Kevin Hines is a leader in suicide prevention. He is a leader because not only is he a survivor, but his perspective is unique and captivating, and you will definitely want to hear his story. The year is 2000...you had a mission to end your life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, and you’re here today to tell about it. The goal of today’s podcast is to help others to understand the grief and pain one is suffering as they attempt suicide and what we can do if we are suspecting that someone is in that place and to take it even further...what we can do as a society to prevent it from happening. The two most significant aspects of Kevin’s story are: The bus The tourist Some questions we address: 1. Who is at risk for suicide? 2. Do people threaten suicide to get attention? 3. If I ask someone about suicide, does that put the idea in their head? 4. What if someone is posting suicidal messaging in social media? 5. What should I do if I am in crisis or someone I know is?
Coz Green is a host of Coz TV and the Coz Green Audio Experience podcast. Coz is an experienced narrator of Audible and iTunes audio books.. His motto is to “live an extraordinary life and be the best version of you”. As we move out of 2020 and into 2021, boy do we need a reminder to do this. Coz says we need to tap into your superconscious, diving, your God, etc. to look outside of yourself to accomplish great things for yourself and for humanity by coming together and thinking of “WE”. Moving into a new year means people are wanting to go through some kind of transformation. Since weight loss is big on people’s lists, Coz talks about how his weight loss was coupled with mental health. Coz discusses his three suicide attempts and “divine intervention” that prompted him to realize his purpose and appreciate of life, even though it was a long road of recovery. He says that when we get out of our own way and figure out the “why”, and with consideration of others, he knew he could reach his potential. He says we are our worst enemies and critics so getting beyond our own fears, we can have a much better life. Coz talks directly to those listeners who are at the bottom like he was, giving them hope for living their best life. Depression, suicide, and medication did not hold him back. Healing, a change in mindset, pursuing mental wellness and surrounding him with positive people helped him transform into the person he is today.

Dr. Salah Qutaishat is an Infectious Disease Epidemiologist at International Infection Prevention Group PhD in microbiology and immunology His past positions include: System Manager and then the Director of infection prevention Lead the System Infection Prevention Team. The system included 7 acute care hospitals, multiplicity ambulatory care services, land long term care facilities. Senior Clinical Advisor of Infection Prevention He is a passionate executive within the healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, clinical excellence, and information technology sector with 30+ years of industry experience and success.
Though Salah has an extensive scientific background, his focus on overcoming this pandemic is on our social behavior. Some questions answered in this interview: What happens to your body when you get COVID? Short term & Long term effects? Quarantine rules...why shouldn’t the vulnerable populations have to isolate rather than those who may have had it or who are not too concerned? What about the new mutation that is more contagious ? How promising is this vaccine? I am hearing that the complexity of this virus must be manmade and therefore must have been released from a lab in China…? Will life be back to normal? What can be normal, what can’t be? How long will we be wearing masks? Kids? Why aren’t kids spreading this or being less symptomatic? COVID toes? A thing? Herd immunity? Which countries are successful, criteria for that and which are not? Vaccines? Chances of these being harmful long-term? Testing - what are we doing well, what is not going right? Are countries counting correctly? There’s some controversy around this. What should people do in order to help us get back to "normal" Should we believe all that Dr. Fauci is telling us? Shouldn't it be a team approach? Are teachers in danger or safe? When will we get back to “normal”?
We talk to 7th graders Savannah and Andrew today who are from Kentucky and offer some great insight on managing themselves, their space and their homework through a pandemic.

Prateek Sureka is an Innovation Specialist who works in the intersection of policy, technology and innovation, consulting governments to develop Smart Cities of the future and leading teams in the Uk, India, Canada and United States. His vision for the future is to support climate change where we cut out carbon emissions and get rid of economic disparity. We discussed some innovations that incorporate interesting robotics and tech. Singapore, for example, has robotic police, in the form of robotic dogs, created by Boston Dynamics that help to regulate how far apart people are social distancing. A dystopian future is not out of the question with these types of advancements so using caution is more than necessary. Shows like Black Mirror demonstrates how this kind of tech may go awry, though we humans can explore ways to safely incorporate tech into Smart Cities. There is a trade off to living in these kinds of cities since it can be costly. We also discussed data privacy and what people are doing to advocate for policies around security. Some questions we address: What is a Sidewalk Lab? What systems in a smart city will be affected? What training should our youth get now to adapt to the future job market? What has to happen in order to see smart cities as a reality? How long will this take? When will 5g get here and how will it shape the future of tech? What jobs should our youth prepare for?
Breanne Wylie is a PhD candidate and researcher in the field of developmental psychology, as well as a research associate and team lead for the Canadian Child Interviewing research team. Her work, focusing on how adults communicate with children, specifically when interviewing child witnesses within a legal context, has been published in a multitude of psychology journals. She has given lectures on promoting honest and accurate reports from children and has spoken at national and international conferences.
We discussed answers to the following questions:
Why is your research important? Can anyone use these techniques (with good intentions)? How do you test for efficacy?
Other topics discussed:
How children are questioned as witnesses in cases that involve family or criminal court How to protect children who have to undergo this process and how to question them to provide the best information How the research and these techniques are useful to parents, teachers and caregivers who suspect something suspicious may be going on and ways they can question them to uncover the truth so we can best support them.

