In July, 2020 the city of Charlotte teamed up with "Charlotte is Creative" to fund a massive Black Live's Matter mural in the heart of Uptown. 17 local artists were chosen to participate in the project, which shut down a portion of Tryon Street over the past several months in celebration. In November, Charlotte City Council voted to reopen Tryon Street to roadway traffic.

When Amazon Prime launched in 2005, Walmart boasted larger profits than Amazon had revenue. Fifteen years later, Prime is now the key reason for Amazon’s dominance over Walmart in online sales. That pressure has pushed the traditional retailer to fight back.
