Take charge of your life and journey. Become accountable and responsible for the life God gave to you.

Is there such a thing as a "Perfect Partner?"

On episode 67 of "Love, Sex, Lies and Reality," I shed light into the "Perfect Partner" myth.

There is no such thing as a perfect partner. We are all flawed and on the journey to discovering who we are and were created to be.

To have an idea that a partner is perfect, is birthed out of fantasies and illusions that we create from mirroring other people than being true to ourselves.

Wishing you a Happy Holiday season. See you all in 2023!

Suicide has become so prevalent in our society today.

According the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the following facts are documented about suicide in the US:

  • The age-adjusted suicide rate in 2020 was 13.48 per 100,000 individuals.
  • The rate of suicide is highest in middle-aged white men.
  • In 2020, men died by suicide 3.88x more than women.
  • On average, there are 130 suicides per day.
  • White males accounted for 69.68% of suicide deaths in 2020.
  • In 2020, firearms accounted for 52.83% of all suicide deaths.

(Credit/Source: AFSP.org)

Most suicidal thoughts emerge from emotional pain/trauma that has significantly resulted in a mental shift than remaining true to oneself. This also affects the character.

There are people who are also still very much high functioning yet suicidal or depressed.

On today's episode, I share on the root causes as well as steps to begin to overcome emotional and mental challenges.

How often do you think about how you are honoring yourself?

Honor is part of commitment and self-respect.

Not knowing and understanding the true self makes it easy to dishonor ourselves.

If you find yourself people please, begging, chasing or allowing others to abuse, control or manipulate you, you are dishonoring yourself.

Learning to honor yourself allows you to gain perspectives into how you practice self-abuse or self-sabotage without being consciously aware of it.

I share tips and nuggets in Episode 65 of "Love, Sex, Lies and Reality" Talks. Listen in and let me know what you think.

So many of us desire a relationship or marriage but this requires a lot of work in our individual lives as well as with the relationship.

A healthy marriage or relationship requires 100% from each partner. However, if only one person is doing the work, it's not going to be a healthy relationship.

Love requires work and it begins with working on yourself first.

I share more on today's episode of "Love, Sex, Lies and Reality" Talks.

Resentment is an internalized emotional pain that we carry from childhood or adulthood and later project on others when we get triggered to gain a conscious awareness of what we need to heal from. Without understanding our emotions and what they are teaching us about ourselves, we project the negative/buried emotional trauma/wounds on others and make it about them. We must understand that everything we feel is valid but without processing the emotions and learning to sit with them to gain knowledge, we allow ourselves to choose conflict and communicate the pain to our partners which may harm the relationship. While it is not a bad idea to communicate what you are experiencing to your partner, it’s is also important to understand what you are experiencing first for the communication to be effective and not result in more conflicts. Sit with your emotions and ask yourself, “what are you discovering about yourself?” What do you need to heal from that may have been internalized from childhood or adulthood? What life lesson are you learning or discovering in order to evolve? What are you giving into that you should establish healthy boundaries around? Have you found yourself struggling with who you are?

You may find yourself doing things you don't want to do or hiding while external perfecting your life.

You may feel ashamed or guilty of doing somethings and you find yourself slipping into dark places.

Whenever you find yourself feeling ashamed, guilty or needing to hide, you are beginning to lose yourself.

You may not be consciously aware of losing yourself but may feel empty or lost in your own world.

Losing yourself begins with an emotional pain/trauma from childhood. You may find yourself repeating the very event while trying to find answers and you are not consciously aware you are doing so.

You may project the pain/trauma on others while your soul is longing for answers.

You may feel unloved, longing for affection/attention, or feel abandoned/rejected/neglected...this is when you often repeat the patterns.

It is time to come home to yourself by embarking on the journey of self-discovery.

“Pain and love cannot be in the same space. You can never love anyone in pain. You cannot truly love yourself in pain. The more pain you carry in your heart, the harder it becomes to love anyone including yourself.” - Kemi Sogunle, excerpt, "Beyond the Pain." Copyright ©2014. All Rights Reserved.

Have you ever met someone and right from the start you shared stories about your life? It suddenly seems like you have known them forever and you start to entrust your life to them.

Out of the blue, their actions no longer seem to make you want to trust them and you feel betrayed.

