Ronald Reagan is scheduled to be toasted at the Friar's Club and George is scheduled to give one of the speeches. Gracie decides he needs some help with the background information.
Despite George's instructions, Gracie and Blanche secretly go to the actor's home to interview him about his early life and career in a very funny sequence.
Later, when Reagan stops in at the Burns household, he and Bill Goodwin get into a contest over which of them has the best line to meet women -- and they test them out on Gracie!

Barbara Newell is a woman who marries for money, but when she meets Alex Maynard at a party, she decides almost instantly that it is love that she wants most.
As the episode opens, Barbara runs into Fred Dexter, an old boyfriend that she hasn't seen in six years. That was when Barbara dumped him in order to marry someone with money. Now Fred wants to rekindle their relationship, but Barbara still has no feelings for him.
When Alex expresses his love for Barbara, she knows that she must take matters into her own hands. Her husband must die, and she knows just who to frame for his murder: Fred Dexter.
