Everybody loves a good story!Hi my name is Evan and I am so excited that you are here. One of my favorite things in life is asking people about their stories, their experiences, their lives, what makes them who they are. We all have a story. Something that makes us unique. So, here we talk about people's real life true stories and learn more our own stories!
This week we are wrapping up our second season of The UnderGround Movement with a Q&A! We loved getting some good questions to answer for our last episode, and are so excited to wrap up these last few weeks discovering the falsity in the misconceptions we often believe!
Thank you for listening, we couldn't be more grateful for these last few months talking about the Gospel and cutting up with y'all!! As the season comes to an end, the conversation doesn't have to!!

When you go through a season of transformation, there are going to be things that are different. That seems simple enough, right? We don't expect a lemon tree to produce apples...we expect it to produce lemons! When we surrender our lives to Christ, there is an expectation of the fruit of the spirit to be reflected in our lives.
These things seem simple, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, all things we think are easy to produce on our own. But the good news is that the Lord allows us to grow in these things and that they are gifts given to us every day to experience the fullness of God!

Guess what...
We are hearing another example of how the Lord transforms and guides people! We are never alone, we are never left behind by the Father, and He is patiently waiting for you to be a part of His kingdom! Based on a true story is when we look at the story of someone's life, but in a deeper, bigger, and more intentional way. We begin looking at the details of someone dead and then brought to life. We look at someone's story of how their life was changed!
The story of transformation is different for everyone. Who is the main character of your story? who is the author of your life? Who is the person taking lead in your decisions? It's easy for us to say "Me" but the truth is once we give our life to the Lord, He becomes the authority!

Imagine you looked at a packet of seeds to plant a pot of flowers. You get all excited to see the little sprouts grow, you become more excited as the seed begins to take root. Eventually, you hope to see the flower go from seed to full flower. As you wait, you notice that nothing is changing about the seed. You've been watering it, you've been putting it in the light, you are doing what it takes for the seed to transform into the flower, yet nothing is happening.
As believers, we cannot be like the seed that doesn't grow! We should be sprouting, growing, blossoming into the men and women that the Lord desires for us. If we are in the family of God, we should begin looking different. We should be different. We should be set apart. This week we took a deeper look into this concept and discussed the truth behind this!

Everyone has a story! Everyone has a purpose! Based on a true story is when we look at the story of someone's life, but in a deeper, bigger, and more intentional way. We begin looking at the details of someone dead and then brought to life. We look at someone's story of how their life was changed!
The story of transformation is different for everyone. When it comes to Jesus, we can see how he can use anyone. He died for everyone! He is accessible, understanding, and kind. In Jesus we find life! And that is why we share our stories. To promote the one and only Jesus Christ!

We have all have heard the phrase "perfect timing". But in a world where we cannot achieve perfection, we must begin to rely on the Lord for that and give him FULL control. We all want to be in control and be able to achieve the things in life that we set out to do. We are told from a young age we should know what we want to be when we grow up, be confident in our plan, have a plan, and walk in that. But the Lord says, I want you now as you are.
We don't have to fight the battles that the Lord has already claimed victory on. We must submit ourselves to him so that we can be in the perfect timing of the Lord. Tune in as we discuss how we have struggled with this, and the ways the Lord helps us grow closer to His perfect timing and not just ours.

Boundaries. These oftentimes are seen as this serious rule or major setback from "living our best life." What a misconception! Boundaries can be such a formative and special thing for our lives to promote a deep and beautiful relationship with the Lord in how we interact with others! Whether you are a rule breaker or a rule follower, there is a place for you. Throughout this episode, we are going to be looking more into how the Lord promotes freedom within boundaries.
There is nothing like walking in the freedom of Christ. One of the first ways to do this is through accountability. When we share our boundaries and bring others in, we can be bold in the motivation of Christ, even when we may not feel a deep conviction in our actions. We can choose others, and bring our community around us.

Boundaries are fun...right? This week, Evan and McKenna are discussing the benefit, purpose, and misconceptions that come when we deal with boundaries. These are not limited to the romantic relationships we often place boundaries in. What does it look like to guard our hearts, how do we create boundaries? Why are these important? This is a continuous process, not a rule book or a to-do list, or even good vs. bad things, but a mentality based on motivation.
We don't have it all figured out, but we do know that it is important to start the conversation. Listen in, share with friends, search the Word of God to help you decipher the boundaries we need for your own lives.

We have missed you so much and can't wait to dig deeper into what the scriptures say, but also grow together into community!
Marriage. An 8 letter word that brings two people together in love and unity. The word marriage brings about a whole new level of commitment and a covenant together. When you marry someone, you are telling them that I want you, I love you for better and for worse and I will continuously love you and care for you always. How do we know we are ready to get married? How do we know we are capable of being married?
We are the bride of Christ. The Bible is clear about that. He wants to give us his unconditional love and support through all the avenues of our lives. This week, my special guests are Kevin and Brooke Phillips. If that last name sounds familiar, it is because they are my parents! Join us as they talk to us about their marriage, their advice in relationship with Christ, and hear from some of the most influential people in my life.

The word Commitment carries so much meaning. It could be able to make plans, finding a new job, buying property, being with someone in an exclusive relationship. The way dating works means implies that you and someone else are going to be together, with only each other in a bond. Developing feelings can be hard. It can be scary. In today's culture, commitment is the last thing people look for.
Christ invites us into commitment, as scary as it may be, the lack of a relationship with Christ is far more terrifying. This week, Kelly Jo Riden walks with us as we determine what commitment means, how it looks in relation to Christ, and also the reason why we commit! Join us as we break through the "fear" of commitment and truly learn how to commit to ourselves and Christ.

First comes love right? Dating, we have heard about it from the young ages. We used to play pretend and have seen it in the movies. The stereotypical reason that we say we are unavailable as a Christian is “Sorry, I’m dating God…” But what does that statement really mean? How do we walk in life in a relationship with Jesus? Why do we refer to Christ in dating?
Dating can be fun, it can also be hard. It sometimes brings drama, but this week we are talking about the ins and outs of what dating truly entails. Join me and my friend, Seth Brill, as we dive into what it looks like to understand dating more but also hear from him and his wisdom of the dangers of being in a dating relationship! This season of Underground takes relationships to a whole new level and in a new direction. This isn't your typical relationship series!

What does it mean to have a crush? How do we understand what having a crush really means? But beyond that, are we stuck in the crush phase with Christ?
When it comes to our relationship with Jesus, we often stay in the surface level phase like a crush. Join me and my friend, Molly Haire, as we dive into what it looks like to have a crush on Jesus, but also go deeper in our relationship! This season of Underground takes relationships to a whole new level and in a new direction. This isn't your typical relationship series!
