Don't adjust your screen.....this is actually happening. A brand new episode of The Autopsy Podcast. We would say we are back from the dead but let's just call it an extended break. Today we break our silence by tackling one of the biggest film disasters of the 70's, The Exorcist 2: The Heretic which follows that one film....you know, the one they call the scariest of all time? Nothing could go wrong here eh?
As usual, in addition to tackling our standard bad movie, we also discuss all the films in the franchise, including the masterpiece of the original, the underrated and underviewed Part III (or Legion for purists), and then we talked about the most recent prequel which has two different versions because studio executives are dumb.
So grab your popcorn, your holy water, a bowl of pea soup and join us for a trip back to a time where the fashions were gaudy, the decor was wood paneling, and disco was all the rage...

For a podcast that's dedicated mostly to discussing bad movies, occasionally there can be an abundance of films to choose from. Sometimes an exorbitant amount of these bad films happen to be released at the same time - an industry wide perfect storm of lazy, uninspired, mechanical horror filmmaking. And when that happens, we have no choice but take that entire calendar year under the knife…..and that's what we have done.
Episode 10 marks a milestone for us. Yes, we've hit double digits. That's about double the episodes we originally thought we'd even get to. For this special number, we went back to a time period that's been quite familiar to us over the past 9 shows: the 80's.
Specifically, the end of an era of big hair, Republican presidents and slasher films - the Waterloo of horror movies so to speak: 1989.
This episode was mostly free flowing as we bounced back and forth on some notable bad releases from that year. We dedicated some extra time to discuss the direct-to-video camp du jour Sleepaway Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland, which pretty much epitomizes the year in horror movies.
Our middle segment focused entirely on the big three franchises bad movies of that year: Halloween 5, A Nightmare On Elm Street 5, and Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes a Boat - not only because they're the big three but also because they all suffered from pretty much the same mistakes (but mostly because they sucked).
And then our last segment rounded out our free flowing discussion with a couple of movies we actually enjoyed watching and a few thoughts on the purgatory of horror that would follow 1989 (the early 90's).

The bodycount continues…..in the second part of our Women In Horror discussion. This time we transition to discussing some pretty common horror tropes and then our main discussion takes on one of the main cornerstones of all horror cinema: the final girl. All the classics are discussed: Laurie Strode, Nancy Thompson, Ellen Ripley, Sidney Prescott, as well as some strong female performances over the years that have flown under the radar. Sam & Thomas are once again joined by our special in studio guest Corina, and hopefully it isn't the last time.
In the mean time, pull up a chair and have a seat at the discussion as we explore some of the baddest female characters in horror cinema.

Its 2014 and we are back! In our first show of the new year, we break new ground again, this time taking a look at the very important topic of women in horror films. For the first time ever, we had a special guest in studio with us to add a female perspective. The voice of the Autopsy Podcast herself, in our podcast theme music and segment intros, Corina was kind enough to sit down with us and add another voice to this all-important conversation.
This originally was one large episode, but we had a lively discussion so it was deemed necessary after the fact to split this topic into two episodes. In this first part, we take a look at women in horror through the decades - all the way from Hitchcock's 1954 classic Rear Window, thru the torture-themed movies and remakes of the 2000's.
Part 2 will cover common horror tropes as well as final girls, and an interview with a special guest. Look for that to be released in the next week or two.

Merry Axemas to everyone out there. We apologize about the delay in releasing our newest episode but the holiday crunch got us. This time we decided to take a fresh approach, so instead of a film franchise we picked out one of the most notorious horror directors of all time - Wes Craven - and a highlight of the good, the bad, and the ugly of his career. But you know us, we stuck primarily with the bad.
We start off with 1986's horribly aged "Deadly Friend" which stars Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a role that she's likely to forget (and not acknowledge) about a robot who's sensitive microchip ultimately progresses this film into bad movie territory.
We then moved onto our main segment dealing with Shocker - no not the sex move, but the film about a convicted killer who can't be stopped by thousands of volts of electricity. Sounds like an enticing premise? Yeah, that's just what we all thought till you actually watched the movie and were overwhelmed with bad 80's CGI and countless callbacks to A Nightmare on Elm Street which just so happened to be directed by…
Then we moved onto modern day, which we tackled a couple of painful films marketed for a Gen Y generation, starting with Cursed which lazily throws a couple of talented actors in front of the screen to let them do battle with bad CGI and a werewolf who decides to flip off the camera, and then My Soul To Take, which happens to….do nothing interesting at all.
So grab your freshly ordered Freddy-sweater and whatever holiday-themed beverage you may have handy - eggnog, mead, whiskey - and saddle up for another episode of The Autopsy Podcast and its takedown of Wes Craven's worst of the worst. No more mister Nice Podcast….

