On the Dani Flo Podcast I talk philosophy of life. My name is Daniel Flores aka your boy Dani Flo. I'm a Catholic husband and father. I share what brings: meaning, and purpose, and value to my life. The things that make my life significant, and that I think if I share them: they could potentially bring significance to your life too. I've uploaded episodes on faith, fatherhood, fitness, philosophy, and Fulton Sheen and any other topic I find fun to discuss and get philosophical about. I want to say I recorded this episode about 3.5 weeks ago. I wrote down some things that give us pleasure when we do them. Among them are common things like: drugs, sex, alcohol, etc.
These things, in my opinion, can become addicting and, at minimum, can distract us from more important things and more important questions that we haven't thought about long and hard enough.
Maybe none of these distract you or maybe they do. Maybe there's things I didn't mention that distract you. But, as always, the point of the episode is to provoke thought and the hope is that in some small way you think about something that improves or helps your life.
Let me know what you think of the episode by leaving a comment in the comment section of the YouTube video or any of the other various ways to contact me found in my linktree.

Have you ever had a long day? Week? Month? Year?
Do you remember something that was a shorter length of time than you recall?
Why does something feel like it's never going to end?
I don't have a technical answer to that question, but in this episode I do share examples from my own life of things that felt permanent but actually weren't.
What are some things in your life that you thought were permanent but weren't?
Please remember to:
Thanks in advance.

Are you off to a slow start?
Are you making slow progress?
Have you "taken off?"
My thoughts are that this Podcast, and my YouTube Channel even, is off to a slow start, but it is making slow progress.
More of my thoughts are that I'm off to a slow start in a low of areas of my life, and it used to bother me but it doesn't anymore.
Being off to a slow start means: you started.
Congratulations! Most people don't.
Being off to a slow start means: you're moving slowly, but you're MOVING.
Congratulations! You might actually get where you want to get.
Not starting at all guarantees you'll never "take off"/succeed.
And neither does starting and then making slow progress.
But with starting and slow progress there's at least the possibility that you'll "take off"/succeed.
What do you think?
Please remember to:
Thanks in advance.

Why don't you want to try? Are you scared of trying? Are you scared of making a mistake? Are you scared of failing?
I reflect on something I learned from a coworker some time back:
The older we get, the harder it is to learn because we're scared of making a mistake and failing.
Making mistakes and failing is part of learning anything new.
So what do we do?
I think we try anyways, especially if it's something we need to learn;
but even if it's something we just want to learn.
Fear, or being scared, is a mental state, but it's also an emotion/feeling.
I think we need to move forward, learn, and do the thing even if we feel fear.
What do you think?
Please remember to:
Thanks in advance.

Have you every thought about your blessings?
Even the obvious ones?
It's probably harder to notice and think about the obvious ones because they're so obvious.
I decided to write down a page of my obvious blessings and share what I came up with-with you.
My hope is you'll think about some obvious blessings and that-that will re-energize, rejuvenate, excite you, and fill you with enthusiasm.
Thank you for watching and listening and I sincerely hope you enjoy it and it helps in some way. Please remember to:

When you want something or when you want to do something: it happens in steps. And you need to work on the steps frequently. And you need to do it at a frequency that you can sustain for a period of time until you get what you want or do the thing you want to do. So that begs the question: what can I sustain? What can you sustain? I think we have this ideal frequency: "I want to do 'x' one hour a day." But what happens if we can only do it 10 mins a day? Or 15 mins a day? More often than not: we do zero because we can't do it the ideal hour that we want to do. But it's better to sustain doing something for 10-15 minutes a day or even 5 minutes a day than never doing it because you can't devote as much time as we'd like.
That and some other thoughts on this 56th episode of the Dani Flo Podcast.
I sincerely hope you enjoy it!

On the "positive" side (for lack of better terminology), sometimes it feels like we're winning at life (or in parts of our life). On the "negative" side, sometimes it feels like we're losing at life (or in parts of our life). The latter feels more often than the former. Why is that? I can think of two reasons that go hand-in-hand on why it feels this way to us, and I think if we stopped doing these two things then it wouldn't feel like we're losing at life as often as it feels like it does. I hope you enjoy episode 55 of the Dani Flo Podcast!

