Some jokes don't stay jokes. Four years ago, calling a podcast Faark the Shoulds was mostly just funny - a release valve for how much of adulthood runs on quiet obligation. It's still funny. It also became the actual way this family makes decisions, including the ones that matter.

That's what Episode 64 sits with. QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill mark four years of farking the shoulds by asking the harder question underneath the joke: what does taking "is this a should?" seriously, every time, actually do to a person and a family?

The truth of it is that it doesn't make you more certain. It makes you more honest.

There's something almost too simple at the centre of it: you can feel a "yes" in your body before your mind builds a case for it, and a "no" the same way, usually earlier than you'd like to admit. Most indecision is just talking yourself out of a feeling you already had, because someone else's expectations had already decided the acceptable answer.

Once you start trusting that in yourself, it gets harder to keep overriding it in your children. A hug forced on a child because a relative expects one. A swear word swallowed because nice families don't say that. Neither is really about hugs or language. Both are small moments where a child's honest signal gets quietly corrected for someone else's comfort - and small moments are exactly where trust in your own body gets built, or worn away.

It's why, when their eldest was working out whether a trip overseas was something he wanted or something he felt obliged to do, Jodi and McGill didn't make the call for him. They asked the same question they ask themselves, then got out of the way. He came back with more questions than answers - which turns out to be exactly what taking a should seriously looks like.

For the parent trying to raise kids who trust their own no - and, if they're honest with themselves, for anyone who's spent years being polite instead of honest, and is curious what the other option actually feels like.

Four years on, it's still faintly ridiculous to call a swear word a philosophy. Listen to why it's the one that's actually endured.

What happens when a man actually knows his job in the birth space?

Not “just be supportive”.
Not “rub her back and stay out of trouble”.
Not standing in the corner like an awkward extra waiting for someone to hand him a script.

In this bonus crossover episode of Faark the Shoulds, QuantiMama Jodi joins Nathan Francis from the Breaking Free podcast for a conversation that roams across masculinity, addiction, school, tech, inner knowing, and the absolute farce of how disconnected people have become from their own truth. But one of the most potent threads running through it is this: birth can forge a man too. Not by turning him into the hero of the room, but by calling him into presence, protection, steadiness, and trust.

Jodi speaks so beautifully here about what happens when a partner isn’t sidelined by the system or numbed out by modern life, but actually initiated into his role. The silverback. The guardian of the perimeter. The one who doesn’t need to take over, but absolutely knows when to step in, hold the field, and back his woman with his whole chest. It’s not performative masculinity. It’s not chest-beating nonsense. It’s devotion. It’s discernment. It’s the kind of masculine presence that makes a woman feel met, not managed.

And because this is QuantiMama, the conversation doesn’t stay neatly in the birth room. It widens. Into children climbing trees. Into families being trained out of their own instincts. Into the way school, tech, labels, and convenience keep pulling people further away from the body’s knowing and deeper into compliance, noise, and second-guessing. Again and again, this ep comes back to something beautifully simple: your body already knows. The problem is not the knowing. It’s the interference.

There’s also a really lovely undercurrent in this one about love. Not the showy, polished kind. The real thing. The kind that forges itself through birth, truth, risk, partnership, and being willing to live in a way that actually feels like yours. The kind that asks better questions. The kind that stops waiting for permission.

This one is for the men who know there has to be more than numbness, porn, performance, and playing small.
For the women who are done dragging everyone to consciousness.
And for the families who can feel, in their bones, that the default path is not it.

Press play for a conversation about healthy masculinity, empowered birth, trusting your inner compass, and remembering that the Shoulds are usually where things start to turn to custard. There is a better, truer way and we'll all be richer for it.

"Mum, stop pushing me. I'm not ready."

Dr. Maxine Therese's son said this at the school gate when he was small. She was not dragging him. She was doing what most of us do - quietly, persistently, anxiously moving him toward the door. He named it before she could. And she had to sit with what it meant that he felt it even when she wouldn't admit it.
In Episodes 62 and 63 of Alchemising Education - the little sister pod to Faark the Shoulds - QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri sit down with Dr. Maxine Therese, founder of Childosophy and author of A Push for a Child Philosophy, on what children are actually communicating when they resist, shut down, or fall apart at the gate.

Not behaviour management. The much more useful version: the one that starts from the premise that children come in whole - nothing missing, nothing broken - and that every difficult thing they do is a foundational need speaking. Not defiance. Information.

Because if a child doesn't come in missing a kidney, they don't come in missing a nervous system either. They come in whole, with 7 foundational needs all active from birth, all visible in their behaviour when something isn't being met. Dr. Maxine has spent 25 years building the map that explains it. Once you have it, the meltdown reads differently.

There is also the piece that most people are not quite ready to hear. When we parent, we regress. We meet our children from our own unmet five-year-old self - not the adult we've become. Carl Jung said it plainly: if there's anything you see in your child that you wish to change, first change it in yourself. Not a guilt trip. The most practical instruction in the episode.

Jodi, Kerri and Dr. Maxine get into:
• reading your child's resistance as a message, not a failing
• why the school system was not designed for your child - and why that is history, not opinion
• the 7 foundational needs all children carry from birth, and how they speak through behaviour when unmet
• tracing what's on the surface back to the need underneath
• what it means to parent from your own unmet childhood, and what to do about it
• why nothing that's happened so far is irreparable

For the parent who keeps pushing at the gate and feels something in their body they can't argue away. For the one sitting with Monday morning stomach aches that no strategy touches. For anyone whose child is fine for everyone else and falls apart the moment they get home.

Two parts. Worth the time.

Your kid comes home polite, capable, and lovely for everyone else… then absolutely unloads on you over something that feels wildly disproportionate.

Rude? Yes. Fun? Not particularly. Proof your family is broken? Not so fast.

In Episode 61 of Faark The Shoulds, “Family Ties”, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill unpack how to build strong family bonds with teenagers and children through emotional safety, steady parenting, family rhythms, real responsibility, and the deeply underrated art of not making every meltdown about you.

This is not a shiny-family-values chat. It is the much more useful version: the one where kids can be savage little creatures at home because home is where they are safest. The one where holding space does not mean standing around looking serene while secretly combusting. The one where family dinner is less about the food and more about creating a no-phone place to belong.

Because strong family connection is not built from perfect behaviour.

It is built when a child falls apart and the parent does not shame, fix, distract, interrogate, or make themselves the main character.

Jodi and McGill talk through what that actually looks like in real life:

  • remembering the meltdown is not about you
  • breathing first, so you do not escalate with them
  • listening without turning questions into ammunition
  • letting the emotion move instead of rushing to solve it
  • creating technology-free gathering points that actually stick
  • giving kids real responsibility before you are certain they can handle it
  • keeping your word, because trust is built in boring little moments

There is also the big one: safety. Not soft permissiveness. Not letting everyone run the show. Proper safety. The kind where your child knows they can bring the hard thing, the ugly thing, the shamey thing, the big feeling, and still belong.

For the parent whose teenager barely talks. For the family that feels a bit fragmented. For anyone trying to build a home culture that can hold the full human, not just the well-behaved public version.

Take this one for a walk. It may make you rethink the next front-door meltdown.

What if the conversation that changes a girl’s life isn’t the big dramatic one everyone notices?

What if it’s the quieter stuff.
The language.
The noticing.
The steady reassurance of being seen before things go seriously pear-shaped.

In this episode of Alchemising Education, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri sit down with sisters Bianca and Kritz from The Big Sister Experience to talk about girls, schools, parents, and the relational gaps that so often get missed until everyone’s already in problem-solving mode. And honestly, that’s the thing this conversation does so beautifully. It doesn’t come in hot and sweaty with panic. It comes in with care, perspective, and a useful reminder that meaningful early support gives young people language, life skills, and steadier ground before there’s a crisis to manage.

