The essential need for both a mother and a father to provide genetic material for survival parallels what social science tells us about the importance of mothers and fathers in children’s development. Fathers and mothers bring similar, even indistinguishable, capacities that enable healthy child development. But like the complementarity of the left and right halves of the brain, they also bring distinct capacities that provide complementary, irreplaceable contributions to children’s healthy development.

Life is complicated, more today than ever before! In this podcast interview with Dr. Ty Mansfield, we will define and discuss the intricacies of attraction, sexual orientation, and mixed orientation marriages. Get ready to have your questions answered!

Sexual orientation refers to who you are sexually attracted to and who you want to be in a relationship with. Sexuality exists on a spectrum, both in who we are attracted to and how we want to be physical with our partners. Whether you are questioning your sexuality, considering coming out about your sexuality, or trying to support a friend who is questioning their sexuality, understanding sexuality and our own sexual identity is an important part of getting to know ourselves and forming healthy relationships with others.