Scott Manduck is self-directed natural healthcare professional who has worked with Disney, Microsoft, YouTube, Google and Bombardier. He is also the founder of https://www.DoOilsTribe.com. Scott said that when his wife was ill, they took treatment into their own hands as there was a lack of communication among medical professionals, so “integrated medicine” was not actually occurring. After consulting the healthcare professionals who were involved in his wife’s care, he found out how important it was to listen to their guidance, but to also dive into the research themselves. Scott says that gut health is a major part of overall health and reducing inflammation is a big piece of the healing puzzle as well. Scott says that essential oils are safe when you get the right kind of essential oil. Reading the ingredients label, rather than just the front of the bottle where marketing is most dominant, is imperative. Anything that says “fragrance” on the label is a chemical and should be “thrown in the garbage” according to Scott. He also suggests that replacing toxic cleaning products with vinegar and water and essential oils is best for the health Ultimately, the message is to do your research, look at the science, consider your life experiences, think about case studies that have been conducted and published, etc. and make judgements based on your own needs. Again, listening to medical doctors IS important as well - Scott is saying to do your research, consider all of the angels and then make decisions about your health from there. He recommends this book for resetting gut health: “The Autoimmune Solution” by Amy Myers, M.D. https://store.amymyersmd.com/products/the-autoimmune-solution-prevent-and-reverse-the-full-spectrum-of-inflammatory-symptoms-and-diseases
He also recommends watching the documentary on YouTube called: “Root Cause” though it is important to also mention that there is another documentary that was posted to debunk the claims in this documentary at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIlYf047Pt8&t=29s (Australian Society of Endodontology NSW, 2019). Colin Thompson is an entrepreneur, business owner, father and husband. Today we talk with him about unconscious bias, or implicit bias, and how it shapes humanity. WIth so much civil unrest in the US and globally with the BLM movement, this is an important conversation. Defunding the police is not about removing money from police officers arbitrarily, it is about funding programs to help children develop a more positive relationship with police (and visa versa) so we can create generational shifts in our feeling of comfort and safety with police officers. Colin has lived in various parts of the world such as Canada, the United States (Kentucky - my home state whoop whoop) and China. He says that helping others is contagious, and we can help advance humanity. Listening is one simple thing we can do to help people he says, and his message is powerful and positive. As a coach in “the sport of life”. Colin helps train corporate employees in diversity and sometimes works with people one-on-one. Having a more culturally aware and conscious workforce gives us more competitive advantage. Colin says that what is taking place with the #BLM protests and rallies are “beautiful” because this issue is being talked about and we can maintain consciousness without any violence, which is the intention in igniting change. Anyone who wants to truly make a positive difference can start by being an ally.

Nic McKinley is a former CIA and Pararescuer who has a Harvard education. He is the founder of DeliverFund.org and Verafī.net. Human trafficking is compared to slavery since someone is profitting from it; it is an economic exchange. Every 2.5 hours a child is taken according to the NCMEC. Human traffickers use technology to lure their victims and Nic McKinley collects data to help law enforcement find children who are trafficked. Labor trafficking is a massive problem in the United States as well, so DeliverFund.org helps to eliminate this issue. Traffickers are sifting through Facebook, Tik Tok, instagram, and all of the social media outlets to find youth, especially girls, so COVID has made trafficking worse since more youth are online. Nic says that traffickers are looking for some type of vulnerability and the person who is trafficking is a master at identifying girls. Ultimately, he says, it is a numbers game as they chat with as many vulnerable boys and girls as they can such as through these social media platforms but also through video gaming. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, only 1% are recovered and 25% who go missing enter the trafficking market or cycle. About 100,000 enter that market in the United States and only 1% of them are found, so that is why Nic says it is more important to go after the root cause of human trafficking so that it to target the traffickers. Nic also discussed how defunding the police will make it more difficult to find missing children so this is something we should appreciate about our law enforcement. The best things the parents can do is NOT to let their children on Tik Tok according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). Traffickers are bullies and children and teens should tell adults if they are victims or have been approached. If you have a friend who is involved in something suspicious, you need to tell an adult because if they were overdosing, you wouldn’t ignore them. You would help save your friend’s life since their life span average when trafficked is just 7 years. Deliverfund.org has a THRIVERS programs for victims who are rescued by connecting them to community resources. They do not run safe houses, but they are the ones who gathers intelligence and then supports victims by connecting them with professionals.
Nic is hopeful that we can eradicate human trafficking which is why he is focusing on going after the trafficker.

Karen suggests that mom and dad look inward to see how they are feeling so they can “take their own temperature” before addressing their children’s needs. If not, it is a set up for conflict and agony in the home. She has some strategies to use with parents so they can regulate and properly respond to their children to help answer their questions since there will be a lot of uncertainty.
Getting children to self-regulate is great too. Practicing strategies with them are important to do so when everything is going well so they can use the strategies when chaos ensues.
Lynda discusses the importance of modeling these strategies for your children to help them through the anxiety they are feeling. Behavior is a “cry out” for something that is happening with children, so Karen is working on a booked called “COVID DAYS 911” to help parents deal with the anxiety their children are experiencing.

