In a similar way, where you come from can sometimes indicate your purpose, or reason for being. In this passage we look at the treaty made between Abimelech and Abraham. As Abraham and his family were sojourning we see the ruler of the land, Abimelech, seeking a peace treaty with Abraham as he has seen his power as God is on his side. We look at how God’s promise was not only evident to Abraham himself but also to those who witnessed Abraham and his family. We also look into the strength of relationship between Abraham and God and how Abraham continued to glorify God through this peace treaty once obtaining a Well that was previously taken from Abraham. Lastly, in the passage we reflect on God’s promises for us, reminding ourselves that our God is living and wants an intimate relationship with us just like Abraham and that we should draw near to God in whom we find our strength.

John returns to his discussion of light and so we delve into the concept and John's usage of the word light and how those who are believers and followers of Christ ought to live our lives based from this revealed light. In this episode we look at the story of the birth of Isaac, and how Abraham was 100 years old when given his promised child - Isaac, indicating he had to be patient to wait and depend on God and His perfect timing. Furthermore, Abraham’s continual obedience to God even after his blessing is a sign of submission, like a child to his father, as he and Sarah a year prior doubted God’s promise and power to provide them a son due to their old age. Lastly, we see the significance of Isaac’s name, which means ‘he laughs’ as God is the only One that gifts us true godly joy to laugh in situations that seem hopeless and desperate for us, but never impossible for God.
