Kayla Peters was diagnosed at 10 years old with being on the Autism Spectrum. Kayla is currently 20 years old. The journey with Kayla being on the Spectrum along with her having some other conditions has had & sometimes continues to come with some challenges and times when things are going well. Kayla has come a long way since she was initially diagnosed which is a blessing. Kayla continues to have the support of her family, different professionals, friends, family, etc. as she continues to live out the life the Lord has destined for her to have. Kayla loves to watch movies, cooking shows, go bowling & out to eat just to name some of her favorite things to do.

“Awareness is knowing that somebody has Autism,” said Christopher Banks, CEO of The Autism Society of America. “Acceptance is when you include a person with autism in your activities.”Mar 27, 2023"

"What is the difference between autism awareness and acceptance?

Awareness can focus on symptoms and what is “wrong.” Acceptance focuses on real people, recognizing their strengths, complexities and individuality. Acceptance doesn't assume that a difference is a weakness and allows people to decide if they want support and what kind of support would be most helpful to them. Apr 4, 2023"

Shun working in the Imaging Department of the Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Both are dedicated in doing what’s pleasing to GOD. We also have two businesses, Images of Art Photography and Stich N Sew Embroidery LLC. In February 2023, their world as they knew it changed drastically. Art was diagnosed with stage 3 Squamous Cell Carcinomas of the Head & Neck (Cancer). The Cancer was in his lymph nodes, tonsils, tongue and behind the nasal cavity. The TORS (Trans Oral Robotic Surgeon) Advised us that surgery would not be an option because of where the cancer was located. BUT WATCH GOD!!! Their plan was to administer chemotherapy and radiation shrink the cancer, then surgically remove the remaining. Art underwent 38 radiation treatments and 7 rounds of chemo in a 7-week span. Then a cat-scan, which showed NO CANCER."

Coach Smedley spent ten years working inside a maximum-security jail. Prior to that she spent years working in community corrections, treatment centers, and shelters as a contractor with the State of Ohio. In 2022 she launched a virtual reentry program for family and loved ones of the incarcerated to support their loved ones. Coach Smedley lives in New York.

Sister Francine Perry's bio in her own words. "I am the mother of Laura Perry, who lived as a transgender for almost 10 years.

Paul and I will soon celebrate 54 years of marriage. We have 3 adult children and 2 granddaughters. We have been members of First Baptist Church of Bartlesville for 40 years where I serve as church pianist and accompanist for our sanctuary choir.

After years of “working hard” for the Lord apart from a growing and thriving relationship with Him, God brought a devastating event into my life 14 years ago which resulted in an act of my absolute surrender to Him.

My youngest daughter, Laura, transitioned to and lived as a man for almost 10 years.

Praise the Lord, He was faithful to use this traumatic event to bring me to the end of myself where I found His victory and peace even in the depths of this dark valley.

He has given me the privilege of teaching His Word for the past 12 years to a group of women which has grown from a small group of 12 to a group of about 140 women. Our Bible study, www.comegrowwithmeonline.com currently reaches many countries around the world. My passion is to teach of the freedom and victory found in Jesus Christ for all circumstances of life.

God led me to start a Prodigal Prayer Box and Ministry which has afforded countless opportunities for me to encourage and minister to Moms of prodigals.

God has been gracious to provide many opportunities for me to share my story.

Laura and I have shared our story at several conferences in the last 5 years.

Interviews have been aired by American Family Association, Compelled, Everyday Ministry, Freedom Realized, Revive Our Heart and others.

Laura and I were guests of American Family Association in 2020 during “Prodigal Prayer Emphasis” week. We participated in 12 radio programs encouraging parents regarding their prodigals.

I was privileged to appear in American Family Association’s movie, In His Image."

Lauren Byrd's bio in her own words. "Love Perseveres started with a vision and a passion. I always knew I wanted to start my business but I didn't know what I wanted to do. I grew up always hustling and I even started working at the age of 14. Even though I didn't have to, it was something about having my own money. Trying out different business ventures I finally found something that finally stuck.

