The Hereford manager Josh Gowling felt the clubs opening pre-season match against near neighbours Westfields proved to be an excellent start for the Bulls as they aim to build on the momentum gained last term.
Gowling selected a strong eleven for the first half against hosts Westfields at Allpay Park, before a triallist XI got their chance to impress after the half-time interval.
Hereford ran out 3-1 winners after a dominant first half performance.
Ben Pollock rose high above the Westfields defence to score his first goal for Hereford in the Bulls comfortable 3-1 win at Allpay Park.
It's taken the versatile player a considerable time in which to score for Hereford, but he was delighted to have played his part in what was an impressive opening half in the Bulls opening pre-season friendly of the 2021/22 season.
His downward header doubled the Hereford lead as early as the 13th minute as he swooped to score at the near post from a corner.
Pollock is keen to prove he has regained full fitness after an injury hit 12 months.
Immediately following the Bulls loss in the FA Trophy Final against Hornchurch at Wembley the Hereford boss Josh Gowling joined me.
He wanted his side to control the tempo of the game and went too direct at times, not securing possession of the ball enough.
However, had a second goal been secured in the first half Gowling felt Hereford would have "killed-off" Hornchurch.
The Hereford General Manager Jamie Griffiths was bitterly disappointed the Bulls couldn't produce a win at Wembley but insists the club will bounce back.
Griffiths said the FA Trophy Final defeat to Hornchurch had so many similarities with the loss to Morpeth five years previously. But Hereford used that as a platform for promotion and could be again next season.
The Hereford player-coach Yan Klukowski maintains the Bulls squad are very excited, but very focused and calm, ahead of their date with destiny at Wembley Stadium. This week has seen the Hereford squad put the finishing touches to their plans for Hornchurch in the FA Trophy Final with Klukowski bidding to make in two wins from two attempts having already been victorious with York City in 2017.
The Hereford central defender Jamie Grimes has been a stand-out player for the Bulls this season but he insists the squad is primed and ready to go ahead of their FA Trophy Final clash against Hornchurch. The match at Wembley will complete a protracted pandemic hit campaign, but Grimes is sure the squad are ready and raring to go.

His prompting and probing has been instrumental in the Bulls charge towards the National Stadium and he's hoping to add to his goal tally in the competition.
Reaching Wembley after his first full season in charge certainly pleased the Hereford manager Josh Gowling. However, despite overcoming Woking 1-0 in the FA Trophy semi-final at Edgar Street, Gowling insisted his squad have a lot of work to do ahead of the final against Hornchurch.

The Hereford assistant-manager Steve Burr was pleased with many aspects of the Bulls performance in today's pre-season friendly against TNS at Edgar Street.
Hereford completed a 2-0 victory against a strong New Saints side that are competing in the Europa League this season, and contain a host of experienced players with Football League experience.

Tom Owen-Evans grabbed Hereford a late point from the penalty spot in an action-packed encounter with Curzon Ashton at Edgar Street this afternoon.
Recalled by interim boss Josh Gowling, Owen Evans expressed his delight at being back at the club and felt the side had done more than enough with only ten men to at least gain a draw.

Hereford secured a point against Curzon Ashton in the Vanarama National League North this afternoon thanks to a late penalty scored by Tom Owen-Evans.
The Bulls had to play virtually two-thirds of the match with only 10 men after midfielder Ben Pollock was red-carded.
Gowling was quick to praise the players resilience and determination in fighting back to grab a draw - and had little to say about the replacement referee Liam Corbett after the original official Scott Simpson limped off with a muscle injury mid-way through the first half.

The Hereford goalkeeper Brandon Hall was quick to point to an improved defensive performance from the Bulls in their 0-0 draw with Guiseley at Edgar Street this afternoon.
Whilst acknowledging he was called into action on a couple of occasions when making fine saves, he felt the Hereford defence was far more secure than in some recent games.
Hall is now relishing the prospect of returning to former club Kidderminster for the first of the two scheduled local derbies on Boxing Day.

Hereford failed to build on two encouraging displays against Farsley Celtic and York City falling to a 0-2 defeat at the Tameside Stadium this afternoon.
Curzon won the match in the first half with a penalty awarded after the ball had allegedly struck the arm of captain Jared Hodgkiss in the box. This was followed up by a well taken goal by the Wigan Athletic loanee Charlie Jolly after hesitation by the Hereford defence - first by Jason Pope and then by Joradn Cullinane-Liburd.
Slade is becoming increasingly concerned by the Bulls lack of firepower and inconsistency in away games.

Taylor Allen scored and impressed in the Bulls 1-1 home draw with Farsley Celtic this afternoon. However, the wideman insisted Hereford should have won the game, with the players angry that referee Edward Duckworth eventually chalked off a second goal.
The Bulls side were all disgusted as a well executed goal from Alex Bray was denied in the 81st minute when Hereford would have gone 2-0 up.
Allen has seen his loan spell from Forest Green Rovers extended for a second month and enjoyed being fully influential in the Bulls attacking play.

The Hereford boss Russell Slade could hardly contain his disgust as he saw his new-look side denied a much deserved win over Farsley Celtic at Edgar Street this afternoon.
The Bulls went in front thanks to a Taylor Allen goal in the 67th minute and seemingly doubled their lead with just nine minutes left on the clock when substitute Alex Bray outpaced the Celtic defence before calmly slotting home. However, after initially awarding the goal, booking the Farsley goalkeeper, and sending off the Celtic boss Adam Lakeland, referee Edward Duckworth consulted with the linesman (who had not originally flagged for an infringement with Reece Styche offside but not interfering with play) and changed his decision, chalking off the Bulls' second goal.
To add insult Farsley then scored themselves in the 93rd minute with defender Jack Higgins appearing to be at least 3 yards offside in stoppage time.

The Hereford boss Russell Slade could not contain his disappointment as the Bulls exited the FA Trophy at the hands of King's Lynn Town at Edgar Street.
Despite working hard to earn a replay at the Walks in a nil-nil draw on Saturday, Hereford somehow conspired to concede two goals inside the first 7 minutes.
Peter Vincenti had a great chance to pull a goal back from the penalty spot after being fouled by Michael Gash in the box at the beginning of the second half but saw his effort tipped round the post by 'keeper Alex Street.
Finally Sonny Carey made the tie completely safe in the dying stages after substitute Ryan Hawkins strike was palmed out into his path.

