There are four critical decisions companies must get right to drive and scale growth. We will delve deeper into the area of Execution today, as we do, many of you will recognize the content and principles from one of my favorite books:
- Verne Harnish’s best-selling book, Scaling Up. What are the Four Decisions you must get right as a business leader to succeed? They are People, Strategy, Execution and Cash!
- The People Decision is about a harmonious culture of accountability.
- The Strategy Decision is about strong topline revenue growth.
- The Execution Decision is about converting revenue efficiently into
profit.
- The Cash Decision is about oxygen: having sufficient, perhaps abundant, cash to have options and make wise decisions.

Welcome to episode 177!

In my 20 + years as an entrepreneur I have turned to books & mentors for inspiration and advice as I rode the entrepreneur roller-coaster. Each book brought new lessons and helped me develop my ideas more precisely. The best books are the ones I revisit years after I have first read them they have multiple folded pages, book marks tabs and full of highlighted sections. Best of all, they deliver a whole new a-ha moment depending on what is going on in my business each time I reopen it.
In this episode, I’ve put together a list of fantastic book recommendations specifically around people as business leaders need great people both inside the company and out such as investors, suppliers, customers, partners and advisors as well as great support network at home. All of these people are critical to the business. So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, lost or unsure of your entrepreneurial future – don’t throw in the proverbial white towel, keep your head up - or in a book rather, visit this list and draw some inspiration from those who have been there and
share their experiences.

I was recently in Adelaide also known as the city of Churches delivering a full day workshop on Strategy to a group of entrepreneurs. I asked them to take a piece of paper and write their business strategy in 1 sentence. The kicker is they only had

Think about it how would you rate yourself on a scale of 1 – 10. 1 being you live in fear and never step out of your comfort zone. 10 being you are always doing something that scares you. It could be learning new things, maybe jumping on stage and giving a speech or leaving your comfy corporate six figure job to start a business and follow your passion.

If you are going to spend the time and money bring all your top line managers or key executives to an annual 1 or 2 full day strategic planning retreat then you must make sure you will be getting the amazing results. I see it happen all the time: A group of managers get together at a resort for two days to hammer out a “strategic plan.” Done and dusted, they all head home.

But have they produced a plan with a strategy? Do they have the correct plan and how are they going to execute is critical, otherwise it was just a waste of time and money.

Are you sick of walking out of an hour-long meeting thinking,
“What was the point?” Cameron Herold even wrote a book
called “Meetings SUCK” I agree meeting do suck if they are
not run properly, they have no agenda, they don’t start on
time or finish on time and no one is held accountable for
action items.

Enter our SMALL BUSINESS GROWTH CHALLENGE and get a chance to win a one-year business growth plan, valued at $2500.

Meetings must be focused with specific agenda
to eliminate daily back and forth emails and impromto
questions. It’s all about how we move faster, pulse faster to
be leaders and remain ahead of our competition. At the heart
of a team’s performance is a rhythm of well-run daily,
weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual meeting. These
meeting bring focus and alignment, provide an opportunity
to solve problems more quickly, and ultimately save time.
They also address the #1 challenge people face when they
work together…. That is Communications.

Welcome to episode 141!

Ask yourself are YOU a good leader or do you tend to operate
in Crisis Management.? What I mean by Crisis Management is
when everyone in your organization is coming to you for
information and you end up being the bottleneck that tells
them what to do.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to win a 1-year business growth plan, valued at $2500 US. Deadline to enter is April 6th.

Last week we talked about how to hire A players and retain
awesome staff. Back on episode 81 I talked about in order to
be successful, you’ve got to have the discipline to focus on
your core business and the most important and meaningful
tasks that will have the biggest impact for your business.
That was a more of an insular approach focused on you!
Today we are going to talk about how to be an effective
leader so you can grow your team and scale your business.
We will specifically cover Liz Wiseman concept of Multipliers
vs Diminshers, touch on five ways you as leaders can shift
your behavior to avoid being a “diminisher” and instead,
get the best out of your teams.

"Throughout my tenure in EO, I have been fortunate enough to see innumerable examples of servant leadership, incredible personal growth, and the evolution of peers’ growing businesses. EO is second to none when it comes to creating amazing content and platforms to learn and grow. And while most entrepreneurs join EO with the singular goal of building more successful companies, many EO members remain well past achieving these goals because of their ability to help others to achieve the same, to positively impact the lives of others, to be significant—to “Make a Mark.” I challenge all EO members—and prospective members—to look for opportunities within this awesome organisation to create the business success you seek, but more importantly to create significance in your life, whether that’s travelling with your Forum to foster entrepreneurship at a grassroots level, or spending more time being a better father, mother, sibling or friend. We are our own greatest resource, and the community that’s formed within EO will change your life, if you take the opportunity to join and engage." - Brian Brault

Welcome to Episode 108 today’s episode is all about Human Intelligence and how important it is for business owners to Thrive in today's ever changing world of technology. Perhaps no word is more important for today’s leaders as agility. The ever-increasing pace of change, demands that leaders be ready, willing, and able to quickly adapt and change course. As the saying goes, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” But how can we develop the ability to rapidly process information and change course in environments that too frequently constrain us? We face the certainty of uncertainty. Creativity and innovation are vital for businesses exposed to globalisation, increased competition, consumer diversity and rapidly changing technology. Tomorrow’s competitive success will be based on the implementation of creative ideas and the ability to keep up with an ever-accelerating world. Maxum Corporation - Inspiring Greatness Show Notes:

In this interview, I share my successes and failures with lessons learned. As an Entrepreneur for over 20 years having founded and managed six companies on both private and public levels , trust me, there have been many failures. This interview is my story specifically relating to taking a private company public and successfully selling my last enterprise for six times (EBITDA) to one of the largest independent equipment leasing companies in the world.

Welcome to Golden Nugget Friday episode 073!   Did your business reach the revenue projections you set last year? If not have you made changes to your business model so you don’t repeat the same disappointment this year. At my age (YES-I'm still 25 after all these years), my motto is work smarter not harder. Last year I spent time investigating how I could incorporate a subscription model into my professional service business. I joined a mastermind group with other like-minded entrepreneurs, listened to multiple audio books and met with experts such as Dr. Tom McKaskill know as Dr. exit and is brilliant on subscription setting up models. I did this because I was tired of having to work more hours in order to make more money. Does this resonate with any of you? Are you looking of ways to earn extra income without working extra hours? Well you won’t want to miss today’s episode where I will provide you with a world renowned successful business model that may help provide some ideas for your business.