Dr. Ashley Wellman is a criminologist, children's author and mom who has a life story that took an unexpected turn. As she puts it,“I am a scholar who focuses on grief/trauma/loss particularly with sexual assault and homicide survivors, BUT it was this very work that helped me fight through my own traumatic/PTSD experience: the sudden death of my young husband”. Ashley serves victims of homicide and sexual assault, but this podcast is not about her work with others. In this episode, we cover some of the following questions: What is the difference between pre and post trauma for you? Who are you now because of your experiences? What is it like the moment you knew you lost him? What were the next 24 hours, the next week for you? Talk about being vulnerable with Reghan. After hearing Ashley’s story of transitioning to a “new normal” with her daughter, she talks about how others helped her through it since being on her own would be too difficult. EMDR therapy helped Ashley with traumatic visions she had which were haunting her, and eventually she was able to “reshape” her images. Ashley also took a creative leap away from academia and wrote a children’s book about seeking the special qualities in those who are deemed to be different. Thom King is the Founder and CEO of Steviva and natural sugar alternatives, Thom King, a self-proclaimed foodie and health nut, he founded Steviva as a way to effectively help combat metabolic disease and the “diabesity” (his self-coined term to refer to obesity + diabetes) epidemic in this country by offering clean-label sweetening systems to replace sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup. Steviva Brands Inc. is one of the largest importers, manufacturers and distributors of clean-label sweetening systems and natural sweeteners. As a serial entrepreneur, he says, “you aren’t doing well unless you’re also doing some good”. Thom is a food scientist and formulator who figured out that sucralose smells like chlorine and was amazed that humans are putting this into their body and it may disrupt your body’s biodome. Taking care of your gut health can help your whole body so this was important to Thom and his team to develop a natural sweetener that would work well with your body and not cause disruption or neurological effects to your body. Thom talks about the “liquid” sugar (corn syrup) that is used in many of our products and its effect on fat storage in the body. When you eat too much fructose, it automatically gets stored as lipids around your organs and stomach which hinders our health. We also discuss the difference between the Keto and Paleo diets and the benefits of each. Thom explains the importance of the liver which is able to metabolize fats into ketones, and the body makes a more energy source in the metabolic process. There’s nothing better than keto for brain function, focus, concentration, etc. Keto is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. Overall, Thom believes it is the responsibility of individuals to make these substitutions as big business and the government won’t do it for us. As parents, I asked if his products were safe for kids, and he assured me that they have been FDA approved and safe for our children to use.

Cyndee Hopkins is an author and survivor of tremendous adversity. What she experienced as a mother of four children under the age of 6 is unimaginable. Motherhood is challenging even with the best support. Coping with a significant change and trying to manage it alone was a “new normal” she had to adapt to, which was a tremendous hardship as she was not only grieving for herself, she was grieving for four other people - her children. Taking time to herself was a major challenge and learning to work through self-care and fostering old relationships had to be navigated differently. Being there for her kids and nurturing her own mental health was really difficult. Cyndee said that she slowly learned to fill her own cup before he could fill her kids cup with love, affection and attention. She said she saved the “ugly crying” for when she was alone, but it was important to get through the grief as it came on or else it would just show up later. She went through a period of anger, though eventually she came to terms with her new life and learned some major life lessons that she wants to share with others. Getting stuck in the “why” is why people get bitter, so it is important to work through this to heal. Something else that was interesting later in Cyndee’s life is that she got to meet the First Responder who showed up to her home the day she found her husband who tragically died. This is truly a joyful part of the story as together, after all these years, they are working together to support other first responders. Staying connected has helped them to use their story to serve other front line workers in their community. Cyndee said their lives are now interwoven. Cyndee says that what happened to her was “25 years of adversity wrapped in really ugly wrapping paper”. Her book dives deeply into her journey and serves others who have many challenges to overcome. Cyndee says that joy and sorrow can live in the same space. Some people just get bitter. They don’t get better. “Sometimes the sorrow makes the joy more joyful.”

Dr. Randy Beck is an internationally renowned expert in the field of clinical neuroplasticity and neuroplastic restructuring techniques. He is the Executive Director of the Institute of Functional Neuroscience in Perth, Australia, he has authored text books and has won the Excellence in Teaching and Neurologist of the Year awards.
With the use of FMRI, we can now map the function of the brain and is a major advancement in neuroscience along with the EEG who use mathematical formulas which are used for analysis to determine where problems are in the brain.
We now know the effects of toxic substance use during pregnancy can affect the fetus since the nervous system is already formed on day 28 of embryonic development, before the woman knows she is pregnant.
Concussion is much more understood now, which is important because we know that symptoms indicate a problem with the neural function of the brain and we want to ensure we reconnect the synapses in the brain. Being aware of aggressive behavior is important because the frontal part of the brain is acting as a gate to the emotions and the connections get disrupted in some types of trauma so some emotional aggression/rage can arise.
Dr. Beck also says that the brain does not know the difference between emotional trauma and physical trauma. He says that people can actually die of a broken heart and physical and emotional pain show up on an FMRI the same in the brain since pain is a perception where the brain creates the feeling of pain.
Uncovering this new information about brain-based dysfunction is important to eliminate stigma around mental health so people get the help. Postpartum depression, for example, could be better treated if there wasn’t a stigma for new moms.
In Hollywood, stigma also exists and neuroscience can help celebrities get help rather than isolate themselves where some go into depression and attempt or complete suicide such as Robin Williams.
A discussion of the neurological implications of COVID-19 are there, but we do not know what the long-term effects are and we have never seen anything like this coronavirus in human history. Therefore, Dr. Beck’s advice is “just don’t get it”. Avoiding exposure is important since we do not know what it will eventually do to our immune systems or others systems in our body both long and short-term. Overall, there are economic, health, parental, education and other issues, and those who have to make decisions have a tough job. Since there has never been a vaccine against a coronavirus, we just can’t tell what will happen in the future.
Stress is also an important body function that affects us in many ways. The hypothalamus, pituitary glands and hormones are activated and the sympathetic nervous system causes inhibition of certain aspects of our nervous system, and chronic stress can impede the immune system to fight disease so essentially, stress can make you sick. Being able to manage stress and regulating the emotional part of the brain is how we effectively mitigate this. Dr. Dan Siegel, who is a neuroscientist as well, is an expert in this area where he gives us strategies to trick our brain to get out of these stressful states. When people have strong social connections and social support systems, such as in education, gives them a sense of worth and can help them thrive. Dr. Beck hopes one day that his research finds solace for families who have children with Autism in understanding why they don’t speak, that would be a major breakthrough. Though some of Dr. Beck’s clinical results are controversial, they are still there, which is exciting and provides hope for people who may have not had the opportunity to thrive in the past. Overall, he is hopeful about the future and the field of neuroscience is making remarkable improvements everyday.