Dawson was bewildered by a referee decision not to allow a cracking 35 yard strike to stand, instead calling the game back to the halfway line for a handball free-kick award.

The Hereford head coach Marc Richards remained in positive spirits despite a 1-0 reverse at Cinderford in the Bulls' second pre-season friendly of the summer.
The Bulls were undone thanks to a defensive mix-up. Hesitation by a triallist enabled Ethan Moore to pounce on the ball just outside the box before driving home a shot into the net for the only goal of the game for Cinderford in the 65th minute.
Hereford carved out plenty of opportunities to have won the match, with Rowan Liburd, Reece Styche and Tommy O'Sullivan all going close.
Richards is now looking forward to a 3-day "boot-camp" in Devon which will see Hereford take on both Yeovil Town and Bideford in two friendly matches in three days. The Glovers on Friday night and the Robins on Sunday afternoon.

The Hereford striker Rowan Liburd was close to securing a hat-trick in the Bulls opening 4-0 friendly win over Wellington this afternoon.
Liburd bagged a brace of goals after coming on as a half-time substitute and also went close on a number of occasions, notably when a shot struck a post from an acute angle. However, he was delighted to have "got off the mark" quickly ahead of the 2019/20 Vanarama National League North season.

His side lost 2-0 at Edgar Street and failed to end the campaign on the high note Richards was expecting.

Owen-Evans ended the campaign as the Bulls' top-scorer with 11 goals but could not add to his tally this afternoon.
A stormy, blustery day made conditions difficult for both sides but in the end Bostin looked comfortable after scoring a second goal from a penalty Owen-Evans thought was harsh.

However, Telford skipper Shane Sutton scored from close range to level the game just after the hour mark.

The Hereford midfielder Eliot Richards enjoyed a more central role in this afternoon's 1-1 draw with visiting AFC Telford.
Richards feels he is closer to full fitness after an injury interrupted season has somewhat curtailed his performances.
The ex-Bristol Rovers playmaker almost scored the winner in the second half, agonisingly watching on as goalkeeper Josef Bursik somehow finger-tipped a delightful chip away for a corner at full stretch.

The Hereford head coach, Marc Richards, accepted that the Bulls had chances to win the match at Haig Avenue against Southport this afternoon, but failed to take them.
Richards maintained the game boiled down to two pivotal moments.
"It cam down to two set-plays. They scored from their free-kick opportunity, and we've missed a penalty.
"I thought their free-kick delivery was the only piece of quality they displayed all afternoon. It was difficult in the wind, and the pitch was hard - definitely not a great spectacle.
"We had more opportunities to play than the lads displayed. We created a couple of good chances just after half-time but neither we clear-cut".

The Hereford skipper Josh Gowling admitted that a hard pitch and blustery conditions made life difficult for the Bulls in their narrow defeat at Southport this afternoon, but acknowledged it had been a below-par performance.
Hereford had chances, especially at the beginning of the second period, and when Tommy O'Sullivan blasted a penalty high over the crossbar late in the game.
"Conditions weren't great. The pitch was bobbly and the wind made it difficult to get the ball down and play.
"But, to be honest, we didn't play well at all, and we've let ourselves down.
"We've set our goals between now and the end of the season, and the gaffer has let us know that the display today simply wasn't good enough.
"The lads know it wasn't good enough and so we have to go again next Saturday".

The former Hereford legend Rob Purdie is looking forward to a "really competitive" testimonial match between a Hereford FC and Hereford United side on Sunday, 12th May.
Tickets are already selling well, but Purdie wants to raise as much money as possible for charities including the Adam Stansfield Foundation, and is hoping for at least a four-figure attendance.
The match carries a 1:30pm kick-off time to both enable the players to travel to Edgar Street from right across the country, and to ensure the pre-match hospitality is a success.

Marc Richards, the Hereford head coach, felt the Bulls created enough goal scoring situations at the Impact Arena against Alfreton to have picked up all three points.
"I think on chances we should have won the game. It was pretty competitive all over the park, but you could see the effect Saturday's poor defeat had on the Alfreton side who wanted to put that result behind them.
"We didn't reach the levels we showed in the second half against Stockport at the weekend, but we have come away with a one-all draw. It's another good away result.
"We had some good spells and with a bit more composure we could have scored more goals. But we didn't stamp our authority on the game to enable us to be as expansive as I want".

The Hereford skipper Josh Gowling insists the Bulls side needs to remain focused over the final weeks of the season.
Despite picking up a 1-1 draw at the Impact Arena, Gowling wants to see the club finish as high in the league as possible.
Hereford should have won the match as a number of chances went begging in the second period - notably a gilt-edged opportunity for Mike Symons which was drilled wide after good build up play by Rowan Liburd.
Gowling feels the squad are working well as group, but he already has an eye on next season.

The influential Kieran Thomas insisted Hereford deserved at least a point from today's pulsating match against promotion seeking Stockport County.
Thomas started the match in midfield, but a tactical switch saw him moved to right-back in the second period - a move that proved to be a positive one. Hereford then began to win many more second-phase balls, and kept possession much better than their opponents in a classic game of two halves.

The Bulls' new signing striker Rowan Liburd scored twice in a tremendous second-half fightback to earn a fully deserved point in an action-packed 2-2 draw with Stockport at Edgar Street.
Liburd scored both from close range using his instinct to be in the right place at the right time on both occasions.
He admitted Stockport had looked full value for their 2-0 interval lead but an inspired second period saw Marc Richards' side draw level.

"That's the best I've heard since I've been at Edgar Street. The noise levels were tremendous.

Smith hopes he will develop a good understanding with new signing Rowan Liburd but accepts this may take time.

The Hereford head coach Marc Richards expressed delight at the Bulls 2-0 victory at Spennymoor Town this afternoon.
However, this was not without some defensive lapses in the first period and it was not until the second half when Hereford proved to be solid at the back.
After a succession of Spennymoor chances, Hereford pounced to bag two goals immediately prior to the break. Lance Smith neatly and accurately finding the corner of the net after Kyle Finn had a shot saved by Matt Gould's legs. Then came the crucial goal when Tom Owen-Evans drilled home a spot-kick after being felled on the edge of the area.
Richards hopes this will be a platform to build on over the run-in and is looking forward to the challenge the Bulls face against promotion chasing Stockport County at Edgar Street next Saturday.

