4 Minutes: Recent Episodes

Cameron Kruzel

Hello, and welcome to the 4 Minutes podcast. My plan is to publish a new episode every Monday through Friday. Each episode will be between 4-5 minutes in length.

This podcast is designed to be a quick, focused burst of energy. At the moment,

Most importantly, my hope is that the podcast is a fun and enjoyable part of your day.

Consistency is the name of the game in anything you want to achieve.

Today, I talk about the concept of batching your work whenever possible to get ahead. If it’s not technology related, you obviously can’t batch your activity.

Batching will help you stay consistent with posting every day. Now, if only I would actually do this!

Maybe we’ll talk about this next week!

If you want it as bad as you say you do, ask yourself this question…

What are you willing to give up for your goals?

Today I talk about an 8 year goal (sports related) that I achieved as a senior in high school.

It required extreme mental focus to finally achieve it! And obviously, a ton of time working on my game!

As I begin to get back into writing, I thought it would be fun to give a tip each week. Let’s start with a softball.

When you’re creating content of any kind, it needs to be audience focused. There are several ways to do this. Today, you’ll learn a very simple tip for connecting with your audience on a more personal level.

The best part is…you can begin implementing this right away!

Trying a a new concept today, and every Monday…I’m calling it Money Monday!

Today I talk about debt and a conversation I had about it over 20 years ago. Getting out of debt is a slow, long grind, but it’s 100% worth it for the freedom you’ll experience on the backend.

Money is always a hot topic, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s show. Let me know what you would add to this discussion!

Today’s message is simple and it needs to be said. You only get one go around in this world, so make sure you are enjoying your life.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t a time and place for business. Of course there is. You want to be sure you’re enjoying the process though…and not spending all day on social media because some guru said it was necessary.

Enjoy your time on Earth as much as possible! You don’t want to be 80 years old regretting that you didn’t have more fun because you were too busy creating content for social media instead of making real connections.

When it comes to social media you can post about anything…

Whatever you do, just don’t be one of these hucksters always pushing sales!

You know the type. All they talk about is their offer. They don’t care about you…they just want to make a buck.

It can be frustrating to figure out your niche and what you’re all about. If you’re in that situation, it’s more important to get consistent first. Quality will come…but not before quantity.

Want to post more but don’t feel like you have much to say?

Listen to this episode of 4 Minutes, and you’ll discover what content you should be posting to begin!

Seems like fairly sound advice, right?

If you’re contemplating starting a new project, but are hesitating because of how you think it will turn out…start immediately.

You’ll never know if you like it if all you do is work out the pros and cons in your mind. You have to get out of your head and have the experience before you can decide for sure whether it’s for you or not.

What’s one action you tried and ended up being pleasantly surprised that you like it…even though in your mind you didn’t think it would go that way?

Let me know on Twitter @cameronkruzel … I’d love to hear about it!

4 Minutes is back!!

In today’s episode, I talk about how important it is to love your process. It’s everything!!

If you are working to accomplish big ideas, focus only on the process…and not at all on the results. Don’t take a day off either…I learned the hard way through this podcast…one day off can quickly lead to several weeks of inactivity. It feels great to be back and focusing on the process of creating!

So many times we remember the negative moments in our lives. It was fun to talk about one of the best compliments I’ve ever received before.

Mr. Brown’s comment at our Spring Sports banquet in high school was a confirmation that I was playing the game right.

I really looked up to him as a coach and leader. It was awesome for me that he noticed how hard I always tried, even though I wasn’t a very good tennis player.

It’s been an interesting week for the show as I try to figure out the direction of the podcast.

I’ve got a challenge for you today. It’s a tough one, but well worth it if you commit to following through. In fact, I don’t think your life will ever be the same!

Been thinking a lot about how to grow my social media and specifically start talking about a project that I’m ready to turn into a legitimate side hustle.

I finished the book High 5 Habits by Mel Robbins yesterday, and the last chapter really opened my mind. She talked about manifesting goals, but added a plot twist. It’s a piece that she says you absolutely cannot miss if you’re going to be serious about achieving the goals you want in your life.

Today is 1 year since I was a part of an online masterclass called Digital Millennials. The course was all about how to create your own business and package yourself as a Virtual Assistant. I didn’t take action on all that I learned though, and haven’t even attempted to land a single client in the past year. While I regret not going for it, I’m not going to forget about it and jump to the next thing. Regret will make you feel bad about yourself, but you have a choice to use those feelings to propel yourself into action. Don’t let more time go by while you’re wishing…start making the changes today! Remember, you only regret the actions you never took. There is no loss on going for it!!!!

