The Battle of Wanat was one of the deadliest battles during the war in Afghanistan. Countless official Army / Government and other civilian organizations have studied and produced papers regarding this battle. What few talk about is – what was – one of the hardest enemies to fight; CORRUPTION. Afghanistan was filled with it. Here is a brief firsthand account from the RC East Commander, Retired Two Star Jeffrey Schloesser.
“The July 13, 2008 battle at Wanat, near the Pakistani frontier, was one of the bloodiest since the Afghan war began in 2001. A U.S. force of 49, plus 24 Afghan troops, desperately fought off an attack by some 200 Taliban fighters, calling in air strikes barely 30 feet from their own positions during the struggle. The platoon, in close combat with Taliban fighters, repelled the enemy after nearly four hours of intense fire at a cost of nine Americans dead and 27 wounded.”

Former female Apache Pilot breaks down her deployment mindset during her tour in Syria. She explains the importance of compartmentalization and how being deployed allows for that full focus on missions.
Although this command team had some difficult moments which challenged their relationship, they were unique in the sense that they were able to successfully overcome challenges without arguing. Having complete trust in each other allowed them to be able to focus on their missions. They both wanted to give a good product to their customer and get everybody in their troop home.
Transitioning out of the military during deployment was not an easy task. It took time as handing over Command is not an easy thing to do. Once out, Kat chose not to take advantage of the many incredible resources out there for transitioning vets as she knew what direction she wanted to go.

The US Air Force (USAF) semi-retired the F-117A Nighthawk back in 2008. It was developed by Lockheed and designed backwards. Started with making it stealthy, then made it fly. It was the first of its kind for stealth technology. It was known as the invisible man and also known as the wobbly goblin due to the wobbling during flight.

He realized that even at such a young age, these Marines were risking their lives for the American population. Scott reflects on how he realized just how young each Marine was when he was writing his first book. Listen to how he describes many of the Marines in his company.
He expected his Marines to “perform superhuman acts, day in and day out, in the face of great danger”.
Scott believes that most people who join the military are looking for some sort of stability. Although the kids aren’t necessarily bred for the military, they all seem to have something in them that makes them protectors.

Imagine fighting in a foreign country where you didn't know who the enemy is and not being able to engage in enemy fire until the enemy was shooting at you.
A retired USMC Infantry Major and best selling author, tells the story of the early days of fighting in Ramadi, Iraq.
Scott, a retired USMC Infantry Major, describes how finding weapons in people's homes was not so black and white, as the enemy would threaten local citizens in order to hide their weapons in homes. In a city of 300K people and all the components that make it a city, were wiped out. It was similar to fighting in the Wild West.
It was the American's goal to build democracy, but it was also the reason that impacted the failure of the Afghanistan pullout.

VETERANS - This is how hiring managers in Corporate America view you.
Former Navy SEAL delivers speech to a group of HR professionals on how to evaluate and recognize the different "buckets" of veterans. He cites the difference between skills and abilities and how veterans can bring their unique experience to the table.
A must listen for veterans who are trying to represent their worth and for hiring managers trying to evaluate the veteran candidates.
You can watch the full interview HERE
Bucket 1 - This person is fresh out of the military with no college degree and will generally use a GI bill to gain their undergrad degree This individual already has more maturity than the average 23 year old.
Bucket 2 - Young officers, 6-10 years in military with under grad degree or might have an MBA. This individual will already have a unique skill set.
Bucket 3 - 20-25 year military career, gets out around 40 yrs old, has more unique experiences to offer.
Bucket 4 - These are usually retired admirals and generals, board member level.
Abilities can transfer out of the military into civilian careers. Not all skills obtained in the military will transfer out. This is why ability is more important. This can determine if an individual can think for themselves.
What makes a good leader? Being selfless, humility, humble, confidence in oneself, understanding and realizing the experiences one went through and how they handle things when challenged with hard stuff.

