Layne and Jon head for a Cybertron they’ve not seen before in the first chapter of Chaos in IDW’s The Transformers 24 from 2011 before wrapping up the somewhat lackluster ending to Transformers: Hearts of Steel with issue 4 from 2006!
Clinton once again deigns to join Jon and Layne to talk Turtle movies! This time we are giving a full in-film commentary for the animated film Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2019! Layne and Jon begin the Attack on Technodrome arc with IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 41 from 2014!
Layne and Jon see Bumblebee’s rise to leadership in The Transformers: Bumblebee 4 and split the part in Last Stand of the Wreckers 3, both from IDW from 2010!

Layne and Jon enter the Coda phase of IDW’s The Transformers: All Hail Megatron, with issue 13, focusing on Ironhide and Starscream, from 2009!

Van Helsing, Dr. Seward, Arthur Lord Godalming, and Quincey Morris must confront the truth of Lucy Westenra. Next episode: 30 September
Clinton and Jon talk about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures 3, the last issue of the miniseries from Archie Comics, where the Turltes have to deal with the denizens of Dimension X and then Krang himself in his new body. Then in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 from Mirage, April and the Turtles emerge from the sewers to make their move but are chased by the cops down the streets of the New York.
Devastation is over and All Hail Megatron isn’t here yet, so Layne and Jon discuss parallel lives in IDW’s The Transformers Spotlight: Mirage and Furman’s Dynobot interlude in Grimlock, both from 2008!
Dr. Seward and Van Helsing pay another visit to Lucy’s tomb to discover something has changed.
Jonathan Harker rallies, and Dr. Seward is confronted with an inconvenient truth. Next episode: 27 September

Mousers attack in both our series. This is probably the only time that we are going to have a matching plot idea. But Baxter Stockman brings the mousers in both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures 2 (Archie miniseries) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (Mirage).

Luke and I take a look at Valiant and their history leading into this crossover, and then we dive into the events of the Prologue chapter that started everything off! Then the Green chapter is a small preview that tries to flesh out the background events of the story.

The Maxx finally finds some level of understanding of Julie and the Leopard Queen, even if Julie still has a long way to go. And Spawn takes out two gangs in a gang war as Frank Miller brings this Writers Series to a close.

Going monthly now for the foreseeable future, Road to Rebirth has emerged from the darkness of Forever Evil to see a new status quo for the Justice League, or shall we call them the INjustice League?! Lex Luthor is looking for membership in the League, and Batman may have no choice but to let him in. Al and Jon have the details in this first of two episodes covering Justice League Volume 6: Injustice League.

It’s a double-Rebirth episode as I talk about both the Superman books from last week and this week. This is it, folks! This is the wrapup of one of the greatest stories in the New 52 history! And Al and Jon are here to give you all of their thoughts on it.
First, though, they cover some of the tie-ins of the series, specifically those that involve Supers, namely Justice League Volume 5: Forever Heroes, Justice League of America Volume 2: Survivors of Evil, and Suicide Squad Volume 5: Walled In. After varying levels of coverage with those side stories, it’s time for the finale with Forever Evil 7.
In two weeks, we start to look at how a new Luthor gets involved with the Justice League, or should we now call it the Injustice League??!!
It’s solicitations time again, and I’m here to share all my thought son the coming books, but we also just had San Diego Comic-Con, so I’m gonna talk about that as well. It’s been a long road getting from there to here. It’s been a long time, but the time is finally here for “Spider-Man No More!” There is a bit of a story behind this “lost” episode. First of all, Stephen Lacey is back with us to talk Amazing Spider-Man 50, but Fall 2011 was before he became co-host of the the world-renowned Fantasticast, and we loved having him on to talk about the issue. Sadly, though, the recording malfunctioned, and we lost the first 40 minutes of the recording, which included the iconic trash can scene from the issue. We had to get together again a little bit later to rediscuss the first part of the issue, and then THAT recording was lost as well. So we got together AGAIN to rerediscuss that part. HOPEFULLY, my editing skills are masterful, so you’ll hardly even be able to tell that there is a recording break or that the first part of the episode was recorded a little bit after the rest. Hope you enjoy!