The Hereford defender Jordan Cullinane-Liburd felt the Saints earned their victory over the Bulls last night and accepted the visitors showed exactly why they are in contention for a play-off position come the end of the season.
However, despite losing 2-0 to Brackley the centre-half was quick to point towards the Bulls excellent recent form.
Points will need to be earned in the coming weeks but despite a series of tough looking fixtures he believes Hereford will come out on top.

The Hereford head coach admitted his side were beaten by a more effective Brackley Town team as the Saints secured a third win over the Bulls this season.
Richards' side showed much more ambition and attacking play than was seen in Saturday's narrow 1-0 win over Guiseley, but have much work to do if they are to match the efficiency of teams like Brackley.

The Hereford midfielder Tom Owen-Evans described today's performance against Guiseley as being "flat" but maintained the form of the side over the last 3 months has been positive.
The Bulls moved up to 16th in the table with this narrow 1-0 win over Guiseley, and now lie 12 points ahead of the drop zone at the foot of the Vanarama National League North.
Owen-Evans hopes to see further progress over the next few weeks as the matches against sides in an around the play-off places ought to inspire Hereford.

The Bulls winner this afternoon was scored by skipper Josh Gowling with ten minutes left on the clock.
However, it was a far from clean finish that won the match as Gowling explained.

"To be honest I thought the defender was going to head it and then he ducked out of the way, I don't think he knew I was behind him.
"Then I just chested it and I don't even know what happened after that but it ended up in the back of the net. I knew I had to get a touch on it in the end because I think he was going to clear it so I just got a nick on it at the end.
"It went in, I was fortunate."

"We've probably had games where we've been on the wrong end of the result but had a really good performance, so I suppose it's evened itself out.

"At this stage of the season, glad we got the result, but the performance levels were nowhere near where we have been.

The introduction of left-winger Kyle Finn appeared to transform Hereford as an attacking unit against Darlington at Edgar Street this afternoon.
His prompting and probing - at pace - disrupted a Quakers backline that had seemed resolute until he came on as a second-half substitute.

The Hereford striker Lance Smith snatched the fourth goal to defeat visiting Darlington at Edgar Street this afternoon, however, simply pulling on a Bulls shirt again was the main priority for the ex-Evesham marksman.
Smith has not played for Hereford since September and his spell on the sidelines has been gruelling. Indeed, he suffered a set-back on the comeback trail in December, and thought he may never get a chance in the side again, but today seemed almost scripted.

The Bulls scored four goals in the second period, and in truth could have scored many more, lifting the club up to 16th in the National League North.
Richards' side are now 9 points clear of the drop zone, and have a game in hand, but the coach insists he won't set the players an end-of-season points target. He says "I send a side out to win every game".

The Hereford striker Mike Symons described the late-late drama at Broadhurst Park as a "sucker-punch" as the Bulls finally had to settle for a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
"It was one of the most frustrating afternoons and its happened quite a bit recently, silly goals to concede.
"You don't mind if they score an absolute worldy, and get back in the game, but to do this via a deflected goal kills it. I thought the boys in defence did so well second half at times to be fair.
"It's gut-wrenching.
"We were sloppy the first ten minutes, I think everyone could see that, a bit sluggish in possession, but then until half time we were the better team, we created numerous chances and got ourselves back in the game.
"A couple of cut-backs, a couple of good blocks from them and the keeper has pulled off a super save from Tom Owen-Evans. Going in at half time 1-1 we thought we can could come out second half and win the game.
"Eliot's scored an unbelievable strike and then that's when we need to be a bit braver. We sat off a bit and that's where on the pitch we need to take a bit more responsibility, and keep doing what we're doing because it was working.
"They're going to cheat a bit more, because they've got nothing to lose. They kept more players forward and it was hard to press them high.
"In the end that sucker punch at the end to concede was gutting."

A late-late deflected free kick by the FC United of Manchester top-scorer and captain Kurt Willoughby cost Hereford the three points at Broadhurst Park with the match ending in a 2-2 draw.
There was nothing goalkeeper Matt Yates could do as the ball flew into the opposite corner, and he was as frustrated as the rest of the Bulls squad over the final score.
Having said that Yates was positive about recent results and the fact that Hereford are now building up a considerable gap between themselves and the bottom three.

The Hereford FC head coach Marc Richards was frustrated to see his side concede a late-late equaliser at Broadhurst Park against FC United of Manchester.
The Bulls had fought back after falling behind to an 11th minute goal from the former Hereford United striker Chris Sharp, but a Mike Symons equaliser followed soon after.
A wonder strike from Eliot Richards looked to have won the match for the Bulls, only for a wicked deflection from a Kurt Willoughby free-kick denied Hereford the three points.
Richards maintained, "If we were a bit more clinical, a bit more ruthless, then we could've gone 3-1 up."
"It would've stopped the momentum you saw that was coming in the last 10/15 minutes. It was a deflected free kick with the equaliser but we had a couple of good chances and we just didn't see them off.
"We defended well at times in the second half but it's frustrating in that it was the 90th minute when the equaliser went in."

The Hereford midfielder Tom Owen-Evans felt the Bulls should have "put the game to bed" by half-time, against Ashton United this afternoon. Indeed, he was annoyed he missed with a header in the 17th minute which fizzed over the crossbar.
A dominant 20 minute spell midway through the first half led to a series of chances which were spurned by Mike Symons, Eliot Richards and George Lloyd, whilst Josh Gowling had a close range effort cleared off the line.
So, overall then it was a frustrating afternoon for Owen-Evans and the travelling Hereford supporters who had hoped to see a victory, but the midfielder insists the continuation of the sides recent good away form and another clean sheet was "positive".

"I think overall we're frustrated, as we had enough chances to win the game.

