In the second part of our series through in a Study of 2 Corinthians 8-9 we look at testing the authenticity of our love!
In this sermon, we will be discussing how to trust God with his purpose and plans for your life!
Today we're talking about how we as a church can love the LGBTQ+ community. We look to God's Word to see how we can really just love people well. Let's look to Jesus together as we try our best to answer this question.
Have you been anxious or worried about what the world and culture has come to? Are you a parent wondering what your kids will grow up to be like? Are you trying to navigate being a good parent and sharing the love of Jesus with your kids? Let's turn to God's word together to hear how we can raise up our kids Jesus' way and not lose them to this worlds way of life.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
We talk about “Reaching the world for Jesus one person at a time.” We celebrate people getting baptized all the time, and we’re growing rapidly as a church body. Yet, the work God wants to do through us in the future makes everything He has done pale in comparison with what has already happened. Isn’t that incredible? Remember that Jesus said that the “Gates of hell won’t prevail against His church”? That means that we as a body of believers in Jesus not only can reach the world but will reach the world if we are willing to go all in with Jesus. And Satan is helpless and powerless to do a thing to stop us. Who isn’t excited about THAT prospect? Let’s be a church that defies Satan knowing that our battle is already won. Let’s be a church that goes into the roughest, most dangerous areas of our city because we know that darkness can never win against the light that Jesus’ church brings wherever it goes. Let’s be a church that refuses to give Satan an inch of progress in our lives, our church, our homes, our neighborhoods, and our workplaces. This is the picture of the church that Jesus gives!

The over-reaching of the church via politicking and aggressive language and behavior into the broken culture as a means of making a difference is a broken way of thinking and acting. We are to be light in the darkness – not fight the darkness with dark ways.
Let’s ask the right questions? How do we be light in a dark world? How do we make an impact? We want to change the world – we want to help people be free from brokenness and pain. We want to show the world a better way – Jesus’ way. That heart is amazing – we want to grow that heart – but we don’t want to fight for the things of God like the devil would fight.
Happy Father’s Day dads! We are so thankful for you and honor you. We celebrate you dads. We are in a series all about how Jesus is making all things new in our lives. Our relationship with him, within the church, in our homes…today we wrapping up the home sphere with a conversation about parenting. I love being a dad. I love my girls. So so much. I am excited to talk to you about parenting – I know we all have lots of different stories in here…some really amazing – some really painful. Today’s conversation is meant to be a inspiration for you to parent according to God’s design. There isn’t a ton in scripture about parenting – there is enough though for us to get a good sense of how we are to parent. Let’s dive in together today.
Many of us would probably agree that Jesus should be the center of certain aspects of our lives. But we often draw a line around certain parts of our lives where we don’t allow him to have that level of authority. Sometimes it’s just out of ignorance, and sometimes it’s intentional. One of the top places that we tend to do that is with our families. Our time together rarely involves Jesus, and many times our kids’ sports games or our family hobbies crowd out things like devotional time, going to church, or serving. If we look at our schedules and the way we use our time with our families, it becomes clear that Jesus isn’t really at the center of our families. This has led to things like similar divorce rates within the church as there are outside of the church; kids who are neglected and grow up with bitterness toward their “Christian” parents who really showed them a hollow version of Jesus; pornography addictions and affairs; and many other family-related issues that show what happens when Jesus is pushed out of the picture. Surely God intended better things for our families, right?
Let’s tackle a few small topics today – marriage and sexuality! Ha! I am only going to be able to lay a foundation for this conversation today. My wife and I have done some work on the practicality of this in our podcast if you haven’t listened to it…check it out. But today let’s lay the foundation Biblically for marriage and sexuality. The Bible speaks to this adventure in a powerful way. There are spiritual laws and designs that govern our families – when we live according to those designs we are blessed – when we step outside of those designs we experience the pain and destruction that is associated with doing things our own way.
We’ve always been passionate about the next generation being raised up and developed around here. But to actually believe in and invest in the next generation takes a heart for who is next and takes a passion for unity. 20 years separates us – there could be so many things that divide us. But God has done something special here. He has given us a passion for unity that supersedes our age and our preferences. Most churches get old as the leaders get old. The preferences of the older generation begin to create less and less room for the next generation to thrive. 66% of High School Students step away from their faith when they graduate High School. By having a passion for unity, we as a church can help change this statistic, but we have to make room for the next generation to not only grow, but to thrive!