Today launches a biweekly series that I am calling Road to Rebirth. Here, I’ll be helped by Al Sedano in going through the various storylines that helped to lead directly into the events immediately preceding Rebirth. Truth, Darkseid War, and Final Days are part of that, but we have a few precursors to work through first.
So in this episode, we begin our coverage of Forever Evil. This is the first of three parts, and here we look at the first issue of the series as well as some of the Superman-centric issues from Villains Month: Metallo, Bizarro, Luthor, Brainiac, and Parasite. And in two weeks, we’ll continue with the bulk of the Forever Evil series.

This week, I’m still with Superboy as we follow him over to his super teen friends for Teen Titans Volume 4: Light and Dark, where Trigon makes his move and Raven joins the team. It’s an apocalyptic slug fest that manages to illumine and frustrate at the same time. What do I mean by that? I guess you’ll just have to listen to find out. Teen Titans Volume 4: Light and Dark collects Teen Titans 18-23.
This time out, I take a break from my story coverage to interview the writer of last week’s Superboy arc, Justin Jordan. We discuss Superboy, his antagonists in the story, where the story might have gone, and the forces that kept it from going there. I thank Justin Jordan for his openness about his time on the book, and I hope you enjoy the interview!
This time out, I’m joined by a friend to take a look at the final volume to feature the solo adventures of Kon-El, the clone of steel! Justin Clarke is my guest as we take a look at the antics of Superboy and a pair of Psychos, not to mention a certain Last Dog of Krypton! In this latest episode of The New 52 Adventures of Superman, I take a look at our visitor from Earth 2, Kara Zor-El aka Karen Starr aka Super Girl aka Power Girl, as she and her partner the Huntress confront Desaad over the way he’s destroyed her life recently, only to take a major knock to her ability to control her powers. Worlds’ Finest Volume 3: Control Issues contains Worlds’ Finest 13-18.
This time out, we travel back five years to see the first meeting between Superman and Batman, and between our main Earth and Earth 2! Multiversal shenanigans abound, and I even hatch a crackpot theory about the still untold Death of Superman. Batman/Superman Volume 1: Cross World includes Batman/Superman 1-4 and Justice League 23.1: Darksied.
So this is big episode 52, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, I am taking a break from my usual coverage to take a look back at the New 52 as a phenomenon. You may think I hardly need a break cuz I’ve been so long without episodes, but this is the second of two episodes that I actually recorded a year ago, so there.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone! I am back for this Christmas season to look at a Superman promo comic that was released around this time in 1940. Joining me all the way from England is Andrew Leyland of Hey Kids Comics and Fantasticast podcasting fame! So join us for some talk about Superman, Christmas music, and Santa Claus being unable to do his job without help (as seems to happen every year in some story or another).
Jon and Dave are back to celebrate two years since the show started. And this time out, we’re talking Man of Steel. But not just talking about it, we’re watching it AND talking about it. In the daily strips, a new adventure begins as Superman sets out to help change the life of the meekest man in the world.
The Sunday strips finish up Superman’s confrontation with the robot bandits of Metropolis, and then Metropolis is attacked by a hurricane. So of course Lois decides that’s a great time to go out and get a story.
On the radio, Clark Kent wraps up the mystery of the 5 million dollar gold heist before setting off on a Native American adventure with Jimmy Olsen to solve the mystery of a series of deaths that are always accompanied by the howl of a coyote.
Not only that, but since 1940 is over, I take a few moments at the end to look back at the year and pick out some favorite and not so favorite works to come out of the franchise in the previous twelve months.
After another of my now regular hiatuses, I am back to discuss Action Comics 33 with my good friend Charlie Niemeyer. We’ll be looking at Jack Burnley’s penultimate story of his fabled run on the book, featuring a will, a lumber mill, a muscled and mustachioed Frenchman, and Lois dying in a whirlpool! (spoilers)
In the back-up features, Tex Thomson undergoes a significant and patriotic transformation. We’ll also discuss the latest affairs of Pep Morgan, the Black Pirate, the Three Aces, Clip Carson, and Zatara.

Well, folks, here we are. The final episode of the show, at least for the foreseeable future. In this episode, Jon and Dave go through the extensive mailbag, bawl out the writer of a dumb review, and go through all the nooks and crannies of Action Comics 18. We also take time to look back on the series and look ahead to the future of the Superman books. In Justice Society Origins, JON WILSON (of Golden Age Superman, this show’s parent podcast) and MICHAEL BAILEY (of several other podcasts, not the least of which are From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast and Tales of the Justice Society of America) begin at the beginning with All-Star Comics 3, where the feature characters from several other comics come together to discuss their recent adventures over dinner. It may not be the most exciting of beginnings for the world’s first successful super-team, but it is where we find ourselves today.
Also in each episode will be an origin spotlight. This time around, we look at the beginnings and legacy of the original Red Tornado, Ma Hunkel.