Haters are real. But I think the majority of the time: my biggest hater is me and your biggest hater is you. Other people have less impact on our life and choices than we have on our life and choices. Why don't you wake up early? Because you didn't want to; that's not a haters fault. Why don't you work harder? Because you don't want to; that's not a haters fault. Etc. Essentially, you and I are getting in our own way; way more than a hater is.

Happy Early Valentine's Day! Have you ever heard stereotypes about philosophy? That it's just deep thinking? I know that I have. At the same time, no one wants to be seen as shallow nor be reduced to just their looks. We all want people, especially the people we care about, to know that there's something deeper. Maybe even something philosophical?

Some things were important to us and then they stopped, some were and still are, and some weren't and then they became and are important, and some weren't and then became important and then went back to being unimportant (I think that covers it).
Well, I always wanted to be a father since I was a kid but then (for various reasons) I decided I didn't want kids (or marriage) and then once I became Catholic I went back to my original desire of wanting to be a father (and a good one).
Well, after I decided (again) to pursue it, I remember listening to a podcast about fatherhood intensifying for someone and I knew that it would for me one day, too.
Well, that day has come, my fatherhood has intensified (and probably will again).

Have you ever said "man, that seems like a different lifetime?" Or have you ever heard someone say something similar to that? I quit a company that I worked for since I was 18 about 9 months ago. And that has started a new "lifetime" for me. By "lifetime" I mean season, time period, chapter of my life. And recently it got me thinking about how I break up all of the different lifetimes/seasons in my life. So, in this episode I share my thoughts about how I do that and the purpose is to provoke you to get to thinking about your own life. Are you in a new lifetime/season of your life? Have you been in a particular lifetime/season for some time now? How much longer do you think you'll be there? How do you even break up all the lifetimes/seasons in your life that are over?

I recorded this episode on my thirtieth birthday. I started my podcast because I wanted and still want to help people. I'm not sure why, but I do. I recently listened to my first episode and I asserted that I intended to teach and I'm not sure that I've done a very good job at that or if that is still my intention. However, my intention with this episode is to continue something I started that I thought I would be good at and was not as good as I thought I would be but want to get better at. Also, it's a shift from intending to teach to intend to provoke deep thought in you. As I type this description it's a little past the middle of Lent 2022. I recently listened to a talk by Fulton Sheen on the Fulton Sheen App that I purchased some years ago and the title of his talk is "Philosophy of Life" so I thought it appropriate to listen to it since that is what my podcast is supposed to be about. I listened to it to improve my spirituality since it is lent (as I'm typing this). In this episode, I'm not summarizing what Fulton Sheen said in his talk but instead what it made me think about and my hope is that what I say will make you think about your own philosophy of life and whether you believe that there is an objective purpose for your life or not. And if there isn't an objective purpose for your life are you creating a subjective purpose or what are you doing about a purposeless life? Think about it. And please don't forget to subscribe, share the podcast, and leave a review to help someone out there find this podcast. God love you, Dani.

Janelle Renee, Founder/Owner of Elle Salon,
joins me on the Dani Flo Podcast Video to discuss:
Her faith as a cradle Catholic, a mother, and a business owner,
How she handled the lockdowns/shutdowns as a result of covid-19,
And her business and prayer plans for 2021.
This is what she originally wrote on the Instagram post that caught my attention:
“Dreams of becoming a heroic saint for the sake of bringing souls to the Heart of Jesus are often what keep us all going every day. But heroism and martyrdom don’t always happen as bluntly as being burned at the stake! The greatest challenge is to live in this currently half insane world, meet souls here, and show them God’s love. The test is every single day. When Christ asks Peter 3 times ‘Do you love me?’ The requirement for Peter to prove his love is through action not words. - My life is very ordinary. I am a mother of one, I am divorced, I own a business- a hair salon with 40 young women as my employees and coworkers- and I, like you, have to balance living a faith life, close to the Lord, while existing in a society that is not often filled with sights of Heaven. But every normal, imperfect moment on this earth is a chance and a challenge to know, love, and serve God through others. The world craves to know God. It is up to us to show them who He is.”
You’re going to enjoy this episode if you’re interested in learning how Janelle handles her Catholic Faith, motherhood, and being a business owner.
You’re especially going to enjoy this episode if you like the Catholic Faith and learning about other Catholics, you’re curious about Catholic motherhood, and you’re curious how a Catholic business owner handled the first covid-19 lockdown/shutdown.