The Hereford captain Josh Gowling put in another man-of-the-match performance in the Bulls' 2-2 draw at Leamington this afternoon.
He feels there is still more to come from a young and developing squad, and he's keen to help push the side on to greater heights in the weeks ahead.
"Our away form is picking up now, we're starting to move up the table and we're getting a bit more confident which is the main thing," he said.
"There's expectations from the fans especially at this club, I was here when we were in League One so I know what the expectations are like.
"We want to kick on and we are slowly, we're getting there. Results are getting better, we're getting more confident. We're finding our strengths and the inter-play with each other is improving."
"There's been a lot of changes this season within the club, but we're getting it together now, and it's looking better."
"It's a young squad and when you've got a young squad it's all about confidence. When over the Christmas period we got some results people didn't expect us to, it just gives you that belief and a lift.

Marc Richards, the Hereford head coach was quick to praise his sides resolute and industrious performance at the New Windmill Stadium against Leamington this afternoon.
Despite taking the lead twice, the Bulls were pegged back and had to settle for a creditable 2-2 draw at the final whistle.
The pivotal moment of the match was arguably a straight red card for the Bulls on-loan striker James Waite, who seemed on the wrong end of a harsh sending off when he was handed an early bath in the 51st minute.
"The boys were solid for the upmost today, a soft penalty for us and for them I thought, so it's just one of them. At 2-1 up you're hoping you can hang on but in the 84th minute their second went in.
"At times I thought we defended well, sloppy for their goal, the first one. Then the sending off has probably changed the game a little bit".

The Cardiff City youngster James Waite proved to be the catalyst for an excellent Hereford fightback at York City last night.
His accurate 80th minute spin-and-strike from inside the penalty area proved to be the matchwinner, but his energy and effervescence kick-started the Bulls after coming on as a substitute at half-time.

Danny Greenslade was delighted with his third goal for Hereford in the last eight games, but acknowledged the Bulls had to improve after a poor first half-showing at York City's Bootham Crescent.
His direct free-kick levelled the match in the 77th minute as the full-back's well-struck shot squirmed under the diving body of goalkeeper Adam Bartlett.
This proved to be a catalyst for increased attacking intent from Hereford who picked up all three points thanks to a superbly finished debut goal for Jamie Waite three minutes later.

After the Bulls turned the match at York around, achieving a 2-1 victory after falling behind as early as the 9th minute, coach Marc Richards was quick to praise the Hereford travelling support.
"I have to say a massive thank you to the away fans, I thought they were absolutely superb. It was absolutely chucking it down here and you could hear them all through the game and the lads showed their appreciation at the end.

Hereford lost 2-1 at home to Curzon Ashton in the National League North this afternoon, and although head coach Marc Richards praised some of his sides attacking play, he felt let down by a succession of missed chances.

The Hereford striker Mike Symons admitted he felt he had lost concentration on two set pieces which cost the Bulls goals against Nuneaton this afternoon.
Nuneaton capitalised and went into a 2-1 lead, prior to Tom Owen-Evans levelling things up from the penalty spot.
A much better second half showing ensured Hereford got back in the game but Symons accepted the performance was much lower that had been achieved in previous weeks.

Midfielder Tom Owen-Evans picked up the sponsors Man-of-the-Match award at Edgar Street this afternoon against visiting Nuneaton Borough but was disappointed as his side only achieved a draw against a side rock-bottom of the Vanarama National League North.
Owen-Evans scored after a mistake by the Boro' goalkeeper Cameron Belford in the first half, but had to drill home a spot-kick under pressure to secure a point in a largely lacklustre performance.

The young Derby County goalkeeper Matt Yates helped Hereford gain a valuable three points against promotion chasing Chester at Edgar Street this afternoon.
As was the case against Kidderminster Harriers on Boxing Day, Yates made a couple of vital saves to thwart Chester in the Vanarama National League North this afternoon and was delighted to have chalked up another clean sheet.
However, he was quick to point to a rock-solid defence which appears to have improved substantially with the arrival of the experienced Josh Gowling.

The Hereford striker Mike Symons joined me immediately after the Bulls picked up their fifth straight home victory thanks to a 2-0 win over Chester, and was quick to highlight the 'togetherness' of the squad.
His return to the side following a broken leg in pre-season has proved to be a major catalyst in the clubs recent improvement, however, he believes there is more to come from a hungry group of players.
Symons bagged the killer goal mid-way through the second half, after Danny Greenslade had put the Bulls in front with an accurate rasping drive in the first period.

The Bulls Head Coach Marc Richards joined me after the final whistle yesterday and was delighted having seen his side defeat Kidderminster at Edgar Street.
"It's a great result, would I have taken a one-nil win? Yeah all day long before today," said Richards.
"Performance-wise we weren't quite as good in spells as we were at Bradford, it's funny how it works out.
"To come away with a 1-0 win is fantastic, so I'm really pleased."
"I thought it was a definite penalty and not too dissimilar to the one Symons got here two weeks ago, just a two hand push in the back," added Richards.

"It was a tough afternoon I'm not going to lie."
"Brilliant to get the three points after last week. Give credit to Kidderminster, they're a good footballing side. You can tell their full time, they're fit boys, they work on their shape and work on getting into good areas. I thought that they were good, it was a good afternoon and a good battle.
"We kept ourselves in the game and the boys put in an absolute shift, we got the decision at the end and fair play to James (Roberts) for standing up, slotting it away and those three points are massive for us at the moment.
"In recent weeks we've been playing well and it was nice to get three points in the league."

Billericay Town crashed out of the FA Trophy this afternoon, losing 2-1 at Edgar Street against Hereford in the 1st Round, with boss Dean Brennan insisting his sides performance fell below the standards they have set themselves in recent weeks.
After beating Bath City on Tuesday, Brennan was hoping for another determined and disciplined effort from the same set of players, but gave credit to the home side.
Town lost the match despite taking an early lead from Ross Lafayette, with the Bulls securing passage through to the 2nd Round stage thanks to a well struck Tom Owen-Evans penalty and a late winner from George Lloyd.

Young striker George Lloyd enjoyed the plaudits after grabbing a late winner for the Bulls in this afternoon's 2-1 victory over Billericay Town in the FA Trophy, but was quick to praise the efforts of his team-mates.
Lloyd ghosted in at the far post to snatch Hereford's second goal but thought he could have scored a hat-trick had he taken all the opportunities that had come his way.