It was a crazy time in my life and I found out I was being diagnosed with a so-called deadly disease HIV. I thought my life was over and for that one moment I had to learn how to love myself. I had no other choice. I wanted to be here for my daughter. To only find out that was only a stigma , I could live a healthy life if I chose to. For this moment I was finally putting myself first and loving me. I remember growing up and my mom taking me to Christian book stores and how it made me feel. (I loved it) . That day I went and purchased a love journal. I came across the scripture in 1 Corinthians 13:7 and the final words were love always perseveres. At that moment I knew everything would be alright. As my relationship grew with God, so did my passion. So I decided to incorporate the two. Ministry and fashion and I said to myself that's it.... Love Perseveres. That's how Love Perseveres was created.

Here at Love Perseveres I want to share how amazing God's love is. If he can save me . Then he can definitely save you too. ....Love Perseveres where we give you ministry through clothing."

"Antoinette is a Christian author who has written several books from a collection of poetry and sermons that the Holy Spirit has put on her heart during the different chapters of her life. When she is bothered, her heart is heavy, or she is just plain excited, she is led to write it. She is also married with 3 children while she and her husband also run several businesses from home including a Kingdom Principle ministry where they make Kingdom Principle t-shirts as a way to spread the gospel along with bracelets and earrings. Her motto is, "Don't just wear it, share it". Her prayer is that anyone who reads her books may be blessed from the inside out, encouraged and will just be motivated to keep the faith and stay on the path of righteousness even when the road gets rocky. Antoinette is a prime example of how God can still use anyone no matter what you have been through or how many mistakes you have made. After almost dying on the job as a Philadelphia police officer, she knew there had to be a purpose for her survival. She took the hurt and pain from losing custody of her first born to being nearly divorced and allowed God to use her to encourage and inspire someone else. No matter what life has thrown at her, she still believes in the goodness of God, spreading love, encouraging others and doing good no matter how much wrong has been done to you."

Pastor Denise A Slaughter bio in her own words. "Pastor Denise A Slaughter is a native Delawarean who grew up in Slaughter Neck (aka – Lincoln) community. She attended local area public schools and is a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School. She went on to pursue an education at Del Tech Community College where she earned her Associates in Applied Science Degree in Human Services Technology and continued on to Wilmington University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Science.

Pastor Slaughter started out as a young girl attending Wesley Chapel UME Church in Lincoln, DE. It was here that she agreed to attend a Seminary class, guided by her late grandmother, Daisey Daniels, and fell in love with preaching, teaching, and singing the Gospel.

As Pastor Slaughter grew in the things of God, she joined Christ’s Church in Harbeson, DE where Rev. Martha Tankard is the Presiding Pastor. Rev. Tankard saw the gift of God in her life and ordained her as an Evangelist and Pastor Slaughter also served as her Armor-Bearer. It was during this season that Pastor Slaughter began to be developed in the Prophetic calling on her life, and she served faithfully here for about ten (10) years.

In addition to serving in various capacities of leadership throughout the years, Pastor Slaughter served under the direction and guidance of Pastor Edward C. Parker of Old Welcome Full Gospel Holiness Church, located in Ellendale, DE, where she served for many years as an Evangelist, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Treasurer. Pastor Slaughter then went on to serve under the tutelage of Apostle Ivory Hopkins (Founder/Overseer) and Bishop Leven Bailey (Pastor) of Pilgrim’s Ministry of Deliverance located in Georgetown, DE, where she served for ten (10) years as an Evangelist, Choir Director, Praise Team Leader, and Youth Sunday School Teacher. It was here that Pastor Slaughter was trained and gained extensive insight and walked in the Prophetic and Deliverance Ministries.

Following years of preparation, God released Pastor Slaughter to embark upon her own ministry. She was ordained as Pastor of Kingdom Restoration Ministries, Inc on October 10, 2015, by her former Pastor, Bishop James G. Hazzard. She has devoted her life to God in true worship and desires to be used to motivate, inspire, and restore the Body of Christ to serve God in Spirit and in truth, by up-building His Kingdom in the earth. Pastor Slaughter can be heard preaching and teaching God’s Holy Word every 1st & 3rd Sunday on Face Book Live at 2:30 pm, every other Sunday at 11:30 am, and every Wednesday night, teaching Bible Study at from 7-8pm.