Perimenopause, peri “around” meno “menses” and pause means to “stop”.
This is when women started feeling like “strangers in their own skin” and traditionally, women have been treated with synthetic support, such as with birth control pills, though more natural ways would be more beneficial and effective.
Estrogen is the hormone that is the “don’t feel good hormone” that makes women feel bloated, irritable, tired, etc. whereas progesterone helps to combat these symptoms. Since hormones are messengers, they are not functioning at optimal levels so women aren’t experiencing optimal health without the proper, natural support.
Using a “root cause resolution approach” will help you feel as great as you did at 20 and 30 years old even into your 40s, 50s and beyond. Addressing nutrition, hormonal, and ways we are nourishing our bodies will help us reach optimal health. Loree Bischoff is a Personal Performance Coach, Podcaster of We’re Talking Shift, and Author. She gives sound advice about how to age well and provides you with 5 steps to get started living your healthiest lifestyle. What does it take to age well according to Loree? What do you want it to be? Why do you want the health that you want? How are you going to get there? What process will you use? Having a plan and a goal will get you to the point of aging well for how you envision it. Attitude and energy are indicators for how people will age, and shifting this at any point is possible. Loree says it’s important to compliment others by saying “you look so healthy” instead of saying “you’re pretty”! Loree discusses notable guests on her show such as an expert who spoke about healthy fats and oils like with Joe Cross and with episode like Health Shift: "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead." Other guests include Dr. Tommy John who has also spoken about different ways of exercising, and Dr. Lori Schemek to discuss sugar and processed foods. Sugar, fat and salt are designed to make you addicted and your taste buds are involved in that process as well, by design. We have a whole generation of children who may not outlive their parents. Loree says the rule has to be that sugar should not be a part of your daily lifestyle, and people don’t realize that refined flour has the same effect as sugar. Sugar throws your glucose levels off, and your pancreas has to work in overdrive which produces an overabundance of insulin and makes your glucose plummet. This body process affects your energy and works against you as it is taxing on your whole body system. Loree says there is a 5 step process for aging well that she outlines in this episode. What you are putting into your body affects everything in your body and your body is being replaced and regenerated biologically so taking care of it is paramount to how well you age. If you continue doing the same things over and over, you will continue to get the same results, but if you look at this time as an opportunity to make changes for long term positive outcomes. Loree references several authors to back up her ideas in addition to the deep learning she has been doing for years and practices herself. Some of the work she mentions is by Dr. Deepak Chopra Dr. Bruce Lipton and epigenetics, Dr. Joe Dispenza Maxwell Maltz Psycho-Cybernetics. Something Loree asks is what is it that you can stop doing right now that will make a difference, and one way you can check yourself when something is enticing, ask yourself if it aligns with your goal. It is also important to let go of stress, toxicity and resentment in your life. Ultimately, she says to stop disrespecting your body and take on the rest of your life with the most energy and care you can so that it functions at its best. Lastly, Loree says that if this is important to you, you have to get really GREEDY about your health. “Health is wealth!” Podcast: https://www.loreebischoff.com/projects Books: https://www.loreebischoff.com/shop Website: https://www.loreebischoff.com/ Facebook: @LoreeBischoff Instagram: @loree.bischoff Twitter: @LoreeBLifeCoach LinkedIn: LoreeBischoff

Catherine Sherlock is a leadership consultant and founder of Higher Mindfulness who is in the business of transforming leaders from the inside out. She has a different approach to meditation so people can take back their own power and enhance their leadership capacity. Each medication has its own strengths, and is not a one size fits all. Though Catherine has a Masters degree in Environmental Studies and was a sustainability consultant but the work declined because company budgets declined. This prompted her to look at the work place and humanity as a whole to see where the holes are in focusing. She has been studying under various teachers Catherine says that we are taught that our left brain is supposed to be control of our right brain. She says that when we change our thinking about that, we are able to access a deeper consciousness. By doing this, we can avoid living out of fear since we live our life trying to avoid pain. If you are not coming into cohesion, you are on autopilot so it is essential that leaders should expand their consciousness. Catherine says leaders have self-doubt and their own emotions since we have been taught to deal with them in a way that keeps us in an internal struggle. She says we fight within ourselves, and we need to make ourselves allies by making a life transforming switch. The problem with burnout and stress is at an all time high and essentially burnout is an epidemic. We need to get out of “overwhelm” and get into empowerment. She says that we use “ego” to create a disconnect from self like we do with negative emotions. Leaders should be taught how to deal with their emotions better so we can turn our energy towards more positive work that will leave us feeling fulfilled. Catherine says we are supposed to use our right and our left brains in tandem and using intuition would make us much more productive leaders. Catherine says you can do well by doing good in the world.