Jaime Chapman owns a Military Spouse Staffing Agency and is the Co-Founder of the United States Military Spouse Chamber of Commerce (https://milspousechamber.org/)
In this episode of The David Johnson Show, Jaime breaks down the impact of military spouses putting their careers on hold. The military spouse demographic is drastically underemployed with one in four military spouses being unemployed. Jaime tells the truth about being a military spouse and what a day in the life of a military spouse looks like. Since the military spouse unemployment rate is so high, Jaime also details the many aspects of military spouses taking their career from freelancing to military spouse entrepreneurship - military spouse professional development and military spouse education being just some of them.
In this military podcast, we learn that one in three military families move every year. In the five years, Jaime has been married to her Active Duty husband, they have lived in four homes, two states, and a different country. This is one reason why a military wife has a difficult time growing and maintaining a steady career. This is why over half of military spouses turn to self-employment sometime during their “career.”
The Military Spouse Chamber of Commerce (MSCC) is one resource for freelance or entrepreneur military spouses. MSCC has a proprietary certification process that can allow your business to be officially labeled as a “Military Spouse Owned Business” - in turn allowing the business owner to engage in different programs, receive benefits and participate in supplier diversity options the Chamber brings to the table. It’s a true military spouse support system.

With flowing enthusiasm, Keith Caraway shares how he joined the U.S. Army in 1999 and was sent to Germany. He returned to the U.S. in December 2001, spent some time in the army’s Corporal Recruiting Program program, and soon began gaining multiple deployments, including Special Operations. Eventually, Keith spent all of his 20s in Afghanistan. Keith also shares the challenges of transitioning to civilian life.
David & Keith also talk about the drive of being part of the military family, the pride and power when you hear “HOOAH”, the beloved battle cry of the Army. (The phrase ‘Hooah’ is said to have originated in WWII, when soldiers replied to orders from commanding officers with the short word “HUA”, which was an acronym for ‘heard, understood, acknowledged”.)
“Keith’s had a cool military career, and I wanted to share his experiences with our viewers to kick off the new series,” said David Johnson.”Knowing Keith the way I do, I’m sure you’ll feel his passion and excitement, which really comes across in this interview.”

More so than ever the Military and Veteran community has created a culture in America. A sub-culture unique to our way of life, our experiences and the language we speak. Military forces have been deploying to fight the war on terrorism since 09/11/2001 and remain engaged in combat operations to this day. We have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. This mindset of a Soldier, Airman, Sailor or Marine is never lost. Yes, the individual will exit the Military and start a new chapter in their life, however, the culture never dies.

David Martin & Gabriel Uliburri, the founders of Real American Heroes Coffee Company talk with David Johnson about all of the various aspects of starting a business.
Their original plan was for a coffee shop, but that changed into becoming an e-commerce business that is now branching out into coffee shops in Phoenix.
The Air Force veterans were both in logistics which helped in many aspects of their business.
“Fortunately for us, we were both logistics when we joined the Air Force. Gabe crossed over to the fire department, but I stayed in logistics and I’ve learned a lot about the logistics business from transportation, shipping, receiving, the inventory you know all that good stuff. So it really helped me run and do our part,” said Dave Martin.

David Martin & Gabriel Uliburri, the founders of Real American Heroes Coffee Company talk with David Johnson about how they started their business.
While deployed in Kuwait, David Martin & Gabriel Uliburri came up with a plan to launch a coffee company after they returned. They did research when they could and lined up places to call on after their return.
They found a great company that not only has excellent coffee but has helped these military entrepreneurs with their business offering them guidance on running a business.
“Especially transitioning from military to business. There's a lot of similarities with that, but they just kind of made that connection for us. Not only did they help us with coffee or fresh coffee but also kind of just guidance and what it's like to create a business.”

Matt O’Brien of Mint Social, our guest on “The David Johnson Show,” has been in the digital marketing space for nearly 25 years. He speaks about how veterans can use this coronavirus time to find their passion, channel their energies, ignite their purpose, and put it to work in the community.
“In this coronavirus time, I want to ask veterans ‘What's your passion?’ Can we get veterans to start businesses and have an impact on the community? More people are working from home. So when you're back at home and your company may or may not still be around, what can you do? Find what your passion is. What motivates you to get up in the morning and make a difference in this world? How can we channel those energies?”