What initially took place was trauma bonding and dumping of emotional pain/trauma that created the illusions that you have met someone to rescue you. This resulted in infatuation and inflated emotions of anxiety coupled with the excitement that the "rescuer" will take away all the pain/trauma and validate all the feelings and emotions that have been buried for so long.

However, when the disappointment sets in, we must learn the lessons to find our true selves, gain the wisdom and build on trusting ourselves before others.

Do you really know your love language? Does your love language really define what love is in your relationship or help your relationship grow?

Love Languages only create transactional and unhealthy relationships that result in codependency. Love Languages stem up from the emotional wounds/trauma that we carry and do not heal from. We seek for others to meet these needs but become frustrated when the needs are not met.

What will happen if your partner stops fulfilling the love language? Does this mean your partner never loved you? How will you fill the void in your own life?

Have you found yourself struggling with the inner voices that make you criticize, judge or abandon yourself?

Those voices you hear from when you were a child...the negative ones spoken by the caregivers/parents. The voices that keep replaying and lead to thoughts that make you create limited beliefs and awaken fear/ego.

Those voices echo constantly and prevent you from communicating with yourself. They make you shut down emotionally and begin to bury your emotions and feelings.

The emotional wounds make you connect with others who may share similar pain/trauma causing you to trauma bond, get hurt in relationships and recycle patterns repeatedly.

The emotions suddenly ooze to the surface and you are not able to understand that there is an awakening to tap into those emotions, learn the lessons and move "Beyond the Pain."

However, you have to surrender if you want to heal...surrender things that you cannot control: the past, the pain/trauma and focus on what you can control while connecting to the buried emotions to learn the lessons about your life and self. As you connect with your emotions and learn what they are teaching you about yourself, you begin to heal and shift from the persona you created into your true self.

Healing from a breakup, divorce or losss of a loved one can be challenging especially when there is buried pain/trauma. You may have become emotionally numb to some of your life experiences by choice.

However, without uncovering those areas where you have shut down emotionally, you may find yourself repeating patterns that become habits and eventually a lifestyle.

“We become conditioned by repeating patterns that become routine. Those  routines become habits and habits eventually may become addictions. The  challenge, is to strive hard and change so that you can unlearn and  learn while taking risks and making choices that do not allow you to  become stuck or become an addict of your own habits.” - excerpt, "On Becoming Restored." - Copyright © 2014, Kemi Sogunle. Have you ever met someone and your initial conversations began with their painful past experiences?

You listen to them and it seems you share similar experiences.

You begin to sympathize than empathize and try to become the adviser and fixer.

This is how emotional and trauma dumping begins.

If you are not consciously aware of who you are, if you haven't healed from the past, if you are not yet whole, you will trauma bond and get sucked into the trauma energy.

You will believe you have so much in common and you have to make the connection with the other person.

Emotional and trauma dumping are highly unhealthy and unconscious habits that lead to repeated patterns. They do not only affection your emotional and mental health but also affect every area of your life.

Oftentimes, we think the end of a relationship is the end of our world. However, it is the beginning of a conscious awakening to discovering who we truly are created to be.

The end of a relationship is another phase to finding your true self.  It is the phase that exposes the "naked truth" that you don't know who you are.

You have a choice to connect to the real you or continue to get lost in the course of your journey.

However, if you choose to focus on your emotions and feelings, you will create a void that allows you to get lost in time in your own world and connect to pain (in addition to any emotional pain/trauma that exists in your own world).

We often confuse what true love is with romantic love. We forget that love is unique to each one and it takes knowing who you truly are as love, before learning to commune with someone else to share the love with.

We are all born with and in love...in the image and likeness of God, Love Himself. However, we become conditioned by our caregivers into believing and mirroring their version of love without consciously connect to the love within us (as part of our DNA).

We also acquire pain/trauma (emotional wounds) that derail us further as we go through life's journey without realizing that everyone we meet, is bringing us the conscious awakening to reconnect to the love that we and find ourselves.

"You can't give the love you do not have. You can't make anyone love you without loving yourself first.” - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain: A Return to Love." Copyright © 2014, Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

It takes loving yourself unconditionally through commitment to you, to discover the love that you are when you embark on the journey of self-discovery.

“If you don't love yourself, you won't be happy with yourself. If you can't love yourself, you can't love anyone else. You can't give the love you do not have. You can't make anyone love you without loving yourself first.” -excerpt, "Beyond the Pain: A Return to Love." Copyright © 2014, Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

The moment you discover the power of love from within you (by reconnecting to your true self), your perspective about love will change as you embark on the journey to becoming restored.