Dalia Hesham is an International Education Consultant who provides insight on how schools can effectively open in the midst of this pandemic. Dalia says that we need to look at school communities individually and get creative to support students and staff to align with local and government mandates, ensuring we address concerns properly. Additionally, grouping students meaningfully and identifying key people involved while structuring the school day will help students flourish, even ones who are remote learners. Looking at data and addressing the unique needs of the school is paramount to a successful transition in a positive way. Dalia says that when we engage parents they are more invested, and they become part of the solution. Having them involved as much as possible will benefit the school with careful consideration of laws and regulations such as through HIPAA so child protection and safeguarding is important. Using transparency with parents shows them that their children’s mental health and wellbeing are being looked after. Dalia also says that teachers’ mental health and well-being needs to be addressed so we can strengthen relationships within the building and leaders should model this for their staff. Having workshops within schools for self-care is important as well as professional development. Harvard, Oxford, Pennsylvania Universities have free online courses that would be supportive of teachers for professional development right now. Educational leadership would be useful too as “leaders have been born” due to COVID-19. Dalia coaches people through an educational leadership course through ImproveEd. Also, CPD courses around child protection and safeguarding children, contagion, remediation and reading strategies would be useful as well. Dalia’s advice to parents who are also school leaders is to take it easy and start off small so you do not get overwhelmed. Also, it is important to ask for help and look for parents to volunteer using their strengths to build a strong community. Dalia says that sometimes it is ok to say “no”. With regards to opening up schools, Dalia says to use students who will help with positivity and have staff get creative in making some of the new rules fun such as using colored soap when handwashing. Additionally, some suggestions are staggering start times, meal time adjustments, reducing traffic within hallways, ensuring all staff and students follow CDC guidelines, have students learn from each other in small groups and considering needs of each age group. Again, identifying key people within the school community is important in this transition and having tours of the school prior to starting, even virtually or externally, may help with the adjustment. With technology, innovation and the human element of connection with the world coming together over the last couple of months, such as the United States, the United Arab Emirate (UAE), the United Kingdom (UK), Canada, etc. getting together to figure out how to move humanity forward, it is essential that we consider all people who are stakeholders, including parents, so we can unite. Todd Wiest is a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force and is now the Director Of Business Development - Space & Missiles at Quantech Services, Inc. He provides insight into the future of space travel and innovations that will change the face of humanity. Todd studied the issues that occurred with the Challenger explosion in the 1980’s and says that after several launch failures in the 90s, they have learned a lot about the technology behind a successful launch, which is why we have advanced so much. We also discussed the issues of climate change and population increase, we may need to look elsewhere to repopulate, potentially outside of this earth or on an orbited International Space Station type dwelling. At the time of this recording, Elon Musk’s SpaceX has just launched its first two astronauts to space for the first time in history on a privatized rocket. They are sending small satellites up to space which fall into the categories of geo, heo or leo. The geo satellite is spinning at the same time and rate as the earth so the satellite follows that same spot on the earth which is why you are always locked on. GPS helps you have the ability to drive to different locations and timing it will take to get there. Satellites also help up with national security to tell us where missiles are facing and when they launch. In the future, Elon Musk is actually working on providing internet called Starlink to connect people throughout the whole work since continents like Africa only have about 40% connectivity and miniaturization is how we will advance in the future by leveraging space. Space technology has led us to the technology we have with the internet and cell phones. The Apollo actually had diverse teams that pioneered many applications and devices we have improved upon that allows us the convenience and communication we have today.

Geoff Cook is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Meet Group, an online meet up site which they claim is “the magic of human connection”. As a result of the pandemic, there was a dramatic increase of livestream and people who were not used to doing livestream are now using it more frequently. The crisis has “pulled the future forward” so now The Meet Group is looking to be a filter before the real life meet up in person. The Meet Group has 5 different apps that are recognized all over the world so connecting with others is much more valuable and easy. Interacting with others in video is richer than using other media, so this form is a great way to date prior to making a deeper connection. A video chat ahead of time just makes more sense. In the future, people will likely rely upon this system, so it is an exciting time to enter the dating scene - and it is mostly online at this point! Even though there is a verify tab, the virtual meet up just confirms that the person is who they say it is. Also, Blind Date is an online show that this company started, and more exciting projects are on their way to production such as a show when you earn a prize when you connect with people. The Meet Group promotes a high level of safety employing 500 people to assess the content that might pose a risk. A clear code of conduct has been created and is enforced by educating the users, and when someone crosses a boundary, inappropriate content is also regulated by AI and algorithms. They also have partnered with FaceTech, a company that can help regulate abusive users that try to create new profiles that also estimates the age of the streamer to ensure they are not underage. Questions we asked: -Is the coronavirus affecting the dating industry? Affecting your apps? -What are you doing to change how people date during a global pandemic? -Do you see differences across the world in video dating? -What is the future of live streaming and dating? - How can livestreaming help with mental health in times of isolation? -What kinds of things are people doing on dating apps during a pandemic?

