Recently incarcerated individuals known as Returning Citizens represent a huge untapped workforce.

We are partnering with our Chamber of Commerce’s Greater Philadelphia Energy Action Team (GPEAT) to produce a special series with GPEAT to showcase just how significant the energy sector is in this region. Our series will illustrate how companies large and small are providing the leadership and expertise that is fueling economic growth across our region and across the country. We thought there would be no better way to kick off this series than to present our conversation with Mike Innocenzo, President and CEO of PECO. We had the privilege to interview Mike in front of a live studio audience and we learned how PECO’s history has helped them be the innovators in the energy sector they are today.
With deep, proud roots, what was once known as the Philadelphia Electric Company, PECO has evolved and adapted over the decades and today is “the largest electric and natural gas utility in Pennsylvania, serving approximately 1.6 million electric customers and more than 500,000 natural gas customers in southeastern Pennsylvania.” We recorded our conversation with Mike in front of a live studio audience at PECO’s headquarters in Philadelphia. Academic, business, and civic leaders learned how Mike and his team embrace their role as “stewards of the planet” by working to protect our natural resources while advancing energy efficiency.

Ed also explained how they are a nonpartisan operating foundation that it is fully-funded by a multi-million dollar endowment which allows for 100% of their members investments to go to the nonprofits of their choice.