Have you ever found yourself repeating patterns and cycles, dating the wrong type of partners or doing things you do not want?

Emotional trauma/wounds allow us to live in our shadows while fear and ego dominate and make irrational decisions on our behalf.

We acquire emotional trauma/wounds from childhood and these create limited beliefs, illusions and leave us conditioned while living in/with fear.

We struggle and wonder why we experience so much pain but without embarking on the self-discovery journey, we continue to get lost in our own worlds.

11 years ago, I got tired of living in my shadow. I felt caged and lost. I needed to break free. I prayed a simple prayer for God to remove anything that was not of Him from my life. I was trauma bonded in my marriage. We both came in with emotional wounds. I had been raped at 17 and never healed from him. I had so much childhood trauma that I had not healed from. Everything weighed me down including the back-to-back miscarriages I had. I did not want to go on. I had to find myself...this was the longing I had as I continued to pray.

My marriage fell apart. I began the journey of self-discovery which is very painful but rewarding. I birthed "Love, Sex, Lies and Reality," "Being Single," "Beyond the Pain" and "On Becoming Restored" within the first year of my healing process. I began to add nuggets to my books as I continued to heal until they were published. I became a certified life coach and relationship expert as well as a global speaker on life and relationship issues.

I had to choose to not allow the emotional trauma/wounds to hold me back. I had to break free and find my true self.

Nothing beats knowing who you truly are. You are not the labels others put on you. You are not the titles. You are not the trauma. Those only alter your behavior and make you become disconnected from your true self which comprises of your body, mind, spirit and soul. It is time to re-align with your true self and live your best life!

Life is short and it is for living to the fullest!!

"You cannot love anyone from a place of pain (or trauma) including yourself." - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain" Copyright ©2014, Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

You must find your true self to fully live not exist. The time to do so is now...it is all you have. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Finding a partner who will complement you, involves know what you are bringing to the table as well as what you are being served with at the table. It also entails not just sitting at the table but dining at the table.

You can sit at the table and not be served and that is not what you need when it comes to having a successful as well as a healthy relationship.

If you come to the table with expectations, you may miss out on what is not being said when you only pay attention to flattering words that soothe your emotional wounds than speak the truth you need to hear. It will result in you getting drunk with infatuation and fall for love than build on a friendship that will allow you know and understand this potential partner.

You have to come to the table with your requirements, lay down your core values and set goals. This is not done just once but on the initial dates so that your partner can see who you truly are. It also allows your partner to serve you with information that will make you "Think before you act and reason before you react/respond." - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain." Copyright ©2014, Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

You have to be the chooser and learn to come to the meeting of the minds at the table.

You don't want to be fed with crumbs at the table...this will only lead to you settling for less than you deserve and selling yourself short.

What do you truly deserve when you meet at the table? What do you hope (the information) to leave the table with? Can the information gathered at the table help you make a decision on building on further friendship or walking away without being emptied out?

Can you determine your partner's emotional, mental, spiritual, physical financial or life stability when you are served at the table? Ask yourself these questions.

The table is where you meet and begin to explore opportunities and possiblities.

You can make the table work for you or you can choose to work the table. You however, must remember that "For every choice you make, there is a consequence you will face." - excerpt, "Love, Sex, Lies and Reality." Copyright ©2014, Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

Have you ever had to ask yourself why you keep meeting the wrong type of partners? Does it feel like you are the bull's eye for unhealthy relationships?

Reality is that there are no wrong or right partners. We tend to attract the opposite sex in relationships, based on where we are with ourselves.

You attract who you are.

Growing up in an environment where you may not have received attention, affection or love, may create a void and longing. You begin to fantasize and idealize the partner you believe you need. You draw up that long laundry list of who he/she must be. This only results in disappointments when the idea/persona you have created does not manifest in reality.

Creating a persona based on who you have not become, will lead you to project the ideas based on the fantasies on the partner you meet. The moment you discover that the partner is not meeting up with the persona you have created, you begin to try to fix them.

The truth is that you cannot fix anyone. You also cannot give the love you do not have.

For example, if you are looking for a partner making six figures, you have to be making six figures yourself. Everything you want that partner to manifest, must first be manifested in your life. That is the only way you can be on the same page with each other. Your values must align. Your needs must be met by you not your partner.

