Estroe started DJ-ing in 1998 and is regarded as one of the few international female DJs who made it to the top. She has travelled to the USA, the Caribbeans, Russia, Canada, Japan and across Europe. Estroe was one of the residents at the Off the Record nights at Club Ma22o from 2002, where she worked closely with Steve Rachmad, Cellie and Carlijn. Many established DJs and producers were invited during her sets: Adam Beyer, Joel Mull and Anthony Rother, amongst others. Meanwhile, she was also involved in a new talent night called Set Off, and the experimental soiree Explicit Sounds which she organised together with Steffi, who is now resident DJ at Panorama Bar, Berlin Her career took off from there. Her style developed quickly and in more recent years, Estroe has been known for her warm, subtle mixes of techno and tech house that fluently evolve from delicate and warm music to darker sounds with energy and groove. She likes to set the tone at the beginning of an evening, and is also in her element when performing at peaktime and not scared of throwing in some old school techno and electro. Being a real people’s person, she is able to crank up the tunes and create a brilliant vibe on the dance floor. Many top producers started out as DJs. Estroe is one of them. Her delicate and profound productions are not about maximum compression, distorted hi-hats or full-on bass drums. Instead, they are about atmosphere and space. Estroe started producing several EPs and singles (on labels such as Lessismore, Little-D, and Muzikism) before releasing Driven on Connaisseur Recordings in 2007. This track sparked the interest of several big names. Ellen Allien chose Driven for her Fabric.34 mix CD. John Digweed was blown away by this minimalist masterpiece and promptly asked her for a remix on his Bedrock label. Estroe’s long-awaited debut LP Elemental Assets, featuring a guest appearance from Miss Kittin, followed in 2009 via Connaisseur Recordings and received widespread critical acclaim. Just recently this year, Estroe released her second album Comfort and Closure (EevoNext Recordings). With her sophisticated, warm and elegant productions Estroe hasn’t gone unnoticed among other DJs. Dave Clarke booked her for his White Noise parties and she’s a resident at his Dave Clarke Presents event (Melkweg, Amsterdam) twice a year. She is also a frequently asked remixer, as is evident from the number of times her remixes for Bedrock, Manual Music, Tulipa Recordings and Cinematique hit the charts.
This recording captures our live set at Lab1 in Eindhoven, where we had the pleasure of supporting Andrea Cichecki. Dear Soundcloud follower, lately, there haven't been many musical updates. In recent years, I've been busy working at a conservatory for electronic music, where I'm actively coaching students. It's been incredibly rewarding, and I've dedicated myself to it wholeheartedly. However, about a year ago, I started exploring modular synths and purchased my first modules.So if you come across this recording of my modular performance at Voltage Control in Paradiso don't be surprised; it's quite different from my DJ sets or previous productions. Was this performance perfect? Not necessarily. But for a debut with the modular, I am satisfied and plan to do this more often. It's been a while since you've heard from me, but recently I've been working on a remix for a Dutch artist called Ross Curry. It was fun working on his track because it's a different genre as where I normally work in. I've tried to respect the original track as much as I could, using fragments of the vocal and using some of the same melodies but with different sounds. Hope you enjoy this & looking forward to your feedback!
Some background info about Ross Curry: Ross Curry came to the attention of Dutch music fans in the early 1990’s when he formed the band Spo Dee O Dee. Based in Amsterdam, lead guitarist Curry was the undisputed leader of the trio which was inspired by the heroes of 60’s and 70’s guitar rock.
Growing up in Liverpool , Ross Curry drank from the water of his powerful influences. His guitar style today carries on the country’s tradition for loose and fluid play. Spo Dee O Dee went to the forefront of the Dutch rock scene with several years of successful touring and two albums “Going Walkabout” (1991) and “Second Coming” (1993).
The closest Spo Dee O Dee came to radio success was the single “Lady Sleep”. For better or worse, it was just peaking when Curry turned his attention to his new solo project Shamus. The catchy pop songs made up the album “Doolally”. After a six month tour, another (self titled) album followed in the late 1990’s. Taking a breather from the rock ’n'roll scene for a few years, Ross Curry was enticed by the famous Dutch duo Acda and de Munnik to play (and act) in their popular rock opera “Ren, Lenny, Ren”. Curry continued his comeback with a series of tribute sessions and live projects which earned him legendary status at the large and prestigious annual Zwarte Cross Festival in the Netherlands.
In 2019, Ross Curry shared some of his demos which were immediately determined by Zip Records (Amsterdam) as worthy for a commercial rebirth and promotion. Self recorded by Curry, the tracks were mixed by JB Meijers (The Common Linnets) and the album title chosen was “Blind Samson Eye”. Curry’s new album was scheduled for launch in the Spring of 2020. Along came COVID-19 to throw a wrench in the works. The decision to sporadically release 2-3 singles from the album was the obvious solution to the delay.
Some of the songs released as singles have performed great on the Dutch Indie Charts. All four of the previously released singles reached top 5 positions, with Wake Up Dead reaching nr. 1 in the summer of 2020.
Hi guys, it's been a while! Nowadays I'm teaching at a music conservatory and I'm doing a lot of mental coaching of music students and music people in general. (hence the lack of time) But as I couldn't find a nice techno mix without to much breaks for a tread mill or for a work out, I figured I might as wel make a mix myself.

