Skip Ewing has a new song called Road Dog about his dog Shotgun, who likes to sit in the front seat, he called me last week to thank the station for playing the song. That's were it started and I realized I needed to talk to him and record the conversation. We talked about Road Dog and I brought up the song Would If I Could. I wanted to hear the "rest of the story" behind that gem. I brought up the Fur Ball the yearly fund raiser for The ARL and Skip thought it would be fun if he could do a video with Shotgun for the event. That video can be seen when you click on the KIX app!! The video for the song has fan's dogs featured and by popular demand another video featuring more pictures of his fan's dogs is being planned!

Moon Pie enjoys pets and lounging in his kennel. Moon Pie is not cat friendly and will need to be the only cat in the home. Ricochet is bringing their high energy show to Nevada, Iowa! Before the show I had the pleasure of talking with lead singer Heath Wright. I had heard a story about their biggest hit "Daddy's Money" and I wanted to confirm what I had been told. What a great story!!!! Ricochet has new music included in their latest release. They have also teamed up with The Wounded Blue as Heath explains how to help officers who have been hurt in line of duty and get a CD copy of "Ricochet The Hits and More, Then and Now"

I had the chance to talk with Richard Young of the Kentucky Headhunters about there show with Travis Denning in Aplington. Originally known as the Itchy Brothers, Richard talked about the many styles of music the Headhunters encompass. Corey Kent opens for Jason Aldean at the Iowa State Fair. You might remember him from a You Tube video were a young Corey Kent was able to get on stage with Willie Nelson or you may have seen him on The Voice with Blake as his coach. We talked about all of it. Blake's best advice he gave Corey. I find out why his new song is called "Something's Gonna Kill Me" why motorcycles are such a large part of his life and why his wife is ok with that.
Before November of 2018 Nate was on the path to becoming a nurse after the fire that destroyed Paradise, California. Nate lost everything in that fire. He wrote a song about his experience, One of These Days" that went viral. He talked about that experience, his musical influences and how music heals. His #1 song "Whiskey On You" current single "World On Fire"
I had the opportunity to talk with Priscilla Block before her appearance at the Iowa State Fair. She took her situation, as she explains and turned it around with hard work. We talked about Tik Tok and the inspiration for her first radio hit. We had fun talking about Justin Moore and I shared how I fan girled talking with him and she shared how she did the same. She has taken lemons and made lemonaide and it is paying off! Since our conversation her duet with Justin Moore has gone #1 "You Me and Whiskey"
Renee and five lovely young ladies stopped in to visit during Doris Day's Country Café. Meredith Crawford, Brooke Hilleman, Nora Rohmiller, Abby Tollefson and Ella Wertz are vying for State Center Rose Festival Queen and Princess. They shared what they will be preforming for their talent in the pageant, Thursday June 15th and their favorite memory of the State Center Rose Festival. The show is sold-out at Meskwaki Veterans Convention Center. I had planned on talking to Richard last month but scheduling conflicts prevented it. The old saying good things come to those who wait paid off. I really enjoying talking to Richard who has been with the Oak Ridge Boys more than 50 years!! Ed Ohrt shares about the event to honor his son, Noah. Noah was diagnosed at 15 with Ewing Sarcoma, a very aggressive primary form of bone cancer and can be in the bone or soft tissue. Noah became an Angel at 17, on March 8, 2014. Noah’s Love 3rd Childhood Cancer Fundraiser is Saturday, November 6, at the Lincoln Amvet Hall, in Lincoln from 4:30 p.m. to midnight.