Jesus is making all things new. There are several spheres of influence that we have as we go about life. As we follow Jesus, He begins to change us in every one of those areas. That’s what we have been talking about – we started this series talking about the first sphere – our abiding relationship with Jesus. Then last week Richie introduced us to the second sphere – the church. This is where we are going to pick up today. As followers of Jesus, we have been given a mission to reach this world for Jesus one person at a time. The primary way that we do this is by being in intentional relationships with the people around us – as we grow together in being and making disciples of Jesus. That word relationship is what can get us into trouble. Mostly from personal experience, we all bring our own definitions to what relationship looks like – most of which look totally different. Jesus’ church has always been and still is where we are supposed to learn how to be in intentional relationships with the people around us.
Why is the church here? What is the purpose of the church? Why do we need the church in our lives? How do we interact with the church? What is our role in the church? I wonder if we just attend and not think about some of these questions? I wonder if it would be important for us to spend a few minutes unpacking this conversation…I think it is actually essential to know what you believe and how you live within the church. When Paul wrote the book of Ephesians – he wrote more about the church than anything else. What a mess it could be – lots of different opinions and desires all colliding within the church. Who’s right? Wrong? What is God’s heart and plan? What does maturity look like within the church?
As a church, what kind of people are we going to be? The saddest Christian in the world is the one who only seeks God half-heartedly or casually. That person cannot enjoy sin anymore because they know it’s wrong but will not experience any of the joy and fulfillment of the gospel because they are not all in with Jesus. Remember Jeremiah’s statements? Those who seek God wholeheartedly will be in for the adventure of their lives. Those who are half-hearted and compromise will live a life of pain and separation from the goodness of God. When we look at the gospel, it is hard not to be moved by the goodness of God and hunger to know him better. The only way we will genuinely reach this world for Jesus one person at a time is by laying a foundation of faithful connection to God through day-in, day-out spiritual discipline. This world needs something real. They need SOMEONE real. They need Jesus. The more connected we are with him, the more people will see him shining through our lives. God loves you and wants to be in deep community with you. Will you create the space? Will you let him in?
We want to present all of us Mature in Christ. Each of us becoming who God made us to be. That is a process of transformation. Each of us are learning what it means to be mature in every area of our life. You see up here – there 5 spheres of life you walk through every day. Jesus, church, family, world, spiritual realm. Maturity is essential in each of these spheres. Today we are spending more time in this abiding sphere – your relationship with Jesus – everything flows from that – if you are immature there – everything else will be affected. He is the source of life and power to be transformed in every area of your life. Without his power – you have no hope to become who he made you to be.
A new thing. That is what we are talking about in this series. God has you here for a purpose. He wants you to know who you are and who He is. But there is a very big thing that keeps us from that – sin. Sin is everything that is against God’s plan for your life and it is toxic. Our sin can’t just be cleaned up. The world is selling a story of self-improvement. The Bible tells a story of total transformation from the inside out. A new way of thinking. A new way of doing. A new way of being. You were created with a purpose and to do good works in every area of your life. But before you can walk into those, you must learn how to abide in Jesus. And that starts with the death of the worldly way of living and the birth of a new life.
When we come to faith in Jesus – we bring all our brokenness and baggage – maturing is about leaving that behind and becoming someone new. All things are made new in Christ. If we don’t work out our salvation with fear and trembling – we risk staying in the same place as where Christ rescued us. Still wrestling in our broken ways. Are you becoming new in all areas of your life? Pursue, connect, give and multiply. Are you maturing in Christ? This is my heart in this message and in this whole series…are we becoming new? Are you allowing Jesus to transform every area of your life? We baptize so many people around here – we call us to get connected in a group – but maturity is isn’t just connection – it’s a whole process of every area of your life being transformed. We can’t accomplish this on a Sunday – we need conversations and relationships to help us mature this way. So let’s start the conversation on Sunday’s and allow you to work through this in your connections and relationships.
Happy Easter REALLIFE! We have hope and life because Jesus lives. We have freedom and expectation for God to move powerfully because He defeated the thing that separated us from Him - sin and death itself!
What we do when things are good, and God seems to be speaking and moving in profound ways, often reflects the depth of our faith and our intimacy with God. But everyone can be good when things seem good. The reality is that what we do when we DON’T hear God’s voice and have a hard time seeing his movement can actually be a more powerful testimony to God’s goodness and the strength of our faith.