We also take a dig into the mail bag and read your emails for not quite the last time.

This week on The New 52 Adventures of Superman, Jon and Dave are joined by Rennie Cowan of the Superboy Theater website. Superboy 7 and Teen Titans 7 bring the N.O.W.H.E.R.E. storyline to a head before diving into The Culling, so we give both books an in-depth analysis and do a little bit of a look back at the road that has brought us here.
Superboy 7 — “Untamed Rose!” — Superboy brings the fight to N.O.W.H.E.R.E., and Rose is there at the door to fend him off. Who will win? Who will lose? And who, exactly, is Harvest?
Teen Titans 7 — “Assault on Project 13” — Not sure exactly what a Project 13 is, but Superboy is the goal of the Titans’ rescue mission. Only things don’t exactly go well.
The episode is admittedly a tad off-format, but the point we’ve reached in this story merited a concerted look at both titles, and as a Superboy fan, we want to thank Rennie for bringing a lot of great insight. So come check out the episode!

Superboy 6 — “Not So Super” — It’s a classic case of Boy meets Girl, Girl doesn’t speak English, Girl finds out Boy is a clone, Girl punches boy into space. Your traditional not-so-love story, in other words. Looks like they’re laying seeds for the big Superman books crossover we were promised for this summer. Wait, isn’t summer here? WHERE’S OUR CROSSOVER??
Supergirl 6 — “The End of the Beginning” — Supergirl’s opening origin arc is nearing a close as she meets ghosts of her parents and follows Reign back to Earth to stop her from … well, reigning it. All the pieces are in place for next month’s knock down, drag out brawl. So long as Reign shuts up long enough for the fight to happen.
Superman 6 — “The Measure of a Superman” — It’s the final chapter of George Pérez’s run on the title as we find out just what’s been going on all this time, leaving us secure in the knowldege of … wait, what HAS been happening all this time?
Heckling aside, there was some good stuff this month. Mostly. And we also take some time to look at the end of “Origin” in Justice League 6 and the Superman guest spot in Batman: The Dark Knight 6. All right here, all just for you!

The length of the discussion for the non-Action titles this month was lengthy enough that Jon felt a cut was in order. The episodes are left a touch on the short side compared to usual, but that’s better than super-long for some people, so here it is. Look for the rest in a week.

“Baby Steps” — Wow, did this story catch us all by surprise, and it gives a chance for four men to share their feelings. But don’t let that frighten you!

The New 52 Adventures of Superman is a podcast dedicated to covering every adventure of Superman and his family of characters as they are currently being published as part of DC Comics — The New 52! Luthor is back, for the first time! In this second half of Golden Age Superman’s coverage of Superman’s adventures in February 1940, Superman 4 takes us on two very different adventures with Luthor. First we see him challenge Superman to a series of superfeats, and then our jaws hit the floor as he lures Superman to an ancient underground Pacific city to, um, fight dinosaurs. And a giant rat. Farewell, Steve Ditko. We hardly knew thee. This episode of Amazing Spider-Man Classics wraps up the tenure of the artist who helped to create our beloved webslinger and guide him down the most formative steps of his publishing history. With the circumstances surrounding his departure being what they were, it is sadly not the best note on which to depart, but before we talk about A Guy Named Joe in Amazing Spider-Man 38, the Classics gang (continuing to be assisted by Jim Wilson of JimWilsonDesigns, my brother and this website’s designer) finishes out Johnny Romita’s Spider-baptism by fire in Daredevil 17.
Along the way, we mention several sites for which I want to provide links.
— Dr. Strange’s early adventures, among other things, are being chronicled on a podcast, the Groucho Ramone Show.
— Lancer Publishing produced the first Spider-Man mass market sized reprint paperback, which has been reviewed by SpiderFan.org.