Today, I talk about how we all want the attention of others. At the same time, we also want the freedom to create and express ourselves without the judgement and criticism that having a lot of attention would bring. It’s an interesting topic of conversation.

I went on the road to Savage Arena as the Falcons and Rockets closed out the regular season. It was a tough night as the Rockets swept the Battle of I-75 series this year with a 5-0 record (football, 2 Women’s Basketball, 2 Men’s Basketball). Toledo showed why they’re the regular season MAC Champs with a dominant 96-56 win over Bowling Green. In this episode, I talk about the importance of supporting your friends, and that it costs you more in terms of the relationship when you aren’t supportive of your friends. Remember, people may not always remember what you said or did, but they’ll always remember how you made them feel. When you don’t support the people that care about you, it stays with them and affects your relationship, whether they ever tell you that or not. EDIT In this episode, I mentioned the podcast Big Ben Shady. That was a mistake. The podcast is actually called Like It or Not with Big Ben Shady, which is the stage name my friend Ben uses on his show.

I recorded this in the parking garage after a Toledo Walleye hockey game. I tell tales of the most influential year of my childhood….the 1986-87 season of the one-hit wonder, The Toledo Pride. As you listen, it’s a great reminder to really live in the moment and appreciate what is in your life. You never know how long it will last. I never dreamed back in 2nd grade that the Pride would be gone after just one season. Cherish everything!! We can all do better at putting that concept into practice. Have a great weekend!

I talk about my negative experiences with setting expectations with my wife that I didn’t end up following through on. It’s better to work your plan without announcing it to anyone. People will still notice, and by putting in the work without setting expectations, you avoid others people’s judgement and input.

Quick hitting episode today about the idea that you shouldn’t be living for the approval of others. It’s a mistake I’ve made too many times in my life. When you feel like no one is interested in what you have to say to the world, don’t get discouraged. Instead, use that as permission to post and talk about the topics that matter to you most. Since nobody is paying attention anyways, it gives you the freedom to explore all areas without the pressure to perform or having to deal with much criticism from others.

Negativity is poison. Make sure you are doing everything you can to cut as much as possible from your life. It doesn’t always come from people you choose to associate with. If you’re part of a negative environment, that can have unintended consequences in your life. I talk about how my many years in youth soccer as a referee really messed up my home life. I finally got out of the game in 2019, and have a much better outlook on life in general since then.

View Details

I talk about my struggles with always feeling the need to be doing ‘productive’ or earnings potential activities. Yesterday, I was feeling burnt out, so I tried scrapbooking. It was really helpful to put my energy into a project that wasn’t about achieving any sort of outcome.

It’s Friday, so that means it’s time for another story from my past. Today I talk about my time as a youth soccer coach. There was a huge difference in my attitude as a coach in my own league, Point Place Soccer, versus when I volunteered to coach at our rival league, Washington Local Soccer, a year and a half later. I hope you can see how important it is to do something for the right reason. It’s no fun spending time doing anything that makes you miserable. I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s show. Man, Life is too short to try to please others constantly. I wish I would have taken that advice a decade ago! When you’re trying to accomplish a goal, it’s very easy to want to go all in and overextend yourself. This is a perfect example of developing a habit of action before increasing your efforts.

In today’s episode, I talk about how getting carried away with your sports fandom can damage your other relationships and priorities. Whatever you’re trying to accomplish, it’s always going to be tempting to focus on the outcome instead of the process. It’s sexier to dream instead of do. Today, I make a case for deciding to focus on your actions toward the goal, and not the actual goal itself. I mentioned John Wooden yesterday. Well, this episode is all about keeping your head down, putting in the work, and not looking at the scoreboard. That is a value Coach Wooden taught and believed in. Have a great Super Bowl weekend!!

You only have 100% to give each day, so make the most of it! Easier said than done, right? A thought occurred to me while watching the Battle of I-75 on Wednesday night. As I was watching Toledo dominate the game yet again (12-2 in last 14), I realized that continuity within their program could explain why the rivalry has been lopsided. Bowling Green has started over 3 times at the Head Coach position since 2013, while Toledo has continued to hire from within the program when their Head Coach moves on. I explain why that’s important in this episode of 4 Minutes!