It’s really a conversation about what young people are navigating now, how quickly disconnection can creep in, and why the adult’s job is not to have the perfect script, but to stay in the room. To stay available. To resist the urge to fix everything the second a kid says, “Ummm”. Sometimes what our kids need is not advice. Sometimes they need to be heard. Sometimes they need a hug. Sometimes they need help. And sometimes they just need the signal that their grown-up is still there.

There’s a potent beauty in the “big sister” energy too. Not expert-on-a-stage. Not teacher handing out unsolicited, generalised advice. Not parent hovering with an opinion. Just women who’ve lived a bit, learned a bit, and are willing to say to younger girls, here’s some stuff worth knowing sooner. That lands because it’s human. And because so much of what kids are carrying now is happening in spaces adults barely understand, or are trying to manage after the fact.

This one is for the parents feeling the drift and not wanting to lose the thread.
For the educators who know wellbeing can’t be bolted on after the damage is done.
And for anyone raising kids in a world where connection is getting harder to hold onto, and more important than ever.

It’s a lovely reminder that not everything meaningful lands instantly, with fanfare.
Some things land quietly.
Some things land later.
And still change everything.

Postpartum Power

What if postpartum isn’t “just hard” because motherhood is intense… but because women have been sold a version of recovery that leaves them isolated, underprepared, and quietly drowning?

In this episode of Faark the Shoulds, QuantiMama Jodi is joined by Chantel from Becoming This Mama for a big, honest conversation about postpartum care, recovery, and what it means to actually be held after birth. Chantel shares the experience that cracked everything open for her: a traumatic first birth, a postpartum period that left her overwhelmed and detached, and the moment she realised that while this kind of suffering might be common, it is not normal.

From there, this chat goes deep. Not in a fluffy “light a candle and have a bath” kind of way. In a proper, practical, system-questioning way. Jodi and Chantel unpack the difference a supported, physiological postpartum can make, why postpartum planning matters just as much as birth prep, and how much inner work women often need to do before they can even let themselves receive care. Because that’s one of the real tensions here: it’s not only about meals in the freezer or help lined up. It’s also about whether a woman believes she’s allowed to rest, be cared for, ask for help, and take up space in that first raw season after birth.

Inside this episode:

  • why “common” postpartum struggle is not the same thing as normal
  • the moment Chantel knew her first postpartum experience was not okay
  • how a redemptive VBAC and intentional preparation changed everything the second time
  • why postpartum is a time for receiving, not performing
  • the conditioning that stops women asking for support, money, rest, and real care
  • how to think about building a postpartum village before the baby arrives
  • why postpartum support shapes not just the mother, but the whole family unit

There’s a lot of truth in this one. About maternal depletion. About the loss of reverence around the postpartum window. About the way women are expected to bounce back, host visitors, act fine, and get on with it while their whole body, brain, and identity are being rearranged. But there’s also real hope here. Chantel doesn’t just talk theory. She speaks from lived experience, from doing it differently, and from helping other women create a more intentional, nourishing start to motherhood.

This episode is for the mother wondering why postpartum felt so brutal.
For the pregnant woman wanting to do it differently.
And for anyone ready to stop treating postpartum like an inconvenient footnote to birth.

Press play. This one matters.

What if the measure of your parenting isn't what your child achieves - but whether they know how to do it without you? The moment your kid takes you off their bank account might just be the graduation you've been working toward all along.

How to Raise Kids Who Know How to Adult - Not Just Pass the Test

In this episode of Alchemising Education, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri get into the reality of parenting young adults. Jodi's first QuantiKid is approaching 18 and apparent "adulthood", and the bank account conversation that kicked off this episode sets the tone for everything that follows - what it looks like when all those deliberate choices around life skills, fiscal responsibility, and 'holding the rope' actually land. This episode is for parents in the thick of it who want to know what all this work is for.

Inside the convo:

• The bank account moment - when your almost-18-year-old calmly says 'I think that's for the best, Mum' and you realise you've actually done it

• 'Holding the rope' - the abseiling analogy that reframes what support actually looks like in practice, and why throwing kids in the deep end creates trauma, not resilience

• Why giving children everything might be the most loving thing that backfires on them

• Fiscal responsibility starting young - cooking dinner, earning money, negotiating with parents, contributing to family costs

• How homeschooling creates the spaciousness for boredom, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking to emerge

• Why this generation already has the bullshit detector installed for the Shoulds - and why parents are the ones who need to catch up

There's a quiet graduation that happens in parenting, and it doesn't belong to the kid. It's yours. The shift from managing their outcomes to holding the rope. From deciding what success looks like to watching your child define it for themselves - even when it doesn't look like what you expected. This episode is a warm, honest, and grounded look at what it actually means to raise humans who do what's right for them, not just what keeps everyone else happy.

A Wildly Nourished Life.

What if the most radical thing you could do was actually live the life you were meant to live; your full potential?

In this episode of Faark The Shoulds, QuantiMama Jodi sits down with Miek Paulus - the powerhouse behind Ket Baker on the Bellarine Peninsula - for a conversation about obligation, energy, the inner critic, and what it actually means to show up fully to your one wild and precious life.

Miek is ten years into building something she deeply believes in, and the way she talks about it - flour up to her elbows, business calls happening simultaneously, a non-negotiable standard for quality - is less a business story and more a life philosophy. This episode is for the humans who feel the fire but keep dimming it. For the parents who sense what they're capable of and keep talking themselves out of it. For anyone who's wondered whether the grass is actually greener on the other side, or just looks that way from a safe distance.

INSIDE THE CONVO

• why "do what you need to do and it will be right" is the only bumper sticker worth having

• the deathbed question that reframes every moment of playing it small • how to handle the inner critic without trying to magic it away

• why the grass actually IS greener when you push through - and not when you flee

• building an empire in the divine feminine and why birth has something to say about that

• the difference between having the drive and having the wish

There's a thread running through this conversation about obligation - not obligation as burden, but obligation as energy source. The thing you owe yourself and the world that, when you lean into it, gives you more than it takes. The energy Miek invests in the details at Ket Baker - 100% sourdough bakery, infamous for its 5-day-in-the-making pastries - the lamination of a croissant, the mood in the kitchen - and why that investment always comes back. It's a reframe worth sitting with for anyone preparing for something big. Including birth.

Fair warning: this one might make you want to book a trip to the Bellarine Peninsula, eat mouth-watering sourdough pastries, and then go do the thing you've been putting off.

As always, (dough) balls and all.

What does homeschooling look like after the panic settles down and real life takes over?

In Alchemising Education Season 4, Episode 56, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri share a five-year homeschool progress report. This episode is for homeschool-curious families, reluctant homeschoolers, and parents questioning whether mainstream education is still the right fit for their child. It explores trust, autonomy, the potency of deschooling the parent, and what happens when learning is no longer forced through someone else’s timeline.

This isn’t a shiny success story tied up with a neat ribbon. It’s a reflection on the (sometimes) free fall, the (inevitable) surrender, and the deprogramming that can happen when parents stop trying to control every part of their child’s learning. The QMs unpack what they’ve learned across five years of homeschooling, what surprised them, and why autonomy has become one of the strongest indicators that things are actually working.

The pressure parents put on themselves to recreate school at home is real; the fear of getting it wrong, and why being a child’s parent matters more than being their perfect (on paper) teacher. Real reassurance for families who are in the messy middle and wondering whether they’re doing enough.

Inside the episode:

  • what five years of homeschooling has taught the QuantiMamas
  • why deschooling the parent matters
  • how autonomy supports confidence and problem-solving
  • why grades are a flimsy measure of a full human life
  • how to trust the process when it still feels uncomfortable

If homeschooling has felt equal parts brave, untidy, liberating, and mildly unhinged, this episode will feel like a good exhale. Press play for a grounded reminder that there’s more than one way to raise capable, connected humans.