It’s easy to follow Jesus when miracles are obviously happening around us, but it is a much greater act of worship to remain faithful and committed in the silence. God IS moving! Will we have the patience and faith to stay the course? Will we hold on to the hope that God is doing something incredible during the down time? Will we believe that salvation and the powerful work of God will burst forth in new creation when the time is ripe? We are God’s treasured possession, and he loves us very much. Let’s live like that is true, even through our own silent years!
In this episode, Richie walks us through the life of King Josiah, and how God may want us to reform areas of our lives.
God has entrusted you with a position of great influence. Can you see it? Are you aware that he has brought you to the crossroads of your world in the realms of your family, your neighborhood, your workplace, and many others? God has put you there because the darkness that is present in those places is no match for the light of Christ within you. Will you let him shine? Will you allow God to reach the world through you? Will you fight right, stewarding your crossroads well? God has used person after person through history who took this seriously to bring revival and salvation all over the world. He wants to do the same thing through us.
God wants to use your deserts to refine your character and to prepare you for what is coming next in your life. Will you run away from the desert, complain bitterly about it, reject God in the midst of it, or give up? Or will you trust him to lead you like a bride, knowing that if you trust his process of refinement you are going to be so much stronger spiritually, wiser, and more prepared for what is to come at the end of it?
God has called us. God is calling us to reach and invite people into his family and we are to be together with God to bring hope and restoration to the world. God is calling us beyond being the center of our own universe and seeing that we are a part of a miraculous story that has been moving through human history for centuries. We are a part of a rescue plan. God wants all his children rescued from sin and shame and brought back to right relationship with him.
Reaching the world for Jesus is not something that we have to figure out on our own. Our job is to walk with God one day at a time – trusting Him to guide us. Proverbs 3.5-6 NIV – Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Knowing that sin has affected every person that has ever been born compels us to spread the message of hope everywhere we go. That God has a plan to restore everything. As we go
about life, we will have the opportunity to show the people around us what God is like – to help them see where they fit into His story. This is WHY you were created – to be God’s image bearer and partner with him in this world. The rebellion of people was disastrous – no question about it. But God’s response is what gives us reason to hope. We don’t have to look any further than the cross to see just how much God loves us! And He has called us to partner with Him in His mission.
We long to be a church of impact. A people who actually see the world changed through us. We long to be a generous people. We are created with a purpose. We are called to love and see our city and our world changed through us. We have finances in our lives to be able to love and bless people with. I am so proud of you all for embracing this conversation. I believe God is turning our hearts toward him through this principal of Sowing and Reaping. I pray your heart is responsive.
We are going to talk about money today. Everyone’s favorite topic. In fact many of you invited friends to be with you – “oh great.” Ha! I know it makes us uncomfortable – but that is exactly why we need to talk about money. To make us more and more comfortable with God’s design for finance. We need to talk about it so we can be free from it. When we keep things in the dark they tend to own us. When difficult things are brought into the light – God has the opportunity to speak and direct and heal and transform. As long as we leave stuff in the dark – the enemy has the ability to control us through those things. I wonder though have you ever thought about money the way God thinks about money? Have you ever considered if you have God’s perspective of money? Do you know what God thinks about money? Jesus talks about money more than almost anything else. That means we should pay attention to what the Bible says about money.
We are empowered beyond what we can even comprehend. God WANTS to partner with us. He WANTS to perform his miracles through us by the power of his holy Spirit. He WANTS to bring glory to his name through our lives. He WANTS to reach the world for Jesus one person at a time through us. Will we commit to him? He is committed to us! Will we walk in the power of his Spirit?
We are a called people. God has gifted you for the assignment he has given you. Your confidence is not from your performance nor circumstances – rather from God himself. He is the one who called you and gifted you and loved you. He always equips those he calls. He will match you gifting with your calling perfectly. Move into that calling with confidence.
I believe God wants to grow your confidence in 2023. He wants you to see who you are and where you are amazing. God wants you to walk in your giftedness this year. When you believe you have been given amazing gifts and an amazing place in life – you steward it with a sense of responsibility and joy and tenacity.
