Part Two of Episode 16 airs today! Listen in on this important conversation from movement strategist, Tamika D. Mallory regarding DEI and how you can create positive change in the world. Change starts with us!
This week, join us as we speak with Social Justice Leader and Movement Strategist, Tamika D. Mallory as we focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion education for executives and community leaders, aiming to reach many more supporters and future advocates of a shared mission to continue this important conversation.
It’s important to note that we recorded the conversation with Tamika before the Derek Chauvin verdict was announced. While the verdict is being hailed by many as a move forward for humanity, we see it as a glimpse of hope; however, we also understand there is still work to be done.
As a community, we understand the importance of diversity in creating change. We want to not only be a part of the conversation, but we want to find ways as a community to work toward change. Educating executives and community leaders is a critical component in changing the face of future boardrooms.
Dynamic transformational influencer, leader, speaker, and career catalyst, Stacey Lewis joins us once again for the second part of this important conversation. Stacey continues the conversation and shares steps we can all take to create diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging in the workplace.
Dynamic transformational influencer, leader, speaker, and career catalyst, Stacey Lewis joins us this week. She shares insight from her 35 years in the HR game. She shows us the steps we can all take to create diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging in the workplace.
We continue part two of this very important conversation with Michael Brown. In part two, we focus the conversation on how to move forward and how we can, as a society, learn to acknowledge without minimizing a situation. What is he teaching his sons? What should we be teaching our children? As business owners what can we do? What example can we set? These are just a few of the questions we can ask ourselves in order to be part of the change to move forward.
We will be talking with Michael Brown the Managing Director at a global investment bank about the profiling experience that happened to him more than 20 years ago while crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel. The father of three sons will discuss why he is talking about it now and tell us what it felt like when that happened to him as a young bond trader and Vice President heading from New Jersey to Virginia for Mother’s Day.
The director of the mental health program at CHKD, Stephanie Osler will join the ladies to give 5 tips to help your children cope with all that is going on in our country right now. She will discuss the increase in patient referrals that they are seeing and how CHKD is trying to meet the need. Disparity in treatment for mental health for African Americans. Suicide use to not be an issue for African American community now the numbers are skyrocketing. Is racism having a traumatic impact on our children? What can we do as parents to help? They say it takes a village to raise a child, so what can we do as a community?
2020 left us with questions. It also ignited passion to make an impact. Do you go along to get along or do you stand up for what is right? What can we do as a community to say this is wrong and we won’t stand for it anymore. How do we make things better? How do we break generational curses? How do we fix the situation, not just for the one offended, but for the family and the generation?
Many things can erode trust, so how can you go about rebuilding it? We need to open our minds to rebuild the trust. We’re all in this together and it’s going to take all of us doing our part... listening and truly hearing what others have to say. Taking the time to see the other person’s point of view. What are you doing to help rebuild the trust?
This was a difficult year for most of us for many reasons. As we head into the holiday season we look back at some of the highs and lows that we faced personally and as a nation. What lessons did we learn? What changes should we make? Why? and how can we make those changes?
Do you go along to get along or do you stand up for what you believe in? The ladies will talk about how what was supposed to be a nice dinner with a distinguished group in an historical location actually turned into an awkward event for some of the members. They’ll discuss why it was uncomfortable and why most of the group didn’t even realize it. History matters, but you need to make sure you are telling the whole story because not everyone is impacted by it the same way. We all benefit when we start in a place of compassion and less judgement
Who are you grooming for tomorrow? Angela talks about what happened to her children, how she dealt with it, how the school dealt with it and what we can all learn from this experience. Until we are willing to talk about it, how can we help? We need to listen with empathetic ears and act accordingly… and hopefully, “When you know better you do better".
We all want to leave the world a better place for the next generation . . . So in a time of turmoil in our country what can we do to make sure our voice is helping instead of hurting? Dr. Angela shares: “ I want my children to know that nothing good comes easy and anything good is worth fighting for.” Actions that help move us forward to a place where we can better understand, accept and nurture each other's differences is what the Vine Experience is all about. The conversation continues . . . grab hold of the vine and join us on our journey!
There’s a leader inside of each of us. In this episode, The Vine Experience looks at how to discover that leader not only in ourselves but in others as well. Susan shares “it’s okay to change it’s okay to learn something and shift your mindset it’s part of becoming a leader.” We all have our own unique paths or vines to follow… in the process of that growth we need to find a way to make our differences a place to grow from and not a place that tears us apart. Join us and see where the conversation leads us on our journey!
