Our children recently asked us if they could get "dumb phones!" When we asked why, they blew our minds! listen in this weeks episode to try and understand these epic kids and why in the world they would ever want to get rid of their new iPhones.
We have 6 kids, but now have 3 kids and three adults in our family. We learned long ago that each child had their own personality, their own psychosis and way of thinking! We needed to learn how each was an individual and how to parent to that individuality! this is how we cam up with our unfair parenting method.
Parenting, once you think you've got it "all figured out", Here comes ANOTHER stage in Raising your kids. MARRIED DAUGHTER, and how to navigate your family life and relationships once they are married and have started their life and family. What does it look like when they come over, does "parenting" stop, etc. It somehow completely changes and theirs expectations and communication that needs to stop and change.
Rachel was still a teenager when we got married 2 days after my 22nd birthday! This rubbed many the wrong way and also empowered others to try and dictate how we dated, arranged our wedding and lived our life! Did we listen to them, yes. Did we do as they dictated, NO! we were young but not stupid and started this journey together 24 years ago and are still going strong!

What kinds of things do you do to keep you and your family busy during the summer break, and not getting on each others nerves?
We talk about our schedules, how we keep our kids engaged and busy during the summer days. How we organize and plan out our days. We also add in fun and family adventures, whether they are small or big, it doesn't matter, we plan them out to make sure we get in good family fun. We also make sure to plan dates with one another for some one on one time.
Did you talk to your parents about hard things? Do you want your kids to feel safe confiding in you with some of the harder things they are going through? We have tested eating at the table together daily, creating a separate safe space to talk about the hard things, going on individual dates with each kids and many more ways to create relationships that will allow our kids to feel comfortable talking to us. we share all of them here hoping that one or even a few may help others! We lived in the UK for 18 months and learned more lessons than we had hoped to! There were some incredible experiences and wonderful people but, there were some terrible experiences and we've listed them here!
In my family we have multiple generations of family members who have served missions for The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or if you prefer the uneducated term... a Mormon mission. Our Church has kept the same name since the 1830's but the catchy phrase Mormons stuck with detractors of the church and still remains.
We have 6 children and each of them continually tells us how that "when they are married," or "When i'm married" they are going to do this or that. We'll we took all of those quotes literally and started helping our children gain habits that would prepare them for that marriage in years or decades down the road. We are talking about our teen boys, the next two in the lineup. Shae and Wyatt. These two teen boys are incredible young men but... teaching them to be responsible has been an entirely new experience for us.
Each of our kids has moved out at 17yrs old. Each of them has graduated Highschool early and left to College early. We were told this wasn't possible for "home schoolers" and have loved how this has happened over the years to each of our kids. What is so interesting is that each one of our children is so different from the rest but this has worked so well for each of them in different ways. tune in, comment down below and join the conversation.

We have had lots of changes and we are grateful for everyone who is on this adventure with us. Because you know it's always a crazy adventure with us.
After serving and doing hard work we always try to have a fun adventure to solidify the earlier experiences and lace them with adventure! An African Safari is one of the most adventurous things weve done! Lions eating Zebras, Elephants chasing you and Baboons almost jumping into your vehicle was only the beginning!
After helping the children of our first village draw and bring water to their village and realize how hard and time consuming it was... We decided that instead of donating what we did, we needed to raise $100,000.00 towards giving 30 more.
We left our home full of hope and excitement for our humanitarian trip to Uganda Africa! Whatever could go wrong did! Stay tuned for tips and tricks of what to do while travelling internationally in the new normal!

Our 17yr old graduated early and got accepted into a great university. The process... Here it is!

Switching from sending kids to school every day to homeschooling them full-time. There can be an overwhelming feeling as you realize that you are now 100 percent responsible for your child’s education.
“How will I keep them busy and learning all day?” This is a common misconception many first time homeschoolers have when they switch from public school to homeschool. Over the years we have homeschooled our kids, then sent them to public school, then homeschooled them again. We have transitioned back and forth many times and in today’s episode, we share our best tips for making the switch.

Thanks to Covid-19, many parents find themselves working from home while at the same time educating their kids from home. Many are doubting whether it can all be done without one suffering at the expense of the other.

Homeschooling used to be this weird thing that hardly anyone did.
”Kids need to be social and need to be at school where they can make friends and be taught by qualified teachers - not by mom and dad.” That was the common objection to homeschooling.
Fast forward to 2020 and with the Covid-19 pandemic still raging on, homeschooling has become a real option for many parents. While public and private schools are doing everything they can, parents are concerned that with kids being kids, they are not going to stick to the rules.
So what can you do? How can you ensure your children are successful and you don't lose your mind in the process?

Why was Jase on a 4 month fast from dating or even talking to girls!?

IF we were able to be motivated to get to the next task, the next action, even to the next thought without being pushed by some outside source... we knew we could succeed!
After noticing this as the common denominator of the success of each of our companies, we decided to implement this into the lives of our children.
We want our children to be able to do whatever they want to do.
We want them to be able to thrive in a career working for others, see massive success owning and operating their own ventures or whatever it may be!
The only way that they can thrive and be successful is if they learn what makes them tick and motivates them to go after it!
This is what we have tried to instill in our children and just like everything... we have some wins and some losses!
But man are the wins cool and the losses teach us how to pivot and keep cruising and crushing!

Something we read many books on, and tried to learn almost 2 decades ago, was how to get your kids to do chores and get them to like it.
No books did exactly what we wanted, but after talking to many seasoned parents and authors and loads of trial and error with our own kids, we came up with a plan.
The plan has adjusted and been tweaked as we learn and grow and our kids do as well, but the skeleton has stayed the same.

We had a bad relationship with goals and actually hated goals and purposely didn't set them for a decade!
We needed to think about goals differently than we had.
In 2019 we decided to give goals a second chance and learned how to focus on the journey instead of just the destination!
Once we changed that aspect of our goals, all of a sudden we started noticing that our stepping stone goals were being accomplished!
We actually forgot about the massive goal at the end because the journey was so much fun! A third of the way into the year we realized our insane goal was within reach.

Our biggest year EVER, was our hardest year ever! Before 2019 we hadn’t set goals in over a decade. We will admit it, we were burnt out! We had so many perfect plans that didn’t work out.
We had some plan B’s and C’s and once it got to the E’s and F’s we decided to just put our heads down and push as hard as we could in whatever direction our path lead!
Our path lead us into a crazy direction and so come beginning of 2019 we decided it was goal setting time again! We took a different approach this year than we had before.
We set 2 numbers goals and the rest were just experience goals we wanted to reset for our kids. We truly wanted them to learn to love education and learning.
With that we embarked on a crazy year and got so caught up in the experience and journey that we forgot about our number goal until Nov. we realized that our vomit goal was within reach if we really stretched and so we did, we stretched and stretched and then VOILA! Our wildest dreams came true and it was the hardest thing we’ve ever done!
We are so excited for 2020 stay tuned for how we decided to not set goals by setting goals not to set goals!

We were, unbeknownst to us, halfway through our journey in Hawaii with a video store we were about to close a real estate brokerage that had plateaued and an action sports company that was on the rise! Things were exciting until Real Estate got sabotaged, sports company moved to the mainland and we had a decision to make!

Rachel and I have been starting businesses since before we were married back In 2002. We have been saving up and traveling since then as well. We had children at an early age and decided to get them Immediately Into It with us! Klailea was born In 2003 and at the end of that year we up and moved to Hawaii and started a new retail store. Then It began! We launched many businesses from the front desk of that retail store. In fact, Klailea and Rykels first business was born on that countertop and kept running until we split their businesses up In 2017.
