Karl O'Connor is most certainly Regis, and it is also highly probable that he propagates other pseudonyms. Unconventional and single-minded to say the least (what label can boast a back catalogue free of the industry-standard cash cow remix) by decentralising the focus on the dj/producer personality, he remains one of the more highly regarded creative forces within the British techno/electronic scene. In this rare podcast, the UK producer presents a tribute mix featuring tracks and producers from the seminal Birmingham label, Network.

In 2016, DJ BORING, sent shockwaves through the underground when his track ‘Winona’ appeared on the iconic Slav Youtube channel. The track, comprised of simple, melodramatic chords, a syncopated 909 groove, and a sampled Winona Ryder interview, not only changed the landscape of house music but seemed to define dance music for a new generation. Since then, DJ BORING’s relocation from Melbourne to London has earned him a reputation as one of the most exciting artists of this generation. DJ BORING’s abilities as an artist are beyond simply being able to write clever melodies and stomping rhythms: his unique talent lies in knowing when to pull back on a dancefloor or when to go all-in.

Whiskey Houston is a dance floor authority. Her distinctive sound is born from a longstanding love of disco in all its incarnations; marked by her extensive knowledge and respect for its history and cultural roots. Disco, as Houston sees it, is a genre with many faces, in constant dialogue with its new beat, wave, techno and house derivatives. Cassettes For Kids hails from Melbourne and is best known for excursions into his deep crates filled with the sunniest cuts, deepest house and most joyous disco. Over the last two years the producer has seen his stocks rise via a manifesto which easily gets his message across: Forget about shit and just dance. The New Yorker/Berlin based Curses is known for blending his Rock & Roll roots with the darker side of disco and electro. In both his DJ and live sets. Curses incorporate his ghostly vocals and guitar with flashes of EBM, New Wave, Post-Punk, and psychedelic synth vibes. Releasing selectively on well respected underground labels such as Bordello A Parigi, Throne of Blood, Ombra INTL. and Relish, Curses also runs a Rinse France monthly radio residency showcasing artists who share a love for mixing wave and weird disco.

Cooper Saver is a Los Angeles based DJ and producer responsible for the Far Away party, cassette mixtape series, and radio show on Dublab. Over the last 7+ years, Cooper has consistently brought unique and underrated talent from abroad for his monthly late-night warehouse party while also regularly travelling around the world to DJ. As a producer, Cooper maintains a steady flow of remixes—recognized most for frequent remixes on DFA Records. Cooper’s original music has recently begun to surface on labels such as Permanent Vacation, ESP Institute, and Internasjonal—a growing collection of sounds influenced by his experiences as a DJ and many years spent on dance floors.

Tomas Krammer and Eden Burns of Sandboards are the New Zealand duo who sound like the descendants of the artists they admire, such as Chaos In The CBD and Bicep. Having DJed collaboratively for years, it's their original productions that have earned Sandboards international recognition, receiving support from Bradley Zero of Rhythm Section INTL record label and in 2016 releasing an EP under the notorious Feel My Bicep record label titled 'Visa'. Fresh from guest mixing on Rinse FM and releasing an accompanying EP titled 'Nights Over Taieri', Sandboards show no signs of slowing down.

Retiree is the musical project of three Sydney/ Melbourne mammals: Matt Crowley, Tori Holleman & Marco Vella. Over four summers they’ve steadily congealed their broad influences into a unique emulsion of strongly rhythmic and emotional music. Retiree have released two 12′′s both locally & internationally; Retiree EP (2013) on Plastic World followed by This Place EP (2015) on Rhythm Section International/Plastic World. Last year saw the release of the single ‘Jan’, which delved deeper into their tropical-pop production. Their live set throws all their keyboards, guitar pedals and woodblocks on stage, resulting in long-legged convulsing to a drum machine under honest lyrics.

