Coaching advice for anyone returning to fitness training after break - whether that was caused by COVID or simply life events. Apply these insights to your own training and when joining in with your classmates to scale to YOUR current fitness appropriately. Your neighbor may have been deadlifting all break while you may have been doing pull ups for days ... you both need different 'return to training' paths. We often run into movement-based injuries when we do “too much too soon, after too little for too long.”

Essentially, when we perform an activity that exceeds our tissue’s capacity, it’s not uncommon to have a resultant increase in sensitivity or injury. In any return to sport protocol, the ultimate goal is to prepare the body and certain tissues for the stress that will be placed on them.
