I recorded this show almost two weeks ago and hadn't had a chance to upload it... finally! Sorry, I'm outa practice and the episode is rambly, at best.
Happy 2020! It's been a long time since the last episode so here's a little one for you.
This episode I talk a bit about going downtown to the new Truphae store just off Main Street. It's a really nice store with lots of fountain pens for sale. They have everything from cheap Jinhaos up to some fancy pens I'd be scared to even touch! The grand openning event was a lot of fun and felt a lot like a mini pen show. Woohoo!

These are my top 5 pens as of today (or yesterday really). They are presented in no real order but that 5th one... I dunno. Will it last? Probably not. I'm already having second thoughts!
This episode I briefly look at the new lovely Field Notes journals and especially focus on how their art is licensed from 59Parks.net. Also, a broken pen... my wife's Visconti Rembrandt!

I tried to mostly talk about Limited Edition pens (and inks). I also talked about chickens and curio cabinets.
I like brown inks. I at least like the idea of them. This long overdue episode (which was recorded about 2 weeks ago) has me getting annoyed at inks in general, thanks to my brown inks. Also, I talk a bit on the Raleigh Pen Show which was a long fun trip. I don't want to do it again :D
Spring is here and the weather is warming up. I decided to record on the way home.. that means no A/C and windows up... it got a bit warm in the car.

The Atlanta Pen Show is less than two weeks away. My mind turns to what I can get rid of then. They have a Pay it Forward table were you can leave or take stuff. I have a few inks I just don't need or maybe don't want. I'm planning on leaving some behind.

This is another book episode! This time, I briefly talk about a book I've been reading called Letters of the Century! It's a fascinating book that looks at the 20th century though some of the letters that were written in those hundred years.

February is International Correspondence Writing Month! It's time to get our your open and favorite stationery and get writing. The goal, if you accept this challenge, is to write AND send a correspondence a day for the entire month.

So this episode was recorded a few weeks ago but it's been some busy times lately. The idea here is you just got a pen for Christmas (already nearly a month ago) and don't know what to do about it. Hopefully, this episode is somewhat useful to those folks.

Last week, we took a trip up to visit the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. While there, we stopped at a fountain pen store called Origami Ink. What a neat place that was!
This time around I share my thoughts on limited edition pens. I kinda like them, I kinda don't but mostly I like them. Mmmmm. limited edition.
During this drive, I received two phone calls which I mostly edited out. This happened because I recorded while on the way to the vet, in the afternoon, instead of recording during my normal morning commute.
In this episode, I discuss a book, The Missing Ink: The Lost Art of Handwriting, by Philip Hensher. The book is a look at the history of handwriting and how it has evolved and also includes anecdotal information on handwriting from folks that actually write (or wrote) by hand. The book is fun to read and informative and was just what I was looking for when I wanted a better understanding of how handwriting evolved from Spencerian cursive to modern cursive. The short answer.. it's a long loopy path.
This episode I muse on how to keep a giant almanac like Anorak's Almanac from Ready Player One.

This episode is for the crafters! In it, I will explain how to make a leather notebook cover for your Field Notes notebooks. You'll need the following supplies...
Components
- 1 8.5x11 sheet of leather. You'll want a firm piece of leather, not some floppsy leather that won't hold it's shape.
- elastic cord ($5.99)
- a charm ($1.99-$5..99) Something decorative so you can always easily find which side is the front
- Foldover crimps or something to tie the ends of the cord together. This is optional if you can tie a good knot. ($2.99)
Tools
- 1 hole punch ($8.99) or an awl or something to poke holes with.
Story Supply Co. also makes and sells some very nice covers. If you don't want to make your own, you can get them for about $35.00.

In this episode I talk about ink saturation... or how much in on the market is too much ink. Also, I think the audio quality is "better" than the last few episodes. I did some adjustments on the post processing that made it clear but also a bit more tinny.
Vacation was great but I broke my Lamy Safari. I'm back and have inked up a few pens to store in my Galen leather case.