From the Netherlands to the world, Marc Holstege is a musical prodigy in the genres of techno, progressive, melodic, and deep house. Starting as a piano player/percussionist at a young age, his love affair with dance music began in his teenage years, becoming a proficient disc jockey turned music producer. The driving influence behind his career? Turning shared emotions into an audible experience. At just 22 years old, Marc not only has wisdom beyond his years, but he has also released 2 EPs, most recently a 12" collaboration with Spanish musician EdOne who is a frequent name on the infamous Defected record label. Holstege has recently played stages such as Paradiso and Tivoli Vredenburg, and now he his set to make his Australian debut this summer.

A tastemaker, innovator, and a fearless creative, Toni Yotzi is considered one of the most promising DJ’s Australia has to offer. Originally from Perth, Toni Yotzi developed her own sonic signature co-hosting the Full Frequency radio segment on RTR FM. Later relocating to Melbourne, Yotzi quickly found her creative feet to become one of the city's key creatives. Her career highlights have seen her play at Inner Varnika and Golden Plains Festivals, and her most recent international endeavours have seen her do guest mixes for Red Light Radio in Amsterdam and the notorious Beats In Space institution in New York.

A music aficionado through and through, Merve has spent a fair share of her time within the music industry. Developing skills early in her career as a booker and artist manager, it didn’t take long for Merve to get behind the decks herself, gaining some serious traction with her infectious sets that encompass elements of house, funk, tribal and techno.
This earned her stage time alongside industry icons like The Black Madonna, and Motor City Drum Ensemble. Having played at some of Australia’s most iconic festivals such as Golden Plains, Strawberry Fields, and Let Them Eat Cake, Merve is certainly one of Melbourne’s most exciting rising stars.

Optimo are the duo JD Twitch and JG Wilkes. They each have over 20 years of DJ-ing experience and have become renowned and respected for their memorable and ecstatic sets. Twitch and Wilkes exhibit a unique disregard for genres and musical restrictions, creating a nightclub experience that strikes out into territories far beyond the accepted boundaries of club music.

Perc is one of modern electronic music’s reference points: an internationally touring DJ and live act, founder of the renown Perc Trax label and one of the most respected producers in techno today. From his earliest releases in 2002 to his current position as one of the most forward-thinking individuals in techno Perc (aka London based Ali Wells) has continued to challenge and innovate as his recognition has grown.
As a DJ Perc has taken his sound across the world to such seminal clubs as Berghain, Fabric, Ministry Of Sound, Cocoliche, Tresor, Fuse, Space Ibiza, Unit in Tokyo and to festivals including Awakenings, Mayday, Reaktor, Unsound, Soenda, 10 Days Off, Glastonbury, Extrema and many more. Needless to say, his fusion of bleeding-edge techno and classic noise and experimental influences have all coalesced to create one of the scene's most singular artists.

Mark Flynn AKA The Drifter hails from the picturesque seaside town of Greystones in County Wicklow, Ireland. An extraordinary number of electronic musicians have come from what is a relatively small geographical area with Mark being one of those shining lights. He arrived onto the scene with the “Lovers EP” in 2012 and although not necessarily as prolific as his peers when it comes to his original output, he makes his mark in many other ways.
Over the last year he started his excellent Cast Adrift Radio show on Dublin Digital Radio which really shows how invested he is in his art. Broadcasting genre-crossing adventures through a myriad of modern music, Cast Adrift is a great insight into how he feels and thinks about music. Production wise, remixes have become something Mark has really grown a talent for. Over the past year alone he has turned in 4 remixes for a variety of imprints, all met with solid and widespread acclaim. Mark also contributed to the Maeve compilation entitled Heavy Rotations Vol 1 – with his track “Three Words Max”, which turned out to be one of the most popular from the collection.
Mark is a founding member of the Maeve label along with close friends Mano Le Tough and Baikal – the imprint, born in Berlin in 2012, has steered a slow and steady course through the years, releasing highly thought out and interesting electronic music. The alchemy of three label heads is in itself what makes the label so special and sees it continue to garner support across the board. So looking to the future, its clear that Mark doesn’t intend on slowing down anytime soon. Original work will see the light of day in 2019 while continuing to tour both solo and with his label mates, bringing Maeve Showcases to all parts of the globe. Marks passion and enthusiasm for what he does is clear, this coupled with his infectious positivity, leaves you wondering what heights the Drifter could reach