In 2009 Rottler & Deer remixed ‘Le Flaneur’ by Estroe featuring Miss Kittin. Rottler started a dialog based on the lyrics by Miss Kittin, while Deer rolled out a beautiful melodic layer. Now, a decade later the story of this collaboration is taking a next episode. Estroe remixed ‘Epizentrum’ a song from Rottler’s band Lenin Riefenstahl. Estroe translated the lyrics in Dutch, sang the lyrics herself, gave fuck on her shoulder injury and belt on her bass guitar. The result is stunning… a dreamy, laid back, melancholic electronic acoustic moody track that will hopefully enchant you.
This is Estroe’s description of the remix: “ When rottler asked me to do a remix and pick a track from their album I chose Epizentrum as my favorite because I was instantly drawn into the moody and melancholic vibe and thought I could work with that athmosphere. When Rottler told me that he was looking for a vocalist for my remix I thought ‘ why not try myself?’ Lately I have been making baby steps with experimenting with my own voice. The remix took a little longer because I wanted to make sure that my vocal achievement was complementary to the music arrangement and to professional standards. So i asked several singers and colleague music teachers from the music conservatory where I work for feedback until I was convinced that I could send it to Rottler. I felt extra pressure because of the remix he and Deer made of Le Flaneur, it’s one of the most beautiful remixes ever made of my music so I wanted to return the favor by delivering something extra special. And to my relieve he loved the result. I also played the (basic) bass line with my own bass guitar, so this a project with two debut elements which makes it even more exciting to present it to the world.”

Borderline's nervous and busy percussion, with its scratchy hi hats and twitching clicks and blips take the track down an angst ridden road in an insecure mind. There is a dormant volatility in the track like someone who has been on edge for too long. The percussion is beautifully juxtaposed however, with sombre pads and a haunting melodious bell like synth that morphs throughout like the pensive moods of someone who has to live with the condition.
D.Diggler sheds a different light on Borderline with his interpretation of the original. This time the focus is more on the melodic side of the track. The bassline dictates the pace as it pulses underneath. The melodious bell synth is still present but the contemplative atmosphere is reinforced with long sweeping pads that give the track a blur, like a passing moment. The nervous turmoil of the original track's percussion lies in the not too distant background like a reminder of troubled feelings.
Nightshift has an engaging quality in that while full of motion, there is an air of calm in the track. The kick drum and bassline dance around one another in a hurried fashion while restless percussion and blips bustle around in the background like dutiful machines fulfilling their purpose. Yet, the sedate and soothing pads bring a reassuring warmth and humanity to the track. The soft chiming melody rolls through the piece like distant alarms while occasional resonant sweeps sigh like laboured last breaths.
There is an alluring innocence to Slaapliedje. It's playful springy bassline sets the mood, and with its intermittent resonant peaks, like small birds singing, suggests a fond childhood recollection of a time when the world was full of wonder. Scurrying percussion and more bouncing and sanguine synth elements bring the picture alive in one's mind. The drone pads bring with them a gentle optimism with their softness and melody and seem to burst into song from time to time like sentimental memories.

For Rosedale 020 I (Estroe) welcome Brett Longman with his own distinctive style. Brett is a singer/songwriter and producer. He describes his music as “minimal grooves, sensually driven by electro sounds” and got in touch with me after he noticed that I used one of his tracks in a mix. He really liked what Rosedale was doing musically and sent some tracks in. We met in Paris recently and are planning further releases 😃

Murk is a thick primeval soup of heavy breath-like drones and atmospherics. Intricate percussion dances and fidgets through the track like small organisms viewed under a microscope as they move in a drop of pond water. The steady pulse of a single bass note provides the underlying tension while thin string pads give a sincere sense of melancholy and emotion amongst the mysterious feelings of awe and wonder.
Estroe’s Querulant marches along like a soldier of war, mentally conditioned and who is hell bent on achieving their objective. Organic sounding percussive jitters and mumbles are like repetitive reminders of hypnotic commands while the sharp razor edged stabs suggest an implanted sense of violence. Sombre strings and pads hang in the background like pensive reflection or guilt of the soldier’s deeds.
