The first half of this letter of Peter has been all about teaching about our salvation. The Old Testament prophets prophesied of the days that we live in today. The days when a doorway would be opened through the suffering of the Messiah to have our sins forgiven, and know Him for ourselves. Thus, the Old Testament prophets would look forward to the day when this Messiah would come to fulfill this promise, and we in like manner look backward at what Christ has done in fulfilling this promise of salvation through His work on the cross. What a great salvation we have!

Text - 1 Peter 1:6-9
From NLBC Wolfforth 4/25/21
We often look for different ways to encourage ourselves & each other in the midst of various trials. As Peter prepares to exhort and encourage his readers to persevere in difficulty, he bases his future exhortation and encouragement in what God has already done. Namely, that Christ is risen from the grave, and as such we have a guarantee that the Lord Himself will cause us to persevere no matter what comes.

We will not and cannot truly see our desperate need for the Gospel until we recognize how sinful we are, and what consequences come with our sinfulness. In this sermon we'll look at our radical sinfulness on our way to a deeper understanding of the necessity and sufficiency of the Gospel.
Love and truth are inextricably connected. We have seen this to be true in our journey through the letters of John. Now, in his final short letter, we find an example of someone showing love by supporting truth.
Text - 3 John
From NLBC Wolfforth 3/7/21
We know that as Christians we are to walk in love with one another. It is a fundamental trademark of every Christian. We can often find, though, that we misapply the command to love, or we misinterpret what love is. What we will learn in 2 John is the need to walk in truth, and how this truth will lead to more loving relationships in the Christian community.
From NLBC Wolfforth 2/28/21
Text - 2 John
We have reached the end of our time in 1 John. Throughout this letter, we have been challenged, convicted, and comforted. By the grace of God, we are walking away from this letter with our assurance of salvation tested, leading to that blessed assurance that John is wanting his readers to have. John wraps up his letter with three final statements of certainty, and a final exhortation.
From NLBC Wolfforth 2/21/21

We often speak of going to church, being the church, and being a part of the church, but what exactly is the church? Or who is the church, for that matter? Session 2 of our Sunday School series, The Church According to Scripture, centers around these questions. This live stream was in Pastor Matt's home office as the church was closed due to snow making travel hazardous.

It is a most blessed truth in the Christian faith that Christ Jesus saves sinners, and only sinners. It was His primary focus while He was on the earth, and when He went to the cross. Christ's work on the cross saves us from the punishment of our sin, frees us from the power of sin, and places us at odds against sin.
From NLBC Wolfforth 11/29/2020

We often speak of the commands of Scripture, the words of caution, and the need to battle sin, and it's certainly good that we do so. However, if we are not careful we can make our faith into nothing more than religious duty when in reality there are real benefits of being a child of God. In this sermon we will examine five of them.

C.S. Lewis said, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” In other words, if a light is on, if the sun is out, you know it not because someone told you so, but because you can see everything else by that light. In the same way, when the light of Christ has shone in our hearts, its effects can clearly be seen. We'll explore this in today's sermon.

"Blessed Assurance" is a familiar old hymn that many faithful saints have sung to the Lord over the years. Truly, an assurance of salvation is a priceless treasure, but how can we have this assurance? In our new sermon series in 1 John, Tested Assurance, we will aim to answer that question by examining our lives through the lens of Scripture. We want to have that blessed assurance, but first we must have our assurance tested.
In this sermon we will see that the first step in having an assurance of salvation is having an assurance of a Savior.