Will it be a trick or treat?
Right in the thick of that scaretastic time of year, the Autopsy Podcast
brings you its first ever bonus episode. We threw our regular formula
out the window on this one, and decided to do a more informal, off-the cuff
episode in which we tackled a plethora of different movies.
And the biggest shocker of theme all….we actually have a segment full of
positive remarks. Do not adjust your screens….you read that right.
To start off, we tackled the contentious topic of the horror remake, a phenomenon
that has become all too common for horror fans. We discussed them in general
and then took a look at the good, bad, and pointless remakes that have been thrown
our way over the years.
Then we switched gears.
We've spent a fair amount of time on this podcast's brief history discussing
movies of the 70's, 80's, and 90's, so we wanted to mix it up - we sat down for a
segment fully dedicated to our personal favorite horror movies that were all released
post-2000. That's right. We were positive for a change…some 71 minutes of
positivity too - don't worry, we won't make a habit of it.
So bust out your candy corn and your favorite bottle of booze and take a seat
at the table with us for our first annual Halloween episode. Its a Thriller…

The end is nigh….and we're here to guide you through Episode 5, in which one more trip to Crystal Lake
is to be had, where we follow our anti-hero Mr. Voorhees through his machete-wielding misadventures.
In Episodes 3 & 4 of The Autopsy Podcast, we tackled the Paramount-owned portion of the Friday the 13th franchise,
Parts 1-8. And now it is time to switch gears and plunge into the New Line Cinema era, and we see how the "house that
Freddy built" has handled our much beloved machete man.
This one starts off immediately with our main segment, in which New Line kicks off their Jason-era by hardly putting
him in the movie at all and pissing on 8 films of mythology. While recapping the action, Thomas' notes reveal the point
in which he became inebriated while watching this film, but the guys are still able to dissect this strange fish-out-of-water
film that includes nods to The Evil Dead and Jaws, while maintaining good business sense with hockey mask burgers.
Then its off to the proverbial cellar for horror franchises, as Jason follows Leprachuan, Critters, and Pinhead into space,
where the franchise that has been consistently shameless about ripping off better movies, decides to go full-on Ridley Scott.
We then make a detour to Springwood, Ohio - so Freddy and Jason can do battle in the equivalent of a cinematic video
game, and then our final stop on this long and arduous Friday the 13th journey is in the Michael Bay prison of horror
hell…..the Platinum Dunes-produced remake.
So grab your sunblock, because we're going to hell….and this third and final trip to Crystal Lake will push our total
Friday the 13th talking time over 3 episodes to approximately 8 hours, 17 minutes, and 20 seconds. That's a lot of booze,
machetes, breasts, blood, nose candy, thrown cats, 80's hair, cashgrabs, and bodies thrown through windows.