The Hereford head coach Marc Richards was delighted by his sides comeback victory over Billericay Town in the FA Trophy today.
The Bulls fell behind to an early Ross Lafayette, but rallied to win 2-1 courtesy of a Tom Owens-Evans penalty before half-time, and an 82nd minute winner from George Lloyd.
Hereford now progress to the Second Road which will be played on Saturday, 12th January with the draw being made on Monday.

Symons scored the opener, and was fouled in the box for the last minute penalty, converted by James Roberts, but felt the whole teams' efforts deserved the win against a robust and at times physical Alfreton side.

The Hereford Head Coach Marc Richards feels there is still a lot of work required to make the Bulls truly competitive in the National League North, but was pleased to get a first victory under his belt today.
Hereford dominated for long spells to run out comfortable 3-1 victors in the end, but had to fightback after being a goal down after just 15 minutes.
However, with Mike Symons leading the attack so effectively Hereford scored three second half goals to go through to the next round of the FA Trophy.
"It's great to get a win on the board, it's just a pity it's not the three points being an FA Trophy game," said Richards.
"That elusive win is the monkey on your back that you want to get off. The boys have pulled through in the second half and put it a good second half performance.
"Credit to the lads, there's a lot of new faces that have come in and it does take time. Hopefully it can just be the catalyst that can kickstart the season."

Roberts said, "We're really disappointed we didn't win. Of course, it was really good to score in front of the home fans as well, it's a fantastic feeling, but we're disappointed overall that we haven't gone and got the three points because at the end of the day that's the most important thing".
Next up are two more games at Edgar Street against FC United of Manchester and then Southport. Roberts aims to secure a maximum return.
"It has to be six points," maintained Roberts. "Had we got three points today the story would have changed a bit, but now solely in our minds we know we've got to win those games and we're focused on that".

The Hereford FC Head Coach, Marc Richards, was delighted his players "worked their socks off" when gaining a point at Telford last night.
"Away from home in this league is extremely, extremely tough, the first fifteen minutes probably showed that," Richards said.
"But then we settled down a little bit and created a couple of chances. We didn't have the balk of possession tonight but away from home against a very good team is a good result.
"They (Telford) are in a good run of form at the moment, doing well, they nicked a late winner on Saturday and so are full of confidence.
"Our back line were excellent, but look at George Lloyd and James Roberts up top too with the work rate they showed".

“There were some really pleasing aspects of our performance, but I'm obviously gutted about the result," Richards said.
“You never want to come into a game and not get what you wanted out of it, but I think a point would’ve been a fair result based on the performance. If we’d have taken our chances, maybe even a reversed result.
“There’s some really pleasing signs from the new signings, from some of the stuff we’ve been working on on the training ground, so that’s really pleasing".

Derby County loanee Ethan Wassall played a full part in securing Hereford a point on his debut in senior football on Saturday at Edgeley Park.
The Bulls lined up in a 3-5-2 formation, with Wassall in a back three with Ryan Green and Harvey Smith but was not overawed by the occasion. "It was comfortable today", he said following the match.
"I did alright, it was my first game in men's football and I really enjoyed it. The lads got behind me, they helped me through it and the fans were brilliant. Everyone deserves if not one point, three - brilliant day all round.
The role has become a more famiar one for Wassall in the Derby County U-23 set up, "At the start of this season we started going into a back three more so I'm quite comfortable with it. Usually I played in the middle, but I'm happy to play on the right, left, anywhere to help the team".

Harvey Smith led Hereford out as captain for the first time against Stockport County on Saturday, and not only led from the front but scored the Bulls goal from a set piece.
"It was a tough place to come, Stockport away. I think they had more than 3,000 here.
"They had long spells of possession, we had to defend, we had to dig in but, to be fair, the lads stuck at it and we're pleased with a point."
Smith captained the side, which is unusual given he is a loan player.
"It was a proud moment for me and I'm pleased that the gaffer has trusted me for that.
"At the back you always need to be communicating, lots of talking, making sure we are covered in all areas, we're not leaving ourselves exposed.
"We were under some pressure at times and maybe had to go a little old-school maybe towards the end a little bit just to clear our lines.
"Mark Richards wants us to get the ball down and play when we can.
"We would like to control games a little bit more but you come to a place like this and it's difficult to dominate them for possession."

The Hereford FC Head Coach Marc Richards praised a battling performance from the new-look Bulls' side that fought out a 1-1 draw with Stockport County on Saturday.
Richards thought the two Derby County loanees, goalkeeper Matt Yates and centre-back Ethan Wassell were both outstanding.
"Very, very delighted with the performance," said Richards.
"The boys have taken on board what we've tried to put in place over the last ten days. Obviously gutted not to come away with three points, but we were defending for long spells of the game and unfortunately I've just watched in back then and it was probably a hand ball.
"We'll take that though, a point away at Stockport County."
"It's baby steps, it's trying to come in and try and concentrate on what we can fix immediately, and what we need to look at it terms of how we're going to improve," he added.
"There will be changes as we go along in terms of how we do things both in and out of possession, but in the short space of time that we've had with them they've really taken on board some of the information which is the most pleasing thing.

The new Hereford FC Head of Football, Tim Harris, is demanding rapid change at Edgar Street. Speaking after his sides 0-3 defeat at Chester on Tuesday night it appears obvious the playing staff will soon take on a new look.
"Where we currently sit at this moment in time, I've said to the players then, things have to change," said Harris.
"You can't keep putting in performances like that and expect to win football matches.
"If you're giving goals away like we're giving goals away then you're not going to stand a chance. If you get players sent off then that just makes it doubly difficult.
"We've got a lot of work to do in a short space of time."

Jordon Cullinane-Liburd admitted it was tough playing against Spennymoor this afternoon.
Wednesday nights exploits in the FA Cup were quickly dashed at Edgar Street in a 3-0 defeat. However, the effort put in against Truro may have played a part in a below par showing claimed the Bulls captain.
"Many of the team had played the whole 120 minutes on Wednesday and we found it difficult. Going down to ten men certainly didn't help either and so we had to press harder as a team against the extra man.
"It wasn't the performance we wanted after our positive result in midweek".