Twyla Dell is an Author Fuel and Energy Historian and Activist. As an environmental leader, Twyla writes a daily blog and says the pandemic serves as a “forced evolution” and will help spark change in the future. Twkyas says that gas is detrimental to our environment and that we need to stop using it. Coral reefs are also important ecosystems that are often compromised because many species start there, and we need to be careful not to ruin them. If we do not make these changes then: “Soggy shoes syndrome” Boston, NYC, San Francisco, etc. coastal cities will not be liveable “Tumbleweed syndrome” Cities that are inland will dry up and agriculture will suffer She says that we need to have the ice caps and once they melt, we can’t go back. Twyla says that people are conditioned to accept the use of gasoline and we rely upon big companies to make policies around climate change that is just not happening. We need to stop using so much CO2. Buying electric cars are helpful, but now we can communicate remotely which is a gift as it saves us money from not burning gasoline and also time. Some people will have challenges, though combining trips and carpooling is part of the solution and will contribute to this problem in both the short and long-term. Twyla created a workbook to use less gas and lose pounds - both CO2 and weight. She says we have maybe 5 years, not 20 years, and we are hovering at the point of no return with the ice caps. The temperature will rise, populations will be pushed out, tropical diseases and animal populations will increase, there will be environmental refugees, and it will be overcrowded in the zones that are desirable. People are doing their part by recycling, but we need more education about how to do it properly, and water bottles need to stop being produced. Twyla’s book FUELING CHANGE (fuelingchange.org) walks us through the changes in energy over time. In a very short time, energy shifted quickly into the cataclysmic contribution to CO2 which needs to transition into the solar age heading into the future. Additionally, more use of “electronic highways” will be beneficial which will save tons of CO2. Remote learning, remote work, and remote communication is necessary. IN the future, Dr. Dell hopes to see electronic “Smart” cities, blue skies and a celebration of Earth Day where climate change and global warming slowed and stopped. David Yakobovitch ia Principal Data Scientist at Galvanize and Podcast Host of Humaine Podcast. We discuss the future of digitized education that will likely be more of a hybrid approach. Since traditional teaching “teaches to the middle” this will provide an opportunity to meet students where they are. Additionally, this approach is more equitable, assuming all of the technology is in place, as students who were reluctant and shy may not have been excelling as there was too much social pressure for them in the classroom. Addressing social change is an important part of this discussion and providing equipment will need to be funded by the government, which is a reasonable investment. New communication tools will need to be implemented in this new age of education and work. In education, students may be able to accelerate through education, especially in asynchronous learning, since each student learns at their own pace. Project-based or problem-based learning will likely be the way we go in the future. To prepare for the future of work, it is time to go digital. David said we need much more digital education skills infused in early education, and long-term, kids can decide if they want to move through the regular track to college or go straight into a specialized digital field. What do we encourage our youth to do to prepare? Technology is changing rapidly, but education has not been keeping pace, so this is a shift we need to make as we redesign education. Hackathons and coding projects are great for young kids to help prepare them. Making and creating should be central focuses. Other topics we discuss: Obstacles: access, internet Splintering of education because not all learnings will go online Moving from a tech economy to a knowledge economy earning tech at an earlier age is better. Anyone can learn a skill at any age. Innovation / Apprenticeships Service economy and tech economy Hackathons Coding scratch lego tech tools What does that mean for the future of work then? What skills should we infuse in the system now looking ahead Digital literacy skills What about collaborative learning skills? What needs to happen in the future to make education purposeful Podcast: http://www.humainpodcast.com/listen LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidyakobovitch/

As an investigatory and security advisor, Larry helps to protect the pubic. He says hes ot bias hes a realistAssessment of strengths, needs and information about how a trauma-informed lens can help support young learners. They will be given a Larry says that defunding the police would be a mistake as a result of the Black Lives Matter #BLM protests. He says the people who live in gated communities already have safety and security but the lower socioeconomic areas will suffer and chaos will ensue. He says that now there is “total lawlessness” and there is a concern for the security of our nation. With school liaisons being defunding, for example, Larry says it is a disservice as the relationship with police officers are imperative for change to occur, and schools are where this can positively occur. He says defunding the police puts preventive measures into place, and we need to learn from the past like with Columbine and Sandy Hook. A discussion about arming the police in schools is helpful when you have trained professionals in the school who are sharp and fit to be able to deal with any threatening situation. Larry says that training police is key such as how to make an effective arrest and treating people with respect, although some people simply hate the police and will not negotiate. In places like in Seattle right now, for example, there is a risk of defunding the police as more people may be killed or sexually assaulted with more violence approaching so having a police force is necessary. With protestors over the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, etc. there is increasing unrest that needs to be settled without further violence.

Aaron Gouveia is an author of a brand new book called “Raising Boys to Be Good Men: A Parent's Guide to Bringing Up Happy Sons in a World Filled with Toxic Masculinity” His son Sam Gouveia was in the media for getting his nails painted by his grandmother who is a manicurist and got bullied. With this story taking hold in the media from the Today Show, Good Morning America, People.com, The Sun Chronicle, Mash Up and others, he was asked to write a book about raising boys and toxic masculinity. Jessica DuLong from CNN wrote a story about this book which is gaining exposure. Aaron confesses that he grew up with stereotypes about being a guy and being gay, but having three boys has greatly changed his perspective on how boys should be raised. He says that people need to think about why they object to gender specific behaviors that kids do such as painting nails or wearing pink socks that we are socialized to believe are catered to “girl behaviors”. People all over the United States showed support for five year old Sam, including Rob Gronkowski, former New England Patriot who is now on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Aaron says people will risk their own lives and of others through this COVID-10 pandemic when men will not wear masks to preserve their masculinity. What is a “good man”? Aaron argues that a good man is hard to define but is clearly a man who takes care of his family. He says he doesn’t know what is more manly than a father staying home with kids and making a societal shift is important in the future. When discussing mental health, Aaron says that a strong man is knowing when to ask for help when you need it and making sure you’re around to take care of your family. When parents are teaching their kids to address toxic masculinity, Aaron’s research shows that having conversations with kids is important and talking about consent, race and privilege is necessary ongoingly. Standing up for other people who are mistreated and bullying is also imperative to instill in raising our kids since there is strength in numbers. Being a bystander is complicit and makes you a part of the problem according to Aaron, and speaking up for what women have to do to stay safe and speaking on their behalf is an important value to emphasise as well. We also discussed the manipulation and guilt men use in society to try to get girls or women to sleep with them. He says this realization came with being a father of boys and sitting with that uncomfortable feeling of contributing to the problem is how we will ignite this change. The social pressure needs to be eliminated so we can shift the view that boys have towards girls where they are objectified and sexualized. As a former journalist, Aaron spent a lot of time research and citing credible sources for his information in this book. We also discuss the controversy that was stirred up by Tom Brady and Bill Bollichuk kissing their kids on the lips and how kids and boys need to show affection. Aaron thinks we shouldn’t have gender reveal parties because he doesn’t want people to show their disappointment. Shane Smith is a former Colonel and National Defense Fellow in the US Air Force who is now a Lecturer at the University of Tennessee. Shane had Top Secret clearance with insight into national security. He has extensive experience in operations with a demonstrated history leading large, complex organizations. The EP3 incident is a good example of when an unprofessional event can be dangerous, but typically our air space is safe. We also discuss Russia’s unilateral takeover of Crimea in recent history, and what the means for the Ukraine and the United States. SInce Ukraine is not a NATO country, there was no military operation in place. Tensions have been rising in the United States with Russia and China and there may be long term implications affecting a variety of industries, relations and global security. The biggest threat is their nuclear arsenal. Though Shane has to be cautious about what he shares, he provides great insight into our relations with Russia and China and their tricky relationship. Off-shoring is occurring more and more with China with products such as pharmaceuticals, and even intellectual property. Growing your GDP (economy) is through population and China’s growing elderly population is causing a problem. Re-education camps, essentially concentration camps, as a means to keep a strong hold on citizens. Will we have global stability? If so, for how long?

