My set at Vihod on a Halloween night - sweaty dark dancefloor and unfamiliar audience, which had me on edge at first, but then brought the heat.
Sometimes we need to be alone with ourselves. Music is the perfect guide into that state. This compilation brings together different genres and cultural backgrounds - a kind of emotional roller coaster. And you never know where the next turn will take you. Tested on a sunny November day by the lake.
Cosmic Picnic, August 16th, Saturday, early morning, in a small yurt at the Shalkode valley near the Kazakh-Chinese border, 20 people are lying on pillows all around, some of them are talking and laughing, some in silent disco headphones enjoying the music, some are dancing, some just lying with their eyes closed.Tracklist:1. @louisbaker - Keep on (@lodemann Vocal Mix)2. Recorded during an expedition to the Caspian sea and Mangystau region while sitting on a rock at the beach. 6 days and 5 nights moving around the region discovering epic places and sites.
Every six months or so, I mix tracks from my daily chillout playlist, which consists of many music genres. There is one thing that unites these tracks - bliss. Imagine yourself in a good place and get your daily portion of bliss.
4 years since i recorded the last Cosmic Picnic mix, time to kick some ass again, only this time it is a selection of groovy & deep techno. Don't mind the repeated tracks )
There are some tracks that i save up for a special occasion like this, tracks which i would not play on the main dancefloor except for the afterhours morning set or a gig somewhere in the wild. And if i would dance to this music i would definitely do it with my eyes closed.
One fine October weekend we got out to the lake to close the camping season. I took some silent disco headphones with me so my friends could enjoy music wherever they wanted to, we put my dj equipment on the beach and had a great time dancing and enjoying the nature around us. Music-wise the set got very eclectic, and so was the weather. One of the best experiences in months.
Love my friends who let me do experiments. Been testing 5 hours of new music with them last week, which eventually came up just to 120 minutes of the selection you are about to hear, a music rollercoaster.
Was warming up the atmosphere by the pool last saturday. Despite a small rain in the beginning the weather was great and mostly sunny. Unpacked some tracks which i didn't play for quite a long time, it was a pleasure doing it.
Had fun at the Sunchill festival camp right after my gig on the main dancefloor, brought controller and some silent disco headphones for my friends. Chilled downtempo grooves and then a bit of atmospheric electro, perfect before getting a nap.
Music can heal. Tried it myself many times. There is a secret playlist of mine where i collect tracks that had a therapeutic effect on me. I took some of them and recorded a mix a year ago (Lazy Grooves Vol.16 Here Pop-up restaurant edition). It's time to record another one - different genres, different emotions. There is an unreleased track by me and my friend Oleg on 19th minute called Velvet Gamma, planning to release it this year.
Took a small mixing console from a friend and recorded a short mix by the pool in the middle of the jungle. Pure summer vibes in the middle of January here in Sri Lanka.
Had a great time playing drum & bass at Kicksnare party at Bult, which happens quite rarely. Lovely place, lovely people.
A mix recorded with perfect set & settings in one of the most amazing places - Shalkode valley, just 15 km from kazakh-chinese border. The weather provided us full spectrum of emotions (sun, fog, heavy rain), so did the music, it took us many places.
After a full day open air party on a ski resort we moved to a big and cozy chalet to continue our musical journey. I have played 2 sets, one in the beginning and the second one in the morning for those who survived. Stumbled onto one forgotten folder that i kept for moments like this.
Back with a portion of afterhours house music. I hope people still listen to these genres.
With this mix I'm officially starting my residency on IZI Radio Tech-khana within IZI Mix show where many kazakhstani djs share their music on a daily basis. Radio is available in IZI mobile application (Android, ios) and via web site www.izi.meAll of the mixes will be uploaded into the application first and only then i will be putting them here (2 weeks later).
Our yearly tradition to visit mountains near a small city of Tekeli turned out into dj set which was recorded on the top of the hill (on this pic). We witnessed a beautiful sunset and magical moonrise within 2 hours of time.