The interim Hereford player-manager Ryan Green provided a frank assessment of the Bulls display against Spennymoor Town this afternoon.
Speaking immediately after Hereford lost 0-3 at Edgar Street the experienced 37-year-old said, "It was a bad day at the office, to go one-nil down to an individual error and then going down to ten men just killed us off to be honest".
"We weren't at the races today and there's no excuses. I don't think they (Spennymoor) broke sweat to be honest, they were organised and good on the counter-attack," Green continued.
"They were fully deserved winners. Their number nine was a good player, good in the air, good finisher. They ran non-stop all over, they looked comfortable".

"The first ten minutes we were absolutely on fire, I thought there was only one winner at that point, but as soon as they scored it looked like we crumbled a little bit.
"To be honest with you we weren't at the races, we were trying things too much that didn't work off. The lads gave me 100% and I can't ask for nothing more, it's just one of them days.
"We've got a few injuries and suspensions, it's been a hard week for everyone because everyone liked Beads and Jenks, myself on behalf of the team wants to wish them all the best in the future, they've been brilliant, they've done a great job and can leave with their heads held high as legends. We wish them luck as a team.
"First ten minutes there's only one winner, and then the second goal was too easy. We tried to force too many things and nothing paid off. If I scored my header which hit the crossbar the game changes, it's about fine margins.
"We've got to get confidence in the lads, it's been a tough week with Beads and Jenks leaving, we've just got to keep their heads up and keep everyone happy."

Hereford have been drawn against Truro City in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round of this years competition.
The match will take place at Edgar Street on Saturday, 22nd September and so what better excuse do our intrepid duo Frank Williams and Simon Wright need to "Go Down the Pub" and look ahead to the tie.
Both teams will be keen to make progress in the competition, but what are the thoughts of Frank & Simon as Hereford have lost a little impetus in the National League North in recent weeks.
Are Peter Beadle's men good enough to despatch their Cornish opponents, or will there be a cup upset?
The Hereford boss Peter Beadle spoke after an incident packed game at Brackley as his side not only failed to pick up a point but also saw both Eliot Richards and Calvin Dinsley sent-off.
This was a surprisingly ill-disciplined and disjointed Hereford performance and worryingly the Bulls could have lost by more than the final 2-0 scoreline.
"Incidents change games but up until the first incident, the goal, I thought we were well in the game. We're away, we're against a team that won the trophy last year and got to the play-off final. They're no mugs. They're just hitting a decent run of form at the moment, so it was never going to be a turn up and roll them over, they weren't going to roll over and die.
"Incidents change games, and like that first one with Ryan [Green], the lad threw a blatant elbow. I've just seen it on the video, but the linesman who was two-yards away said he didn't see it. And the referee also said that he didn't see it either.
"After that people fall asleep, Billy [Murphy] loses his runner and the lad runs through and gets a clear shot on goal. But it's a foul, at the end of the day it's a foul.
"We didn't look as fluent, a little bit disjointed at times and then you have the second incident where Eliot gets sent off. Again, the referee feels that the six's was more of an act of aggression rather than violent conduct, that's why he only got a yellow and says Eliot stamped on the six. Eliot says he was falling over and didn't deliberately stamp on him, so we'll need to have another look at the video to see properly. Unfortunately the one here isn't good enough to see it.
"That could also change the game when we went down to ten men."
Right at the end of the game substitute Calvin Dinsley also saw red after a blatant head-butt on full-back Ellis Myles.
"And then right in the 90th minute, Dins. You can't condone it, you can't stick up for him because it's a foolish thing to do. Now we're going to be without him for three games, and probably Eliot for three games as well.
"So we're going to miss two key players for three games".

Mike McGrath secured a point for Hereford against York City at Edgar Street this afternoon thanks to a left-footed volley which appeared to deceive the former Bulls goalkeeper Adam Bartlett.
In his post-match interview McGrath conceded. "I kind've got under it and may have taken some pace off the ball, but it went through a defenders legs and had enough on it to beat the keeper.
The Hereford midfielder feels he is now regaining strength and full fitness after a long injury lay-off.
"I'm just happy to have got the shot off to be fair as maybe a few weeks ago I wouldn't have even taken the shot on because of my previous ankle injury.
"Two losses in-a-row before today has been disappointing but we haven't been outplayed either at Chorley or against Bradford last week so there is definitely more to come from us".

The Hereford boss Peter Beadle maintains his side have had a "steady start" and deserve to be in contention at the top half of the table. This after his side fought back to draw 1-1 with promotion candidates York City.
"We've had two defeats against the two teams that are top of the table, we've played another one today and taken a point. We've had a steady start and we're happy with it.
"We know there's more to come and we're going to get better as we go along and we know when everyone's fit there's going to be some competition there.
"We more than matched what many people still do have down as their favourites to win this division.
"They're full time and there's been lots of rumours about the budget that they spend. Today they've had one shot on target, one shot wide and that was it. We've had the upper hand in lots of areas of the pitch and we've had some very good chances.
"We finished the strongest so that says a lot about how well we've done today".

The Hereford captain Jordan Liburd wants to see a more focused and determined approach from his side in future, after the Bulls lost 2-1 at home this afternoon.
"This wasn't the perfomance we wanted. I feel both [Bradford Park Avenue] goals could have been prevented.
"Although to be fair, the opening goal has gone in off the players thigh, but he still shouldn't have been free at the near post.
"We've switched off and been punished. We showed fight to get back into it late on, but maybe we need to go all-out from the start next week [against York City].
"Hopefully this will spur on the lads, and with competition for places someone could come in and seize the opportunity".

The Hereford boss Peter Beadle insists he's "not going to panic" after his side suffered its first home defeat in the Vanarama National League North this afternoon.
The Bulls lost 2-1 to Bradford Park Avenue despite a late fightback once Harry White converted a penalty after Jamie Bird had been felled in the box.
Bradford look a solid, well organised unit and Beadle admitted, "We couldn't get anything going, any momentum, any fluency. Last week I thought we played ever so well up until the final third, but today it just didn't happen and it's hard to put your finger on it.
"We lacked that cutting edge in the final third. We needed more bodies in the box, sometimes like today it's gone behind everybody or in front of everybody. Another day it rolls straight to somebody's foot and they tap it in, but today it wasn't to be."

