Jesus approaches the disciples caught in a storm at sea. At first they think he’s a ghost and they are afraid, but then Peter puts him (and his faith) to the test and steps out of the boat himself. This story is ripe with applications for our own lives as we have to consider the storms that form in our own lives, the ways God may find us within them, and whether we are willing to step out of a storm-battered boat.

Word of the Week is a series for the month of August offering just one word to carry us through the week. In a month like August, when summer rhythms transition back to school, church, work, and all the other things that keep us busy most of the year, it can feel overwhelming to try to re-organize our lives around faith and spiritual practice. So, we’re going to make it really simple and offer just one word each week for inspiration. Who knows, maybe one word can change everything?!

Have you ever had an encounter that changed your whole life? Simple Moments is a four-part series inspired by the All In Band’s performance of “Dream Small” during a springtime worship service. During the month of July, we’ll be paying attention to all the seemingly small things that happen in the stories of our faith. As we do, we’ll explore the possibility that God might be speaking to us, or using us for good, in all the more simple moments. This week we will hear about one simple encounter on the side of the road where Zacchaeus perched in a tree changed everything for this tax collector.

It doesn’t get any more “highlight reel” or fancy and put together than a royal. Modern history, especially following the death of Princess Diana, has exposed some of the trouble with this whole culture of perfectionism. Though the Kings of Israel didn’t have to worry about modern paparazzi, social media, or the 24 hour news cycle, they certainly had to juggle optics as well as social and political pressures. But the Kings tended to have prophets who were speaking truth to them, behind the scenes, urging them to listen to God even when it wasn’t popular. We may not be royals, but I wonder if we don’t have some prophets speaking to us behind the scenes?

Jesus visits the house of Mary and Martha and we get this infamous montage of two very different women. Martha who is rushing around doing all the things, and Mary who is sitting, worshipping, adoring Jesus. Can you imagine what Martha might have posted about this event if she’d had access to Instagram? What about Mary? The truth is it takes both women and their postures of work, rest, and worship to embody a whole and complete faith. How do we lean more into one than the other? And how do we allow our propensities for work or rest dominate our “highlight reels”? Is there a Mary or a Martha within us that needs more attention, in real life?

Jesus has dinner with the wealthy, but as it turns out the wealthy have earned their fortunes on the backs of the poor, which feels like abandonment and betrayal to those he says he’s come to serve. But when confronted he says: I’ve come to heal the sick! Who would have thought the tax collectors and their rich friends were “sick”? They seem to have it all together on the outside. What does Jesus know that the rest of us need to learn?

The book of Acts tells the story of the early church and gives us a glimpse into the lives of the first Christian communities trying to figure out how to live without Jesus there – in human form – to guide them. Their successes and struggles mirror ours in some uncanny ways and there's so much we can learn from these ancient texts. And though there are some stories we love to remember from this unique book of the Bible, there are others we love to forget. This week’s is one we’d like to forget because it reminds us of just how serious is our call to be faithful stewards of every gift. Worship with us and let’s find out if this ancient story might still be speaking!

This week in worship we are guided by Jesus’ words in the Gospel of John, a section called the “Farewell Discourse” where Jesus prepares the disciples for life in his absence. It can be a somber text, but this week we read Jesus’ words with a hopeful lens, made up of memories shared with those we have loved. Sue Madsen will offer our Mother's Day Reflection and a donation to Centrica Rose Harbor Place will be made in her honor. Learn more about this hospice facility below. We’ll also recognize our High School Seniors during First Steps and a special video at the end of worship.

On Easter Sunday, we celebrate the good news that Christ is Risen. On the highest of holy days in the Christian year, we remember the Resurrection in story and song, glorify God with special music, and cover the cross with colorful flowers. Love is stronger than death and destruction. Love always prevails and love is alive and unbound in the world. Like a mustard seed, it grows without limit. Like water turned into wine, it surprises us with joy. Like loaves of bread it expands to feed every hungry soul. Love is alive and this is indeed good news!

This week our scripture reading takes us to Jerusalem for Passover as Jesus and the disciples enter the city. Their entrance is celebrated by the crowds of poor and vulnerable – a stark contrast to the Roman parades with all of their pomp and circumstance. As we’ve done each week, we once again attempt to find ourselves in the story which invites us to celebrate Jesus’ movement of love and mercy with shouts of “Hosanna!” What will the good news inspire us to do? How will the gospel move us to respond? As we head into Holy Week, how will we put Jesus’ teachings into practice?