Part of the gig that i played at Kumano Bar - first hour it was strictly tracks that i haven't played before, afterwards there were some classics which i didn't want to record. DNB scene is quite small here in Almaty though people were really enjoying the sound. Should play more of this.
Did not record my set at the last Cosmic Picnic on September 3rd, so had to re-record it a week later due to requests, but did it with slight changes - the second hour is a bit more experimental then during the original gig, those tracks could've make people flee the dancefloor and i couldn't let this happen due to very cold night, had to keep them dancing.
Prepared those tracks for a special 3 evening gig at "Here Pop-Up Restaurant" near the the lake last weekend. Decided to record some of them into special edition of Lazy Grooves. Perfect for chilling out on warm summer nights. Enjoy.
Back with a 3,5 hour selection of strictly dance music, a mixture of different house music subgenres seemlessly changing one another. It took me 6 months to get myself to record another Train Station podacst due to many facts, glad i did it. Big respect to the ones who make it to the end of the mix in one go!
It took me 3 months to record a new mix. Should have kept the slow groove till the end but couldn't resist the will to speed up, so now it's sort of a mixture of Lazy Grooves and Train Station concepts in one mix.
Curfew ain't over yet. Not being able to go out in the evening makes me spending more time listening to music. This 3 hour mix took me places, hope it will have same effect on you.
First days of 2022 put us into anxiety and stress, riots and anarchy in my hometown of Almaty, no internet or any news source, flu - all these things reflected in this first podcast of the year. Hopefully next ones will be more positive...
Pure afterhours music. Planned as a 2 hour light music mix but eventually came to spinning music for 3 hours for dozens of people via live stream on my mixcloud page.
Another liquid dnb podcast, after a 1 year break ) inspired by the last dnb party at Bult. it was amazing, need to play it more often.
My live set at Vecherinka party at Persona night club on october 16th 2021. Was amazing!
A bit of everything - melodic progressive, a bit of so called organic and classic deep house.
I celebrate 1 year of my show on Proton with this episode, a mixture of groovy deep & progressive house
A mix that i've recorded back in 2003 for ZIP Magazine, it was released as CD, full of progressive house and breaks classics. That year Mars got very close to Earth, i guess i was influenced by that somehow ) Decided to save it here because many people have been asking for it.
It took me a while to come back with another Lazy Grooves episode. This one is a bit deeper then usual - less fun, less eastern melodies, more melancholic, appropriate to the weather outside Saying goodbye to summer and hello to the upcoming autumn.
Had a big break in playing proper prog, mostly downtempo & ethnic grooves which i'm currently a bit sick of, so here you go.
It was a wonderful small festival with wonderful people in a wonderful place. So blessed to have played there.
Did a laid back stream a month ago with some mellow organic house tunes and melodic prog
The episode which i forgot to upload due to hustle with the Cosmic Picnic event we had last weekend. Couldn't play lots of new stuff due to my laptop crash, got only several folders on flashcard...a dj's nightmare
Did a sunday evening stream after a long break, been busy preparing Cosmic Picnic event outside of the city, the previous one was in september . Hopefully it will go well and i will manage to play these tracks there, really looking forward. This mix stands out from most of the recently recorded podcasts, hope you'll enjoy it as i did while recording. Any feedback is appreciated, stay safe.
April episode with some very fresh tunes from all over the world, a mixture of music genres including instrumental tune, some breaks, deep & progressive house.
It is strange that i forgot to upload the first episode from this series, the concept that i started a couple of years ago - preparties with slow music and same podcasts. Inaccuracy fixed.
After refitting my homestudio on a calm monday evening (march 22nd) i decided to make a Nauryz (equinox) holiday stream for friends on my mixcloud page. We now celebrate the ending of winter and happy that spring and warmth are coming at last. Absolute chill and tranquility poured out to what you are about to hear, light melodic house favourites with an interesting ending.
In this episode i selected strictly dance floor tracks, the ones that i would have played in a night club, energetic, driving and deep.
