Well, we did it. Find a new, groundbreaking format? Nope. Have a President on the podcast? Nope. Discover how to travel back in time? Nope. Instead, we recorded an hour long episode and promptly deleted it. So, instead, we’re going with the blog format this round. Naturally, Parker was too lazy to help, so I “ghost wrote” his parts for him. What a bum. Here is a quick snap shot of what you would have heard, if, ya know, we weren’t so dang dumb.
Obviously, we started off with a clip of President Obama trying to pronounce Giannis Antetokounmpo, the (mildly complicated) name of an NBA basketball player. Jason Kidd once said Antetokounmpo would be crazy popular if his name was just easier to pronounce. With that in mind, watch the clip. It’s hilarious. Enjoy -

We literally played this about 40 times and Parker laughed uncontrollably for 5 minutes. Sorry you missed it. True comedy gold.
Podcasts
Once Parker finally quit laughing, we took some time to recommend our favorite podcasts. The rough “transcript” below is what I had said and me writing not what Parker did say, but what Parker should say if he was honest. Parker decided that doing this would be too much effort, so… it’s all me.
Eric: I’m very much into anything by Gimlet Media right now, but tops from them would probably be Reply All. Engaging and humorous, with a cool tech vibe. And I have to throw out Homecoming, their first scripted podcast. Just started, very early radio drama-ish. It even has David Schwimmer and Oscar Isaac in it!
Parker: I like podcasts with lumberjacks in them. Not real lumberjacks, but guys who set off into the domesticated wild after getting a few degrees and find a nice (prebuilt) wood house and grow a beard and talk about reading books with main characters who do build wood houses. If you find a good hipster lumberjack podcast, I already heard it and it’s not good anymore.
Manager of the year
As baseball fans, we couldn’t pass up a chance to discuss the winners of the MLB Manager of the year (MOTY). Parker and I traded off going pro and anti the two winners. Again, below is what I said and my mildly skewed version of what Parker said.
Pro Terry Francona winning the AL MOTY (Parker)
Terry is great. I love Terry. When I go to sleep at night, the great Tito and his lineup with Carlos Santana leading off grace my dreams. Hopefully the Cardinals try to steal him away.
Anti Terry Francona (Eric)
Honestly, even I can’t come up with a manager in the American League who did better this year. A stud. Heck, his managing (and Andrew Miller) had me rooting for the Indians in the World Series! But as a Yankees fan, I’m contractually obligated to hate Tito for all that he did during his time as the Red Sox manager. So I’ll instead bring up the fact that he may smell like old, moldy cheese and that if a jaguar chased him, it could totally catch him, so that must mean he’s a failure.
Pro Dave Roberts winning the NL MOTY (Eric)
28 players. Dave Roberts, a first time manager, led the Dodgers to the playoffs and one out away from the World Series while having the most players on the Disabled List in a season in 30 years (see that 28 number above). His brilliant command of the bullpen should be noticed too - 606 pitching changes, leading to an MLB second best bullpen ERA and an MLB second best 46 comeback victories. Unreal. Sorry Joe Maddon, but Dave had the way more adversity and very nearly beat you in the playoffs.
Anti Dave Roberts (Parker)
If you don’t think that Roberts should have won, chances are you think the Cubs’ Joe Maddon should have. I love the Cardinals, so it should be obvious that I can't stand Maddon. He couldn't manage his way out of a onezy if the zipper had a flashing light attached to it. That’s probably why he let the Cubs have so many “wear a onezy” outings. Have I mentioned how much I love the Cardinals yet? Of course, we need to fire Matheny. This is where I can talk about that right? He cost us the wild card. And the season. And probably every World Series since I was born for some reason or another. Sorry for rambling on. By the way, did you know I love the Cardinals?
