What came before Kings? Judges. At least in the Bible. This isn’t a history lesson it is a story about people. People want more than what they have. Which is cool until they get it. God’s people had judges. They were pretty good, but people got tired of being an ‘autonomous collective’ and asked God for a king. God was reluctant, but gave up at 2:37 on a Thursday when the whining wouldn’t stop. So Kings. Were they good? Meh. Until they got bad. And then the Anointed One came along. Wait, Jesus??? Nope. We marvel at the springtime flowers and trees as they bloom. It’s is a gorgeous time of year. Someone took time to plant those.