As we get closer to Holy Week, we continue to look to the Gospels for a bit of good news. This week we turn to John’s Gospel where we find a story about justice and mercy. How can we know when to advocate for justice and when to act with mercy? This was the test Jesus faced when he was teaching in the Temple; before he found another way. Where do we feel trapped or tested between a rock and a hard place? Might Jesus have some good news that helps us find another way?

March 15, 4th Sunday of Lent: the good news is... protection & care for the vulnerable.
Scripture: Matthew 19: 13–15 In many modern contexts, Jesus welcoming children may seem sweet. In his time, however, spending time with children would have been seen as wasteful or unimportant. When Jesus blesses the children after the disciples try to send them away, he reorients socially constructed hierarchies to center the vulnerable.

March 8, 3rd Sunday of Lent: the good news is... together, the impossible is possible
Scripture: Mark 6: 32–44 As Jesus and his disciples head to a deserted place, perhaps seeking peace and quiet, many from the surrounding towns follow them. Instead of turning them away, Jesus expresses compassion and begins an impromptu teaching session.

2nd Sunday of Lent: the good news is... great love for God & neighbor

On this first Sunday of Lent we read about Jesus’ first miracle in the Gospel of John. This is a miracle of wild abundance, of surprising presence, and of radical love. Have you been caught off guard by love lately? Do you need a little more love in your life? Let’s see if we might find some love in the Gospel this Sunday – maybe we’ll even find enough to share!

Join us for Week Four of our current sermon series: What does it mean to be the church? Where we look to scripture to help us discover the meaning of church in today’s world. So far we have read from the Gospels and the letter to the early church in Corinth. This week, we turn to the prophet Micah to gain some insights from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) with a focus on the question: What shall we do?

This week we begin a series called “What does it mean to be church?” During the series we will read from the Gospels stories of Jesus’ early ministry, calling, training, and nurturing the disciples as they prepared to carry the mission forward. Though many years have passed, we carry that same Jesus-mission forward today! In this first week, we’ll read a portion of Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount” and recall what it means to be salt and light.

This Sunday we gather to celebrate Epiphany. It is traditionally a time to tell the story of the Magi who travelled from the East to see Jesus and offer valuable gifts. Though the magi are the main characters in this ancient story, Herod looms large in the background, driving the narrative, directing the movement of the magi, and also the migration of the holy family away from Bethlehem. In this final week of our series Insisting on Hope, we will attempt to place ourselves in the story and set some intentions for the year ahead. Will we be moved by fear or moved by love?

This week our Advent readings return to more traditional stories of angelic visitors announcing miraculous pregnancies and in so doing, inviting ordinary folk into an extraordinary calling. This week, that invitation is given to Mary, a teenage girl who is engaged to be married. Unlike her cousin Elizabeth, who is married and whose pregnancy can be understood for the most part, Mary’s news is a bit more complicated. Her “yes” requires a healthy dose of courage. And it carries a whole heap of risk. Have you ever been called to do something? Maybe it wasn’t as blatant and obvious as carrying the baby Jesus to term. But maybe it was something with some risk attached. What if we are all called into risky discipleship? Are we willing to say yes? Come along - online or in person - and let’s see if we can summon some courage together. Link to Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ88ykfyIbk

We continue our Advent theme of Insist on Hope, even in the midst of fear. This week the Gospel reading brings us once again to a story including John the Baptist. This time John is in prison and seems to be losing hope. Was it all worth it? Did anything I spent my life doing have meaning? Was it all for nothing? These are the questions John is asking as his life takes an unexpected turn. Most of us don’t like unexpected turns. Especially when they make us call into question the big things like our life’s purpose and what kind of legacy we will leave behind. Maybe there is something we can learn from John and Jesus this week as we return to the Gospel. Come along - online or in person - and let’s see if we can tend to our fears (and our hopes!) together.

This week begins the season of Advent which is a time of long-waiting and hopeful anticipation. This year our theme for the season (now through Christmas and Epiphany which we will celebrate on January 4) is What Do You Fear? Our exploration of this theme begins with the story of Zechariah who was a priest and the father of John the Baptist - but he doesn’t yet know about his son. So as we remember Zechariah’s story, we begin to place ourselves in his shoes. What did he fear? How did the world he lived in, his historical context, evoke those fears for him? How can we relate (or not) to him? And what is our faithful response in our own context? Come along - online or in person - and let’s see if we can tend to our fears (and our hopes!) together.