This is the second try of recording the episode, previous time i was feeling sick and didn't like the result, it took me almost 3 weeks to recover and collect some more music. That is also the first mix recorded on my new gear and software, i have switched from Serato to Rekordbox and changed my equipment to a better one. Still getting used to it, that is why i didn't realize how long i was playing, it occured that 2,5 hours which is a bit less than i usually do. Anyway hope that you'll enjoy this selection.
Recorded it on my last weekend on Bali at a friends place before departure, people from Almaty having a good time, poolside music, things can get better. Deep and groovy.
A set that i have been preparing and playing at the party from Odyssey crew on one of the Gili islands wasn't recorded due to technical reasons, so i just went to my hotel room after the party and recorded a slightly different and fuller version of it. Great place, great people, great memories.
Bursting into 2021 with a fresh episode #6 of Cosmic Picnic on @proton Radio with fresh grooves from a list of great producers and music labels:
Number 20 is here, a warm goodbye to the 2020 that changed our lives. One month since we moved to Bali, missed playing music, missed my friends and decided to make a spontaneous stream on mixcloud just for friends which are currently scattered around the world. 4 hours of fresh tunes and fun in chat, lot's of style and mood transitions throughout the mix, almost every genre that i love, though looks quite solid to me. Enjoy! p.s. please like, repost and comment so more people could hear this music via "the upload", thanks!
Laid-back breaks from the bottom of my music collection, a music that i usually play at the end of my sets. Saying goodbye and thank you to this strange year and hello to 2021!
Some tracks that i've missed, lost somewhere in folders and didn't play through the year mixed in a 3 hour compilation. From downtempo to progressive house, from melody to deeper grooves, reflecting changes of my mood this crazy 2020.
Don't be fooled by the beginning of the mix, further it goes harder it gets. I think it's because i miss clubs a lot, like tonight,
I've played quite a lot recently but only a couple of times i've recorded a set and among those only this has quite solid and consistent playlist. Deep and melancholic sounds, even sometimes depressive. One of my constant listeners call it "couch music", so take your headphones and make yourself comfortable...
In the 3rd episode we dive into intelligent sounds of classic progressive house - mellow bass, deep groove and pleasant melodies.
We have a tradition going to a small ski resort every fall, 300 km away to spend a weekend without heating, water and electricity in a house full of sleepy flies. What's the pleasure you ask -beautiful nature, stunning views from the nearby mountain and the most delicious manty i've ever tasted. It's where i've recorded this mix, sitting on a mountain in a chair with a notebook, controller and a speaker, playing music for friends and kids. This way i could play for at least 2 hours just using batteries, it's what i'll do next year. For now it's just 60 minutes. Enjoy.
Second episode of my show on Proton Radio, mainly so called organic house, but i keep calling it deep house as i'm used to. Next episode will be aired on Proton on October 26th at 8 am EST (1 pm UK).
We've decided to make an afterparty at Andric a week after we dropped a Coscmic Picnic festival in a secret location in red mountains for a limited number of people. I've been preparing an afterhours set for this event (picnic) which i actually didn't play so i've decided to play these tunes a week after at Andric. First half of the set indeed sounds quite "organic" and laid-back but people who attended an afterparty started dancing and made me switch to groovy stuff. So here it is...
Glad to be invited by B-Max to record a guest mix for his show on DI.FM, one of my favourite music labels Incepto Music.
Hurray! Starting from August 24th i've joined Proton Radio with a monthly show Cosmic Picnic which is aired every 4th Monday of the month from 8am-9am ET (1pm-2pm UK).
"Even in the most distant places of the world there are people who are passionate about music and always dream. Join a musical experience from the heart of Eurasia, where vast nomadic steppes meet high mountain ranges of Tien Shan, an experience called Cosmic Picnic."

A mixture of house sub-genres combined into one, sometimes groovy, sometimes deep, sometimes funky. Created for dancefloor.