I met Edwin on Instagram because we follow similar accounts. After reviewing his content, I judged that we were like-minded so I messaged him and asked him if he would be interested in doing topical Instagram lives on the Catholic faith and he agreed. We ended up doing about 5-ish Instagram lives (one of them is on my feed if you’d like to check it out). I invited him on your boy’s pod, the Dani Flo Podcast, to tell us the story of his conversion to the faith because: who doesn’t love a conversion story? If you do, then this is the episode for you. Please subscribe if you’re not subscribed, and share the episode so that the community can grow. The Dani Flo Podcast is a ”two-man” operation: my lovely wife and I. So, your shares are how we get the word out and how the community grows. Thanks and enjoy!
From Edwin’s YouTube Channel:
“Earthly Lynx is a page that delves into aspects of the Catholic faith.
Some consist of going out into the world and capturing moments that are unique to the faith. We capture all of this through Vlogs, videos on the faith and your ever occasional music video. This channel will present the beauty of the Catholic faith from a different perspective.
NYC is arguably the biggest city in the world and the faith is here too.
I hope you all enjoy it.
Stay Blessed, God Bless”

Is the Republican party fighting for conservative values? Is the Republican party too confident conservatives will vote for them? Has the Republican party been corrupted by career politicians? Is it time for new conservatives to replace career politicians? Or is it time for a new conservative party?
My friend Sergio from JMJCat3 Catholic Head Gear joins me on the Dani Flo Podcast to discuss his reversion to the Catholic Faith and why he thinks it’s time for a new conservative party or time for Republican politicians to actually fight for conservative values.
Sergio answers and discusses:
Were you raised Catholic?
What influenced you to start your Catholic clothing company?
Why did you stop being liberal democrat?
Does it take time to fully switch one’s personal-political ideology?
Why are you unhappy with the GOP (Grand Old Party)/Republican Party?
Should the Republicans support Trump? Or should Trump support the Republicans?
What would a new conservative party do differently than the GOP?
Are you concerned that Nancy Pelosi can single handedly hold up the stimulus bill?
If a new Conservative party were available, what would you like to see from it?
Do you think it’s possible for a new party to emerge at the state level?
Are you unhappy with the lack of Republicans in office fighting to keep small businesses open during the pandemic?
Does a party erode when it’s in power too long?
Do career politicians erode when they’re in office too long?
Why did you try to protect church property over the summer?
Are people like yourself unhappy with the GOP because it doesn’t seem like they’re fighting to conserve your values?
If the second amendment goes, will freedom of religion go too?
If the second amendment is abolished, do you think states will acknowledge the right to bear arms at the state level?
Do strict gun laws reduce gun violence?
Why do you think young Hispanics are attracted to AOC’s (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) ideas?
What would you say to a career politician about your concerns?
What would you say to a politician that wants to start a new conservative party?

What are family values? Are they dormant? What has changed about family values over the years? What has changed about fatherhood? Is there a crisis of family values and fatherhood? Can philosophy help? What is philosophy? And what is philosophy good for? Dr. Matthew C. Flamm, professor and Department Chair of philosophy at Rockford University, joins me on the Dani Flo Podcast Video to discuss what has changed about family values and fatherhood in his lifetime and what philosophy is and what its good for.
Dr. Flamm answers and discusses:
What’s it like being a father of a daughter for sixteen years?
What is the difference for a father, between having a boy or a girl?
[Dr. Flamm asks me]
What has changed about being a father in the last sixteen years?
Did more men want to be fathers sixteen years ago versus today?
Have family values gone to the wayside? Or have family values been re-defined?
What is the new definition?
Is there a difference between the Religious right at a macro level versus the personal level?
Is there a chance that family values are devolving?
What is philosophy? What has philosophy said about parenthood?
Why can’t science tell us how to be a good parent?
Why can’t the soft sciences tell us how to be a good parent (i.e. psychology)?
Is it possible to not know what philosophy is and still use it? Are philosophical questions not as important as what science and psychology can tell us?
How do we know psychology or science can’t tell us what love is?
Is it closed minded to think science can’t ever tell us what love is?
Can philosophy be defined as: the wise way to do the things we care about?
What advice do you have for young men that agree that family values are dormant?
Why is philosophy worthwhile?
Why is philosophy worth studying at the academic level?