Hello there from all the gang here at Amazing Spider-Man Classics! This episode, we are back to begin taking a look at the transition from Steve Ditko to John Romita. Romita had the joys of drawing Spider-Man for a two-part Daredevil story, the end of which happened to coincide with Steve Ditko quitting Amazing Spider-Man. So in this episode, we are diving into the first part of that story, Daredevil 16, where Daredevil’s new foe, the Masked Marauder, incites some enmity between Hornhead and Webhead as part of his evil plot. Then we switch over to Steve Ditko’s penultimate outing in Amazing Spider-Man 37, featuring the Robot Master and the first named, in-character appearance of Norman Osborn.
But we are not alone. Joining us this time out is designer of the website you are viewing right now, and my brother, Jim Wilson. He has supported me in this endeavor since its inception, and it was the least I could to have him on to talk some Spidey and Daredevil with us. Thanks for coming back to see us here at Amazing Spider-Man Classics. The three Classicists are all by themselves this time out for a couple of lackluster issues that bring us closer to Steve Ditko’s departure from the title. In Amazing Spider-Man 35, The Molten Man Regrets the shameful things that happened between him and the webhead before, but that doesn’t stop him from coming back for more. Then a right-out loony manages to get superpowers from some rock gas and begins looting, and thus we have the birth of the Looter. All this, and some real treats from Ditko’s Gwen Stacy, too!
Speaking of Gwen, Josh Bertone has written several articles which explore the life of the character, which can be found at the Crawl Space. In this first episode, I take some time to introduce myself and the purpose of the show, but then we get down to business examining the first issue of Action Comics, focusing on the Superman story, but also taking a brief look at the rest of the contents of the issue.
For now, each episode will simply consist of an Action Comics synopsis and review. Down the road, when there are multiple issues per month, I’ll cover those as well, grouping issues into episodes according to release date. Most of Superman’s titles were not monthly, so cover dates are sometimes hard to classify, so we’ll stick to approximate release dates of the issues.

It’s time for pomp, circumstance, and supervillains here at Amazing Spider-Man Classics! After a few days’ delay due to school, the Classics team is now able to take a look at Amazing Spider-Man 28 and 29 with the help of Eddie deAngelini, comic archive researcher for With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story, a documentary which got its premiere at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Eddie also holds the claim to fame of owning every single issue of (The) Amazing Spider-Man, having closed his final gap of issue 2 at SDCC, where he met our own Josh Bertone and introduced him to The Man himself.
Though we haven’t stated it here in a while, our mission is the same as always, to explore every single comic book appearance of Spider-Man ever, whether it be as a feature in his own books, a guest appearance in someone else’s, or even a random one-panel cameo somewhere.
This episode, Peter gets to graduate from high school in issue 28 after a tussle with the newly-doused Molten Man. Then Betty has a breakdown when the Scorpion attacks in issue 29, and wouldn’t you know it, Ned Leeds is the one there to comfort her. We have a lot of fun with these, taking time to really get into the character of Liz Allan, as Amazing Spider-Man 28 is basically her swan song for the next 100 issues. You might also learn just how much influence Aunt May has had in the machinations of the history of the Marvel universe.

We’re wrapping up September with a bang, Spider-Fans! In Amazing Spider-Man 24 and 25, Mysterio returns in the guise of a psychiatrist, out to catch Spider-Man by proving that he is INSANE. Then, two years of publication come to a head as J. Jonah Jameson uses a robot to catch that web-slinging menace, but at the same time Flash Thompson, Betty Brant, and Liz Allan all converge at Peter’s house right in the middle of a visit by the mysterious Mary Jane Watson. The fit really hits the shan, and you can see the actual page here! And you know you want some funny art, so here you go:
Also, there is some debate on the episode about Mary Jane’s fashion choice in this issue. Here is an example of Audrey Hepburn sporting the look that MJ may have been going for.

Emails, emails, and more emails! Between the recording of this episode a month ago and its publication, the emails have begun to stack up, so rather than make you wonderful people wait longer for a response, we recorded an email segment to accompany our somewhat shorter coverage of Amazing Spider-Man 23. And that ended up being half the episode. But keep sending them in. We have a strategy now for addressing emails in a more regular fashion, so never fear to write.
This week, Spider-Man is faced once again by his nemesis from Hollywood, the Green Goblin. We also see the Goblin maskless for the first time, though neither Spider-Man nor readers of the day realized it at the time. Gasp! Shock! This time around, the Classics gang is going SOLO!! Or…um…trio. What do you call it when a group of three is going alone? Whatever that is, that’s what we’re doing. It’s no big deal. We’re just changing up some behind-the-scenes stuff which will mean more guest co-hosts sometimes, as well as the occasional episode with just the three of us.
In this, our latest episode, Jon Wilson, Joshua Bertone, and Donovan Grant venture beyond the realm of the three Pocket Books reprints that Jon had as a youth, looking at Spider-Man’s first fight with the Beetle, and his last fight with the Circus of Crime (at least for a long, long time to come). Along the way, we laugh at Dorrie Evans’ insane demands on Johnny Storm, and Betty Brant’s insane jealousies of Peter.