The Evolution of Self

What if the whole “I’m still the same person” line is complete rubbish?

In this episode of Faark The Shoulds, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill kick off 2026 and Season 4 with a big, juicy conversation on personal growth, memory, identity, and what actually keeps people stuck. Fresh off their double 50th celebrations and a very on-brand “re-wedding”, the hosts dive into the evolution of self and ask a deceptively simple question: who is anyone really, five years later?

This one is for the Quantifolks who know they’ve changed, but still feel snagged on old pain, old stories, or old versions of themselves. It’s also for the people quietly wondering why some humans seem to move through hard things and grow, while others keep looping the same wound. Jodi and McGill get into perception, memory, contrast, radical responsibility, and the difference between being unchanged and being stuck.

Inside the convo:

  • why nobody can literally be the same person they were five years ago
  • how memories and perception can keep old suffering alive
  • why discomfort, contrast, and challenge can become growth fertiliser
  • the role of the drama triangle, transactional patterns, and self-awareness in moving forward
  • why birth is such a powerful teacher for trust, surrender, and transformation

There’s a beautiful reframe at the heart of this episode: even when someone looks stagnant, they’re not the same person they were before. The cells are new. The life force is still moving. What might actually be happening is that they’re stuck in an environment, a pattern, or a perception that no longer fits. And that’s a very different thing.

It’s a steady reminder that growth doesn’t always look shiny. Sometimes it looks like sitting in the discomfort long enough to stop running from it and instead, integrate.

If the past has been feeling a bit clingy, or the old identity is starting to itch, this one’s worth a listen. As always, balls and all.

You can’t outsource wisdom. Or connection. Or that strange blend of magic and monotony that is raising kids while trying to live in alignment with your values.

In this season final, two-part Faark the Shoulds conversation, QuantiMama Jodi gets comfy with Riona Seehusen—founder of Bellagreen Organic Farm and unintentional mother-hub creator—to explore what it means to live locally, parent cyclically, and hold community without fanfare.

Riona’s Bellarine Peninsula farm isn’t just where food grows—it’s where mothers gather, side by side, babies on hips, stories shared between the carrots and the compost. Raised in a Steiner community and now raising and homeschooling five kids while running a thriving business, Riona makes a quiet but persuasive case for slower rhythms and deeper roots.

Because the real cost we’re reckoning with isn’t just at the checkout—it’s in our nervous systems, our disconnection, our collective amnesia about how to live together.

Across these episodes, Riona and Jodi wander through:

— The natural mentorship that happens when mums work side-by-side
— Teaching kids resilience through rhythm, not rigidity
— Farming as a metaphor for womanhood, motherhood, and community life
— How school refusal, spirited kids, and stress might be signs we’re ready for something different
— Why pronoia—the belief that life is rigged in your favour—might just be the medicine

This is community care without the performative glitter. It’s honest, imperfect, and rooted in dirt-under-the-nails knowing. Pour the tea, walk the dog, or potter in your garden—but don’t miss this one.

Did you know the education system most Aussie kids move through was designed during the first industrial revolution? That’s horse-and-cart territory. Now we’re in the sixth, with AI reshaping everything from work to identity—and somehow, school hasn’t moved much past the factory floor.

Still standardised. Still compliance-driven. Still asking kids to fit into a model that no longer fits the world they’re stepping into.

In this episode, QuantiMamas Jodi and Kerri sit down with Dean Delia—an ex-teacher, youth worker, parent, and now Executive Director at King’s Trust Australia—to ask the question every parent eventually runs into: what are we actually preparing our kids for?

They talk about outdated career advice, disillusioned teens, and why so many educators feel trapped between what they want to teach and what the system demands. Dean doesn’t come with blame—but he does bring a clear-eyed look at where things are breaking, and how the King's Trust Australia's full subsidised Achieve framework, shaped by young people, for young people, to build the skills and confidence they’ll actually need to be workplace ready.

— Reframe “success” beyond grades and ATARs
— Get clear on what career readiness really looks like
— Understand why kids disconnect—and how to spot it early
— Explore co-design as a tool, not a buzzword
— Hear what real-world prep sounds like (hint: it’s not an essay nor an exam)

It’s confronting, yes—but there’s relief in hearing someone name it so plainly and be working so earnestly to facilitate tangible and relevant solutions. If you’ve ever wondered whether school is still fit for purpose, this one will meet you right there.

Keen to have your child prepared, for the real world, beyond school, with actual, useful skills: augment their education with the fantastic Achieve Online programme. More info and access at kingstrust.org.au and achieveonline.org.au

There’s a kind of silence that follows death—the one where you realise the story won’t pick up again. Not in the way it used to. You’re left holding the memories, the what-ifs, and sometimes, the things you didn’t get to say.

In this 50th episode, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill dive deep into what it means to do death well. Not with platitudes or tidy bows—but with presence, reverence, and a willingness to sit in the discomfort. They share their own stories of losing parents, of miscarriages, of holding space when words fall short.

It’s not a grief guide. It’s a conversation. One that gently asks—what if we stopped treating death as a failure or an interruption, and started seeing it as part of the whole?

— Reframe death as part of a complete life
— Understand the “three deaths” and why they matter
— Explore how kids can handle these truths better than we think
— Learn how to hold space without fixing or filling the silence
— Reflect on the legacy you’re building—now, not later

Gentle nudge: If death has felt like a topic too hard to touch, maybe this is your way in. No pressure. Just two people, cups of tea, and a conversation that might help you feel a little less alone.

It's a beautiful day; the sun is shining; there's a cute kid in a pram, eyes glued to an iPad, whilst Mum scrolls Insta on the footpath. Normal? Maybe. Healthy? Faark no.

In this Alchemising Education chat, QuantiMamas Jodi and Kerri pull no punches on the quiet epidemic of digital babysitting. From toddlers tethered to tablets to teen tracked for "their safety", they unpack how tech has crept into every corner of parenting—and what it’s stealing from our kids in the process.

Incredibly, 91% of Aussie kids own a smartphone by age 12 [1]. The QuantiKids are firmly in the minority on this occasion.

A phone in your kid's hand? Let's be honest, that’s not connection—that’s early on-boarding to addiction. And it’s shaping a generation who, it seems, can’t sit with boredom, regulate emotions, or walk to the corner shop without GPS.

When did it become the norm to sit kids at the restaurant table with a device?
What happens when we trade short-term silence for unrelenting engagement?
Could a bush walk or board game reset the whole family’s rhythm?
Is your child scrolling by choice—or by design?
And the kicker: who’s really in charge—you or the device?

You’re not crazy for questioning the “everyone’s doing it” narrative. If something in your gut says, this can’t be right, then faark the norms and tune in. This episode is your permission slip to unplug the kids—and yourself.

Dear Teacher,

We see you. The spark you started with is still in there — buried maybe, but not broken. You wanted to change lives. Instead, you’re wading through reports, watching bright eyes dim. It’s enough to make anyone question everything.

In this Alchemising Education convo, QuantiMama Jodi and Kerri sit down with Jonathan Zalunardo — ex-teacher, founder of Apogee Australia, and proud builder of the new. He spent years trying to make the old model work. It didn’t. So he left, not in defeat, but in devotion — to kids, to parents, and to what school could actually be.

Over 50% of Aussie teachers say they’ll quit within five years[1].

And who could blame them? When your gut says this isn’t it, but the system says stick it out, the misalignment corrodes more than just your weekdays. Jonathan listened to that inner nudge — and now works alongside families to reimagine learning from the ground up.

This episode isn’t about burning it all down. It’s about choosing something better — together.