If you are not in alignment, you will experience major unresolved #conflicts which are usually due to the unhealed/buried emotional wounds.

You have to become the love you wish to attract and keep. You have to allow the partner see those values in your life and exercise your healthy boundaries where needed.

If you keep choosing the wrong partners, you are fleabagging (repeatedly dating partners who are wrong for you).

Have you ever pondered on what your greatest fear is?

Most of the time, the greatest fear we have is that others will discover our truth and shame us. We fear what they will think, say or do. Reality is that when we allow fear to hold us back, we will never truly discover our inner strengths and true self.

"Your greatest fear, holds your greatest strengths." - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain." Copyright © 2014, Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

Fear is what we inherited or developed as coping mechanisms from the painful/traumatic childhood experiences we had. Fear has also been instilled in us by our caregivers who did not know better. This creates limited beliefs that drive our lives and lead us to looking for answers in the wrong places.

We acquire more fear and pain/trauma in the process and become stuck in life while repeating patterns and cycles. We also continue to develop coping mechanisms that make us stay in the comfort zone of pain/trauma while attracting those who are also in the same space into our lives. We trauma bond and become codependents in the process due to fear of being abandoned, rejected or feeling unloved.

The coping mechanisms and limited beliefs make us accept this mediocre lifestyle as our norm.

Understand this: "Fear and love cannot co-exist. You can never love anyone from a place of pain (or fear)...including yourself." - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain." Copyright © 2014, Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

This is why I created the Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle to support you on healing from emotional pain/trauma so that you can stop selling yourself short and become the love you wish to attract. I invite you to come into the Inner Circle to learn more.

As women, we have the desire to meet the one but without healing from our childhood pain/trauma, those emotional wounds lead us to create fantasies and illusions about 'Prince Charming.'

The image of the man from the fantasies is mostly a reflection of the father we never had...the love we never received as a child, the abuse we have gone through, the abandonment/rejection/neglect. The image of the rescuer is what drives us into the arms of the wrong partner.

You meet him and he expresses his fears but without paying attention to the words he utters, your emotions result in self-abandonment while you try to convince him to love and rescue you.

He sees the opportunity to soothe his own pain/trauma and you both trauma bond.

It is all about convenience not #commitment. It is a transactional relationship and not healthy but toxic.

The intense of the pain you both bear and have not healed from seem like chemistry but it is unhealthy emotional attachment.

He gets his way to the cookie jar when you give yourself up with the hope that your relationship will get to the next level. This is how you self-abandon and self-sabotage. He will deplete you and leave you.

You have to understand that he does not know who he is at the stage neither do you. You are both soothing your emotional wounds than healing from them.

He is not the one but the one to awaken you to why you need to heal and not settle or give up your body for a moment of pleasure.

I have been there myself and walked the healing journey. I became a certified life coach and NLP to help others find who they are, heal their souls and become the love they need to attract.

He was never into you. He is not the one for you. You attracted him based on where you are with yourself and who you are at the moment.

Reality is that you deserve better. You deserve to be loved. You deserve someone who is a reflection of you. This is why you have to heal yourself so that you can attract the healthy and healed partner.

This is why I created the Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle to support you on healing from emotional pain/trauma so that you can stop selling yourself short and become the love you wish to attract. I invite you to come into the Inner Circle to learn more.

"There can be no life without relationships and there can be no relationship without life." - Kemi Sogunle

Be it friendship, romantic, family or workplace relationship, we must always ensure that we understand each person's role in our lives and vice versa.

How meaningful or purposeful are the relationships you currently have? Do you know each person's purpose in your life as well as yours in theirs?

Without understanding each person's purpose, we tend to invite chaos, drama, toxic or unhealthy people into our lives.

We lose ourselves as a result of these relationships without being consciously aware of some choices we are making.

Part of what we do in the Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle is to explore how the relationships we have with others affect our lives - emotionally, mentally, physical, morally or spiritually.

If the relationship is draining your energy, then it is not healthy and you should evaluate it and pivot. This doesn't have to be a romantic relationship alone but all types of relationship.

Know who belongs in your inner circle, your fair weather friends list or your acquiantance list, Declutter so that you can unclutter your mind and space. Introspect to see what you need to do.

Always remember that we are who we accept and what we allow. Don't wait until you are getting overwhelmed with the relationship. Understand that you have to believe people for who they show you they are. No need to beg, chase or people please.