In the meantime, we are wrapping up our recording session with the ever valiant, but by now somewhat sleepy Stephen Lacey, of the World of Superman Blog. After this, Jon, Josh, and Donovan have sworn off seven-hour recording sessions. We’ll be recording more frequently for shorter durations, which means more guest co-hosts, and episodes with no guest co-hosts. It’s just gonna be easier. Stephen was great, but we hate to torture people with hours and hours at the mike.
This episode addresses the first appearance of the Scorpion, Mac Gargan, later of Venom fame. We also see Spider-Man co-starring in an issue of The Avengers, or so Stan would have us believe. This episode does run a bit shorter than most of our two-issue episodes, but there is much art fun to be had, mostly with the Avengers book.

Welcome back, Spidey fans, to the British invasion!!! Yes, we are joined again this week by UK Superman blogger Stephen Lacey, to take a look at Amazing Spider-Man 18 and 19. Thrill to every minute as Peter Parker runs from a fight, flirts with his aunt, and smashes through glass with nary a scratch. The Sandman and the Enforcers are out in … erm, force, and enjoy them while you can, because neither will grace the pages of a Spidey book for quite some time to come.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that’s right! After 40 days of spider-fast, Amazing Spider-Man Classics is back!
This month, Jon, Don, and Josh are joined by British blogger Stephen Lacey (author of the World of Superman blog) as they discuss and deliberate the beginning of Ditko’s first great trilogy.
Also, introducing a new feature on Facebook. A bit of fandom fun may be had at the pages for Team Betty, Team Liz, and Team Mary Jane. This is in addition to the main Facebook page for the show.
All the delays have been to due to a variety of scheduling conflicts. Things that, in the end, just couldn’t be avoided. The show has been fighting to exist behind the scenes, even if you couldn’t see it. Unfortunately, our thrice-monthly schedule has essentially lost a month in the process. So there are no “July” episodes. With lots of recordings under the belt over the last couple weeks, the next two episodes should be out before the end of the month, and then we’ll be back on schedule after that.

Kicking off the month of June, the Amazing Spider-Man Classics group is joined by the ever-lovin’, blue-eyed Brad Douglas of the Spider-Man Crawl Space. The books this week are Amazing Spider-Man 12 and 13, so we’re wrapping up the amazingly creepy Betty Brant saga as the chase by Dr. Octopus comes to a close with the unmasking of Spider-Man, and then seeing the first appearance of your favorite fishbowl head, Mysterio. And there’s even a special cameo appearance in the show around the 1:00 mark.
Also, the blooper reel is extra long. Well, just cuz. You’ll see.

Also, there is some speculation in the episode on when Mysterio gets a name. Looked it up and that’s going to happen in 1983 with Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe 7.
Well, that’s it for May. I’ve been trying to decide what kind of release schedule I want to follow. Though I may change later, for now I’m gonna follow the “pattern” (using the term loosely) that I’ve been using so far, so expect Episode 10 on or around June 16.

Continuing this month with Jeffrey Taylor (co-host of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast), Jon, Bertone, and the Donmeister bring to you the unfolding saga of Betty Brant.
Amazing Spider-Man Classics is devoted to covering every main Spider-Man book as well as every guest and cameo appearance we can find. This time, Amazing Spider-Man 10 and 11 are up, with a stop along the way for a cameo in Strange Tales 119. This wraps Spidey’s first full year of publication and launches a second.

This month, Joshua, Donovan, and I have joining us Mr. Jeffrey Taylor, co-host of the world-renowned From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast. This is a special occasion for me because his and Michael Bailey’s work over on that show is what got me into comic book podcasts in the first place and helped to inspire the show you are looking at now. We give a nod to a cameo in The Avengers 3, and then we have a ball of a time discussing Amazing Spider-Man 9, along the way speculating on Betty Brant’s affection for her brother. We’re talking real Star Wars love here.

