Phoebe Holston is Founder and CEO of Hygiene Freaks, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides hygiene kits to people experiencing homelessness. She founded the organization in March of 2020, and it is truly a labor of love for her. Phoebe is deeply concerned about the homeless community in Los Angeles and feels that until she is able to house people experiencing homelessness, she can at least offer something that can make them feel a bit better while they are unhoused.

Joe was born in Boston across from the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown and grew up in the Irish neighborhood of West Roxbury or "Westie". The talented vibrant Camille Bright, also known as Cammi Bright, is a native of South Carolina. Camille knew from a young age that entertaining was her passion. At eighteen a courageous Camille with dreams of making it big, decided to move to New York City after she was offered a scholarship to The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. Camille spent four wonderful years gaining experience in the big city, where she booked multiple commercials and off Broadway plays. Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series! Can you tell us the story of how you grew up?
Iwas born the third of six children in Ridgecrest, California. When my parents divorced when I was six, my mother took all six of us to her hometown of Panaca, Nevada. This was a small pioneer town of just 750 people. I spent my youth playing baseball, basketball, and football for my local sports teams through high school. During the summers, we would visit my father in California for a month or so at a time. This was my life living as a middle child in a broken home.
Can you share a story with us about what brought you to this specific career path?
I invested in a publicly-traded gold mining company and was invited to attend a board meeting for the top investors in the company. While there, I went to dinner with one of the board members. He looked across the table from me and said, “I’ve got a movie I want you to be in. I want you to be the luxury yacht captain.” I laughed, but one thing led to the other and eventually, I was cast in that movie. They ended up casting me in the first movie I played a part in, Wander, starring Aaron Eckhart, Tommy Lee Jones, Katheryn Winnick, Raymond Cruz, and Heather Graham. I wasn’t disappointed at the change in direction.

Can you tell us the most interesting story that happened to you since you began your career?
I’ve learned that actors are very kind and generous people. They are susceptible to things as they spend their lives living in others’ footsteps. As such, they need to come to a place of acceptance, understanding, and justification around the emotional obligations required to play their assigned roles. This gives each actor such tremendous understanding and empathy about so many lives that it can’t help but impact them in a way that is for good. I’ve been on the receiving end of such generosity from actors such as Aaron Eckhart, Katheryn Winnick, Raymond Cruz, Taryn Manning, and Cory Hardrict. Each has helped me in so many unique ways, artistically or personally.
Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?
I began taking acting lessons from a local acting coach who was just a small-town actor and a full-time realtor. He didn’t know how to get me to act. It was so sad. I tried, but nothing was happening. Finally, one day I think he thought he would throw me into the fire by bringing out a film crew. Hoping the pressure of being filmed would help me tap into my genuine and authentic emotions. He even brought out locally trained talent and paid them to help me in my portion of the scene. It couldn’t have gone worse. After that, I had a phone call with the Eric Morris Actors Workshop. Susana Morris was kind enough to speak with me about being my acting coach. The rest is history. She is brilliant and knew exactly how to tap into my raw talent and bring out my authentic self to deliver excellent, dependable performances for my characters. She and I have been working together ever since.
What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?
I am very excited that the movie Karen has been released to the world through the various streaming platforms and on BET. Such a compelling and relevant story was necessary at this time. I am also excited about four other projects I’ve been cast in. Two, in particular, I can mention at this time: Birdseye and Armistice. You’ll come to know those two names very well within the next couple of years.
You have been blessed with success in a career path that can be challenging. Do you have any words of advice for others who may want to embark on this career path, but seem daunted by the prospect of failure?
The most important trait an aspiring actor can have is dependability. Someone who shows up on set delivering exactly what the director wishes from their character is all any director can ask for. Just show up and do your job and do it well. That’s it! From there, just bust your butt for opportunities and try to build relationships. This business is all about who you know.

Throughout her over twenty five-year career as an actress, Devika Parikh has distinguished herself with numerous memorable roles in iconic series and feature films in both comedy and drama.
Raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland to what she lovingly terms a "Blindian," family with an East Indian father from Mumbai, India and an African-American mother from Virginia, along with her two sisters, Devika's mixed cultural heritage has been a source of pride. Her first name in Sanskrit means "little goddess," and her heritage has played a part in her diverse portrayals of black, East Indian, and mixed ethnicity characters throughout her career.
Initially questioning the reality of pursuing her dream of acting, Devika first pursued journalism, graduating with a degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University where she was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. After college, Devika began a job at the prestigious MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour in Arlington, VA.
After a soul-searching trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, Devika decided to leave journalism to pursue her lifelong passion, packed her Toyota Celica for the cross-country trip, and secured a job in NBC's Page program in Burbank. Soon Devika began training, appearing in Los Angeles theater productions, and performing comedy.

Adam Vernier was born in Manassas, Virginia. While living in Chicago at 5 years old, Vernier auditioned for and was the second choice for the part of "Danny" in the movie The Shining. Adam has worked for years on stage (Equity), television shows (SAG-AFTRA), feature films (SAG), straight to television movies (SAG-AFTRA), commercials (SAG), industrial training videos (SAG) and on and on. He is also a Notary Public in the State of Florida which allows him the privilege of performing wedding ceremonies which he does often. Vernier plays Sheriff Guidry in "Queen Sugar" on the OWN network (seasons 3,4 and 5) and "Gavin" on Netflix's "Outerbanks" as well as Ted Claiborne on Disney Plus series "The Right Stuff". Vernier is also known for the role of Officer Jim Tuttle on season two (2017) of "Outcast" from Robert Kirkman. Vernier is a long term Board member for SAG-AFTRA. He is married and has 2 children and resides in Florida, "playing" at the theme parks with his family every chance he gets! Vernier is a lover of life that refuses to leave anything in the tank when he is done. His mom is a retired nurse in Florida, his father a retired pilot in Los Angeles and he has a sister who is a business owner in New Orleans.

