Thin Brain Training with Coach Carlene Podcasts is based on Carlene's 15+ years of working with obese women to help them not just lose weight but to keep that weight off. It doesn't matter what diet you use or how fast you want to lose weight, what matters is the mental changes you make to break embedded dieting patterns. What good is it to lose all that weight only to gain it back because once you're at goal you return to the eating habits that made you gain weight in the first place?
Can diet and exercise alone solve all your woes. Probably not but they can help.
In this podcast, Carlene shares an email she received from a mental-health group that espouses all Carlene has been telling people for years. And it is researched based.
Fruits, veggies (especially greens), walking and gratitude have all been shown to increase wellbeing.
On the website for this podcast, she has included the email she received and it has the links for you to go explore the actual research yourself. It's powerful.
All these years working with obese women at RawFoodBootCamp.com has shown us just how true this is. Now even the non-obese, non-dieters can benefit from all that was learned and is now validated by scientific research.

Do you find yourself finding ways to break your diet and it feels almost intentional? Often it is. No one wants to diet. It's easier to quit than to try and then fail. But we don't have to fail. If we understand our motives and we learn to recognize them, we can circumvent them and find success.
Listen to Carlene talk about all the ways we sabotage ourselves to keep from dieting and living a healthy life at a weight we feel good at.

You would be wrong
Perfectionism is a lie
It is an excuse to quit things that are hard
It is an excuse to not give your best
You will never reach your weight loss goals if don’t learn it’s okay to be imperfect

It takes the 3 Ps to succeed at weight loss:
Patience to give your body time to lose the weight.
Perseverance to stay strong long enough to get to goal.
Practice behaviors you need to change.
None of this happens overnight. Practice the 3 Ps if you truly want to change and learn to live fit and healthy for life.

Before any weight loss journey is started, it is so important that you take the time to research the best diet for sustainability based on your food choices and dieting personality. Basically, you need to sit with pen and paper, or whatever device you use to take notes and go through your dieting history. If you don't then your next diet will turn out like your last. Start right. Listen to Carlene describe why that's so important. Know yourself!

Today, we all seem to feel we need to accomplish so much. We need to take care of the world and we need to be the best at everything. If you were to write down your goals today it would become a list, a long list probably. But if I asked you to write down by each goal the last time you worked on reaching that goal, many of those dates would include cobwebs.
It's time we take examine our goal lists and decipher what do we truly want. This audio is all about defining your true wants and then planning a path to achieve them.
I recommend no more than 3 real wants at a time. When there are too many they all find behind. But you knew that already.
Listen to the audio and get to work. What is it you want, what you really really want.

Once you figure out what you want, it's time to decipher how to get there. I like reverse engineering. I know where the end goal is, now what are all the things I need to learn and do to get there.
This podcast is about reverse engineering. I do it for you with my want of building a 13-foot troll. There are so many things I have to learn or perfect to be able to get the guy I want. I need to know those things. Once I know them I can decide what do I need to learn, to buy, to practice to get them.
Those things become my mini-goal list that I work on to get where I want to go.
Once you define your want, make that list and create your path to successfully achieve your want.

Procrastination is the greatest foil to our dreams or is it the favorite excuse to not go after our dreams.
When you want something you have to work for it. You have to work hard for it. That means every day that want needs to be part of your day either actively pursuing it with work and effort, learning more about it, or finding the people you need to succeed to get it.
Surround yourself with reminders of what you want. Pictures, podcasts, google searches, Pinterest, whatever it takes to keep you want in the forefront of your mind then set time aside every day, even if it is just 10 minutes and you are just daydreaming about what it will be like when it happens. Some days you may be too busy to actually accomplish something or you try and get nowhere for that day. That's okay as long as you are mentally engaged with your want daily.
Listen to the podcast and come up with your own routine and strategies for making your want part of your daily life. Then don't procrastinate, go get it done.

Yes, you read that right. There are joys to be found in dieting. In my weight loss journey there were many more joys than struggles. Why? Because I wanted the joy. I cherished the milestones. I concentrated on the positives not the negatives and even on those days I felt deprived and tired of dieting I couldn't miss all that I was accomplishing.
In this podcast I explain how joy is right there for all of us. If we look for it.

Believe it or not, the next day after an event or holiday is oftentimes harder to get through than the actual event. Why? Because during the event we had our guard up, we wanted to prove we were stronger than food, we didn't want others to see us fail. And we tend to do better than we or anyone else around us expected.
But then we wake up the next morning and those strong walls are down and we feel that we deserve just a taste when no one is watching. Just a lick. The cravings and justifications grow fast and we decide we were so good the day before, that all the foods we said no to will cover the foods we say yes to today.
Don't go there. Listen to this podcast and stick it out. Today and possibly the next two are so important to not give into those whispers and cries.
If the cravings get too bad, go to my Don't Feed the Bear 5 Day Series to beat those cravings.

There are so many diets out there. We tend to listen to the latest guru or fad and jump in thinking we will get the same results as those on the testimony pages. Then three of four weeks in, regardless of our success, or maybe it's at the end of the 3rd month, we give up. We claim we're done. We use the excuse it wasn't fast enough, fun enough, satisfying enough.
Instead of following other people's lead, take time to understand yourself as a long term dieter. Research diets. Find one you believe in and then tailor it to who you are as an individual.
It is better to lose 100 lbs over two years than to lose it in 7 months just to gain it back. Or worse, to lose 30 lbs real fast then throw that away because it was too hard.
Knowledge is the true key to success. Know yourself, research the best diet for you. Then go do it.

I have lost so many women at Raw Food Boot Camp who could have lost 100+ lbs and been living in maintenance by now who quit because of one break to their plan. They called themselves all or nothing types and while into the all dropped weight fast and were perfect in every way. Then they had a fall. One fall. Instead of admitting the fall and learning from it, the quit.
Perfection, the idea of perfection when dieting is a lie we tell ourselves, and excuse we give ourselves to quit.
Until we accept this as a lie, an excuse and learn to be imperfect, we cannot be thin and healthy. Give up the lie and learn that falling is part of winning.

CNN the other day had an article about how the Japanese in Okinawa live so long. The villagers had an answer. Eat healthily, get outside, socialize and find your ikigai.
Click here for the link to the article.
This article fits right in with what I had experienced just that day. At Raw Food Boot Camp, we are talking about all the other aspects of why we struggle with food other than just wanting food and I felt Ikigai was the perfect first step into working on this more in depth.