If you're a parent or teacher quietly thinking there must be another way, this one’s for you. Grab a cuppa. The conversation’s already started.

What if the most radical thing you could do today was to literally stop and pause? Side step the noise, the bills, life’s endless trail of shoulds—and listen for what’s calling you in that pause?.

In this Faark The Shoulds conversation, QuantiMama Jodi gets cosy with the luminescent Kristen Morrison—author, artist, stylist, ex-fashion designer, and long-time disruptor of the “good girl” narrative. They trace Kristen’s winding path from homesteaded tablecloth couture to inadvertent Down syndrome advocacy, from lockdown burnt-out business to community art space, with Kristen modelling one thing through it all: permission to live responsively, not reactively.

Her story isn’t a pivot—it’s a series of reckonings. Of choosing real over polished. Enough over everything.

Because when “becoming” is your default mode, what does success even look like?

— Make peace with the pace of your child's growth (and your own)
— Reclaim art as a way of relating, not performing
— Stay in the room when it gets uncomfortable—then breathe
— Ask what wants to be created, not what should

Kristen reminds us that presence is a practice. And that sovereignty isn’t a solo act—it’s a shared frequency. One that gets stronger in circle.

Find Kristen at Soul Centred Art Space on Instagram or dive into her writing at kristenmorrison.co, where she weaves together insights on creativity, sustainability, food, wellbeing, and the messy, beautiful business of being human.

Picture Friday night: Mum’s juggling Uber Eats menus, Dad’s doom-scrolling share prices, and the kids are TikTok-surfing Try Not To Laugh shorts while the telly drones on. Looks like well-earned down-time, right? Nope— that’s the addiction trifecta hard-wiring itself into your family’s nervous system.

In this Alchemising Education episode, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri rip the Band-Aid off modern-day addictions—busyness, shiny-new consumerism and the dopamine drip of screens—and ask what those habits are really teaching our kids about sovereignty, rest and genuine connection.

Fresh research shows 28 % of Australian teens rack up five or more hours of non-school screen time every single day[1]. WTaF?!!!

Stack that against a timetable already chock-full with homework and extracurriculars—no wonder families feel fried, disconnected and permanently “behind”.

How do you kick these too-easy habits before they hijack every spare moment? Try this:

— Block white space in the family calendar before saying yes to extras
— Trade takeaway night for a cook-together whole-food gathering
— Store phones in a shared tech-box after 7 pm
— Celebrate op-shop scores to calm the upgrade itch
— Swap the post-dinner tech for a quick backyard moon-gaze or some old skool board games

Feeling seen? Grab a cuppa, ditch the overwhelm, and press play to find another way, today.

A casual take away cuppa feels harmless… until you're skimming the bottom of your account to pay for bananas. Meanwhile, the kids are actually begging for your time—not, as expected, another babycino. Something’s off.

In this raw convo, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill crack open their own story of financial resilience—complete with pub-cleaning at 5am, career pivoting, and a total rewrite of what “providing” even means. If you've ever sat at the kitchen table wondering how the faark you're going to make it all work—this one’s for you.

What your kids crave isn’t cash. It’s you. Present, undistracted, aware. This isn’t about giving up the dream house—it’s about waking up in the one you’ve already built.

— What if “enough” was a feeling, not a figure?
— Could presence be the most valuable thing you offer?
— Redefine abundance beyond paycheques and prams
— What energy are you inviting in with each choice?
— Step off the hustle hamster wheel—what else becomes possible?

This isn’t budgeting tips—it’s a total frequency shift. If your body’s screaming for spaciousness, and your bank account’s telling another story? The hosts have lived that tension. Grab a cuppa, QuantiFolks, and find your footing again.

Picture this, if you will: you rock up to the bank for your own hard-earned cash and upon supplying your withdrawal slip, they quiz you like a naughty schoolkid.

Umm, Nope!

Time for a shinier Plan B.

In this Alchemising Education chat, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri swap the credit card swipes for sovereign coins with Carmelle Pavan—journalist-turned-bullion boss and the only woman steering a precious-metals dealership in Victoria. She heads As Good As Gold Australia (Vic) and co-founded As Good As Gold Women, the first bullion outfit focused for women’s financial freedom.

This conversation is full of gold nuggets.

Did you know that gold’s jumped 34 percent in the past year — no “bonus interest” account comes close . And while 70 percent of Aussies already tap-and-go their way through life , Carmelle maintains our kids deserve to hold real value, not just watch numbers flicker on a screen.

Solid strategies to getting your kids financially literate:
— how a single silver coin can kick-start the family nest-egg;
— why banks push back when you withdraw (hint: unsecured creditor status);
— turning money lessons into pirate-treasure play;
— simple, non-scary first steps into bullion (no wads of cash—or testosterone—required).

If you’ve felt the gut-squeeze that our cashless, digital currency future isn’t the whole story, this convo hands you the stats and the soul-food. Grab a cuppa, tune in, and let’s raise a next-gen that knows wealth is something you can actually handle.

Sick? Or… upgrading?

In a modern world, addicted to immediate relief or reprieve, it can feel a foreign concept to prioritise and honour our body's need for time and space when it comes to common, transient illnesses like colds and flu.

QuantiMama Jodi spent three full days horizontal, tanked at 20% energy, feeling sick as sh!t and in full surrender. QuantiPapa McGill muscled through—favouring activity and fasting. Turns out, the upgrade comes whether you surrender or not. Underpinning the lot, though, is the inherrent belief system we have in our ability to self-heal.

This one's for the crunchy, the curious, and the mums still battling to “soldier on” through the mucous and soul fatigue.

  • Why we’ve forgotten how to rest (and what the body does when we finally do)
  • How kids rise when we drop the clipboard
  • Whether “catching a virus” is even a thing
  • What happens when you actually listen to your body

Whether your high vibe tonic is bone broth, terrain theory, fasting, frequency, or just more Netflix; QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill cover the scope with the added bonuses of witnessing unexpected delight of parenting through the upgrade, and why your cells aren’t older than your undies.

Here’s the kicker: Every seven years, your body regenerates entirely. So who’s still carrying the story of that dodgy shoulder or burnout from 2018? What if discomfort is just your body’s way of whispering: Oi, it’s time.

You’re not broken, you’re recalibrating. Just like Mother Nature, your body's wisdom is beautifully curated.

What if the only thing standing between your child and a thriving education… is everything you were taught to believe about school?

In this gutsy, permission-giving episode, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri get honest about what it really took to become Leap Takers. They lay down the five biggest fears parents face when considering a shift—fears they know intimately because they’ve lived them:
“I’m not qualified.”
“What if my kid resists?”
“What if I stuff it all up?”

This is not a step-by-step how-to. It’s a balls-and-all invitation to reimagine parenting without outsourcing your power. To question the narrative that says stress is normal, resistance is defiance, and the curriculum is king.

Along the way, they unpack:

  • How to know if your child’s school resistance is actually a signal—not a flaw
  • What ‘uncoercible’ parenting looks like when no one’s watching
  • Why socialisation is wildly misunderstood (and often overdone)
  • How de-schooling isn’t just for kids—it’s a total parental mindset shift
  • And why starting before you're ready might just be the most honest move you make

There’s no blueprint here—just a deep belief in the capacity of families to course-correct. And a loving reminder: You’re not alone. This path might be non-linear, but it’s faarking worth it.

If your inner knowing’s been nudging you toward something else, hit play. And if you’re curious about the course Jodi and Kerri built while walking this road, you’ll find it here: quantimama.com/take-the-leap

There are two worlds in play. One that asks for presence, evolution, and inner growth—and one that demands you get up, get out the door, and get the job done.