Come and celebrate Accessibility Sunday! On this special day, we remember that sometimes people can feel left out because of stairs, or hard to read words, or not being able to hear, or because people don’t understand their needs. Sometimes we can’t see what someone needs but our calling as a church is to be like Jesus, making sure everyone is included, and that church is a place where no one feels left out. We’ll be hearing from three of our members about what accessibility means to them. We will also be celebrating our recent designation by the United Church of Christ as a congregation that is Accessible to All (A2A). A2A is the terminology used within the UCC to refer to congregations that have completed the Accessible to All process and thereby made the commitment to be physically and attitudinally welcoming of people with disabilities. The A2A process has for many years been defined by the A2A resource “Any Body, Everybody, Christ’s Body”

The remembrance of All Saints’ ushers in a new season as colorful autumn leaves fall to the ground, crunching beneath our feet. The silliness of Halloween transitions into a time of reflection and preparation for the holiday season between Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. In this transitional season, as summer turns to fall and then to winter, we are reminded of the seasons of our lives and God’s presence with us in them all. With the 95th Psalm as our guide, this week we reflect on all that we have to be grateful for.

This Sunday is All Saints Day. “Our sainthood is a beautiful dignity given to us by our God, that we are set apart by grace for good works.” (Eph. 2:10). On this special Sunday, we remember that we are all called to be saints. As we toll the bell in honor of those from our congregation who have gone before us, we give thanks for their lives and witness. We will also welcome new members into our community of faith and share together in communion. If you will be worshipping remotely, have your juice and bread, or coffee and donut ready as we come to Christ’s table are assured how deeply we are loved but our compassionate God.

This week concludes a two-week series on reconciliation. We’ll read more of the story with Jacob and Esau, two brothers who came into this world fighting and competing with one another and whose birth story set the tone for the rest of their lives. These two were always at odds. In Part 1, we explored how humility is a necessary precursor to reconciliation. We marveled at how Jacob wrestles with God and emerges with a limp and a new name. We asked ourselves if we need to wrestle with God, and if there are any “names” we need to let go of, allowing God to transform us into someone new. This week we’ll take an honest look at the encounter between Jacob and his brother to see what their reconciliation was like… and if it has anything to do with ours.

One of the most famous prayers in our tradition is the Jesus prayer (aka the Lord’s Prayer) which is found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Though the wording is different in each iteration, and the context surrounding the prayer varies from one Gospel to the next, there is one commonality that should not go unnoticed: each petition begins with “Our.” This week as we consider our promises to the church in the 2026 calendar year, we center ourselves around the prayer of Jesus and the way he used the word “our” to remind us of our commitment to one another.

What is your biggest dream?Perhaps it is a dream so grand you don’t let yourself admit it, or voice it, or really even want it. Most adults have learned how to do this. We suppress dreams as a way of protecting ourselves from the pain of disappointment. We become realists, when we used to be dreamers. The Bible is full of stories about dreamers. Folks who heard the voice of God in their dreams and had faith that God would bring these dreams to life. What if God is still in the business of giving us big dreams – and then helping them become reality?

We all know the phrase, “There’s no ‘I’ in team.” Many of us first heard it on the field or court, when coaches encouraged us to set aside our egos and work together. But as adults—especially within a church or community—that simple lesson can feel more complicated as our teams grow, shift, and change. This Sunday, we’ll turn to a familiar parable from Luke’s gospel to find if there is any good news for those struggling with the opposing pulls of individualism and community.

This Sunday at First Congo Rev. Chrissy Tatum Williamson will preach a sermon entitled: “The Difference Between Molding and Molded.”Everybody likes the idea of being transformed (past tense). Looking back on the past and seeing how we've grown and changed. Children exude pride when they begin a new school year, one grade more than when they left for summer break. As adults we sometimes look upon our careers and our skills (whether for work, play, or hobby) in much the same way. Look at how we've grown and changed and improved! This will be a very special Sunday in the life of our congregation as the candidate for our next Sr. Minister introduces herself to the congregation and preaches. It is so appropriate that the Gospel reading for this Sunday is the story of the Good Samaritan, and how a stranger becomes a neighbor. The All-In Band, and the Chancel Choir will offer music to enhance our worship. A congregational meeting to learn more about the candidate will be held immediately after worship, culminating in the vote for the candidate. Voting options will be available remotely as well as in person.