Digital marketing strategist Matt O’Brien of MINT Social shares his insights on “The David Johnson Show” about what’s coming next in the worlds of technology and the Internet, and how veterans can find their niche in the emerging opportunity to become an influencer and make an impact.
"The shallow, empty soul that some people feel that influencers are, is shifting. It's can be a take, take, take, and all about me. Whereas if all of a sudden the formula changed and it's all about these influencers that are changing the world and they also happen to have a great story because they fought for our country. That's got me interested.”
“What's happening today is it's transforming from a cloud-based, give-away-a-service and make money on the data to blockchain (it is coming in) and cryptocurrency is going to impact the world and digital marketing and advertising.
So, what we see is the disassembly of the big social networks, Life After Google, what's next? Companies give away all these great tools, but they're making money on all of our data, right? So what if you could make money on your own data from your activities online, from exactly what you do. So it's influencer marketing meets blockchain, and all of a sudden your activity online can be monetized. And there are social networks out there right now, like, Patreon. They are a podcasting network where people can make money off of their shows and we're seeing momentum. It's gonna take time, but that's the next big movement going on.
If you're thinking of starting a business and you realize that a change is emerging online, that all of a sudden an influencer that actually delivers impact, that has an impact in the community, and is having a possitive impact on people online...that is huge.
The shallow, empty soul that some people feel that influencers are, is shifting. It's just a take, take, take and all about me. Whereas if all of a sudden the formula changed and it's all about these influencers that are just changing the world and they happen to have a great story because they fought for our country. That's got me interested.”

Aaron Bare, a multi-talented entrepreneur who is co-founder of the Herozona Foundation, speaks on “The David Johnson Show” about an entrepreneur’s journey, which often involves failure more often in the early days, which lead to successes later on.
“To get to success, part of that equation is failure,” says Aaron. “The reality is, is I’ve failed at more businesses than I’ve been successful at. Some would say I’m successful, I can tell you there’s also people in this world that would say I’m a failure. Regardless, it’s moving forward, and, I think that’s the mindset and innovation around being exponential.”
“I think it’s the persistence and willpower of veterans to overcome failure,” adds Aaron. “ The reality is we shouldn’t really call it failure. Mistakes are learning opportunities, they are points to move forward. At the end of the day, the idea that you’ve thought you had to start a company is going to be completely different by the time it becomes a company. In that process you’re going to fail forward, but you’re going to make a lot of mistakes. The faster you fail, the faster you actually reach success.”

“The veterans that we work with and have worked with in the past, they understand how the organization works,” says Bare. “They understand how to make decisions. They understand how to move things forward. They understand projects. If everything’s in a project in the world that I live in, you take a veteran and you move them into a system that very much has rules. Here’s what you need to do to accomplish those goals, and once you accomplish them, then you go to the next stage. Veterans succeed very well on that.”

Aaron Bare, co-founder of the HeroZona Foundation, speaks with David Johnson about certain types of entrepreneurs and how he wants to help others create businesses.
“I've been what you call a micro-entrepreneur. I've been able to start a lot of different companies and then find management teams to take them and accelerate them. That's been my model. I'm more in love with the idea of generating ideas and helping others create businesses than myself going and running a company. I don't see myself running a billion-dollar company. In fact, most of the companies that I've gotten to steady revenue, I grow bored of and I move on,” Aaron Bare states.

Matt O’Brien, Phoenix-based digital marketing professional and community builder, is our upcoming guest on “The David Johnson Show”. In this clip, Matt shares how he was able to refocus his business to work with people and companies striving to make a difference in their community.
“You have a lot of layers on you. You're like an onion. And God was just peeling away the layers that had been calloused in me to see and really genuinely connect. Once I got down to a layer and the epiphany came.
I have the ability to transform my company from anybody that wants to just work with me to putting it out there and saying, I want to work with spiritually focused and purpose-based businesses that are impacting the world. And it starts locally in your community (the one you're in). What are you doing in the community that is going to get my attention? We don’t hug brands, we hug people.
I don't care about what you're selling to me until I know you're a real person that I can connect with. And that's what's missing in the entrepreneur startup space -- we're so focused on getting a business and making money, and we forget about how we can impact the community. And if we start there, all of a sudden your story is much more interesting.”