In this episode, we sit inside the tension of holding both. QuantiPapa McGill speaks from the space many men quietly inhabit—walking the path of deeper awareness while still embedded in the density of everyday life. It’s not a complaint, and it’s not a call-out. It’s a thoughtful reflection on what it means to keep showing up—with your eyes open.

With QuantiMama Jodi, they explore significance, silent resentments, recharging, and the unspoken shift that happens in relationships when one partner starts to find spaciousness… and the other stays tethered to the task list.

  • What gets overlooked or misconstrued when we don’t recognise the opposing forces at play?
  • Can we honour the weight and the work of waking up?
  • What does evolution look like when you don’t get to walk away?
  • What gets missed when we stop seeing each other clearly?

A conversation about seeing clearly, loving generously, and living with one foot in each camp.

What if the real skill our kids need isn’t academic — but the ability to discern, to disrupt, to know themselves?

In this Alchemising Education conversation with Adam Gibson (Parents With Questions), QuantiMama Jodi & QuantiMama Kerri explore what it means to raise children who are grounded in their own sovereignty — and why it starts with us, unravelling inherited and learned scripts and rebuilding trust in our own inner compass.

Together, they muse on:

  • The invisible spells that keep parents outsourcing their power
  • Why the courage to create — not just consume — is essential for future-ready humans
  • What happens when we model authenticity instead of perfection
  • The quiet revolution of foundations: health, finance, community, consciousness

This one’s for the families willing to ask better questions, even if the answers aren’t neat or convenient.

What have your children witnessed you settle for?
What kind of world are you preparing them to walk into — or remake entirely?

"Uncoercible" isn’t a parenting style. It’s a way of being.

What if your tipping point wasn’t some grand, dramatic moment but just a small, uncomfortable nudge that forced you to question everything you thought you knew about schooling, life, and what’s truly important?

In this episode of Alchemising Education, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri dive into those tipping point moments—the ones where everything you’ve been avoiding suddenly forces its way to the surface. It’s not always the big, obvious shifts; sometimes, it’s the quiet discomfort that makes you ask, Is this really the way it’s supposed to be?

Ever wondered what your tipping point might look like?

From a school uniform rule that seemed like the smallest thing (but felt like a massive overstep) to the realisation that they had the power to make different choices for their kids, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri reflect on the moments that pushed them to question the very system they were living in. It's about seeing how those seemingly minor things can snowball into something that demands your attention.

What happens when you realise that you don’t have to go along with what everyone else is doing?

How do you step into discomfort when everything inside you wants to avoid it? And what if that’s exactly where growth happens?

It’s not about waiting for things to be perfect. It’s about embracing the discomfort and trusting that the magic happens when you step into the unknown.

Tune in for a conversation that’s part reflection, part disruption, and full of what ifs as Jodi and Kerri explore how the tipping point can be the first step towards creating a life and education that actually feels good.

It’s time to ask:

What’s your tipping point?

And what would it mean for you and your family?

What if living consciously isn’t about fixing yourself—but finally listening to the you that never needed fixing?

In this two-part episode, QuantiMama’s Faark The Shoulds welcomes the wildly wonderful Jillian Rumble-Young from Rainbow OMG. Jillian is a biodynamic farmer, homeschooling mama, musician, plant whisperer, and balm maker extraordinaire—and if she had a business card, it would probably be compostable and smell like calendula.

Together, Jillian and QuantiMama Jodi dive into the fertile terrain of conscious living—not the kind you hashtag, but the kind that’s felt in your bones. Think: talking to your plants, bleeding into the soil, raising kids who can read lunar cycles better than textbooks, and dismantling the factory settings of modern life one seedling, salve, and soul truth at a time.

What if the land knows you by name?
What if parenting is less “expert advice” and more “deep listening, occasional snacks, and a good birth chart”?
What if pruning your trees is also about pruning your life?

This convo is equal parts reverent and disruptive, with new perspectives, deep remembering, and a few epic mic drops. It’s for anyone who suspects their houseplants are judging them—and might be right. BUT, probs not since plants are simply love with leaves.

It's Their Life; Are We Raising Kids to Trust Themselves?

Alright, Quantifolks—balls and all time. When did we start believing that our kids needed to be managed/guided/fixed instead of just trusted?

Somewhere along the way, we stopped seeing our children as whole beings and started treating them like projects—something to manage, shape, or perfect. We, parents, have the best intentions, of course. We want them to be happy, successful, thriving. But here’s the kicker: what if the very act of “guiding” them is steering them away from who they truly are?

A no-holds-barred look at the ways we—often unknowingly—condition our kids out of their truth. We explore the invisible weight of diagnosis culture, the unspoken pressure to fit in, and the ways we accidentally curate compliant adults instead of raising self-trusting, free-thinking humans. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

What if our kids don’t need to be managed, but witnessed?
What if, instead of control, we embraced collaboration, trust, and fostered deep connection?
What if the most powerful thing we can do as parents is get out of the way?

We’re unpacking all of it—why trust is the foundation of a thriving child, how to repair it when it’s been shaken, and the simple ways we can create a home where kids feel seen, heard, and empowered. And yes, there’s opportunity for some Bon Jovi karaoke in there too.

Tune in and reimagine what’s possible. Your child’s future isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about helping them own their life, just as you do yours.

What if the roles we play in our relationships — the hero, the villain, the victim — were keeping us stuck in cycles of disempowerment?

In this episode of Faark The Shoulds, QuantiPapa McGill and QuantiMama Jodi get right into the heart of the drama triangle and how these roles shape our connections and self-perception.

Why do we feel the need to fix, blame, or rescue?

And what happens when we choose not to play those parts?

We explore the power of radical self-responsibility — that fierce and freeing moment when you stop waiting for someone else to save you and step into your own agency.

How can we hold space for others without rushing in to fix their discomfort?

What does it take to trust that people are whole enough to find their own way?

Our kids are often some of our greatest teachers in this. Through their frustrations and their triumphs, they shown us the magic of patience, presence, and letting people cycle through their own experiences. And TBH? It’s not always easy. Sometimes the hardest thing is standing back and offering support without stepping in — but that’s where growth happens.

This episode is a reflection on the stories we tell ourselves, the roles we assign to others, and the deep work of staying curious and compassionate. So, which role do you slip into most often? And what would it take to step out of the triangle entirely? Join us for this rich and real conversation — we promise, you’ll leave with plenty to ponder.

Alright, Quantifolks—it's time to look past the oxymoronic request to prove to a computer that you're not a computer (thanks G00gle Capture!!) and dive head first into the wonderous/frighteningly-fast/potentially-quite-concerning world of AI.

In this episode, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri dive into the fast-moving, sometimes overwhelming, but ultimately mind-blowing world of AI.

How do we keep our frequency high while navigating this digital revolution?

Can AI be a partner in creativity, or are we just outsourcing our magic?

And what does it mean for our kids’ education when tech like this is at their fingertips?

We’re not here for fear—this is about empowerment.

Can we use AI with intention, stay in the driver’s seat, and teach our kids to do the same?

What opportunities could open up when we approach AI with curiosity and discernment?

How do we make sure they stay anchored in their own truth while playing in this evolving space?

Join us as we unpack these questions, and offer a big ol' reframe on technology and education. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, a total skeptic, or somewhere in between, this convo will leave you inspired, empowered, and possibly ready to co-create with intention.

Oh, the postpartum period—the time when everything feels impossibly full (your heart, your hands, and let’s be frank, your boobs). In this episode, we’re cracking open what it really takes to nurture yourself after birth—not the Insta-perfect, "bounce-back" myth, but the slow, sacred, and unapologetic process of receiving.

Why do so many of us resist rest, help, and even our own innate wisdom? What would it look like to give ourselves the same grace we’d offer to someone we love? And how do we shift from simply surviving postpartum to thriving in connection and recovery?