Lots going on this Sunday morning! At both 8:45 and 10am worship, Rev. Rich Kirchherr will preach a sermon that helps us to better understand how we might engage two similar stories from the gospel, when their endings are very different. What do we do with that? Might the two different endings actually help us better understand how faith in Jesus is dynamic and not fixed? Our wonderful Bell Choir will play at both services and at the 10am service we will welcome new members to our congregation.

Hope is vulnerable and can feel like a tremendous risk, especially if you’ve experienced loss or trauma. But Mary shows us a resilient hope that takes risks—she risks her body to bear a son who will become the hope of her people. Similarly, Joseph makes a risky choice to stay with Mary; dismissing her quietly would have kept him safe. But instead, he chooses hope. He chooses to trust the angel, and it makes all the difference. It can feel safer and easier to be a cynic, but the world doesn’t need more cynics. It needs people who say, “It can be better," and make it so.
On this last Sunday of the church’s calendar year, we’ll hear Pilate challenge Jesus to explain who he is. Join us as we consider what it means to “Belong to the Truth”. Our choir will sing, and Janet Mensen Reynolds and Lauren Reynolds will share a special musical offering.
On this first day of Advent, Rev. Kathryn Price will preach about how God continues to bless each of us in the most unexpected ways and in the most unexpected places.
What better way to begin our national day of gratitude than by gathering to worship God? Thanksgiving Day is a “come as you are,” 40-minute service where we sing the wonderful hymns of Thanksgiving and hear a reflection on gratitude from a member, Mary Rose Kennith .
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will continue his series based on questions from the summer's Ask the Pastor sermon and recent conversations. This Sunday, he'll delve into the Gospel of John, reflecting on Jesus' words, "I go to prepare a place for you." His sermon, titled The Geography of Heaven?, will explore what Scripture and tradition reveal about this frequently pondered question.
Rev. Meredith Onion offers her reflection as we come together on World Communion Sunday.
Rev. Rich Kirchherr responds to what the phrase Born Again means to our kind of faith today.
This Sunday, our worship services will have the theme of “honoring the Sabbath.” The music will be beautiful, and Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr’s sermon will do some teaching around the Hebrew Bible understanding of Sabbath, and how the idea of Sabbath has the potential to change your life for the better. The sermon will lift up the theme of growing faith in our Grow.Serve.Share stewardship season.
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr offers his sermon entitled "The Pace of Grace", we will sing Amazing Grace and enjoy the music from our bell choirs.
This Sunday Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will preach a sermon for Promise Sunday. This is the Sunday when many of us will bring our pledge cards to be placed in the offering plate and blessed for the ministry of our church in the coming year.
Rev. Rich Kirchherr tells a story about a young boy in a crowd who meets Jesus and is amazed by the generosity he experiences.
We continue exploring our holistic vision of faithful stewardship with an emphasis on Serve.
We continue exploring our holistic vision of faithful stewardship with an emphasis on Serve.
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will preach as we return to two services at 9 and 10:30AM. His sermon will kick off our three-week worship series on Grow. Serve. Share., a holistic understanding of the stewardship of all God’s gifts as a way of faithful living.