Create a healthy atmosphere for yourself. Stop self-sabotaging by inviting those you do not need for your life's journey. Heal so that you can stop #traumabonding. The healthier you become, the healthier you will attract to yourself.

Having a partner is great especially when you have been single for a long while.

You finally meet someone but you may not be consciously aware of the choices you are making as you are running on your emotions. It feels good to have someone shower you with so much affection and attention. It just feels right and you believe you have found "The One."

You may get showered with the gifts, text messages, phone calls and FaceTime/WhatsApp video calls. You may hang out and begin to feel this person's touch.

Red Flag #1: Showing affection and attention too early in a relationship is love bombing. It is done to manipulate your emotions and understand how you will react emotionally.

You share your past emotional pain and it suddenly feels like you have known each other for decades. The slightest touch turns into kissing and eventually become sexual entanglements.

Red Flag #2: Meeting someone who engages in sexual chemistry early in the first few weeks may be due to trauma bonding. This is not healthy. You both are soothing your emotional pain/trauma. This usually leaves you fantasizing about the future but you must understand that it takes at least 3-6 months to know and understand someone as well as build trust.

You may start to express your need to go to the next level in your relationship, asks questions and you discover your partner is now serving you with silent treatment, gaslighting or ghosting on you - Red Flag #3.

This person is not able to handle their emotions or have become overwhelmed by your emotions/feelings, may not be emotionally mature, may avoid some conversations that will expose their emotional pain and open Pandora's box or he/she may not be ready to address conflicting issues.

Red Flag #4 - Having multiple partners in order to avoid being abandoned or rejected by you should the relationship not work out as he/she may have planned. Your partner is seeking for validation and attention from others.

Red Flag #5 - Always blaming the ex for what happened. This partner does not want to take responsibility or be accountable for his/her part in the previous relationship. This is all about control and may also be an early warning sign of an abusive partner.

The Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle allows you to learn how to heal from unhealthy emotional attachments and recognize dating red flags while finding yourself and gaining a conscious awareness of who you are to build a healthy and purposeful relationship with yourself first. I would like to support you by inviting you to join the Inner Circle (an exclusive monthly membership community).

At some point in our lives, we all play mind games especially when we do not know ourselves.

Mind games make us feel powerful especially when we have buried and unhealed pain/trauma. Mind games help us escape taking ownership of our emotions and feelings.

Here are some ways we play mind games:

  1. Setting unrealistic expectations - expecting others to meet our needs without making an attempt on our own.

  2. Projection - projection buried and unhealed emotional wounds/trauma unto others.

  3. Gaslighting others in unhealthy relationships to where they begin to question their own sanity.

  4. Lovebombing - to gain power and emotionally manipulate and control the relationship and partner.

  5. Shaming others - this is also used in the religious settings and is done for control and manipulation.

  6. Auditioning and performing in relationships to win the partner over while people pleasing.

  7. Guilt Tripping - to avoid addressing issues and dealing with reality.

Mind games don't let you "Think before you act and reason before you react/respond." - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain." Copyright ©2014 Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

Reality is that you can feed your mind with healthy thoughts when you are busy playing mind games.

You are what you think and if you allow mind games to take over your thought process, you will make it a habit which eventually will lead to repeated patterns that become a lifestyle.

"What you feed your mind, leads your life." - excerpt, "On Becoming Restored." Copyright ©2014 Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

I teach how to eliminate mind games in the Purposeful Relationship Circle. If you are ready to stop unhealthy habits that lead you further to losing who you are, I invite you to join the Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle to learn how to heal, find and love yourself in order to become the best version and authentic self while still living.

As a woman, you may have wondered why a man is not loving you the way you want him to. You may get frustrated asking him and this may even lead to a breakup.

Reality is: Do you know how to love yourself so that he can seee it within you?

"Love is not something you ask for, love is something you give and it is freely given to you. You can never love anyone from a place of pain/trauma including yourself." - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain." Copyright ©2014 Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

A man has to see you love yourself first. What you present to him must be authentic/real. If he cannot see you loving yourself first, he cannot love you the way you want to be love or even see it . He may also not have the love for himself yet.

You have to understand that you are who you attract. If you are attracting someone who cannot love you, then you have not loved yourself yet.

He is only going to bring to your awareness the need for you to heal, find and love yourself first.

This is why I created the Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle Monthly Membership. A safe community where you can learn to heal, find and love yourself so that you can become the love you wish to attract.