Pastor Slaughter has an anointing that allows her to minister to those who are in need of healing of the mind, body, and soul, and can often be heard saying, “Keep It 100”, because she believes, and knows firsthand, that only thru “Keeping It 100”, with God, ourselves, and others, can we receive the healing, guidance, deliverance, peace, and FREEDOM, that God has for us. She is supported in her ministry by her husband, Elder Joseph L Slaughter, and is the mother of 3 children, and 11 grandchildren. Her ultimate desire is to see people fully embrace God’s love and to walk in victory and power while experiencing the fullness of God’s promises."

"Daniel and Lynette Trawick are Kingdom Entrepreneurs, Mentors, Speakers, and parents of eleven children. Born and raised in Philadelphia, they both have a deep desire and passion to serve their community in many different aspects.

Daniel is the Founder and Executive Director of The H.O.M.I.E. Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to clean the streets in the community, both literally and figuratively, by conducting neighborhood clean-ups and beautification projects; empowering residents by promoting love, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and mindset shifting, and mentoring the youth to recreate the “village” by Helping Others Make It Everyday.

Lynette is the Founder and Executive Director of I Am U, Inc., a non-profit organization serving cisgender, heterosexual women ages 25-45 years old. The original mission began with a strong focus on supporting only women living with HIV (I Am YOU). Gracefully the original mission gave way to the creation of a more inclusive side of the organization called I Am University, a non-restricted community, focused on teaching all women the power of self-love and practical ways to embrace the ‘true you’.

Together the Trawicks have educated on the topics of HIV/AIDS and love through workshops, presentations, skits and other creative methods, as well as using personal testimonies on how HIV/AIDS and God has affected and impacted their lives to reach their audience in a genuine and powerful way. HIV/AIDS was just one of the vehicles God used to bring this couple together, but God alone is the driving force to bring glory to his name."

Brother Andrew L. Gardner III's bio in his own words.

Meet the Founder and President of Brothers Like Me, https://brotherslikeme.org/

Andrew L. Gardner III (Certified Anger Management and Domestic Violence Prevention Specialist; Associate of Arts in Communication, Theatre and the Arts) is Founder and President of the innovative nonprofit organization Brothers Like Me. Since Fall of 2020, through the organization, Andrew has presented interdisciplinary workshops where he teaches solutions for men who struggle with self-regulation and de-escalation. Andrew helps reduce intimate partner violence by building up men who learn accountability and empathy in hands-on workshops and courses for various audiences.

Andrew has been invited to lead discussions with adjudicated youth, military college cadets, church groups and domestic violence survivors. He is an effective speaker who shares about his struggle to become an instructor and advocate. After witnessing domestic violence growing up, he successfully re-framed and changed habits that led him to have difficult relationships himself. The most innovative aspect of "Brothers Like Me," is Andrew’s use of self-made video dramatizations of difficult conversations between intimate partners; in conjunction with practice using alternative and corrective solutions, as well as constructive de-escalation behaviors.

Between October 2020 to present day, Andrew has trained upwards of 150 men and women on how to manage themselves and grow empathy for partners and family members. Especially remarkable is his ability to talk from experience about ways to accept accountability, ask for forgiveness, and take deliberate steps to build back trust amongst friends and loved ones. Recent clients and workshops include:

Fall 2020 3-Part Series on Origins of Anger and Strategies for De-Escalating Conflict for The My Brother's Keeper Men's Ministry;

October 2020 Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Conversation with Community Survivors (Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church - Mt. Airy and Cheltenham, PA); Winter 2021 Aftercare Evening Reporting Center (Philadelphia, PA); 6-week Course in Anger Management; and the 2021-22 Arts Against Anger Community Video Project (Ardmore, PA).