This Sunday we’ll hear the story of Jesus healing a woman who had been afflicted for 18 years. Imagine her joy! But because Jesus healed on the Sabbath, the leaders of the Synagogue became indignant. Join us Sunday as we consider how the authorities may have been “Missing the Point,” and what we may be overlooking as well.
We will also celebrate the sacrament of Baptism and our music will be led by soloist Christina Kaloyanides-Abbott.
Scripture calls us to run with perseverance the race set before us, looking to Jesus, the perfecter and pioneer of our faith. But who gets distracted along the way? It is a reminder of the welcoming of Jesus into our hearts and of our willingness to follow him. Rev. Katherine Willis Pershey entitled "So the Stones Don't Have To" and the bells and children choir will sing.
This Sunday we’ll hear the parable of the Prodigal Son, and consider where we see ourselves in this story. Do we find comfort in the abundant grace shown by the father? God wants us to live an abundant and full life! We’ll explore ways to do just that through the journey of Lent.
This Sunday Rev. Rich Kirchherr will offer the second of his historical moments in the history of our church. The first one was on January 16, and this one is about our missionary minister in India during the 1920s and 30s. His name was the Reverend Ralph Keithahn, and both his time in our church and India were controversial.
Again, historical moments are simply that. However, some continue to raise questions that speak to our faith in 2022. This week, after sharing Rev. Keithahn’s story, Rich will reflect on the question, “What Does Our Faith Say about Other Religions?”
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will offer a historical minute on a controversy that erupted not long after our sanctuary was built. It was over a family having the ashes of a loved one interred in the floor of the church. And it was quite a controversy.
The sermon will wonder about why it was such a difficult topic, and will reflect on what our faith says about the end of life. The Scripture is John 14.
Churches all around the world traditionally remember the Baptism of Christ on the first Sunday after Epiphany. We will join this global celebration as we remember our own baptisms as well. Katherine Willis Pershey will preach and Lauren Reynolds will serve as liturgist as we return to in-person worship this Sunday.

We continue our Advent series, Close to Home, with Pastor Katherine preaching on one of the classic characters of Advent - John the Baptist. John the Baptist’s good news sounds harsh, but he preaches a home for all—where inequities are banished, valleys are lifted up, and all have the resources they need for collective flourishing. Ultimately, John’s message is one of joy. The choir will sing and the candle of joy will be lit.
This Sunday we gather for the second Sunday of advent, and light the candle of peace. Rich will offer a reflection on the theme of anticipation and remembrance. We will celebrate the sacrament of communion.
We will celebrate the First Sunday of Advent as we light the candle of Hope. Our Advent Sermon series, Close to Home, begins as we explore our deep longing to return home to God.

Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will reflect in this Sunday’s sermon on the hopeful future of our church and the promise it can be, despite the challenges of these pandemic days.
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will reflect on the complimentary languages of science and faith. Science and religion do not stand in opposition to one another, but rather together give us a more faithful and deeper understanding of our world. So, this Sunday, I will touch on the theme of the intersection of vaccines, evolution, science and faith.
Henri Nouwen once wrote: The beauty of listening is that, those who are listened to start feeling accepted, start taking their words more seriously and discovering their own true selves. Listening is a form of spiritual hospitality by which you invite strangers to become friends, to get to know their inner selves more fully and even to dare to be silent with you.” Sunday’s sermon will explore "The Sacred Call to Listening", Part 2.

Rev. Dr. RIch Kirchherr reflects on why he feels it is time for our congregation to have the conversation about, and engage the process of, what it would mean to formally include and affirm all people as created in the image of God. This process and congregational wide conversation, might very well include, as a congregation, writing a covenant of welcome, inclusivity and affirmation that all people are children of God.
We gather together at the All Church Picnic and Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr offers his reflection for the day.

Rev. Katherine Willis Pershey will preach on two of Jesus' beloved parables, and we'll witness and celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism for a new member of our community of faith.
Rev. Rich Kirchherr will reflect on the question Jesus asks of his followers (Matthew 16:13-20): "Who do you say that I am?" How each of us responds is foundational to our faith and living in these days.
Rev. Katherine Willis Pershey preaches on Nicodemus, a Pharisee who visited Jesus in the dead of night to ask questions about eternal life and the Kingdom of Heaven. Nicodemus struggles to understand Jesus' teaching, but like many of us, his problem isn't a lack of intelligence. How can these impossible things be true?
One of the more important moments in the life of our church is when our 4th graders receive their Bibles! Join us for worship on Sunday as we witness this important event and consider our own understanding of the Bible and it’s importance in our lives.
This Sunday is Pentecost, which marks the beginning of the church. Gathered at Pentecost were people who spoke different languages and were unable to comprehend what they were saying, until the Spirit gave them the gift of understanding. Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will reflect on our congregation’s shared language and how although diverse in thought, we are united in Christ.