Our new episode is a story of struggle and tough circumstances lived by a fellow veteran. In this new episode of “The David Johnson Show” - The Veteran Talk Show” we speak with Renford Ligon, who shares his story of growing up in broken homes and living rough on the streets of Dayton, Ohio.
Renford was raised in very challenging circumstances, being born in Pennsylvania, and later moving to Ohio at his early age. Then his family moved to Los Angeles, where he attended elementary school, while living out of a conversion van that served as the home for the family. After his brother got hit by a car, the family moved back to Dayton, Ohio to be around the support of the bigger family.
Renford went to four different high schools and later played football, but broke his leg in an early game. He ended up being out on the streets while in his mid-teens. Eventually, when faced with being on welfare, he joined the Army. For Renford, he had no other option. If the Army didn’t work out, Ligon had no other choices. He did his basic training at Fort Jackson, working in AIT, Airborne School, and Ranger Indoctrination Training.
Ligon eventually served 20 years in the army, in a top tier 1 unit with the Green Berets, and served in Iraq, doing fire fighting at extreme levels, then being sent home. In 2012, he started another 5 years with the Army as a contractor, going back and forth to Afghanistan doing gunfights with the Taliban, running through the US base.
We are happy to share Ren’s story of being a kid from Dayton who went through the military and has come out with an amazing future ahead of him, seeking to help people through his 22lbs organization.
Today, Renford is writing a screenplay, and living in Los Angeles. “I’m the king of one-liners!” he says.

Season 2 of “The David Johnson Show” - The Veteran Talk Show continues with an enlightening episode with Ms. Danique Masingill, President/Founder of Leashes of Valor, who discusses her work with military dogs to help post-9/11 war veterans.
In her capacity as LOV’s president, Danique is at the forefront of efforts to advance both the law and science surrounding service dogs. Danique’s knowledge and experience helped quickly establish her as a canine expert. Congress, The Department of Transportation, the Government Accountability Office, and the airline industry have all tapped Danique’s expertise to craft wide-ranging policies governing service dogs and military canines.
For years, the U.S. military has enlisted military working dogs for various aspects of detection, apprehension, and other tactical duties. Dogs were used in this capacity in WWI and WW2 as well as in Korea and Vietnam. In fact, there were some 3,700 military dogs sent to work with the soldiers in Vietnam. By contrast, only 117 dogs were used in Operation Desert Storm, according to the U.S. War Dog Association.
Danique Masingill background
While serving five years in the Navy, Danique Masingill first learned about military service dogs. The lightbulb that went off for Danique was that she was seeing dogs being used in life-saving areas like in mental health, trauma, PTSD and other areas related to combat-repercussions. Previously, she had only known dogs to be used for military detection work, apprehension work, the types of tactical needs tactical work.
She saw a path in creating an organization for 9/11era veterans to help get through their combat trauma with the help of military dogs. Today, Leashes of Valor is a national non-profit working to provide post-9/11 veterans with highly-trained service dogs to help them limit the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), for example. The mission of Leashes of Valor is to bring veterans in need of companionship together with service dogs in order to enrich and improve both lives. It’s a very worthy mission.
We are thrilled to share Danique’s story with military veterans. To learn more about Danique, read this article from her college alumni magazine.

