about how things are going in Idaho, Wyoming and the rest of the Western US.
Robby has been primarily a Mule Deer hunter his whole life, rarely hunting anything else. It's been a busy few weeks and we are more than excited to be back! In this episdode we get an inside look at the Epic Crew's last three weeks, the good, the bad AND the ugly. While frusterating and difficult, we wouldn't give up hunting for anything.
In this episode, the Epic Outdoors Crew talks about the Arizona Bison Application deadline, followed by a Vortex sponsored question about binocular magnification and a user-submitted question about the best Western state in which to have residency. The crew then calls Wyatt who's returning from a Wyoming antelope hunt and they talk about Wyatt and Devin's antelope hunts. In this episode, the Epic Outdoors Crew gets a visit from Colby Kroff from Swarovski. Colby announces the brand new compact spotting scope from Swarovski. Possible Elimination of Nonresident Sheep Hunting in New Mexico. With only 4 members of the typical 7 member comission, and hard pushes from the New Mexico Wildlife Federation, and other special interest groups, New Mexico is moving closer and closer to Closing Sheep hunts to nonresidents. Brushes with Death and Brown Bear, Jesse Tatman. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk with longtime hunting guide, Jesse Tatman. In October of 2021 while leading his pack horses back to the trailhead another hunter heard the approaching horses, thought it was a bear, and began shooting at Jesse and his horses. Jesse recounts seeing the muzzle blast at close range and the events that transpired. He also shared several charging brown bear stories from years of guiding in Alaska.
Back to Colorado. 3rd Season Report. In this episode we talk about the third season, our reports, and reports we've received from others. We also talk about the 4th season outlook. EP 216: It's Elk Month!! Field Judging and Hunting Bulls. Many of our staff is out on the road chasing bulls. September is the time we all dream of when it comes to bugles and bulls. We talk with Adam on his elk hunt as well as Devin who is hunting elk in Colorado. We also talk with David Matthews about elk in New Mexico and Arizona. We also get everyones take on field judging bulls on the hunt.
Chasing Tags and Antelope. This week we spent some time in Nevada chasing antelope with members of the Epic Outdoors Staff. Wyatt Bowles and Devin Archibald both took 80"+ antelope. Although we have downplayed the difficulty of antelope hunts in the past the hunts werent without their challenges. As hunters we learn to roll with the punches, adapt, and adjust to circumstances. That is exactly what we had to do in these situations. When all was said and done we came home with two great bucks. Devin is in the office and shares his story with us all.
EP 214: Under Armour Product Release 2021 with Travis Gessley. In this Episode we talk with Travis of Under Armour about the 2021 product release that has now begun. For years we have used and loved the Raider Pants but have asked for some heat relief. UA answered with the new UA Raider HD and the Raider Lite pants. The Raider HD has heat dumps allowing for heat let off. The Raider lite is made of a breathable mesh fabric. These are some of the new products that we will talk about in this episode as well as others. Were looking forward to having more time in the field with the new gear.

In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk about the News of the West including, Canada Travel Opening, Wyoming Draw Changes, Epic Updates, Hunt Giveaway Winner News, etc. As we are in the podcast we receive Flash Flood warnings and start getting pictures from town of mass Floods her in Cedar City. What a drastic change from the extreme drought conditions that have been prevalent this year.
Surviving Rattlesnake Bites in the Field. In this episode we talk with two special guests who tell their stories of Rattlesnake bites while out in the field. While hunting the west it is fairly common to come across a rattlesnake. Last week we started wondering about the costs, and what actually getting bit would be like. After reaching out in a previous podcast we had two guests that were willing to share their stories with us. Special thanks to Levi and JB for sharing with us.

This ram is 11 1/2 years old and has a green gross score of 185 2/8" and a Net score of 184 4/8" The ram had incredible bases that measured at 15 2/8" It is truly remarkable in a Dall Sheep to have that kind of mass. We enjoy hearing the story of the hunt and how it all played out.

Sometimes it is hard to know which direction to go when it comes to getting tags in the West. In a changing world it takes flexibility to make things work. Here at Epic Outdoors, we live to find success where it may not be common. In this episode we record live from the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo in Salt Lake City. EP 142: The Life of a Wolf Hunter with Gus Thoreson. While spending several winters in the backcountry trapping and hunting wolves, Gus studied and learned a lot about wolf behavior and tendencies. Wolves are a very smart predator that are efficient in being unseen killers. A wolf hunt is one of the most exhausting hunts, both mentally and physically and yields the lowest success rates of most any hunts in the west. By learning to better understand wolves, Gus has found quite a bit of success on harvesting wolves. This is an informative podcast for anyone interested in wolf hunting.
Change Creates Opportunity. We often detest change and the pains of having our favorite hunts and hunting areas affected. Although it's not easy to embrace change we should always look for new opportunities created by those changes. Sometimes a new hunt date, a longer season, new tag numbers, new drawing procedures by a state, can play to our benefit if we pay attention. If we as hunters can be observant, change can sometimes lead to some of our best opportunities. This episode focuses on a lot of changes and highlights new ways to look at some of those changes.

In this episode of The Epic Outdoors Podcast we take a call from 25 year old, Jason Mouttet, who is currently sitting on Wheeler Peak in New Mexico after successfully filling his tag on a Bighorn Sheep. Jason drew the tag on his second year applying. We discussed the excitement of getting a tag at age 25 and how he appreciates what he has. Because of this he dedicated over 20 days to scouting the unit and looking over sheep. With hard to come by tags like this there is a lot of pressure to be successful. We talk in depth about these rare opportunities and how to best handle those situations. Hunting season is almost here and we are beyond ready to get out in the field.