We have cancelled our annual Cosmic Picnic event due to pandemic, though i decided to make a stream last sunday to play tracks that could have been played on the dancefloor this time. Here is the result - 5 hour mix, first 60 minutes sound a bit light and melancholic but then things get harder, the ending is traditionally light and deep as if i would play till afterhours. Not sure about the result, check yourself. Stay safe!
One two, one two...recorded a test mix while streaming live on my mixcloud page (their new feature!), was fun - almost no lags, no blockings, everything works pretty well. Subscribe for more music!
www.mixcloud.com/cosmicpicnic
One of the latest srteams i've participated in turned out into this 3 hour set. Deep and soft at the beginning it transforms into darker mood.
Another guest mix for Proton Radio aired on May 6th 2020, a compilation of favorite tunes since previous guest mix in March.
Can you send a man into space without special training? I tried to figure out last night.
Participated in 2 streams this weekend on Boomroom radio with fellow djs, played 1 hour each time but did not record it properly, decided to re-record those track in one mix. So it goes...
The next day when i woke up the online marathon was still on air and i was proposed to play another set, so here it is - another 3 hours of my favourite dnb tunes.
Had 1,5 hours of time on air though prepared a big selection of all time favourites, wanted to play them all but only half of them got into this 3 hour mix. Will have to make another 3 hours )
My re-recorded live for Boomroom.kz for #stayathomedjsession. Didn't like the original 2,5 hours live and decided to record a new one with almost same tracklist. Take care of yourself.
My first mix recorded during quarantine, on march 22nd, a holiday of Nauryz, local new year. I got into music so much that i wanted to play all night long but stoped myself when i got to 4 hours. Hopefully you'll be able to listen to this mix as a whole. Have a good time.
Another episode of strictly proggy podcast with some classic (don't be confused by the first track)& fresh tunes recorded this march on a one lonely night
Afterhours music which i rearly dare to play on the dancefloor, first half is more melancholic and other is dark.
Here's how the dancefloor should sound. Was testing streaming from home, this time via youtube - got the same rights violation issues as on fb, this sucks. At least soundcloud stopped blocking podcasts. P.s. just noticed that played one track twice )
This time i decided to speed up a bit earlier, so the grooves are not that lazy ) At the end when i got a bit drunk and atmosphere at the bar changed i decided to play some tracks from the beginning of this gig, don't mind that.
This is a 4 hour cut from 7h 30m set played a week ago at a small new venue. I'm still trying to understand what kind of sound suits better, this time the selection looks more solid, though a bit dark at the beginning. People were dancing like crazy. Sorry, forgot to fade in the end )
A gig that i played at Circle Bar on august 2nd 2019. That was a strange selection, was experimenting and changing styles constantly, searching for a proper sound.
Chilling & grooving. No time for Lazy Groove parties, at least putting out some music...
Soundcloud is currently blocked in my country, uploading mixes during my business trips abroad.
This would be my dj set if i had a place to play...
Music within. Music from the heart. Music from our friend Embliss. Music that will sound on this years Cosmic Picnic, here in our mountains.
The music that i wanted to but didn't play on my NY gig along with some new tunes of 2018.
A first one from series of mixes recorded in certain keynote. Each compilation reflects one mood, one harmony.
It took me several months to get back to intelligent drum&bass. After restarting Elevation parties at the altitude of 3200 meters above at the self-titled bar we relighted passion to this music genre. It doesn't allow us to freeze or get bored even if it's really really cold. I congratulate all riders with the starting of the season!
Despite the lack of proper audience last saturday at Barmaglot Bar it was pretty nice to play this music for my close friends who occupied all surrounding space near me. Since it's not a night club the musical content of the mix is chilled at the beginning and groovy at the end, though i like it deeper. Some of the tracks will definitely will make it to the next Cosmic Picnic podcast. Enjoy!
A selection of afterhours music played for friends on the 2nd night of our annual october event held high up in mountains (my wife's birthday). Chilled music kept us warm whole night in a very cold house. Everyone returned to Earth safely.