Andrew and his team at Brothers Like Me are combining their scripting and film skills with his background in theatre. Having acted in stage versions of Shakespeare’s King Lear, Oscar Wilde’s Ideal Husband, and Frank Capra’s Arsenic and Old Lace. Andrew likes to use drama and improv in conjunction with communication, breakdown case studies, and teach workshop participants to see themselves in video dramatizations, where couples argue, then manage to de-escalate and prevent violent conflict. Andrew is available for speaking engagements, consultation, and workshops.

He writes:

"Life is a one-way destination traveling on moments, meaning you can never go back to the moment before. All you can do is focus on the moment that’s at hand and create better moments until the day you land.”Please feel free to email Solomon & Jamila Jefferson at info@itsnothowyoustartbuthowyoufinish.com for comments, questions, etc.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to be blessed by our different married guests for this episode which we pray for those who listen will be blessed as well.

The first married couple featured in this episode is Brother Walter & Sister Tawana Sabbath, Ph.D. “We met while Walter was a student at Antioch University Philadelphia. He was a student of my good friend who invited me to help her class to brainstorm for a major project. What I didn't know was that Walter who was coming out of a broken marriage had prayed for a woman in his life that didn't have to love him but could grow to love him. When he saw me, he knew that I was the answer to his prayer. He actually told three female classmates that I would be his next wife. At our wedding three years later those same women told me how ridiculous they told Walter was. He says, ‘I gave God a list of 12 things I wanted in a wife. After we were married I took stock and found that He had given a baker's dozen or 13.’" Brother Walter & Sister Tawana Sabbath, Ph.D. have not only been partners in marriage for thirty-five years but they continue to serve/work together as the co-owners of their business the Walter E. Sabbath, Jr. Funeral Service, www.sabbathcare.com, that has been in business for twenty-eight years.

The second married couple featured is Pastor James & Sister Minnie Reid. "Pastor James and sister Minnie met at church in Washington, DC. God orchestrated their paths to cross. Pastor James & Sister Minnie have been married forty-eight years. Sister Minnie spent forty years as an educator. James Reid spent 23 years in retail before becoming a full-time pastor. Sister Minnie received a Master of Science Degree in Education. We first married in 1965 but divorced in 1980, started dating again in 2000, and re-married in 2009! God truly works in mysterious ways. I had never planned on marrying again, and not marrying my first husband again!! But God!! We pray every day to maintain our marriage, it is a work in progress. Do pray for us. We want couples to persevere, don't give up-let God guide your steps and lead you as you strengthen your relationship every day. Sister G. Patricia “Pat” Moody received a Bachelor's degree in Business Education in 1964 from Hampton Institute, (VA) now it is Hampton University. Rev. Dr. George B. Dr. Renee Harvin's bio in her own words.

God’s Amazing Grace

I was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania at Temple University Hospital on July 28, 1957. I grew up in North Philadelphia with both my parents. I was the oldest of 6 children with my mother, in all, I am the oldest female of 14 siblings. I attended the Philadelphia school system. I never experience being hungry, being without clothing, or not having a place to live. It was by God’s amazing grace. I loved going to church, and I was filled with the Holy Ghost at a young age. By the age 14, I stopped going to church and it seemed that is when the devil pounce upon me. I became adventurous, promiscuous, curious about life, I was smart, independent, but gullible, naive, always making the wrong choices in life. I had my first two sons out of wedlock, and my youngest son was born on my first-year anniversary. I was 23 years old. I was successful in school obtaining my first Associates degree. I purchased my first home, working two jobs, caring for three sons and all that came with.

My lifestyle enhanced with the drinking of alcohol experimenting drugs and hanging out on weekends. I was emotionally fearful of this lifestyle because of intimidations, controlling, and not realizing it was the beginnings of an addiction. I tried to slow down this lifestyle. I stopped participating in routines during weekdays, socializing only on weekends, going back to church with my sons on Sundays, and giving my family the attention, they needed. But, still doing things “Renee’s way.” March 1987, I experienced the trauma of my middle son being killed in a car accident, he was 9 years old. It seemed like my life had ended too, and instead of turning to the God I thought I knew so well, family, or other supports, I turned to and I lived a life of drug addiction for 10 years.