Joined by the delightful Jennifer Cruise from Nurturing Connections with Jen, we unpack:

  • Why you can’t pour from an empty cup (or give from your cup at all—hello, saucer life)
  • How to build your village and set boundaries with love
  • What it means to honour your identity as a mum while still holding onto the parts of yourself that make you you

How can you embrace rest without feeling like you’re losing yourself in the process?
What’s stopping you from asking for or accepting the help you deserve?
Could prioritising your own well-being now be the greatest gift you give your child in the long term?

This is your permission slip to fark the checklists, fark the societal noise, and embrace real recovery, presence, and ease. Because when you care for yourself, you’re not just filling your cup—you’re reshaping how we parent, live, and connect as a whole.

Whether you’re a mum, a soon-to-be parent, or someone holding space for loved ones navigating this wild season of life, this episode is for you. So grab a cuppa (or better yet, let someone make you one!) and join us as we explore the radical, revolutionary act of receiving.

Oh, the joys of parenting when you're running on three hours of sleep and yesterday’s coffee. In this episode, we’re peeling back the layers of what it really means to lead by example—not the Instagram-worthy, perfectly curated version, but the raw, messy, beautifully human one.

How do we reconcile our own, often slightly unkept, growth with the desire to guide our children toward resilience, authenticity, and joy?

We dive into the imperfect art of "showing up". Parenting isn’t about flawless execution (thank fark)—it’s about presence. It’s about letting your kids witness your mistakes and the ways you learn from them.

When we embrace our own humanness, what are we teaching them about theirs?

Parenting isn’t just about raising kids; it’s a mirror reflecting back the parts of ourselves we often overlook. If you’ve ever felt like the wheels are falling off the parenting wagon or questioned how to inspire your kids when you feel far from inspirational, this one’s for you. It’s a love letter to imperfect parents everywhere—reminding you that being real, vulnerable, and willing to grow is the ultimate example.

So grab a cuppa (or whatever keeps you grounded) and join us as we explore how being the example isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being real, agile, and deeply committed to the experience.

Labels – they’re everywhere.

But have you ever stopped to wonder what they’re really doing?

Are they offering clarity, or boxing us in?

This episode, QuantiMama Jodi is joined by the brilliant Katy, Neural Integration Systems practitioner and Homeopathist to unpack the complex terrain of long-term labels.

How do they shape our perceptions of our children?

How do they influence the stories we tell ourselves about who they are and who they might become?

And, perhaps most importantly, how do we navigate the grief and growth that come with them?

In this episode, we ask the big questions: Are labels helpful tools or hidden traps? Can we reframe them to serve us rather than limit us? And how do we balance acceptance with hope for the future? With raw honesty and a touch of humour, this conversation explores moments of heartbreak, unexpected joys, and the nuanced process of redefining what labels mean for children, parents, and the broader narrative of identity.

If you’ve ever found yourself grappling with a diagnosis, a label, or even just the stories that swirl around parenting, this one’s for you. Let’s get curious together and see what’s waiting beyond the labels.

What does it mean to truly rock the holiday season? Maybe it’s embracing the mess, or maybe it’s about finally finding a little stillness amidst the chaos. Whatever it looks like for you, we’re here to explore what happens when we let go of the need to “do it all” and instead connect with what really matters.

In this episode, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri meander through the subtle (and not-so-subtle) pressures of the season, from the cultural addiction to busyness to the quiet rebellion of saying “no” to the noise. Why do we equate doing with being? And what might shift if we paused to notice the moments in between?

What invisible work goes unnoticed in your life?

What kind of connection feels most nourishing right now?

And how might this season look if we chose meaning over momentum?

There are no neat answers here—just space to explore, reflect, and maybe even laugh at the glorious imperfection of it all. So grab a cuppa, take a breath, and join us for this conversation about the season, the self, and everything in between.

You know that moment when you realise parenting isn’t a “season” but a lifetime membership with no exit clause and really, really small fine print you unhelpfully only lightly skimmed? Yep, same.

This podcast ep, witnesses QuantiPapa McGill and QuantiMama Jodi diving headfirst into Compound Living—where type-A personalities, crunchy parenting, and four kids under one roof get messy together. A place where the tension of wanting to “do all the things” bumps up against also just wanting to lie down for 5 minutes or more improbably, toilet, in peace. A place where we wrestle with the guilt, the grind, and the pervasive societal expectations that tell success is demonstrated by productivity and big screen TVs.

  • How do we value the invisible work of parenting when it feels so universally thankless and repetitive?
  • What shifts in us and our kids when we stop trying to control our kids’ emotions and instead hold space for them?
  • And how do we untangle ourselves from the need for permission to rest, reset, or simply say, “This is hard.”

This episode touches on the quiet wisdom of surrender—the kind that doesn’t mean giving up but instead choosing to be present with what truly matters; embracing our kids’ natural curiosity (even when it means pulling apart sewing machines) and why the best moments of parenting often happen when we let go of gifted societal perceptions of perfection.

For anyone feeling stretched thin, stuck in the grind, or questioning if they’re “doing enough,” Jodi & McGill offer ‘permission’ (not that you need it, but that’s a whooollllleee other conversation) to rethink it all. This parenting gig—this unwitnessed, messy, relentless, thoroughly common ‘work’ of raising conscious, thoughtful, harmonious humans—shapes the world more than we realise. And to be honest, the world desperately needs them.

Tune in, get curious, lighten your mind, and maybe shift gifted perspectives because in the chaos of Living in the Compound, there’s plenty of room for life-changing memories, conscious connection, and at least a few ‘fark it’ moments along the way.

It's all very well to grab your beloved and your bestie, set up a couple of mics and start a podcast about farking the shoulds and critiquing the education system from the parents/outsiders perspective BUT how much of your critiquing is influenced and impacted by a confirmation bias that grows ever stronger with each conversation?

Is the current school "product" really that dire?

Are kids needs actually systematically unmet, in favour of efficiencies and misaligned stakeholders?

How challenged are todays teachers in their desire to cater for their charges whilst balancing the duties of the position?

Is it true that we parents play a role and influence the whole shootin' match?

Is the current mainstream education really that shoddy and wanting?

Meet lovely luscious Lauren, both a current practising teacher and parent, who brings us an insiders perspective of the present school environment.

QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiMama Kerri get real and raw with Luscious Lauren about what's happening on the ground in a variety of school environments, the role (and impact) of parents in this space, the agility and adaptability of kids to adjust to new or changing places, the contrast of the traditional school space versus the one-on-one student/educators of private tutoring, and the holistic approach to our kids learning, with consideration to rhythm, diet, emfs, labels, expectation and more.

Join us to examine, reimagine and alchemise education because fark knows, the kids are ripe and ready for change.

What does it take to go the relationship distance, in this modern world of distractions and transient pursuits?

How does one keep the honeymoon vibe alive when the era of spontaneous, romantic interludes has passed and replaced by an familiar intimacy marked by farting in, rather than out, of the room and toileting with the door open?

In this episode of Fark the Shoulds, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill dive into the past six months of their “DIDO” relationship experiment, that’s been full of pleasant surprises, occasional frustrations, and a healthy dose of humour. Join them as they reflect on their secret to staying connected.

Of course, it isn’t all "easy-peasy". Jodi and McGill keep it real, examining on what didn’t work, like the rough parts of being physically apart and the hard truths of not being able to support each other in real time. Adversity brings innovation and even these tough moments promoted growth, showing them new ways to communicate their needs, to laugh at the bumps, and to stretch as a couple.

How do you want to show up in your relationship?

What choices are you making each day in your relationships? Are you showing up with intention, or just going through the motions? Are you anchored in growth or protection?

When was the last time you and your beloved did something that genuinely brought you closer? What can you do to create more high-vibe moments together?