“The David Johnson Show” - The Veteran Talk Show - continues with a heartbreaking episode of loss and suicide with U.S. Army Veteran Cindy McNally and Marine Corps Veteran Andrew Farrer, both of who are currently involved with Irreverent Warriors, a non-profit organization that works to bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide.
In the first half of the episode, Cindy and Andrew share details about their military background and the trials they both faced in tackling life’s challenges. The second half of the program covers their work with Irreverent Warriors, and how they create meaningful connections for Veterans through Silkies Hikes. These are amazing community events for active duty men and women and veterans to get together to hike, connect, promote community and raise awareness for suicide prevention and other traumas faced by vets.
Watch episode 2 of “The David Johnson Show” below or on our YouTube channel to see the amazing camaraderie that exists in the veteran community. Read more about Cindy and Andrew below the video clip.
Cindy McNally bioCindy McNally is President/CEO of Irreverent Warriors, designed for active-duty soldiers and veterans. She is also a founding member and past president of WilCo Blue Star Mothers, an organization with the mission to support other military parents.
Cindy came from a military family, having seen both her uncle (Marine in Vietnam) and father (36 years in Texas Army National Guard) serve their country well. She joined the Army in 1978, straight out of high school and into Fort Jackson. Her class was only the U.S. Army’s 2nd class of co-ed basic training, and “they were still trying to figure things out then” remembers Cindy in the clip.
After two uneventful years as an admin clerk, she joined the Texas Army National Guard, where she received her commission and stayed on as a tack officer. She eventually met a Marine who became a fighter pilot and eventually married him. They were married 22 years, raising three children, and her husband flew for America Airlines for 21 years. Sadly, her husband had insurmountable psychological issues that resulted in him taking his own life in 2007. From this experience, she became deeply involved in helping veterans through her non-profit organizational work.
Andrew Farrer bioAndrew Farrer, now active with Irreverent Warriors, joined the Marines at age 26, and served in 2005/2006 in Iraq, fighting in Al-Karmah and Ramadi. He received a Purple Heart in 2006, having received shrapnel in his foot during a patrol.
In the program, Andrew shares some of the duties of working in these pivotal wars. “We did posts, we did patrols, I fired my gun a lot, I cleaned it a lot, I walked a lot, and we lost a lot of guys in that time,” remembers Andrew. Like Cindy’s sad experience, Andrew also lost his father, a Lt. Commander in the Navy, to suicide while he was in boot camp.
It’s the unclassified story of the manhunt for Saddam Hussein as told by lead interrogator Eric Maddox, a U.S. Army Veteran who spent 6 months serving in Baghdad interrogating members of Saddam Hussein’s inner circle. In this episode, Eric shares the stories, challenges, and the process of how his team gathered all the key intel that led to Saddam Hussein’s eventual capture.
He eventually shared his story about his experiences in Baghdad in his book “Mission: Blacklist #1”.
The David Johnson Show is the veteran talk show about points of interest within our culture – The Military and Veteran Cultural.
Transitioning from the military world to the civilian world is a major step for many veterans, one that likely doesn’t get discussed enough among veterans. On the new episode of “The David Johnson Show”, a national voice that talks about points of interest within the post 9/11 military and veteran culture, David speaks candidly about the transition to civilian life with James Lloyd, former Drill Team Marine, and current photography/videography entrepreneur.
James Lloyd served in the Marines for nearly five years (2008-2013), acting in various roles as an infantryman, ceremonial marcher, silent drill platoon, and later deployed to Jordan and Afghanistan. While in the silent drill platoon, James appeared all over the USA, performing with his Marine team at awards ceremonies, NBA halftime shows, and elsewhere.
“It was fun,” says James. “You have to develop a level of discipline and attention to detail to even make it on the team. That helps you become self-sufficient.”
James then served in combat infantry in Afghanistan in 2011 with the 3rd Battalion 7th Marine Regiment (3/7), a Marine Corps infantry battalion. He eventually reached his expiration of term of service (ETS) and came back to the Phoenix area.
After getting out of the Marines, James struggled to find a new niche for his skills and talents. He moved from job to job, often searching for a new passion in work.
“When you’re in the Marine Corps, you have one purpose. You have a unit of guys who have the same core values and all that stuff.
And when you get out, you kind of lose that,” he says. “And so, my biggest struggle was trying to figure out, OK, now that I’m done with the Marine Corps, what do I do now? So I was left without an identity and I kind of struggled to find that.”
James continued searching, went to film school for a year, found strength in Christ, and persevered. He relied on his faith to pull through the struggles.
“We saw people going through very similar things, and you then realize like Jesus is always there for you,” says James. “And my faith is what got me through that.”
In the past two years, James started a new video production company called Striking Media, which he realized was a passion for him, and he’s working with that today.
David Johnson says “I’ve said it on the show numerous times and I’m a firm believer in this knowledge is cumulative. You don’t know what you don’t know in your 20s and you think you know a lot. And you get older and you learn things. I’m 38 now, and have been a full-time entrepreneur for 13 years now.”