What? You’re back? You must be looking for some classic Spider-Man goodness. Well, this week serves up the goods for Amazing Spider-Man 7 and 8. Jon, Don, and Josh are joined again by Zach Henderson from Teenage Wasteland: An Ultimate Spider-Man Podcast, as we wrap up our April episodes (even though it’s May now cuz Jon had laptop problems). You’ll get the Vulture’s return, the stupidest robot in the history of robots, and Spidey crashing a party in order to score some team-up action. Strange Tales 115 also gets some brief attention, because Amazing Spider-Man Classics is committed to covering every Spider-Man book, as well as every Spider-Man guest or cameo appearance that we can find.
Note: The blooper reel contains some discussion of a religious icon that is rather indelicate in its humor. Feel free to turn off the podcast during the closing music if such talk may offend you.

This week, Jon, Josh, and Don are again joined by Zach (from Teenage Wasteland: An Ultimate Spider-Man Podcast) to go back to Spidey’s main book after our team-up time-out last week. Spider-Man has to cross swords, or finger guns, with the metal-masked menace of the Fantastic Four — Dr. Doom! And after that, he then takes the world’s shortest vacation to the Everglades to confront the Lizard!

Some notes about the show this week: In the intro, I mention a survey in which you are invited to take part. That can be found here. Also, despite his frequent appearances on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Dr. Doom and Spider-Man simply have not crossed paths many times over the years. After this issue, Dr. Doom does not feature in another Spider-Man story until Amazing Spider-Man Annual 14, and they don’t even meet face to face there. Their next actual meeting is Marvel Treasury Edition featuring Superman and Spider-Man 28 from 1981.

“I almost wish for an opponent who’d give me a run for my money!” Oh, poor Spidey, be careful what you wish for. Because this week, Jon, Bertone, and Donovan wrap up their first round of episodes with Doctor Octopus and the Sandman! And they will both send Spider-Man running away with his spinnerets tucked between his legs.
Since there was no episode last week, perhaps a word is due on the schedule of this podcast. It’s gonna be near-weekly. Every month, Jon is gonna go through a stack of issues with a team of cohorts, and those episodes will be released over the course of the month. So expect two, three, or four episodes every month, on not quite a weekly schedule. This wraps up March’s episodes. And if all goes well, there will be more in a couple of weeks.
A note from this week’s convo. The team speculates on Liz Allan’s future after Peter Parker’s graduation, but no one takes the time to actually look up the info, cuz we’re too busy having fun. So, for the record, Liz Allan says good-bye to Peter in Amazing Spider-Man 28 after graduation. She appears again as a surprise in issue 30. But then she’s gone from Peter’s life until Amazing Spider-Man 132.

The Webhead is back! Six months after his one-off story in the cancelled Amazing Fantasy, Spider-Man was granted his own book, which hit shelves in late 1962. Jon, Bertone, and Donovan take a look at the introductions of such essential characters as J. Jonah Jameson and Betty Brant while laughing at Ditko’s cooky villains like the Tinkerer and the Chameleon.
Amazing Spider-Man Classics is devoted to covering every issue of Spider-Man’s various titles, as well as every guest appearance or cameo in other books that we can find.
Some notes: Right at the beginning of the discussion, I say that Jack Kirby draws Spider-Man with Steve Ditko inking. I meant to say “on the cover” somewhere in there. The interior arts are, of course, Steve Ditko’s. At one point, we discuss the Chameleon’s career immediately following this story, but we aren’t positive of our facts. Turns out that after this book, he showed up in Amazing Spider-Man 15 and then gave Iron Man and the Hulk a few troubles. He didn’t show up in Amazing Spider-Man again until issue 80, and then 186, and not again until 306. So the Chameleon was a pretty scarce villain until the late 80s.
We’re amazed at the rapid attraction of the show and are grateful for the support received from the Spider-Man Crawlspace, which has a great resource of Spidey news and fan items and their own podcast that is more than worth checking out. In Amazing Spider-Man Classics, we’ll be reviewing and discussing every issue of every Spider-Man series, giving the same treatment to his guest appearances in other books, and tossing at least a mention at every cameo we can find.
In this introductory episode, Jon is joined by Bertone and Donovan to look at the origins of our favorite web-slinger in the lead story of a cancelled anthology sci-fi book. In future, we will usually handle two issues or more per episode, but we spent some extra time relishing and poking fun at this Twilight Zone-style story.
