You are doing evangelism all wrong; you are pushing people further away.

How do Christians who share their faith in the general public answer the above statement?

Here is how Tommy, Joe, and Melanie discussed

  • Well, please show me how you witness people. Stay humble and see what they say.
  • Understanding what you are doing intimidates some believers; they fear people.
  • Our culture is pressing the Christian church into its model of don’t offend or disagreeing with anybody. If you do, you are hateful. However, the Bible shows a different way.
  • What am I doing wrong?
  • How am I pushing people away?
  • In your opinion, what is the best way to evangelize?
  • Some people believe you have to earn a person's right to be heard. (friendship evangelism)
  • How can I push a person away from God when they are dead in sin? (Eph 2:1-3)
  • Can you explain to me what the Great Commission is as commanded by Jesus? Matt 28:19-20, Acts 1:8 and etc. Luke, John, and Mark
  • Why did Jesus send out his disciples on two mission trips?
  • What does Paul say in Romans 10:14-17?

Show them in scripture the way the Christians did evangelism in the Bible.

Paul In the market place Act 17:16-17,

Don't forget to use the K.N.O.W. acronym when witnessing to unbelievers.

Knowledge claims or morals where do they coming without the Christian God

Not on my worldview remind them they cannot rob from the Christian worldview to hold up their inconsistent worldview

Open up their worldview to show the inconsistencies and arbitrariness

Weave it back to the Gospel

Using this acronym allows you to ask a lot of questions. Gives you the opportunity to review what they believe to show their inconsistencies. While weaving it back to the truth that will set them free from their sin. (John 8:32) Hope this helps you to go out and witness with boldness.

Here are the points we discuss:

  • Where is the outrage over this statement that was shared at one of our Ivy league schools.
  • In the world we live in the majority can’t even say this is wrong because it is not politically correct.
  • The bible addresses this head on. Murder is sin.

Questions we asked Angela:

  • They say we verbally attack the women. Did you see that?
  • They we could be there to potentially harm them. Did you see that?
  • They say that sometimes we block the driveway trying to prevent cars from going in. Did you see that?
  • What did you experience your first time out at the abortion mill?
  • Why does the Christian church as a whole need to experience what was is going on there?
  • How has this motivated you to be bolder for your faith and a voice for the voiceless?
  • What is the difference between the pro life movement and ending abortion. Please watch this documentary

Tune in to hear the sermon by brother Tommy Waltz on Acts 17. (Held at Christ Our Hope Church in Lyndhurst, NJ).

[Sermon Notes]

Our Four Main Questions:

  1. What does Acts reveal through repeated terms?

  2. Universal Truth: Acts 3:15 & Acts 17:24-34

  3. Resurrection: Acts 17:32: “Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked.
But others said, “We will hear you again about this.”
  4. Persecution: Acts 5:40: “and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged
them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.”
  5. Prayer: Acts 4:29 “And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to
continue to speak your word with all boldness,” Not protection but to give boldness.

  6. What we should expect?

  7. If they hate Jesus they are going to hate you.

  8. Religious people may be mad or even jealous of you
  9. People will lie about you and try to turn people against you if you are bold for Jesus

  10. What we should share?

  11. Acts 17:24-25: He does not dwell in temples nor is He worshipped with mans hands like He needs
    anything.

  12. God needs nothing from you.
  13. He resurrected out of the
    grave.
  14. Acts 17: 26: Man – God gave you life in a certain time in history and place you where you are on
    planet earth
o V27 Seek after him He is not far away
o V28 Relate to what they know
o V 29 Divine nature is not like metal, gold, or silver of man’s devising
  15. Law breaker Exodus 20
  16. Acts 4:29: “And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,” The whole book of Acts is about proclaiming this. Death, burial, and resurrection. Not just repentance and but also faith Acts 19:4-5 “And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” John baptism believe on the one to come. – repentance. Jesus baptism- faith
  17. Regenerational response- Vs. 30,31 accountability of repentance because of coming judgment,
  18. Repentance and faith. Confidence in this because of His resurrection

  19. How we should live?

  20. We should be bold followers of Jesus who are ready for whatever God allows to happen to us.

  21. Questions
o What do you mean by that?
o How did you come to that conclusion?
o What type of religious background do you have?
o What happens after you die ?
o Where do morals come from?
o WDJD Would, Do you know, One judgment, Does it concern you?

  1. What are your preconditions for intelligibility?

  1. Because you are out of the normal rhythm of life take some time to pray, fast, and seek the Lord and your family.
  2. Take this time to share the gospel because everybody is thinking about brevity and the fragile balance of life. Something like this exposes us to how weak and dependent we are as humans upon the one true God.

We have all gone to them, family reunions and had to put up with crazy cousins and a list of peoples idiosyncrasies that we really don't deal with but once or twice a year. However, what do we all know about family reunions? Everybody there has something in common; the last name and they are all family.

I am going to share what the entire human race has in common life. Life is truly intelligible.

Here are three points we are going to cover

  1. Life is screaming at you that there is purpose, meaning, and hope. He is a self- attesting God and He gives preconditions for intelligibility.
    1. What does it mean for God to be self-attesting? God testifies about himself because He is the only person who is eternal and unable to be corrupted by sin.
    2. What do I mean by intelligible? That life can be understood and comprehended because God put things in place to give us a platform to observe from.
  2. He gave preconditions which allowed us the ability to exist physically. These preconditions are:
    1. Time- In the beginning
    2. Space- God created the heavens
    3. Matter- and earth
  3. Exposing inconsistencies within other worldviews

Engaging the Holy Bible to allow it to change you and other

We will discuss a three-step process that will help you engage the text. You may either be a preacher or someone wanting more tools to grow in your devotional life.

Step 1 Prayer- Ask the Lord to show which text God wants you to use.

Step 2 Illustration-   Everyone getting into the festival needs a ticket to get in. Use the illustration and take the text through this four-part grid.

  • Creation – Fall- Redemption –Response

Step 3 Go- Preach the text until the Lord is done with you.

We will also discuss the three process of engaging in open-air preaching.

Step 1- Engaging preaching will disengage just for a moment to call out to people in order to re-engage to reach more people. Why do we do this? In order to allow someone’s worldview to be exposed in hopes that more will be drawn in that believe the same.

Step 2- Announce what they believe to the people walking by in order to get them involved.

Step 3- Take the people who have gathered through the text the Lord has given you.

  • Creation – Fall- Redemption –Response