The body count continues…..in cyberspace, as The Autopsy Podcast
sharpens its knives and takes apart another Friday the 13th film, this time
tackling one of the biggest bait-and-switches in horror history.
In our previous episode, we had stated we would be tackling this franchise
in two parts but alas, you can't keep a good Voorhees down, so we decided to
turn our double feature into a trilogy. So, Episode 4 will be the SECOND of a
three part look at the blood-soaked, drug-infused, chest-baring Friday the 13th
universe.
We start this one off with the film that tried desperately through marketing
to make people forget the previous film ever existed (Jason Lives!!….like seriously,
we're sorry for Part 5), and then we watch the inaugural bout of MTV Celebrity
Deathmatch as a torn and tattered, newly Kane Hodderized Jason Voorhees
goes up against a newly blonde Carrie (sorry gingers).
Then its off to New York….err a Vancouver soundstage….err, actually, a freighter
ship for most of the movie, where we meet some very Saved By the Bell-ish
characters, an out of place fat kid, Joan Jett, and the very teleport-savvy Jason
Voorhees, who decides to climb aboard this ship and leave Crystal Lake after
all these years for……who the fuck knows.
So its time to put a nail in the 1980's coffin for this franchise and we're going out
in high style…..so grab your…….ehh, actually don't worry about bringing anything
for this one (except booze), because Jason won't bother killing anyone from New York
anyway unless you're raping someone. It's too bad the Toxic Avenger didn't show up
at the end of this one….1989 here we come...

If the memory of the 1980's still haunts you…..you are not alone. As summer
gives way to fall, it's time to take a trip back to Camp Blood, where intellectually
stimulating, artful horror films go to die.
The first of a multi-episode arc, The Autopsy Podcast will be dissecting the
infamously sans-Jason entry of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. But first,
Thomas and Sam will tackle the first four entries of Cashgrab the 13th - which happens
to be during the Golden Age of the Slasher film - and we get to take a look at some
Betsy Palmer overacting, The Town that Dreaded Sundown mask ripoff, some awesomely
bad disco theme music, and Crispin Glover's Dancing With the Stars submission tape.
Then it'll be time to tackle the cocainetastic Friday the 13th Part V, in which a paramedic named
Roy seeks revenge for the murder of his son…..by killing everyone in sight except the guy who
actually murdered his son. Along the way we get some awesome new wave, some of the
greatest scenes of dialogue known to film, some Rob Zombie-esque hillbilly chatter, and
Juwanna Mann even rocks the house.
Spoilers will be had like non-virgins dying at Crystal Lake….so grab your eyeliner
…..a tent…..and a dollar bill, because we're going to a galaxy far far away, where the picture
was grainy, the clothes were usually off, and goalies were pissed: 1985.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into podcasting…..comes Episode 2
of The Autopsy Podcast. Smack dab in the fever pitch of shark week, we're discussing
one of the most notorious film failures of all-time, Jaws 4: The Revenge.
To start, Thomas and Sam take a trip back to Amity Island to discuss a genuine masterpiece
of a film, and a standard sequel cash-in, before taking a brief detour to Sea World (where
apparently the ocean connects to Orlando). Then it is full steam ahead to the main segment,
where we discuss a film who's plot includes a revenge-minded shark who stalks the ever-shrinking
Brody-clan from New England to the Bahamas (no, this isn't a Sharknado prequel).
After the main segment, the guys briefly discuss the inevitable remake/sequel topic, as well
as render an official Cause of Death for this flailing roaring-shark of a movie.
As usual, spoiler warning ahead - so grab your beach towel…. your sunscreen…..3D glasses
….ibuprofen….and booze…..because we're bashing this movie harder than Quint and that radio.

Here it is folks…Episode 1 of The Autopsy Podcast (cue Also Sprach Zarathustra). Thomas and Sam
take the plunge into Haddonfield to discuss all things Michael Myers. After a brief statement of
principles, the discussion begins with a recap analysis of the series starting with John Carpenter’s
original film all the way through Dominique Othenin-Girard’s masterpiece of Halloween 5 (seriously).
Which will lead up to the main segment…..the internal examination of Halloween 6: The Curse of
Michael Myers, and exploring just what wrong in this wacky universe of Druidic cults, recurring
constellations, and Paul Rudd monologues. After a lively discussion, the guys explore where the series
went after that (Trick or Treat MF’ers), including a couple of films made by a musician named Robert
Cummings. The show closes out with our official rendering of the Cause of Death for Halloween 6,
which may or not be a surprise for you.
So spoilers beware: grab your flannel shirt and your popcorn, because we’re going back to 1995 for a while.
3 hours of Michael Myers and little Lindsey Wallace won’t know what hit her.