What is an agnostic? What makes someone become an agnostic? What about atheism? What’s the difference between an agnostic and an atheist? And what about a theist? Does it only take faith to be a theist? Or does it take faith to be an atheist as well? My friend Ryan Hayes joins me on the Dani Flo Podcast to discuss how he became an agnostic and why he’s been living the majority of his life as an agnostic. Ryan answers and discusses:
Is “Does God exist?” a philosophical question? Or a scientific question?
How did we discover the method of science?
How did you realize you are an agnostic?
What is agnosticism?
What kind of agnostic are you?
Why did you go from a Christian to an Agnostic?
What is the best argument for agnosticism?

Why is fatherhood important? Is it only important to those that have faith in Christ? What about the children? Are they better with off with their father around? And what does it mean to be conservative? Is that the same thing as republican? Anthony Cabassa, better known on Instagram as Conservative Latino, joins me on the Dani Flo Podcast discuss the importance of fatherhood and a what it means to live a conservative lifestyle. Anthony answers and discusses:
Why he got politically involved locally and on social media.
What is conservatism, libertarianism, and liberalism/progressivism?
Would fatherhood be important without faith in Christ?
Are democrats the ones who really care about people?
Do democrats just need more money to fulfill their promises?
What’s your advice for conservatives that just want to be left alone?
What's your advice for men that want to be outspoken about the importance of fatherhood?
What's your message to Hispanics that think Hispanic-conservatives are wrong?

If you've ever wondered if Hispanics love the United Sates or you know a lot of them that do and are wondering why then this episode of the Dani Flo Podcast is for you. I talk about the second Hispanic-conservative value: starting and raising a family. Conservatives conserve things. It's in the name. The second thing we want to conserve as Hispanics is starting and raising a family as we see fit with limited government intervention except in very rare cases. I tie this value with the first and provide my reasons why I think this value is worth conserving. Please listen, leave a review, and share it with someone you know. Thanks my guys and my girls. I've been thinking about what the first, most important, Hispanic-conservative value is and so I made a podcast episode about it. We're in an election year and people on the gram bam and other social medias are more political because they think "the other side" would ruin everything if they won. And some people don't understand why some Hispanics are conservative so I talk about our history as a religious people as well as the Cristero war and I finish with a quote by Fulton Sheen. There, now you don't even have to listen to the podcast if you don't want to. But if you do: leave a review and share please. Enjoy!

I’ve been thinking a lot about why I was born in America instead of Mexico. Both of my parents were born in Mexico and they had family down there and so I could’ve been born in one of the states they were born in but, that’s not what happened. Ultimately I think there is one reason most Mexican parents want their children and grandchildren to be Mexican-American and that is: better opportunity. That comes in two forms and I think these two things are what most immigrants want for their offspring; not just Mexican immigrants. I think we should keep the reason why immigrants come here while at the same time addressing issues like racism in America. Listen for my thoughts and enjoy! If you like the video please share with at least one person you know.

The fourth of July is coming up and a lot of things are thoughtfully being called racist because of the civil unrest and tension in the United States of America. However, a lot of things are mindlessly being called racist as well and I’m sure someone somewhere has called the 4th of July racist already, but even if I’m too late I wanted to share why I don’t think it’s racist. I thought about it for a few days and the next opportunity I had I recorded my thoughts on this video. I’m Mexican because my parents were Mexican and they wanted me to be born in the United States and I respect their decision. As far as I can tell the 4th of July happened because we disagreed with Britain on how we should be governed not because of race.

I try to begin to explain what he's taught me about God and myself,
Why he's important to me, and why I consider myself a Sheenist.
If you listen close enough you can hear my son, Chunky Butts, yell "la la la" in the background at one point.
Sorry for smacking my lips so much, I'm going to work on that.
I hope to make way better episodes on Sheen in the future but for now, this was on my mind. Enjoy.

Ignorance is not a bad thing. We all have an intellect that we use to ascend to truth and we’re trying to move each other’s intellects to truth via arguing, but in order to do that everyone involved has to reject subjectivism because then everyone’s thoughts and preferences are all on the same level and each has “his or her own truth.”**