The Good Shepherd - it’s such a familiar story, and yet, there are a few characters in this story that we rarely talk about or even notice. Join us on Sunday as we explore those often overlooked in this beloved story.
Join our First Congo family worship service to learn how we are rooted in and celebrate God‘s love.
The Psalmist proclaimed, “How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity.” In the days following Easter, the disciples spent their days in wonder and awe, and pondering what their future looked like, and just how they would live together in unity. This Sunday Rev. Meredith Onion leads worship as we explore these same questions.
On Palm Sunday, we remember that Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem was not a risk-free, palm party. It was a protest parade—a protest against those in power, a parade to prepare the way for a different kind of king. And this was all happening with plots to kill Lazarus (and Jesus) building in the background. We’re reminded that the crowds were brave to show up that day, and that Jesus drew on courage to face his journey to the cross. The root of courage is “cour,” meaning “heart.” Courage is deep within us; drawing on courage is both internal and external. We often find it when we most need it, when everything else has been stripped away.
We desire for God to write on our hearts so that God’s law can re-shape and re-form us from the inside out. Reformation is a journey of letting the old fall away for something new to emerge, of returning to God’s words over and over, of being drawn into the heart of God. Again & Again, We Are Reformed.
After inviting Nicodemus to be born anew, Jesus tells him in John 3 that God so loved the world that God sent his son to restore it. Therefore, when we read John 3:16, we remember that Jesus is speaking in metaphor and poetry. Ultimately, love is where God begins and ends. This love, like grace, is a gift we do nothing to deserve. Again and again, love is our refrain. Before we act, think, or believe, can love be first for us too?
Like the disciples, we are often stuck in the pattern of repeating old mistakes, over and over again. Like the disciples, we’d sometimes rather talk at God, than silence ourselves long enough to listen. Again and again, we are called to listen— to God and to others.
God meets Jesus at the water before he is tempted in the wilderness—this is important. First and foremost, God claims us. God meets us in the liminal space, at the water’s edge, at the threshold of something new, and names us Beloved. God’s covenant with all of creation reminds us that God meets us where we are—in the midst of our reluctance, doubt, eagerness … and even in the wilderness.
Yes, Rev. Katherine Willis Pershey is on Sabbatical. Given that we are still pre-recording worship out of an abundance of caution, she is still preaching this Sunday! We’ll dwell with the astonishing and inspiring story of the transfiguration of Jesus.

"There’s a wideness in God’s mercy." These words reflect the heart of the Good News we will celebrate together. Rev. Katherine Willis Pershey will preach on a story of Jesus’ liberating ministry.
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will reflect on the questions: Why should congregations and churches still exist in 2021? What might a new normal look like?
We continue to celebrate the season of Epiphany, as Rev> Meredith Onion encourages us to chase the light that overcomes darkness.
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr's sermon is a response to a question that he received from a young person via email: “Is our Christian faith unique from other religions?" The service will also include Communion, so please have your bread and juice when worship begins.
On the Sunday closest to Epiphany, Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will offer a teaching sermon on the story and power of the journey of the Magi. We marvel at the persistence of God to shine the way for the Magi so that they might bear witness to the divine. As we journey forward, we carry the dreams of our ancestors in faith. With courage and resilience, we dream on.
This week, we recognize what preceded Mary’s song of praise: news that was disorienting and bewildering, possibly threatening her life. Together, Mary and Elizabeth find courage and comfort in spite of their unusual circumstances. We, too, are called to carry, support, and encourage one another’s dreams.
Rev. Katherine Willis Pershey offers her sermon.
Ultimately, dreams sow joy, even if that joy doesn’t immediately spring forth. Sowing seeds into the soil always feels risky and feeble—how can something so small become something so beautiful, so big, and so nourishing? Like Mary, we are called to tend and nurture the dreams God has woven into us.
Rev. Meredith Onion reflects on discovering Harmony when we’re Centered in Christ, even if we’re diverse in thought.
In these partisan and tension filled days leading up to our election, Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr will consider what a citizen of our nation might pray for.
Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr offers a reflection on the gift of sharing a meal that will sustain us in a way that no other meal will.
Setting Sail - Rev. Dr. Richard Kirchherr
September marks the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrim’s departure from England to what they hoped would be a new and improved England. Our spiritual forebears came, of course, seeking religious freedom from a hierarchical Church, but they also became a litmus test as to whether a body of people can govern themselves. The only path forward, they believed, was through a covenant; an agreement made before God between people. In worship this week, Rich reflects on this 400th anniversary and how its legacy shapes us today. The Scripture from which the sermon grows is the New Testament Letter to the Hebrews 8: 7-11.
The Last Motel - Rev. Dr. Rich Kirchherr reflects on two journeys that end in gratitude and generosity.