Are you “holding space” for each other, allowing vulnerability without jumping in to “fix” things?

What do you really want from your relationship, and how can you express that openly?

Join the QuantiFolk community as these two celebrate love, growth, and the real, raw journey of partnership and parenthood with humour, heart, and as always, farking the (relationship) shoulds.

Quick!! Get the kids out of the house, turn the heater up, select your favourite juicy music, and let's get naked...with QuantiMama Kerri.

Together with QuantiMama Jodi, they go straight to the sensitive pink bits; pulling apart Curious Kerri’s experience navigating the complexities of her child's mental health challenges within the educational system.

Challenges such as:

· the pressures on kids to be ‘normal’, to fit in & be accepted when there is a resounding pressure towards ‘success’ & achievement

· the importance of tuning into, observing and being the greatest advocate for your kid’s wellbeing despite the limitations of the system

· the emerging phenomena of parents being kept in the dark by well-meaning institutional representatives, under some restrictive belief that this is best advocacy practice for the child

· a lack of family engagement from the school and the ensuing disconnect between parent & child,

· parents' voices, values & roles as a primary carers being overlooked and understated.

There will always be extreme examples of child mistreatment and malfeasance, where the kid’s privacy must be protected by the institution BUT as QuantiMama Kerri explains, sharing a mothers first-hand account of how challenging and confronting it is to be contrary to the system, she reminds us of the importance of ‘pausing’, being guided by love (not fear), and the imperative to gather relevant information and advocate for ‘option C’.

Quantifolks, you are not alone in your parenting journey. This episode is a heartfelt reminder of the power of curiosity, advocacy, and love, in navigating the challenges of raising resilient children, and in this case, resilient parents.

A-faarking-men!!

Nathan Francis, author, coach, documentary filmmaker, and podcast host of The Breaking Free Podcast hears the starters gun and gets straight to heart of the matter; calling out the traps and trials that have us filling our lives with addictive tendencies and superficiality rather than pursuits of purpose and authenticity.

This is Farking the Shoulds at its most compelling; a call to action to both young and old to break free of the programming and quantum leap to your next highest self.

Nathan is passionately bare, calling out the unhealthy behaviours for our young men (thanks in large part to media portrayals of masculinity); the importance of emotional expression for men and the need for safe spaces where men can share their feelings without judgment; the significance of mentorship and the role of adults in guiding the younger generation; the impact of grounding children in nature and allowing kids to trust their instincts, rather than conforming to societal pressures. Finally, Nathan compels us to trust our inner guidance and to take action towards goals, emphasising that change is possible when we detach from limiting beliefs.

Nathan walks the talk, oozing passion, knowing and relatability. His insights on the power of reprogramming our minds through conscious choices and the content we consume resonate deeply.

Listen and absorb.

Then take action to your next quantum leap.

If we want to have an impact on our kids’ education and learning, whether that’s to tweak and support or to revolutionise their environment, we must also examine our own experiences (read: prejudices), when we were young.

What was our experience of learning?
How do we feel about it now, on reflection?
Were there memorable moments of either thrive or survive?
Were there experiences that have now meaningfully contributed to certain belief systems, habits & ideas, maybe enhancing or hindering modern day you?
Did your learning keep you from or help you reach your goals?
and
How can this reminiscing help shepherd and shape us, as parents, to know what to next “try” for our kids’ schooling in this great experiment that is child-rearing?

QuantiMama Jodi & Curious Quinn take a waltz down memory lane, sweeping the cobwebs to the side, to reflect back on their own school experience; identifying markers and experiences that have had enduring impact on their own life, personal development & success and how then, that permeates through their kid-wrangling today.

Naked convos ensue with Jodi & Quinn sharing vulnerable, squishy parts of their childhood schooling. The parts which have stayed with them well into their adult hood; the parts that still impact on the way they see, do & teach life and the aspects that they wish to change to be better examples to their kids plus it saves them trotting out the old “Do as I say!! Not as I do!!” chestnut.

What are the long-term impacts of;
personal interaction versus the high use of technology in classrooms;
the importance of playtime;
the grading system/assessments;
interaction & learning through personal connection with teachers & students; effort versus grades;
the weight of openly comparing students against each other at impressionable developmental ages;
having a system whereby there is certainty in the structure of following rules versus finding opportunities to developing courage & authenticity through creativity & curiosity.

Straighten your uniform, sit up straight and listen closely as Jodi and Quinn reminisce and muse on days gone by; noting that certain mindsets & programs created during their schooling (i.e. am I good enough, am I smart enough) can create the inner critic which has stayed with them well into their adulthood.

Fret not; this will not

Running Your Own Race

We’re in a world where advertising campaigns tout standing out, standing above, extra-ordinary individualism and “going your own way” but everywhere around us in society reflects collectivism, community and the relative safety of homogeny.

So, when you’re looking for cues from society, which is it?

Are we meant to be part of the herd or out front, leading the charge?

Is there a third option where we can don the HP invisibility cloak and not be witnessed (read: judged) by others at all? And if we could be invisible, is that just so we can live a perceived quiet, undisturbed life, free of shadow influences?

As intuitive wisdom comes through the natural aging process, parents have the invitation to fark the shoulds and choose instead, to run their own race. At the start, this may feel scary, overwhelming, and even, delinquent.

Running your own race can show up in a myriad of examples:

questioning and holding to account our education institutions;

advocating and decision making that are child centred;

celebrating the unconventional rather than the popular.

In this episode of Alchemising Education, QuantiMama Jodi and Curious Quinn unpack what it is to run your own race, sparking curiosity and questioning the status quo with equal parts passion and laughs.

Get ready to experience listening-gasm after listening-gasm and as always, fark the shoulds.

It’s no secret that in today’s modern world, there are a million and one absolute opinions to effectively parent your child and with natural spiritual and emotional evolution, thank goodness too, because the ultimate winners, when we improve our parenting, are our children.

This conversation is all about (a beginners’ guide to) being a Quantum Dad, with QuantiPapa McGIll in the proverbial hotseat (just where Jodi loves him).

What is a Quantum Dad?

How do men, in this modern world, full of demands to be this, that and everything else, also level up their parenting?

How do we as parents now, avoid and eliminate enshrining the less-so high vibe parenting strategies gifted to us by our parents?

What does “being a Quantum Dad” look like in the everyday setting?

It’s another lively, honest conversation, with QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill that considers the small and big moments in our parenting journey, always intent on raising happy, secure and connected kids that have real resilience, emotional maturity, a sense of whole self and a practical dose of Farking The Shoulds.

Welcome back to Season 2 of the Faark The Shoulds podcast, kicking off in fashionably late style with this Alchemising Education episode.

If the parents “get to decide” then it’s only fitting that the kids “get to choose”!

Join QuantiMama Jodi and the ever-curious Curious Quinn for another Fark the Shoulds conversation on Alchemising Education.

What does child-led or child driven education look like?

Does it have structure?

A tangible and intelligible program?

Or is it just a free-for-all shermozzle that fosters unruly, wayward, undisciplined children; houses in disarray and home educating parents in the foetal position, tearing their hair out, struggling to track and trace their child’s progress?

Sorry not sorry to burst the bubble of hyperbolic generalisation. Child driven education is so much richer and rewarding than one could quantify, even with a dedicated half hour conversation.

Jodi and Quinn chat about the foundations for success in their kids’ education architecture:

Support

Trust

Structure, rhythm and natural boundaries

Natural learning times as devised by the learner (a learning in itself, one might say)

Empowerment

Trials and life tests

Reassessment and agility

Shepherding (rather than Sheepherding) our charges and

Being the custodians, not architects, of their education.

They also explore the idea of resilience and the misconception that it only comes from surviving trauma, challenging the idea that kids need to face adversity, in the absence of safety, security and a loving environment to build resilience.