As a seasoned professor at the University of Baltimore, he has extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and has appeared on many media outlets to provide his insight. For a more thorough discussion of this, you can access Professor Ross’s extensive list of publications at: https://www.amazon.com/Jeffrey-Ian-Ross/e/B000AQ10W6/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1378919895&sr=1-2-ent Blog: https://jeffreyianross.com/blog/ Dr. Ross says that people who have experienced the prison systems from within can add valuable insight to ultimately help society improve the system. This pandemic will influence changes on a micro and macro scale in North American and throughout the world, so we need to pay attention to how others are supporting their citizens and resocializing convicts humanely, who are stigmatized, so all of society can benefit. Scandinavia may have an advantageous corrections system in which we may want to pay closer attention. Doug Anderson and Stephanie Constable work for Earnscliffe, a government relations and public policy company. Their services include opinion and market research that are shared with policy makers and leaders, and recently they conducted a study that provides insight into changing attitudes post-COVID. Their study contributes to understanding what Canadians expect of policy-makers and corporate leaders in addressing the needs for a changing society. We discuss changing spending habits, time we now spend at home, changing work situations and slowing down our lifestyle. Though the study did not break down each industry, it is clear that we are looking for life to change from what we knew it. We are looking for safe ways to re-open the economy and image a future of stability - what will that look like and what needs to happen to ensure that?
Questions we address: Has the pandemic changed what Canadians want from governments over the long-term? What is the support like of Ontarians for Doug Ford? Has that changed? Has the pandemic changed how Canadians feel about industries or companies? Can we count on these attitudinal changes to last? Will there be a follow up study? Julie Christensen is an author, speaker, psychotherapist, founder of Leverage U. Julie wants people to have more open communication in order to establish connection so we can show more empathy with others. Starting this at an early age is an important piece of how the next generation can be more equipped to manage their expectations of life and of others. Julie also says that anger by itself is not bad, and in fact, it is anger that helps motivate us to change. Her perspective is unique as she is in a interracial marriage and have extended family that are racially mixed, which has impacted her greatly. She says that she has experienced racism her whole life and had a candid conversation about the Black Lives Matter movement from the lens of how pain and anger underlies a systemic problem. The death of George Floyd sparked outrage because people feel anger and fear due to a system that continues to be unjust. This scenario, like Rodney King, Sandra, Bland and many others makes her sad and tired. She also says that equality and fairness are two different things, and we need to make changes in our attitudes that will help create a shift on a larger scale long term. It’s the system that is set up to disadvantage marginalized groups, and this needs to change. Being more consciously aware before we make comments that might be offensive and considering our intent could help people connect on a deeper level. Ultimately, the message is that we need to build relationships. When that happens, we can see each other for who we really are, and the attitude towards being human will take on more value over skin color. @tv - info about history of systemic racism Buzz Feed

