In this episode of The Bitterest Pill, we bid farewell to the previous host, Dan Klass, and welcome aboard the new host, Dan Klass. I/We still haven’t figured out how to differentiate between the two Dans, but we’ll come up with something. Since these episode notes are being typed by the current Dan Klass, I feel I am in the unique position to dub myself Dan Alpha, and the previous version Dan Beta. Or, we are both Dan Beta (Neither of us would refer to ourselves as an “Alpha.” That is for those who compensate), so maybe the other Dan is “Dan Beta” and I am “Dan Betamax.” Better in many ways, but even MORE unlikely to be accepted by the masses…
This is much like the first episode of the Original Recipe The Bitterest Pill, in that it is less an episode, and more of a preamble of what I assume is to come.
This episode is available in audio and video form. I currently do not know how Spotify (or any of the podcatchers) handle the audio/video switcheroo thing, but I’ll figure it out (unless it costs money).
(BTW, I’m typing this sitting on my bed, projecting my iPhone screen (Google docs) onto the wall, typing on a wireless keyboard. Dreams DO come true)
I’m going to try to do a show every week or every other week, starting…Now, I guess.
Thanks for your patience while I’ve undergone a painful but worthwhile metamorphosis.

We celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Bitterest Pill by discussing: Chatbots can’t keep up the facade, DJ X is a fraud, passing gas immediately before work is a risky game, and Clint Eves is a bad intern.

I can not describe this episode. It was recorded on June 5th, and I’m writing this description on Oct. 12. So, just listen?
I made an AI version of my voice, I am a horrible friend, and Cousin Ronny (River) is a cowboy…
Cousin River’s new show is Ranch America on the Outdoor Channel, starting next month.
I switched to “less expensive” health insurance, tried to get AI to make me a Me, and finally fixed the washer and dryer…I think.
I bought a Koke Zeero laced with cyanide, got new glasses that are useless, called in “sick,” and tried to fix the leaking shower…
I talk about not wanting to go to the “Black Chipotle,” getting COVID twice, the proper way to write an obituary, Lighthouse Spaceship & card tricks, bald guy hair maintenance, and how I am no good at reacting to getting a traffic ticket…
After a bit of an extended hiatus (almost 3 years?), I am back with the usual nonsense about restroom phone etiquette, rabid raccoons, the Bitterest Pill connection to possibly the greatest movie ever made, my version of TikTok, and my expertise in installing smart thermostats…
I talked reality with my agent. Honestly, if you’re trying to make it in show business, reality is the last thing you want to talk about.
(Originally released April 21, 2011) Hudson and his friends took part in the LA County Science and Engineering Fair, and I chaperoned. No, not my first choice of chaperone, but there […]
We were supposed to go to Hawaii again this year. But, things can change. Try explaining to your 8-year-old daughter that she won’t be spending her birthday in Maui after all. Gulp.
I went to a football game. Well, two. I think. Jimmy drove us. I "talked" sports and drank a third of a beer. And survived.
I talk about my need for a new coding system, so I know when a woman is interested in me and when she is just being polite. "What's Your '17?'" "Butterscotch?" "Lima bean?"
All I wanted was to get some frozen yogurt on a Saturday night, and maybe get my daughter's phone fixed.
This is sort of a reprise of Hudson's first appearance on the podcast way back in 2004. In this episode, like back then, we talk Christmas music, except now his voice is much deeper (and apparently so is mine).
We discuss my work on a new sports podcast (no, that is not a typo), sexy old ladies and getting punched in the face...
(April 2011) My daughter got slapped in the face at school by one of her friends. Then, the next day, a couple of boys tried to test her karate skills […]
I tell a story about having to drive to Burbank to buy a telescope on the same day I had lunch with my old college friend the celebrity priest. I hit a lot of traffic on the way to lunch, so the trip to a lot longer than I expected. Or could stand.
I ended up writing, directing and starring in a short called "The Perv." You know what every great heist needs? A crew...
I went to Upper Michigan to do some acting I've been looking forward to for years. Don't worry, I'm still an idiot. An idiot who apparently isn't sure he can function outside the sprawl of endlessly repeating chain stores and Starbucks that is Los Angeles...
My thumb clicks, my daughter's friend "disappeared," and...I don't know, something else. I already can't remember what I talked about in this episode...
Do you think I should worry that my kids go to school in an official tsunami danger zone? My house is in no danger, but the wave would take out my kids' school, a large marina, and The Home Depot.
The story of Podcast Movement '17 continues, after a few brief updates. And, yes, cars can fly.
I start the tale of Podcast Movement, giving my acceptance speech for my induction into the Podcast Academy Podcaster Hall of Fame, and how I am in desperate need of validation. Yes, being inducted into a hall of fame isn't enough...
[EXPLICIT VERSION] Holy cow, it only took 13 years, but finally, my special in-studio guest is...TALLU!?
Hudson is off at college, T is going to high school about 40 miles form where we supposedly live, and I feel like I'm gonna die in the frozen food section of an unfamiliar Ralphs...
I'm waxing nostalgic about horseback riding and bb guns. I grew up in the town that was home to the Crosman BB Gun factory. At least, I think that's what that was...
As you may or may not have heard, I will be inducted into the Podcaster Hall of Fame this August. Hard to believe, I know. Apparently, there's a lot to be said for never having the good sense to give up...
My worst nightmare has come true. The one thing I've been dreading would happen since October happened. The good news: I wasn't riddled with anxiety for no reason...
Jeff McCann convinced me to try Bullet Proof Coffee. It's supposed to give you "mental focus." Your results may vary.
I discuss applying for college, Yetis, getting what you pay for (podcasting education wise), and mouse droppings.
PT. 1: What happens when anxiety, procrastination and the Sophomore Slump collide? A short film not ironically entitled "Untitled Compromise." PT. 2: The election. Don't worry, it's pH balanced...I think.
