Nick joins us for the 3rd time to talk about content creation, plumbing, and the decline of action sports .Nick Parlet aka @plumbingsk8r . He is a lifelong skateboarder, operates his own plumbing business, is a content creator, and, most importantly, a father of two. Nick showed up and helped build Breaking Free Skatepark back in 2016 and has been a lifelong friend ever since. His efforts are something I will never forget, and our friendship is noteworthy. Nick and his son, Blake, can be seen in many old videos and vlogs on the BFS YouTube channel. It was awesome to catch up with him about his business and social media content creation. Nick is a hard worker, and that comes from his years of skateboarding. We have a lot to learn from his dedication. This is Nick's second appearance on BFS LIVE.

Phil is an immigrant, a former pro BMX rider (for Mongoose and Kink), a metal fabricator, and a hyper-dedicated person. In this episode, we talk about building a new life, what BMX taught us both good and bad, and trying to maintain a healthy life both physically and mentally. Phil is one of those "they broke the mold with this one" kinda guy.

Since March of 2017, Breaking Free Skatepark has hosted Ladies Skate Night. I am aware of no other woman's skate event with the longevity of Ladies Skate Night at BFS. In this episode, we have a casual conversation with 3 ladies who have frequented ladies' night for years. Pagie and Lydia literally learned to skate at Ladies Night and have grown to be cornerstones in the local skate scene. Zaarah, a physicist, has regularly spent time in Rochester for work and recently moved here permanently. She has been a regular at Ladies Night for many years.
There seems to have been an issue with the audio on Dave's mic in the episode. For this, I apologize

Over the past 10 years, it seems like the political climate has progressively gotten hotter. We must pull back and be able to engage in civil discourse. A house divided cannot stand. In this more casual "BFS FAM" episode, we talk candidly about political polarization. The live chat was popping. This was fun!

Nick Parlet aka @plumbingsk8r .

A lifelong student of photography and dozens of historic photography processes, Nick blends artistic creativity with technical mastery. His passion for what he does is unparalleled. His bike riding career dates back to the early days of mtb dirt jumpers, where landed a couple of cover photos, hosted events, and ran an online blog. After attending RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology), Nick eventually found himself back in Rochester working at the George Eastman Museum.
In this episode, we talk about photography, both artistic and technical, bikes, growing up riding in the big cities, how valuable those memories are to us now, and much more.

Michael Reuter is a New Yorker who aspires to open an indoor skatepark on Long Island. Michael reached out to me with some questions, and we figured why not make a show out of it. Our initial stream was cut short due to technical issues. This stream was facilitated through Instagram Live.
John Sabia is the co-owner of Level Up Skatepark in Brick NJ, a founder of the Level Up Organization (501c3), and a very passionate person. In this episode we discuss opening and owning indoor skatepark and the motivations to do so.
Our YouTube live stream failed due to a technical issue. This one-hour abbreviated show was streamed live on Instagram. Sorry for the poor quality. We will have John back on again soon!

A lifelong BMX rider, Mike Potoczny is one of 6 owners of the soon to open Woods Room Bike Park in Pittsburgh PA. Following the closure of The Wheelmill Bike park Mike and others worked diligently to save the ramps and ensure a bike park will remain in the Steel City. In this episode we talk about owner burnout, logistical issues in opening a indoor facility, and the essential need to keep kids on bikes. Mike and I are on the same page. I cannot wait to talk with him again and check out Woods Room Bike Park when it opens.

Greg Lang is name that has come up multiple times on our show. Greg was part of the early days of Krudco Skate shop . Greg skated to the Krudco as well as securing himself some other sponsors. In this episode we talk about the early skate scene in Rochester, chasing sponsorships, filming fatigue, and how he got into super endruace fixed gear bicycling riding. My favorite part of this episode was Greg's purest street ethic about skating. We reflect on how riding spot to spot IS skateboarding. It is not about the clips, it is about the exploration, the freedom, and the spots.
Greg's social media is private to I will not link to them.

Forever a "BMX kid", Jay Roe has been the Team Manager for Kink Bike Company for nearly 20 years and Cinema BMX for a while as well. He has organized and executed countless BMX projects and trips such as the recent Project X. He has facilitated the sponsorship of hundreds of riders including some of the biggest names in the sports. Jay has had an immeasurable impact on the trajectory of BMX. This was an illuminating conversation. It was awesome to peel back the curtain and hear how things work on the backside of BMX. I hope to have Jay back on the show. This dude is a legend in BMX.

Being Young and Motivated | BFS LIVE EP 83 w Nick Guggino
Nick is experienced beyond his years. For a man of 23 years, he has already done so much. From timber framing in Alaska to trail building in Massachusetts. I hope many younger listeners can derive motivation from this man and go out there to do something. We also dive into the loss of parents and the struggles of addiction in the family. This was a great conversation.

Shawn Danek is a cornerstone of the Rochester MTB scene and an exemplar of the modern rad dad. You can find him with his 2 kids at the trails, at a dig day, at the skatepark, or on a bike trip—wherever they are, they are doing the thing! Shawn is an advocate of having kids and having fun. Aaron is the Owner of Krudco Skate Shop which has amazingly been around for over 30 years making it one of the longest running Shatke Shops in the world. Beginning back in 1994 Aaron and Krudco have had an immeasurable impact on the skate scene in Rochester and Skateboarding more broadly. Their cultural impact transcends the skate scene. It is coming to see non-skaters around Rochester rocking Krudco branded apparel. This was one of my favorite conversations we have had on BFS LIVE. I hope and expect to have Aaron on again many times.

Technical Difficulties - Ep 74 with Greg and Garrett
Our first time with 3 people turned out to be technically beyond our cost-effective set up. We had to scrap the first half hour and restart with Greg and Garett sharing a mic. I tried my best to fix the audio level. Greg and Garrett will return next month to discuss their skate group ReAnimate. As for this episode, we just talked about whatever.

Nick Parlet aka @plumbingsk8r . He is a life long skateboarder, operates his own plumbing business, is a content creator, and most importantly a father of two. Nick showed up and helped to building Breaking Free Skatepark back in 2016 and has been a lifelong friend ever since. His efforts is something I will never forget and our friendship is noteworthy. Nick and his son Blake can be seen in many old videos and vlogs on the BFS youtube channel. It was awesome to catch up with him about his business and social media content creation. Nick is hard worker and that comes from his years of skateboarding. We have a lot to learn from his dedication.