I'm still in search of perfect sound. This time it's number ten, a deeper dive inside myself, like i did in Vol.7.
A selection of music lived through and prepared during last months turned into personally long anticipated podcast №9. It will give you a glance of the atmosphere at Cosmic Picnic events held several times a year high up in the Alatau mountains, a party by friends for friends.
P.S. Use proper sound system and volume level in order to reach maximum effect.
2 hours of Almaty summer vibes during my last gig at Barmaglot Bar. A perfect preparty compilation.
It's been almost 2 years since i've recorded last Liquid Funk podcast. Nevertheless i haven't stopped collecting this music genre all those months. Here are some fresh tunes that sounded last sunday at a hight of 3200 meters above (Bar 3200 @ Shymbulak ski resort). Just imagine - bright sun, white snow, moutains and this music.
3 hour story based on personal experience, a deep dive into consciousness, a musical trip.
A 3 hour live set that i've played last weekend at Shymbulak Ski Resort. Starting from slow and melodic tunes then switching to funky & deep house grooves. A perfect situation for playing this kind of music - venue, people, lots of snow...
A dive into deepest depth of house and techno. Part of my 8 hour dj set at the best venue in the city, high in the mountains of Almaty...
5 hour mix after a while. This music will be played on the 2nd of july on Cosmic Picnic.
A mix recorded by Embliss for Cosmic Picnic Fest which will take place high up in the Alatau mountains of Kazakhstan on the 2nd of july. As a part of the music which will be played by him and other local djs.
I've recorded that mix 3 years ago but forgot to put it out. It's the first of Observatory series, a selection of cosmic music which should be percepted while eatching stars...
2 hour selection of our progressive-breaks all-time favourites. Almost all of these tracks have been played on a series of Cosmic PicNic events which took place high up in the Alatau mountains of Kazakhstan.
A compilation of tracks that would have sounded on the 3rd Cosmic PicNic if it would occure this year. I guess we will have to wait till next summer...
I've tried to put 17 years of djing into one 3-hour set. Ofcourse it does not reflect all musical preferences, but these tracks did bring lots of emotions. Progressive house & breaks classics. Though the music looks a bit fast for me now )
This mix was compiled a couple of years ago and put on the shelves of my collection untill my friend revealed it to me yesterday. A mixture of both up to date and classic tracks that were in my playlist for a while. So here you go...
First Liquid Funk podcast in 2014, and it's Volume14. Lot's of vocals, lot's of melody, lot's of groove. Starting from deep atmospheric sounds and finishing with funky jazzy grooves.
Some melodies and vocals at the beginning, chilled breakdown in the middle with some hard stuff in the end - essential sounds of intelligent drumandbass. I bet people who has been listening to 2step garage 15 years ago will like a couple of tracks - old school style! =)
After a while i get back to progressive. Missed these sounds. This podcasts includes our forthcoming release on Rune Recordings "I want to believe".
Favourite tunes of 2012 including our own 2 unreleased tracks.
The Wawawiwas - Letting eternnnity go B-Jam - Everyday Moonsoon Season feat. Miss Bee - Green on blue (Arsenii alternate mix) Lovelock - Burning feeling Satin Jackets - How long can i wait for you Lovelock - Maybe tonight (Morgan Geist vocal edit) Grant Nelson pres. Departure Lounge - Time ties Sleazy McQueen - I'm tired (Pete Herbert remix) Kris Menace pres. Stars on 33 - Something you can feel (Reverso 68 remix) Nicone - Why (Monte remix) Scandal - Just let me dance (Maxxi Soundsystem remix) Marius - Discomagnifique (Pete Herbert version) The Wawawiwas - Mia
Yet another compilation of my favourite sounds - vocal, melodic, groovy & atmospheric drum&bass.
Never before i used 7 tracks of the same artist in one mix. Here it is. Thank you Mr. Moore...
A poolside afterparty mix dedicated to all partypeople suffering from hangover*.