Now let me talk about my healing and rebuilding. Praise God I went back to work after 10 years of addiction. Through that whole time, God never left me, nor forsaken me. I have been clean and sober for over 23 years to date. Through this time, life continued to happen. With more trials, tribulations, and triumphs. By the grace of God, all my children are doing well. I am blessed with a total of 23 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Through this time, I continued to fellowship and study the word of God at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, since 2007. Doing various ministries. I also achieved my associates, bachelors, master’s, and PhD Degrees. God opened doors, and the place where I started my healing, 1997, Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard, is where I have started a career working as a counselor, and an Adjunct Professor at Alvernia University for the past 7 years.

I am 63 years old, and guest what, I know God is not through with me yet. He is about to open another door and its about to blow my mind and yours. The Word says in Philippians 1:6 “For I am confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." It is by God’s Amazing Grace I am here today; it is all for His Glory.

Sister Marsha R. Banks's bio in her own words. "Marsha R. Banks is a mother, motivator, a catalyst of change, and an inspiration to men and women seeking to transform their lives and unveil the miracle within them. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Amiracle4sure, Inc., https://www.amiracle4sure.com/ a flourishing ministry that is focused on renewing, refreshing, and restoring life of individuals whose lives have been impacted by negative experiences. Marsha believes that everyone has the opportunity to breathe new life into their lives even when they have made mistakes along the way. She encourages and empowers men and women to look within and see who they really are, what they can become, and how they can experience the life, they truly deserve regardless of their past mistakes. Her career as an educator, counselor, and mentor is founded upon the belief that everyone can live the life divinely intended for them and she helps these individuals find healing from past hurts as she guides them through the transformation.

Marsha’s vision for Amiracle4sure emerged from her own personal experiences. As a child, she witnessed and experienced various levels of abuse. Becoming a young mother without any knowledge of child rearing, she sought for love in all the wrong places. Trapped in an abusive marriage for 10 years she turned to drugs and ended in prison where she served 3 years. Her transformation started on the inside, learning to start with forgiving self and then allowing God to work through the rest, she found solace in knowing the God had a plan for her future. After discovering how to create a map for her own life, she wanted to share her experience and knowledge with individuals with similar life experiences. It has since become her mission to help men and women believe, create, and attain their intended life dreams. She uses mentoring to fulfill this mission, along with ministry, consulting, and speaking opportunities. Marsha has been home for 25 years now and she has taken these skills to prisons, rehabilitation facilities, and churches with the intention of educating communities on the needs of this population. She has successfully trained and empowered professionals interested in working in reentry practices.

Marsha’s commitment to helping others restore their lives after incarceration is evident by her community involvement. She earned her Associates Degree at Harrisburg Area Community College, where she became the First African American Student Government President, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree at Lebanon Valley College, while chartering their first Kiwanis Circle K Club, and then graduating with Honors, she earned her Master’s Degree in Public Service Leadership. She believes the knowledge gained in these areas partnered with her empathic approach she is able to deliver service with excellence. As an advocate for reformation, Marsha brings her “expert by experience” to the table of various community organizations. She sits on the Board of Directors for Council of State Government, Trainer and Facilitator for Healing Communities of PA, and Advisory Board Member for Correctional Ministries Chaplains Association. Marsha is also the lead vocalist for The God Squad, a ministry that shares worship and carries a message of hope to those in homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers, local transitional houses, and prisons. I have been working as a school psychologist since 2006 except for a brief hiatus when I attended Palmer Theological Seminary from 2012 to 2015. I earned a master’s in theological studies and also met my now husband Bryan. We married in 2014 and have a three year old daughter. My favorite aspect about the work I do is engaging with children and supporting them.  I always knew even as a kid that I needed to work with kids. In my role, I support special education students by developing and overseeing the implementation of individualized educational programs. I also knew I would only feel fulfilled in a career where I help people. In addition to working with my students, I enjoy when I can help a parent navigate the educational system and support them as they support their child in school.”