If he does not have true love for himself, he will not know how to love you.

This is the hard truth and reality you must embrace. This is why you have to work on yourself so that he can see you as the love you need. If he does not have it, you will not have to waste your time chasing, begging and pleading with him to stay. You will not become needy, you will not have to settle for less, you will not become codependent or form trauma bonds with him.

You will simply let him know right from the start that he is not the man for you.

I invite you to join the Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle Monthly Membership and begin to learn to heal, find and love yourself first so that you can become the love you wish to attract and allow a man to see you that love so he can truly complement and be a reflection of the love you deserve to have.

Have you experienced a childhood pain/trauma that has resulted in you shutting down a part of yourself?

Emotional numbness happens when we experience pain/trauma. We shut down and do not want to deal with those parts of our story/journey. However, shutting down unconsciously results in us holding on to the pain than letting go of it.

We birth fear, ego and illusions into our world and begin to embrace pain. This results in us attracting more pain into our world while our thoughts become convoluted.

We become triggered once we connect with a partner who brings to our awareness those buried inner wounds/trauma we are yet to heal from. We project our pain/trauma on the partner and end up with conflicts which may result in a breakup. We end up becoming devastated while acquiring more pain without being consciously aware of it.

It may even be that you ghost or shut down during those conversations where your partner brings an awakening moment to your enlightment. As a man, you walk away, tune in to your games or watch TV. You may ghost on your partner and later reappear as if nothing happened.

The more you shut down, the more pain you acquire and attract. Understand that: "Pain and love cannot co-exist. You can never love anyone from a place of pain including yourself." - excerpt, "Beyond the Pain." Copyright ©2014 Kemi Sogunle. All Rights Reserved.

The more you become emotionally numb to yourself, the more you self-abuse, self-loathe and self-sabotage. Understand that it is okay to feel and connect to the emotions to learn the lessons. Those lessons teach you about things you will not tolerate or repeat. They allow you to emerge and become better, stronger and wiser. This is how you build on your strength and become more resilient.

"Never shut off pain until it eats you up completely. Ensure you find someone you can confide in and trust, share your burdens, cry if you need to by letting it all out. No one is conditioned for pain. We all need to address it and let it go knowing that we cannot change the past but we can make a brighter future out of the lessons learned." excerpt, "Love, Sex, Lies and Reality." Have you ever expected someone to do something for you but it turned out that they left you disappointed?

Expectations are a source of life lessons and blessings especially when we do not know ourselves.

They serve as an awakening to conscious living and healing.

Without learning from the lessons expecations bring, we become resentful, bitter and self-sabotage.

Embrace the lessons and turn them into blessings as you gain a conscious awareness to the parts of you that need to heal so that you can move "Beyond the Pain" and "Become Restored."

We often stay silent at the end of a relationship and craw into our shells. We may not have understood what transpired during the relationship and we may have stayed silent during the relationship without sharing our feelings with a partner.

You may have stayed silent to avoid #conflict or #deal with issues that reminded you of your painful childhood experiences and trauma.

Silence can result in self-abuse when you are not consciously aware of how the buried pain/trauma play a part in your life and relationship choices. You may have mastered silence as a child by being conditioned to stay silent that express yourself.

This may have resulted in you developing coping mechanisms that allow you to become a people pleaser while giving your power away.

You however must take your power back than allow yourself remain silence while self-sabotaging and acquiring more pain.

You must heal, find yourself, learn to love who you truly were created to be so that you can become whole.

In the Purposeful Relationship Inner Circle, you will learn how to turn your silence into power and discover your strength as you heal and move "Beyond the Pain" to "Becoming Restored."

Oftentimes, we seek for acceptance and validation from others. This is usually based on the childhood pain/trauma we have experienced.

We may have been told we would never be good enough or never amount to anything. We may have been rejected, abused, molested, abandoned or made to feel unloved. These things drive us to create a narrative that does not define who we are.

We accept spoken words from others that create illusions, birth fantasies and limited beliefs. We awaken fear and ego in the process and begin to shift away from our true essence.

Reality is that no one can give you the acceptance and validation you seek outside of yourself.

You must heal from all the acquired pain/trauma as a child which now manifest in the adult life.

You must find yourself, own the truth and accept yourself for who God created you to be and become. You must learn to love yourself in order to become whole.

