January 19, 2023 44 year old Karl Freund is at the height of his career with a publicly traded real estate company with offices across the country, married to his twin flame and just settled into their new home ready to buy more. When WHAM a widow maker or STEMI heart attack his out of the blue. Karl who found out he had type 2 diabetes just a handful of years before took very good care of himself with the best trainers, doctors and practices. When he found himself at home thinking he was having a panic attack he hesitated almost 4 hours in which he lost almost his life. They were able to put a stint in the left where his resending artery was completely blocked and he found himself with a renewed vigor to see his legacy through even with just 31% of his heart left. November 23, 2020 at 1:33 in the Afternoon, Bryan Johnson, CEO of HomeOwner Magazine sent me a text asking if I wanted to Interview Tom Hatten at 11:00am the very next day. Tom Hatten is no ordinary corporate officer, this is our Valley's own Hero story. A man who took $2000 at the age of 22 and worked an ungodly amounts of hours to fulfill his dream of a local gym with the luxury feel. A true small business success story that grew right here in our back yard. Tom is an experiential expert on how to overcome and keep moving forward. Starting in 1991, his concept quickly expanded because his clubs offer so many levels of health and fitness yet at an affordable local price. More recently Tom Stood up to the shut down orders and fought for the right to keep gyms open. We all know the physical benefits of daily exercise yet, its the mental benefits that I am most interested in speaking to him about. He and I both had been affected by a loss to suicide and in these pandemic times, suicide rates are climbing. Not everyone can afford the high costs of anxiety treatments or therapist. In these tight restrictions the gym is at times, the only escape from home or work. A place to reset, to just think about your body and nothing else. A vital treatment that is very affordable and has shown to greatly reduce stress, anxiety and even ADHD. Exercise increases our confidence, improves blood flow and immunity and of course improves our sex life. So with less the 24 hours to plan, I studied the topics, grabbed my iPhone, a mic, laptop and a small tripod and RAN at the chance to speak to this great man. A Tale of Two Sisters. March 22, 2014, the largest landslide in history took place in Oso Washington and took 43 lives and 49 structures. Kristina and Laura Harris were just 24 and 22 years old at the time and were left without a home or their parents. Making matters worse, their cousin who came with them to assist, took his own life just 2 weeks later. Finally, after 29 days of searching and digging through the mud, their parents bodies were the last ones found.
Today Kritstina runs a succesful auto mechanic shop and Laura is my first, Tenacious Angel.

Mayor Lane also serves on the Scottsdale Leadership Advisory Board, Arizona Game and Fish Appointment Recommendation Board, he is a member of the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations and an Honorary Member of the Taliesin West Board of Stewards. Mayor Lane is also a member of the Municipal Tax Code commission.