Originally from Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Douglas' interest in acting began with his first pair of Underoos. The joy of pretend fired his passion and imagination for more. St. James appears on The West Wing as Congressman Darren Gibson and on iCarly as Mr. Howard, a mean math teacher who hates his students and wife. He also appeared in Creative Differences as Dick. St. James is also known for his role as Admiral Broden in Space: Above and Beyond and Bob Garland in Donnie Darko.

Gregory Zarian is an acclaimed actor, model and host, who was recently seen in a recurring role on the third season of the hit HBO series "Westworld" as 'Reed Phillips'. In May 2020, Zarian was Nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category "Outstanding Performance by a supporting Actor in a Digital Drama" for his role on and the Emmy-winning web series, "Venice the Series." Gregory portrays 'Detective Nick Pfander' in season five of the series, and he portrays Nick's twin brother 'Nate Pfander' in the current sixth season, for which he was nominated.
A little about Charles, he is an award winning producer, director, author and world diabetes advocate. He is also the nephew of the late legendary Bob Marley. Charles has dedicated his entire life to make content to help bring awareness to different medical conditions. This has been driven by his own type 2 diabetes diagnosis. At the time of his diagnosis, he was just given a script and referrals to different experts and was sent on his way. He knew there had to be an easier and healthier way to combat this disease and therefore starting his journey as an advocate. He has branched out into other conditions such as his tv series, Eight Days. This docu series aired last Spring and was a huge success. (I included a link to an episode below.) He has also made a documentary called Trial By Fire, which revolves around a condition his mother, Constance Marley, suffers from called CRPS. Chalres truly has a heart of gold and wants nothing more than to help people.
Lisa Loeb is a Grammy-winning singer songwriter, touring musician, and philanthropist who began her career with the 1994 hit Reality Bites song “Stay (I Missed You),’ the first song to go to No. 1 by an unsigned artist, leading to a major recording contract. She’s released 15 studio albums, including five children’s albums and two illustrated children’s books with music, and her most recent release A Simple Trick to Happiness. Lisa founded The Camp Lisa Foundation, which sends underserved kids to summer camp. Later on, she had regular roles in the series 'All of Us' and 'Meet the Browns', and had recurring roles in 'Soul Food', 'Greenleaf' and 'Mann & Wife'. Her few notable film roles were in movies, such as 'Friday', 'Black Scorpion', 'Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood', 'Black Scorpion II: Aftershock', 'Dirty Laundry' and 'Daddy's Little Girls'. Terri J. While studying in her senior year at California State University, Terri J. Vaughn was encouraged by a friend to participate in the 'Miss Black California Pageant'. During the competition, she read a passage from Ntozake Shange's 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf', which helped her secure a spot in the Los Angeles finals where one of the judges offered her a role in a play he was producing. She subsequently went on a 20-city tour of 'Tellin' It Like It Tiz' and began acting on stage regularly.
In 1993, she made her television debut with a small role in the hit television series 'Living Single', and had an uncredited role in the film 'Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit'. Throughout the decade, she appeared on television series such as 'The Sinbad Show', 'Married... with Children' and 'Family Matters', and had roles in films like 'Friday', 'Black Scorpion' and its sequel 'Black Scorpion II: Aftershock', 'Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood' and 'Carnosaur 3: Primal Species', In 1997, she was cast in the breakthrough role of Lovita Alizé Jenkins-Robinson in the second season of 'The Steve Harvey Show', for which she earned three 'NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series' in 2001-03.

Ryan Farr is a chef, butcher, entrepreneur, author, and educator. In 2009, with immeasurable help from family and friends, he founded San Francisco’s 4505 Meats, an artisan whole-animal butchery company devoted to sustainable practices. Dedicated to flavor and quality, and with a strong commitment to supporting the local food community, 4505 Meats sold handmade sausages, grass-fed burgers, their signature 4505 Chicharrones, and cuts of meat at the renowned Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market for over seven years.
In 2012, Ryan opened a whole-animal butcher shop in San Francisco's Mission District, sourcing animals from local farms and ranches. He also taught butchery and sausage-making classes and published two books: Whole Beast Butchery and Sausage Making (both from Chronicle Books).
4505 Burgers & BBQ, the company’s first restaurant, opened in 2014 near San Francisco's Alamo Square. The restaurant is equipped with one of the city’s last remaining historic wood-fired barbecue pits. In 2016, Ryan announced plans to open a second location of 4505 Burgers and BBQ in the Laurel District in Oakland, CA, which is slated to open in 2018.
Ryan's first product, 4505 Chicharrones, initially made in his apartment kitchen and sold to local bars, also gained popularity as the business grew. They became the first all-natural pork rinds to market with placement in Northern California Whole Foods locations and other Bay Area retailers. In 2016, 4505 expanded distribution of their flagship product and today you can find 4505 Chicharrones in over 6,000 retailers nationwide.