Larry Forletta is a retired federal DEA agent dynamic speaker and educator who talks about the drug wars in North America. According to the New Castle News (ncnewsonline.com), Larry is “a highly decorated former Special Agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He has received awards from the Attorney General of the United States as well as from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. military” (Jan 19, 2019). Larry was also featured on the Oxygen documentary "The Smiley Face Killer" due to his connection with the Dakota James case. Over the course of his professional service with law enforcement he led high level investigations of domestic and international criminal organizations, achieving a 100% conviction rate. With the fascination of drug trafficking in the media with shows like Narcos, Breaking Bad, El Chapo and Pablo Escobar, this episode highlights the approach we are taking to thwart the drug war so North Americans can lead more peaceful lives. Larry talks about the drug war getting worse than it is better, and the people who “get into the game” come from all kinds of backgrounds. He says that people who do not have money, even single mothers, are approached who have a hard time turning the money down as a means to support their livelihood. Both lower class and upper class neighborhoods have drug issues, and once you are approached, it becomes difficult for anyone at that point. These people become mules or stash houses and the drug problem gets perpetuated. He said that the purity is at about 90% and the drugs are mixed with fentanyl, which is also making it much more deadly. According to Susan Stellin reporting for the New York Times, “Drugs have been the top reason people have been arrested in the United States for at least the past 10 years, and marijuana has been the top drug involved in those arrests” (Nov. 5, 2019). Larry says that more education is needed and programs such as the demand reduction programs, D.A.R.E. programs, and local police talks are great starting points. Additionally, illegal immigration is a problem, and we need to protect our borders as there is a continued flow of drug coming from Mexico. He does not agree that there should be so many rules and legislation around mental health issues such as PTSD, which is a presumption that does not serve the business industry well. Stephane also says that we have developed too many policies that disempower managers to appropriately interact with their employees where the “clinical narrative has invaded the workspace”. He believes mental health is too complicated and could be simplified in a way to empower leaders to address their staff in supportive, non-clinical ways and that it is less relevant in the workplace. According to Stephane, the narrative needs to be de-medicalized and leaders need to learn skills. In his training program, they role play and engage in interactive scenarios to get them to practice how they would formulate how they would support their employees under difficult circumstances. He argues that they can change management behaviors who may be heavily focused on productivity, though need to improve their relationship building with staff who would respond more positively. Don’t wait until someone is sick; build the relationship now, and it will pay out. His program rehumanizes people and the peer support model he uses compliments everything else that is in place such as the EAP, benefit program, etc. He says that there is evidence that peer support will help integrate people into society and back into the workplace better, so it imperative for us to train leaders for the future of humanity, Buy Stephane’s Book: After the War https://www.amazon.ca/After-War-Surviving-Changing-Culture/dp/0889775338 Website: https://mhic-cism.com/stephane-grenier/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/mental-health-innovations-consulting/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/s_grenier YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkLF78tiP4Xk7hTQY4_WC7A

He said that reality t.v. today captures the talent and skills of people who may never have gotten the chance to shine. Overcoming his own addiction 20 years ago, Dr. Giles uses storytelling to describe his own experiences and how he works with others through addiction. Dr. Giles says we need to change the language around addiction from being a “disease” to a “habit” because you can fight the addiction by replacing the habit. Though he understands this seems like a simplistic approach, he has 15 years experience in working in this field with a substantial background in medicine prior to specializing in addiction. Leanne Butterworth teaches empathy to the masses and reaches others through podcasting. She teaches people how to feel empathy and to be compassionate. She said that being sad sucks and is normal. She says understanding first and recognizing the feelings, then responding appropriately is what we need to do moving forward for a thriving humanity. Dismissing others often happens when we think we’re helping, so Leanne helps others to recognize this so they don’t ruin their relationships. Lose Your Mind - Find Your Heart - she said she wants to avoid “intellectualizing” people’s feelings and teach others how to sit with their feelings instead. We need to ask others what they need, rather than us pushing our own agenda on them. She says you need self-care and setting boundaries is a part of that. Mike was an aspiring NHL hockey player. Living his dream in the OHL, his debilitating injuries led him to 6 different surgeries in just two short years as a young adult male. While constantly being prescribed pain medication to numb the pain so he could “push through” the pain and focus on living his dream. Percocet was one of the main prescription drugs he relied upon, which was readily available, and drove him to an addiction. At his lowest point, he felt isolated, was deceptive and was overwhelmed with a tremendous loss of control. Though he was constantly in physical and emotional pain, he carried on but was alone in the pressure of making it to the NHL and living away from his parents.
In hindsight, he wishes he would have listened to his body and allowed it to take the proper time and care to heal. He realizes that this was a big life lesson and now serves as a role model for young kids who play hockey. He aims to help young boys avoid the “tough guy mentality” by talking about the struggles they have and to seek out those who will love and support them as it is virtually impossible to do alone. He says he doesn’t know if he would be alive today if he didn’t allow others to help him seek treatment.
Now 25 years old, Mike is a hockey scout and coach with a stable life and healthy mindset. He says, “hockey should be a game you love”; as soon as you stop having fun, that’s when you know you’re going down the wrong road. He offers guidance to his young players and discusses the resources that are available in the community for those who are struggling with addiction and mental health. He makes a point to stay after practice and keep an open door for them.

As a scientist who experienced a near death experience (NDE), Dr. Eben Alexander says, “to me as a neuroscientist, I came to realize, especially after my coma, what an incredible trick of smoke and mirrors it is that people believe that the brain creates consciousness and the material works is all that exists.” His book, “Proof of Heaven” describes his fascinating journey into the “afterlife”, and his message will vindicate those who need it the most.
Dr. Alexander expands upon this idea in this interview and demonstrates how scientific evidence supports healing through meditation. With a special use of sound (sacredacoustics.com)one can tap into the self, not the “ego self”, but the deep self that can transform the “soul”.
Charle asks if one who is “bad” can become “good?” and both Karen and Eben wholeheartedly agree that YES each person is capable of transformation, even psychopaths, because through deep meditation, one can transcend beyond the physical parts of the brain to experience consciousness that is not brain based at all.
With empirical data to back up approaches like heart math and spiritual healing in a way that Western medicine cannot perfect, nor explain, there is hope for people who have experienced trauma, disease, and damage to the body and brain. This is not a pseudo-scientific approach; there is anecdotal evidence of using meditation and mindfulness as part of the treatment plan for both physical and mental health with sound evidence-based practice such as the placebo effect.
Collectively, we can strengthen humanity if we experience self-love that we can then radiate to others for connection. Ultimately, this brings all of us hope, even as we experience a threat of COVID-19. Perhaps we can use the time we have in isolation to meditate, show gratitude, do self-reflection and experience self-love to change the course of humanity which can advance us into a better, more thriving species.