The Hereford striker Mike Symons hit the back of the net twice in last night's 4-0 win at Gosport Borough to hand the Bulls their 12th away win of the season.
His first after 13 minutes set Hereford on the way, whilst an almost carbon copy glancing header topped off another great all-round display in the 72nd minute with the final goal of the night.
"We've got a great group of players here, and competition for places is very tough. We have a really competitive edge" .
Symons is now looking ahead to the weekend clash with King's Lynn.
"The lads have been waiting for this one. We're all going to be up for it, and if we play like we did against Weymouth and be ruthless in front of goal I'm sure we will reap the rewards".

Hereford kept a clean sheet for the sixth match in a row, and but for a cracking display from the Borough keeper Patrick O'Flaherty could have won by a cricket score.

Myrie-Williams was delighted with the reaction to his rasping 30-yard goal which rocketed into the back of the net past Will Dennis.

Keyon Reffell scored the Bulls late-late winner against Biggleswade this afternoon, and insists the squad are concentrating on winning the Southern League title.
"We are 100% focused on winning the league. We're not looking at the play-offs. Lifting the title is our main aim."
Reffell insisted Biggleswade had purely come to defend, "They came with a game plan and sat back for most of the game.
"In the end we got the win which was the main thing.
"It's definitely my goal. It cam off Eliot's head and come off me before going in the corner, so I was happy with that!"

The Hereford midfielder Rob Purdie believes today's 1-0 win over Biggleswade could prove to be a "massive" victory.
Keyon Reffell's stoppage time winner ensured the Bulls now lie just one point behind leaders King's Lynn in the Southern League Premier Division, but Hereford have three games in hand.
"If you get an early goal against teams like Biggleswade, that come with a specific game plan to stifle, it can kill them off. But we didn't today and it is something we need to work on.
"Maybe we need to push on earlier and get more bodies in the box, but we know that, and we will try to ensure we're fully equipped to deal with teams that come and play like this".
"I fancy us to have a cushion lead at the top by the end of February, early March. But we need to make sure we don't rely on late goals every time!"

The Hereford boss Peter Beadle insists the Bulls deserved to beat visiting Biggleswade 1-0 thanks to an injury time winner from Keyon Reffell.
After the match he maintained, "We deserved to win the game with the amount of pressure, possession, chances and everything else.
"The lads attitude was brilliant today, but it wasn't a vintage performance. Biggleswade certainly made it difficult for us.
"We kept going right until the end and we've shown we've got a never say die belief in ourselves. We showed it at Slough and our squad all know they have what it takes to win and that's what pleases me".

The former Solihull Moors and Rushall Olympic defender Jordan Cullinane-Liburd made his home debut for Hereford this afternoon.
The Bulls ran out victors by three goals to nil over Banbury, with Cullinane-Liburd once again at the heart of the Bulls' back line.
Speaking after the game the defender looked back on another clean sheet, "They knew their strengths and tried to play the ball up to the front but we dealt with it well. We stayed strong and did what we needed to do."
He accepted that there will be competition for places in the Hereford back-line but is relishing the challenge.
"Competition is always good. It makes sure everyone always plays at their best. That'll benefit the team."

Because of a flu bug that decimated the Bulls' squad ahead of their Southern League Premier Division match at Dorchester, midfielder Calvin Dinsley was drafted in as a central defender, a position he had never featured in before.
After Hereford secured a 1-0 win, extending their unbeaten away league run to 53 matches, Dinsley revealed he had been "surprised" with the news he was not only in the match-day squad, but also the fact he was named at centre-half.
"I'd never played there before but you get thrown in and have to do the job for the team, and I thought everyone played well".
"These are the sort of results that help you win the league. The chips were down and we could easily have come here and made excuses".

The Hereford match-winner Lance Smith felt that given the circumstances leading up to the game, the victory over Dorchester was "one of the biggest wins of the season".
His far post header from a John Mills cross proved to be the vital goal on a very heavy playing surface.
"It was a great cross and I was in the right place. I just wanted to get a good connection on it and by heading it down towards the floor there is more chance of it going in.
"The pitch wasn't the best and we couldn't get the ball down and play as much as we like to and had to hit the channels, and make the best of a bad situation."
Smith has now scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Bulls since joining the club in the summer from Evesham United.

Goals from Eliot Richards, John Mills and Mike Symons ensured Hereford became the first side to gain a victory at Kettering in the Southern League this season.
Indeed Kettering had not conceded more than one goal to any team at Latimer Park before tonight and yet Hereford went toe-to-toe with their opponents right from the kick-off.
Beadle was quick to stress the importance of the character, commitment and quality of his entire squad as there are likely to be many more of these important battles in the months ahead.

The Hereford boss praised his squad after defeating Vanarama National side Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Trophy this afternoon.
"We were excellent today, from the first minute until the last.
"After a huge effort on Thursday, both physically and emotionally, we needed to change things around a little.
"I have faith in the players here and although some haven't had much game time in the last few weeks they all put their bodies on the line, and dominated for long periods.
"We got the result we deserved this afternoon."
Hereford now face Kettering in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division on Tuesday.
"I've told the players it is imperative we maintain that level of performance in our league programme over the next few weeks."

The Hereford central defender Jack Deaman pulled no punches after the Bulls' victory over Basingstoke Town yesterday.
After scoring in the 4-1 victory, Deaman insisted the Hereford squad remain fully focused on their main goal of lifting the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League title despite the clubs progress in the FA Cup.
"The league is still our priority," he said.
"Everyone was switched on and knew exactly what was needed today."
"The Cup is an added bonus. It's great for the fans and it's great for the players, but we want to get out of this league, get another promotion under our belts and whatever comes our way in the cup, comes our way."

After the Bulls emphatic 4-1 win over Basingstoke Town in the Southern League Premier this afternoon the Hereford Assistant Manager Steve Jenkins praised his side.
"It was important to get that victory on the back of last weekend [in the FA Cup].
"It was a good performance on what could have been a difficult afternoon".
Hereford now look forward to an epic FA Cup tie Second Round replay against Fleetwood Town at Edgar Street on Thursday.

"I thought we showed fantastic character" said Beadle after the Bulls grabbed a well deserved draw.

