Saturday Night at WinCon our college pastor, Wes Smith, preached from Romans 8:31-39 about four truths that we can cling to: God is for us, God is generous, No one can condemn us, No one can separate us from God's love.
Saturday Morning of WinCon, we had our very own Josh Ferguson preach from Romans 8 to show how we fight by the Spirit through God's power to defeat lies in our mind and to put to death the flesh.
Friday Night at WinCon this year, we had Rich Bowman preaching from the first two verses of Romans 8. He showed that through Christ, we are free from the penalty of sin and free from the power of sin.
Wes Smith preaches from Hebrews 13:11-14 at our final SC United of the year about Jesus calling us outside the camp in order to sacrifice parts of our life for the gospel.
Our HBCU Director, Charles Holmes preaches from Mark 11 about the marginalized in the temple as Jesus comes to cleanse it. This is tied to the marginalized in society and how Jesus approaches, welcomes and loves all who are marginalized.
Our College Pastor, Wes Smith, preaches from John 11 about the disappointment that Mary and Martha felt when Lazarus died. Wes connects this with the disappointment that each person feels at some point in their lives and the way that Jesus approaches us in those moments.
Our Discipleship Pastor, Josh Ferguson, preaches from the passage of the great banquet in Luke 14. He speaks on the greatness of the banquet that the Lord offers us and the apathy of those that often see the world as more pleasing than what the Lord has to offer.
Wes Smith preaches a powerful message about the beauty of the good life following the one and only shepherd at our first SC United of the year. He unpacks the truth of where goodness comes from despite the world telling us otherwise.
In our final SC United of the year, Wes Smith brings us a message from 1 John 4:7-12 about what it looks like to be the Family of God according to Scripture through reflecting the love of God to others. We then hear from two students who have been deeply impacted by the love of different Family Groups in our ministry.
Elizabeth Hughes and Molly Smith led our students in a breakout talking the complexities of emotions and how to use them for God's glory and recognizing that they are a gift from our God who has emotions. They discuss the tension between how to process emotions and not be ruled by them.
Yana Conner leads this breakout on the tension between caring for yourself and denying yourself through every day practical things such as taking the sabbath but also sacrificing certain aspects of our lives in order to have a more holistic healthy lifestyle.
In this interview we get to hear from two of our very own from the Summit College State team, Tanner & Sydney Powell, about God's call to move them to Myrtle Beach to reach Coastal Carolina. They will be going with a Summit Church plant with Tanner leading their college ministry.
Led by Julius Tennal, this breakout talks about tensions within God's character, namely that He is present and that He is powerful and how that plays out in the Christian faith.
The Discipleship Pastor of the Summit Church, Dave Turner, comes to teach us about the tension in our lives as Christians that we have about going deep with a few close friends and going wide with other believers in the church. He is joined by a panel of fellow members of the Summit Church to hear about their practical tips on how to do this.
Tanner Powell breaks down the tension between doing our duty as Christians and delighting in God. After he gives this talk he is joined by Logan Maloney and Amy Rogers to going into the more practical aspects of this tension.
Sarah from Mercy College tells the story of how she went from death to life while at UNCC and how the Mercy College community has loved her well through discipleship. She then details what God has been up to in her life today through her discipleship of others in her community and what God has for her next after graduation.

The tension of God's wrath and God's love is one that we all have thought about in our lives. In this breakout we hear from Pri about that tension and the implications of the side that we fall on when thinking about God.

This year at WinCon, we kicked it off Friday night by hearing from Josh Ferguson about the tension of being fed by the Word of God and being led by the Spirit of God.

Writer of the book, "Confronting Christianity", Rebecca McLaughlin, came to talk to the students of Summit College about the four things we need to do as Christians in order to live out our faith in the modern world while engaging in today's culture.
After Josh's sermon on Psalm 27 about being men of one thing: dwelling in the house of the Lord, Josh brings up two men of God that have walked through much of life and are known as men that know God deeply and personally, Rich Bowman (Summit Downtown Durham Associate Pastor) and Tony Diana (Summit Prison Campus Pastor). These two men outline what it looks like in their lives to spend time with the Lord and know Him intimately.
As we continue this year talking about "God's presence", Josh Ferguson brings a word from Psalm 27 for the men in Summit College about being men of one thing: to dwell in the house of the Lord and gaze at His beauty. We learned that to be men of one thing is what it really means to be men of God and ultimately, children of God.
Continuing with our theme of “God’s Presence” for the semester, the Summit College women learned about God’s presence with the humble in Scripture. Through Psalm 131 we learned where the root of pride comes from and how to identify it in our lives. We finally saw that the only way to fight pride in our lives is to put our hope in the only true humble one, Jesus.