In a world of abundant options, even in the home education sphere, hear from two Mums walking the talk on their decision to fark the shoulds and place their kids firmly in the driver’s seat of their learning.
Turns out that kids aren’t the only students when it comes to education.

What’s with our preoccupation of being extraordinary?

Where does the addiction to extraordinary come from?

Does it start in-utero?

Is it naturally expressed in the child or a product of parenting hopes, dreams, programming and pressure?

Do our kids prosper or persevere in the pressure pot to be extraordinary?

Are there any more “P” words we could possibly integrate here (read on, dear one, as we peruse…)?

QuantiMama Jodi and Curious Quinn take a dive into what an addiction to the extraordinary looks like for today’s children and query, is it worth striving for?

Curious Quinn, a mum to two driven, motivated kids that have wanted to be extraordinary and QuantiMama Jodi, a mum who happily settles for mediocrity, potentially as a disservice to her kids.

Together, they explore:

· the responsibility of parents; their role/influence, social expectation drivers and personal desires;

· how children can form self-limiting beliefs, increased intensity and restrictions in the pursuit of extraordinary;

· how does the addiction to extraordinary impact one’s sense of self?

· is it possible for our kids, striving for the highest outcomes, to maintain a balance of rest, play, nourishment and joy in learning?

· what are the warning signs of kids heading towards overwhelm and what can we, as parents, functionally affect?

Ordinary or extraordinary, this conversation will spark in you, a deep knowing of what is in the best and most aligned interests of your kid.

Get listening, get questioning, get introspective and as always, fark the Shoulds.

Alchemising Education - The Parents Decide.

In this episode, QuantiMama Jodi and Curious Quinn at Alchemise the faark out of Education once again, discussing the beliefs and fears many parents face when they begin to recognise the real value in advocating for their kids.

That white coat fever is a bugger, with parents often assuming that scholars, academics, experts & researchers know more than they do. That may be so in the general sense however not when we’re talking about our actual offspring. Jodi & Quinn chat about the ways in which we, as parents, often underestimate our capabilities and overwrite our inner wisdom.

So are parents giving away their rights and the opportunity to be the lead role in their children’s lives?

Is school refusal or hesitancy a sign that your kid lacks discipline and structure or an increasing alarm, bell, ushering in an opportunity to listen to the kid and ask them what they truly want?

Do we as parents feel confident enough to ask that question?

Are we ready for the answer, whatever that might be?

Are we looking at the whole picture?

Are there tell-tale signs that we’ve been dismissing or ignoring?

What is our intuition/heart/inner voice/spidey senses whispering to us?

It becomes clear through this conversation that in honouring our kids’ needs, we must choose, first and foremost, Love. Farking the parenting “shoulds” of fear, social stigmas, doing the ‘right thing’, choosing the convenient option, treading the known pathway and not rocking the boat, we must, instead, listen to our own intuition, knowing that we, as parents, are the decision makers and ultimately, the parents get to decide what is right for their child.

Wisdom: now and then.

Although getting older is synonymous with getting wiser, what does that really mean?

Do you make better choices in your daily life?

Do you experience a shorter refractory period when things/people/events/life gives you the shits?

Is your overall sense of life purpose and well-being clearer and assured?

Do you, on a daily basis, have more moments of peace rather than farkery?

Does this filter through to your daily life, kids and parenting?

Taking stock of life's lessons and the ensuing A-ha moments and epiphanies seems a feature of middle age, of which QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill are clear members.

In this conversation, McGill reflects on his reflections, giving voice to the overlooked and assumed, helped, as always, with a healthy framework of 'farking the shoulds'.

We are wiser than we credit; often it's just a matter of employing it in both the now moment and longer view.

And wisdom will always Faark The Shoulds.

Healing the Hurt-Learning Traumas

Being a kid is all about having fun, right? And as parents we want positive, uplifting, nourishing experiences for our kids to grow and love their learning.

But what happens when our kids have experiences that leave trapped emotions in their bodies and create a low-vibe belief that is unhelpful or worse still, increasingly corrosive to their sense of self.

In this Alchemising Education episode, QuantiMama Jodi and Curious Quinn ponder this and how “learning traumas” are experienced and processed by our kids in the school system; a system seemingly built for efficiency in addition to supposed learning outcomes needed to be “successful” adults.

Highlights include:

  • What does a learning trauma look like?

  • If schools are a business, then who are the clients and who determines what success and the outcomes look like?

  • Is the learning environment about creating efficiency in the system or creating experiences that are student-focused?

  • What’s important to becoming a good human?

  • What creates the pressure in learning environment and how to address the dis-ease?

  • Recognizing which Education Shoulds need to be massaged and which just need to be farked.

Alchemising Education… no right or wrong or BS one size fits all; just an opportunity for curiosity and adaptation, facilitating education’s restitution that can be swift, comprehensive, relevant and lasting!

"Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend."
Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee's powerful words, like the proverbial "whisper" have morphed over the years to be a slightly bastardised but more succinct phrase of "Be Like Water, My Friend" which is voiced, often, in the Quanti-household.

Water, life giving, life saving, immersive, corrective and restorative, features a great deal in QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill's lives and is often credited as being one of their life's natural anxiolytics.

How does water feature in your world?
Do you feel the nurturing and rebalancing effects?
What are the ways you integrate connection with nature?

From the philosophical parallels of "being like water" to the practicalities of connecting with water, join Jodi and McGill for this chat (that initially identified as Episode 12 but, like water, flowed into Episode 13) on ways their connection with water has impacted their daily living, life-changing moments and the 'ripple' effect of these big and small experiences.

In the Faark The Shoulds school, Alchemising Education is one of the core subjects; a non-negotiable, if you will.
Deep gratitude for the perspective afforded by the last three years of farkery, which revealed plain and simple, for many parents, the actual truth of our kids real education experience; Wizard Oz's curtain reveal.
A homogenised, streamlined, one-size-fits-most approach to shaping kids into like-minded thinkers, with the most genuine of intentions but resulting in a product that ultimately has left the "clients" quietly dissatisfied with the execution.
Join QuantiMama Jodi and Curious Quinn, two middle class, tow-the-line kinda gals who had their respective rude awakening to the education system being not quite what it's cracked up to be and pulled the ultimate middle class renegade move by reexamining and respectively reimagining their kids' education models.
They're not here to preach; just spark curiosity and questioning in the disquiet that gently accompanies parents these days: can we do better? what's needed? am i equipped to change this? ... all the while knowing, our kids are worth it!!

If ever there was a world of "shoulds" just waiting to be realised, it is giving birth in a western system.
You 'should' birth at this facility and you 'should' have this practitioner and, whilst pregnant, you 'should' eat this food and 'should' do these exercises and 'should' do this birthing course (although, we CAN highly recommend QuantiMama's High Vibe Birth course for your ultimate birth preparation 😉) and the list of shoulds goes on and on...
After four births, QuantiMama Jodi and QuantiPapa McGill say "Well, Fark That!!"

Birth, likely to be one of your life's most defining moments, is too often casually reduced to something that has to be done or worse, survived, when, in reality, it can be the most wondrous, magical, otherworldly, extraordinary and most definitely, defining experiences of our entire lives.

Jodi and McGill reflect on their respective 'now and then' attitudes to birth; the wisdom of experience with their four births, particularly McGill's as the birthing father and ultimately their passion that is infused throughout their High Vibe Birth course; a birth education programme that stretches beyond simple birth education and is anchored in strengthening primal bonds between the self, couple and babe in utero.

Let this conversation spark wonder, reassurance, reminiscence or healing, no matter where you find yourself in your life's journey right now because as a collective community, we must counterbalance the robotised industrial regard of birth to reconnect it with nature's principles, witnessing these everyday miracles with breath-taking awe.