On the new episode of “The David Johnson Show,” a national voice that talks about points of interest within the post 9/11 military and veteran culture, David speaks with Gabriel Uliburri and David Martin, aka Gabe and David, the founders of RAH, Real American Heroes Coffee Company.
Real American Heroes (RAH) Coffee Company launched in December 2018, and has grown since and partnered with the largest coffee roaster in Arizona to offer seven delicious coffee blends, using only premium beans found all over the world.
“Our goal is to share our military experiences, discipline, and drive to create a respectable brand that provides our customers with great tasting coffee blends, apparel, and the honor of being part of an amazing culture and a brand that recognizes the Everyday hero,” remarked Gabriel.
Their friend Todd Martin handles the financial side of the business, Gabe runs marketing and social media, and David is in charge of operations. Their skill sets came together when they were serving as U.S. Air Force Reservists in Phoenix, Arizona. They were deployed to Kuwait in early 2018. During that year, the three of them manned weapon systems as combat convoy gunners while defending off IED’s, small arms fire, and Vehicle Borne IED’s. They saved the lives of lost hikers in the forest as Search & Rescue members, drove in the President’s motorcade, responded to worldwide humanitarian disasters, fought raging house fires, responded to downed military aircraft, and volunteered at homeless shelters on Christmas in Korea and in Japan.
In their military service downtime, they would often discuss their entrepreneurial dreams over cups of coffee. Coffee was their story time and time to reflect on important things, that’s when RAH Coffee Co. was born.
David says “We wanted to create a brand around our passion for coffee and find a way to highlight these real American heroes and the service they do daily, the actions they did to save another, or months they spent in a war zone away from their families.”

David Johnson speaks with Aaron Bare, a multi-talented entrepreneur who is co-founder of the HeroZona Foundation, which serves the Arizona veteran community and national veteran interests.
Aaron Bare calls himself a “micro-entrepreneur”, meaning he’s used a model to start a lot of different companies (3 non-profits, 12 companies sold) and then finds management teams to take them and accelerate them. Aaron’s experience helps veterans to really understand the process to move from having a great idea, to put it into practice in a business solution.
David Johnson speaks with Bare about a new program he’s launching - the Heropreneur Academy - an entrepreneurial incubator designed specifically for active military veterans and their spouses to teach and promote entrepreneurship.
Bare notes that the Foundation's free course will help veterans basically incubate their idea, test to see if it solves a problem for consumers, and see how it tests with customers.
Currently, Aaron Bare is Co-Founder & Vice-Chairman of HeroZona Foundation; Founder of Namaste Republic, the Arizona Accelerator, & Author of Reimagining Innovation. He also teaches courses on entrepreneurship and innovation and has a wide-ranging background in entrepreneurial business.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA, UNITED STATES, April 13, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The David Johnson Show is a new online video show giving a voice to military veterans and military fans in the post-9/11-era.
Premiering in April 2020 at https://thedavidjohnsonshow.com, “The David Johnson Show” is an episode-driven showcase for the American military and veteran sub-culture. Each show episode showcases a different guest with a different story.
Just as each previous military generation had its stories, topics and issues, like the WWII veterans and Vietnam War veterans, post-9/11-era veterans from Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) also have their own culture, community and camaraderie. “The David Johnson Show” will give a wide voice to these veterans and their stories.
“There are 3.3 million veterans who have served our country since September 11, 2001, and my show is designed to bring a community to these post-9/11-era veterans,” said show creator and host David Johnson. “Veterans from this era will definitely enjoy the show because they can clearly relate. We hope you find something impactful from each show that hits home to you. We can all grow together by opening our minds and remaining open to new ideas.”
“The David Johnson Show” will feature a different guest each week who uses military principles to enact change in their communities. He will also focus on military veterans who are growing into new successful civilian lives, as well as entrepreneurs who can help those in the military and veteran communities. Each episode will be available for streaming on your preferred device.
Johnson hopes to move his show into areas similar to how Joe Rogan’s show has shown to be successful, with its unique raw emotion and intense intellectual pursuits.
“I love what Joe Rogan does with his guests,” said David Johnson. “He may speak to a film actor or a book author about their work, but the discussion will often move beyond the expected topics into new areas. That’s our aspiration for the show, to provide educational, entertaining content for our audience, while building a community around The David Johnson Show.”
“The David Johnson Show” is produced by Promotion Board Media, and is the first of several new online video shows planned for the military and veteran community. These shows will be professionally produced, present great information and offer a wide range of related content, like web downloads, DVDs, books and other merchandise of interest to the audience.