"It was just a shame we couldn't hold onto the lead until half-time, but we were terrific. We have an inner strength and inner character. Let's hope we pack out Edgar Street for the replay."

The experienced Hereford midfielder felt beating Oxford City was "perfect" preperation for the Bulls FA Cup tie at Fleetwood Town next Saturday.
A composed and confident Hereford side reacted excellently to an early setback and over the course of the match definitely created the most clear-cut chances.
Purdie thought his side "adapted really well" to the artificial surface and deserved to progress to the 1st Round proper of the FA Trophy.
All eyes are next on the FA Cup with Purdie delighted to see "the winning mentality" within the Bulls dressing room. With a glint in his eye he believes Hereford will perform well at Fleetwood next Saturday, so anything could happen!

He believes the tie will be tough encounter but is confident Hereford can cause an upset, "It's only ten minutes down the road from me, and I know a few of the players there, and have played alongside a couple of them.

Tenbury were utterly outclassed in a 15-1 win for the Bulls, with Hereford fielding a very youthful side, and striker Jamie Cuss also returned after a long injury lay-off enjoying 30 minutes of action.
Adam Page (5), Lance Smith (4), Jamie Bird (2), George Hayes, James Hancocks, Mike Symons and a Sam Williams own-goal completed a record score for Hereford FC.

The Kings scored goals early in each half and looked to have beaten the Bulls 2-0 before an action-packed final 15 minutes saw Hereford race into a 3-2 lead. However, in the 98th minute the hosts claimed a point.
Beadle insisted "If I can make changes before Tuesday I will. The players here have to take responsibility. We got ourselves in a great position and then threw it away"
It has been a terrific week for Jimmy Oates. Firstly, he was named captain of Hereford ahead of their upcoming Southern League Premier campaign.
But not only that he scored the wining goal for the Bulls as they beat Stourbridge to win the HFA Senior Invitational Cup Final at Edgar Street on Saturday.
Oates insists the Hereford squad has great depth and are raring to go ahead of their opening league game at Kings Langley next Saturday.

After beating Northern Premier Division promotion hopefuls Stourbridge 1-0 at Edgar Street yesterday, the Bulls boss Peter Beadle praised his Hereford squad - especially for their second half performance.
The newly appointed Hereford skipper Jimmy Oates scored the winner with a near post header from a James Bowen corner in the 81st minute.
Hereford have therefore regained the HFA Senior Invitational Trophy after defeat to Merthyr in the corresponding fixture last season.
Beadle is now looking for the same tempo, shape and determination as the Bulls head to Kings Langley for the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division opener next Saturday.

The Hereford manager Peter Beadle was delighted by his teams performance in their 2-2 draw at National League South side Gloucester City.
Despite being up against higher-graded opponents, and without a number of key players due to injury and unavailability, the Bulls were somewhat unfortunate not to gain a win at the Jubilee Stadium.
"Credit to us," said Beadle. "I thought we played exceptionally well, especially in the first half, and even with ten men our performance was good.
"I thought it was a really competitive game and our best pre-season performance so far.
"I'm delighted for Harry Franklin. For a 17-year-old he played fantastically well, and showed tremendous character."
The Bulls went down to 10 men following a straight red card picked up by Garyn Preen in the second period.
Beadle accepted it was a "reckless challenge" by Preen, and hopes the referee will be true to his word "having dealt with" the situation on the night.
Despite losing heavily at Edgar Street to a confident and clinical looking Cardiff City XI, the Bulls boss Peter Beadle looked upon the match as an important one in his squads pre-season programme.
Hereford were unable to contain the Bluebirds whose rapid counter-attacks and composure in front of goal saw them run out victors with ease by the final whistle.

The Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle is delighted to be back on the training ground ahead of a busy list of pre-season friendlies .
A dramatic season saw the Bulls secure promotion to the Southern League South & West and bag a trophy treble, but the Hereford boss remains determined to continue to push the club further forward.
Hereford begin their warm up matches against Pegasus Juniors on Thursday 17 July.
At the training ground today he said, 'We've been planning pre-season for a few weeks now, and it's nice knowing we won't have to chop-and-change as much as we did this time last term.
'We can now really focus on the group and get some proper work done in the friendlies.
'We know much more about the Southern League than we did the Midland League, and hopefully we'll be more prepared this year than we were last. It's going to be a really tough season but we've got to be ready for it.'

The new Hereford FC player-coach Chris Barker hopes his experience can help the Bulls young squad develop following their promotion from the Midland Football League.
Barker, 36, linked up with the Edgar Street club last week as the club face another new challenge - this time in the Southern League South & West.
The central defender has already chalked up 655 first team appearances across an 18-year career, and featured in the Championship with Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers and Plymouth, but is keen to add many more games to that total.
Ahead of training this morning he insisted, "I feel I've got a lot to offer, on-and-off the field, and I hope to play in as many games as I can.
"Over the last couple of years I've played and taken my coaching badges and I was both assistant and then caretaker manager at Aldershot so I've learnt a lot.
"I'm looking to help the youngsters improve and put the club back where it belongs.
"I obviously know a lot about the club and staff, and I understand where the club want to go, and I want to be involved in that".
Barker picked up the last of two player-of-the-year awards as recently as 2010/11 with Southend United and is someone highly regarded by the Bulls' boss Peter Beadle.
"I believe Chris will bring a huge amount to the football club", maintains Beadle.
"He can play in a multitude of positions, he's still fit, and he's a player who the younger ones within the group can look up to and respect.
"Hopefully they can draw on his extra experience alongside Rob [Purdie] and Ryan [Green] who all offer something unique to the squad."

The Hereford FC groundsman Ben Bowen believes the Edgar Street pitch is now in a much better condition than this time last year.
Work began back on the 7th of May with the removal of the top surface and a newly relaid pitch installed.
This afternoon a delighted Bowen said, "We're into the seventh week of growth now, and during that time we've used three fertilisers and a growth regulator which has bulked the pitch out.
"The weather has been great. We've had four inches of rain in six weeks, and yet this time last year the temperature reached 35 degrees which absolutely ruined the pitch.
"This season we're trying to improve the root structure and I'm sure with the 90 tonne of top dressing we've put on we will get a better playing surface than last year.
"However, we still have issues with the lateral drains and so it remains an intense job getting it right."
