Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. While states are legalizing marijuana for medicinal and recreational use, there is a dark underbelly to smoking pot. We’re told that it’s good for pain relief, but cannabis is actually associated with greater pain over time. It’s far from benign. Marijuana leads to other drug use. One study found that pot users were almost three times as likely to use opiates down the road. And rather than helping depression, it can cause or worsen severe mental illness, especially psychosis. Teens who use pot are about three times as likely to develop schizophrenia. Today’s pot is anywhere from 10 to 12 times stronger than the pot of the 70’s.There is an alarming connection between today’s marijuana and violence. People with schizophrenia are five times as likely to commit violent crimes as healthy people. If you’re smoking pot, stop. And if you’re not, don’t start.