In this episode on The Science of Combat and Eliminating Fears, learn about the combat mindset, the offensive mindset and what Jerry Peterson calls the Empathy Link. Apply this mindset and watch your life transform in front of you. Jerry and Blake Peterson of SCARS INSTITUTE OF COMBAT SCIENCES.
The Science of Human Movement - Jerry Peterson of SCARS talks about how he got into studying martial arts after he returned from Vietnam. He analyzed all different forms of martial arts then looked at them from a different aspect and wondered about the science.
After over 35,000 hours of research, he founded a process he called "Peterson's Dominant Process Systems" which is a combination of geometry and human movement.
“After that, I said, "That's it. This is the science of human movement. The science of how humans can take their body and do anything with it that they need to. They can handle a gun, knife, club, multiple fights." I took it to the government. That's how I got invited to go talk to a group of Navy SEALs.”

The latest guest on The David Johnson Show is Lt. Commander Retired Navy SEAL Jon Fussell. Jon is a former Business Manager at Wellington Management Company, the largest independent investment management firm in the world, and founder of Patriot Leadership Development, a consultancy in which Jon teaches physical and mental approaches to leadership for corporate executives.
In the full episode below, Jon speaks about the importance of coming together and working as a team; his business work in the corporate world; how his military training and leadership has impacted what he does today; and how veterans can adapt to new situations to understand how to move ahead.
“You have to figure out how to work as a team,” says Jon in the episode. “Going through SEAL training, you can't survive that as an individual. You're not getting through there. I'm not going for miles, and miles, and miles, of running with a 400 lb. telephone pole on my shoulder. I certainly didn't do that as an individual. Miles of paddling and rowing, with a 400 lb. boat on your head. You're not doing that as an individual.”

This week’s guest on The David Johnson Show is Navy SEAL veteran, Craig Sawyer, aka ‘Sawman’, who has transitioned from his Navy SEAL and counter-terrorism military career into working in television, the Internet, humanitarian non-profit work and mentoring young veterans on their post-military lives.
In the episode, Craig shares his story of how he started initially with the Marines, but moved into the Navy SEALs in his early 20s. Craig served in the Gulf War (1990-1991), gaining combat experience in Desert Shield and Desert Storm as an Operator at SEAL Team One.
He was later promoted to the Naval Special Warfare Development Group or 'SEAL Team 6', a Counter-Terrorism unit administered by US Naval Special Warfare Command.
In the early 2000s Craig transitioned to a new role with the U.S. Air Marshal program and spent most of the ‘00s in Air Marshal service.
His military operations skills helped him get chosen to lead a military commando team in Africa to halt rhino poachers. This started his work in TV production, movies, acting, voiceover work and more in the past decade on networks like Animal Planet, the Military Channel and The History Channel.
In recent years, Craig’s humanitarian efforts have manifested in his work to combat child sex trafficking through his non-profit Vets4ChildRescue - https://vets4childrescue.org.
“Craig’s background is so amazing, it should really give hope to other military vets looking to make a mark after military service ends,” said David Johnson, host of “The David Johnson Show”. “Craig said to me recently, "I'm in my 50's and I'm just now finding the real passion in my life." That in and of itself is a powerful story. To be in the 50's, with everything he’s done, to see him writing a new chapter is very inspiring. I hope our viewers feel the same.”

The David Johnson Show launches this week with our first guest Keith Caraway, a 20-year military veteran who entered civilian life in early 2020.
Keith and David have known each other since high school (Shadow Mountain HS, Phoenix) and share a lot of remembrances of their military lives. Click below to the video to watch a segment (or entire episode embed?) from the full interview.
