Writing & releasing 1 Single EVERY WEEK. Sync/Licensing -> contact.richardsteighner.com I'm a Singer and Beatboxer. I do a lot of a cappella, and I Produce pop. Also a cultural ambassador with the American Music Abroad program and performer with Freedom's Boombox.
A spur-jangling, horse-galloping, cowboy-whistling Western riding song. Ready-made for a Quentin Tarantino film š¤ š“ššµ Everything is a cappella (vocals + beatbox) and self produced. Part of a weekly song series where I make a new track and music video every Thursday. More at contact.richardsteighner.com or follow on social media.
Somewhere between Janelle MonƔe, Prince, and Beck, there's a far less talented artist (me) making a song about turning into a mess when you meet somebody. They called it twitterpated in Bambi, I called it Such A Wreck. Enjoy.
This is the 35th song in a song-a-week series I have going on. Each song is a cappella (beatbox and vocals only) and I produce it with a music video. That means I have 17 to go for a full year. Follow along for more or visit contact.richardsteighner.com for sync/licensing, all my social media, and press/booking.
LYRICS I remember the 4th of July when weād add a hundred stars to the midsummer sky. The words we were singing would fade into the night, but things have never felt the same. Iām finding it hard to put away the pride and all the simple things to which itās tangled up and tied. I told myself it mattered, but I think I must have lied. Itās funny how we play our little games. I think it might be time to make a change. I think it might be time to make a change. Pull away traditions and start with what remains. I think it might be time to make a change. Can you hear it howling outside? It takes a mighty storm to let the past finally die. Sitting at the station while the world is passing-by, swearing by my predecessorsā ways. Oh! I think it might be time to make a change. I think it might be time to make a change. Can we pull away traditions and start with what remains? I think it might be time to make a change. Oh, something isnāt right, now the people are a-talking. Breonna was a-sleeping. Elijah was a-walking. Something isnāt right, now our people are a-dying. Never more divided, the people are a crying: I think it might be time to make a change. I think it might be time to make a change. Can we pull away traditions and start with what remains? I think it might be time to make a change. I think it might be time to make a change. I think it might be time to make a change. Can we pull away traditions and start with what remains? I think it might be time to make a change.
The 33rd song in the song-a-week project. Something pertinent as we're all yelling at each other online. Everything in it is made with my voice (and beatboxing). I do this every week with a video. As with all my songs, for sync or licensing information, go to contact.richardsteighner.com
An Irish drinking song for my grandmother, who passed away a few days back. I hated writing something sad, so I didn't. It ought to only be sung with a drink in hand.
A continuation of the previous week's theme (my song America) wherein our children learn from what they see. What we do in this world leaves pieces behind, and others collect them. Along the way, we begin to see the world from the light those things cast. Like a bonfire of life souvenirs. Be conscious of what you say and do in this world.
Racism is alive and ugly in my country (and the rest of the world). This song (#30 in a song-a-week series) is written to white people, particularly in America. I agree with Kaepernick. I sympathize with the black community. I oppose police brutality writ large. But we must do more. "What can I say, what can be done?" is not a rhetorical line in the chorus. It is truly about speaking up and taking action. #blacklivesmatter
Watched an interview with Oak Felder and got mired into sounding like him. F that. He's incredible, and so am I! This track is a moving picture of what your heart looks like if it were a small house. The winds blow. The rains come. And you must welcome those you want, inside.
I find myself floating off to another planet from time to time. Thanks for helping me stay on the ground when I come flying by.