Join the Purposeful Relationship Circle to learn how to begin the journey to finding and loving yourself so you can gain a conscious awareness and attain wholeness.

We have been so caught up with life that life has been living us without us living life.

We became so conditioned with waking up, taking a washer and going on until we return home to eat, converse a little and hit the sack!

Covid19 happened and some of us begin to fret about what will happen next. We have not been taught how to live life and now we are given the opportunity to reconnect with ourselves.

What have you learned about yourself since Covid19 hit? How much time have you spent to discover your true self and nurture your soul?

As an introvert, staying home gave me the opportunity to introspect on a deeper level and I discovered some strengths I had buried within.

We often use the word "love" loosely without fully understanding what it is. We have been conditioned through social media (including movies) and fairly tales with what look should be...which is far fetched.

We end up creating fantasies and illusions of the persona we want to be with. We make it about the "happily ever after" without fully understanding the deeper aspects of love.

We easily become infatuated, obsessed, possessive and controlling due to the illusions in our heads. We long for the touch, the kiss and sometimes give in to sex thinking we can get love. This is a transaction and far from what love really is.

The moment we no longer are satisfied or fed with what we expected, we suddenly, fall out of love and the relationship becomes soar.

Reality is that you cannot give what you do not have. What you were looking for may be based on buried trauma/pain you carried from childhood. It is focused on seeking for acceptance and validation. It is emotionally intensified with a thirst for more.

True love on the other hand, is unconditional....you will not fall in or fall out. It is focused on growth and sacrifice...standing in line with you through thick and thin. You won't get the gitters that send you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Loving someone is peaceful. You come as yourself without the pain/trauma. You come into a union of wholeness and recognize your partner a reflection of yourself not a mirage.

Read this: The Difference Between Falling in Love vs. Loving Someone.

Take the time to work on finding who you are and healingyourself so that you are not giving in to a false image of what love is about. Become the true love that you are created to be. Embrace who are you and understand that when you become love, it will be easy for love to find you!

Have you been in a relationship that felt too good to be true or you thought you had finally found "The One" but all of a sudden, your partner ghosted?

You call, email and text him/her but you get no response. You leave voice messages from a place of anger/hurt. You go on a rant with your friends and they cheer you on with the negative energy that supports the way you are feeling about the relationship.

At this point, you are not consciously aware of existing inner child pain/trauma that is oozing out and screaming "I do not want to be abandoned or rejected," "I will never be enough to have a relationship."

The inner child pain/trauma we do not grieve and heal from, can significantly affect our lives for a long period. We end up acquiring more pain and building layers while camouflaging and self-sabotaging.

It is important to embark on the journey of self-discovery so that you can heal and break free from what is breaking you.

Take a break from relationships.

Placing a limit on what you can accomplish or how far you can go in life, creates obstacles not blessings.

Limitations are birthed out of fear, experiences, limited beliefs and upbringing.

Fear shows up in so many forms: fear of rejection, fear of not being good enough, fear of abandonment, etc.

Experiences can be painful, traumatic and can be a source of negative narratives.

Limited beliefs can be instilled or created as a child and those begin to continue to linger/manifest in adulthood.

Oftentimes, we believe that love is not enough for a relationship to work. However, reality is that we have not yet discovered who we are and are not yet whole.

The inner childhood issues/trauma/wounds not addressed ooze out to the surface and result in conflicts that make it seem like love will never be enough.

Taking the time to address these inner child issues and working on become whole will make love be enough for you first.

"Once you attain wholeness, you will come to understand that love is not transactional, it cannot be bought or forced. It is not based on just emotions and feelings but deeper connection to each other's souls." - Kemi Sogunle, Excerpt, "On Becoming Restored." Copyright ©2014. All Rights Reserved.

Love is indeed enough when both partners are whole. The key to understanding love is to finding yourself and learning to know and understand yourself deeply. Only then, can you truly understand that love is indeed enough.

We grew up mirroring our parents and others. We end up creating limited beliefs based on our conditioning of what love should be or is to us.

Without truly discovering who we are, we may end up living in our shadow, acquiring pain/trauma and basing love on what we have acquired/perceived from others.

Join me on this journey to conscious and purposeful living to build on a solid foundation of love...first for yourself and then with others.

"Love, Sex, Lies and Reality" - It's about the passion, the fear, the denial, the trial and the truth! All exist in a relationship but it is learning to find a balance while facing the reality of life."