We are loved so we can love others…we are not consumed with trying to find love for ourselves or get noticed – we have so much worth in the love of God. We are loved. Nothing is going to change that. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. As a church and a community we are so blessed by the love of God in our lives that we can’t help but want others to experience and know the same love that we are receiving. Jesus said freely you have received now freely give. We want to give this city, this world the same love that we are receiving from God in heaven. We are steady and confidently loving others. We are focused in this new year. God has called us by name. We are his.
Because Jesus came – your home has changed. You no longer are pressured to have the perfect family. The perfect kids. The perfect marriage. Jesus came to bring peace to your home. When you rest in his grace and mercy you can extend grace and mercy to those you love.
Because Jesus came – your life’s purpose has changed. You have purpose from Jesus. When he came – he brought with him a reason for your existence. A reason for your life. Purpose is powerful. Purpose fills our lives with peace.
Because Jesus came – your identity is changed. You no longer have to try to find your identity in what you do, what you have, what you achieve. You can have peace in your mind because Jesus has declared you are his child.
If you are a Christian, God’s Holy Spirit lives inside of you! Do you give His presence in your heart much thought? Do you know what to do with that?
Today Jesus as we come toward you – we come boldly. Show us how good you are. Make your grace known to us today. May we find our confidence in you Jesus. May we find our strength in you. May we find our holiness in you and you alone. Would you be here powerfully today as we enter into your presence.
God we long for you…we long for you to move in our midst in a powerful way. God we seek your presence. We seek to become a people who welcome your presence well.
Lord give us a heart for your presence – create a hunger in us to know your presence. To not settle for small and empty religion. Would you meet us here as we seek your manifest presence o God? We want to know you and your presence more and more.
We are becoming a people of faithfulness to Jesus and his kingdom. We want to hear these words – well done good and faithful servant. We give our lives away to see the next generation experience all God has made them to be. We are all standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us. We long to see the kingdom continue to the next generation. We will courageously give our all to see what God is doing us multiplied to those we lead.
Are we awake and ready? Looking out – or focused on ourselves? We are on a rescue mission – with the Spirit inside us we actually become a conduit of healing to people in our lives.
We should be a people who are overwhelmed by the grace we have received. A people who are gracious the way God is gracious with us. A people who are passionate about forgiveness in our lives. Setting people free. Walking in the freedom that Jesus has offered us.
We are becoming a place where the broken see they can be changed and healed too. A people of faith – who see the small seed as a picture of what COULD BE.
We want to be a people who are content with the Father’s leadership and care. The Holy Spirit is writing a story with us together as a church. He has a plan and purpose – we really won’t know the end of the story – we get to be in the story.
We are sowers of the seed. We are called and empowered to sow the seeds of the Gospel to this whole city – to this whole world!
We long to become a people of the party. A people who celebrate as Jesus brings more and more people into the feast. We long to be a people out there in the streets finding people who are willing. We are inviting. We are pursuing people passionately. We long to be a transformed people. A people who are being clothed in a garment of praise. Taking our garments of heaviness and exchanging them for garments of praise. A transformed people are a people who recognize our God can take anyone from anywhere and make them a new creation. That his church has always been a hospital for the hurting – not a country club for the already cleaned up.
Like a skilled master builder our hearts long to build on the foundation of Jesus. Build a house that will last. Build a people that will be able to endure the testing. Build a family that is built on the strength of Jesus’ kingdom.
No one thinks they are wealthy – No one thinks they are rich – yet our lives that are consumed with luxury and self-indulgence says we are. The seduction of wealth threatens to own us – yet I believe we can become stronger than that seduction.
Humility Is Freedom – when we are arrogant – we feel we are entitled to judgement…when arrogant we are bound by a self-determined course that we have no control over. Humility frees us from the judgement and boasting attached to pride.
We all experience competing desires with other people and within ourselves. Responding to those desires with humility and submission is what characterizes Jesus’ church.
We are a wise and understanding people. We are a people who sow peace in every relationship we have. Our influence is growing not shrinking. We are loving more. We are serving more. We are keeping people our priority in the place Jesus has given us. We have been called by God to reach this world for him. We believe that we are given this amazing family, school, workplace, neighborhood to see the kingdom advance in people’s hearts. We are where we are on purpose.
The tongue is a restless evil that God’s people learn to tame. Like a wild animal, our tongue must be brought under control so we don’t destroy the work of God.
Faith is incredibly important as a disciple of Jesus! But faith has to go far beyond mere mental assent to what is true. True faith will produce action and meaningful change in our lives. In fact, faith without those actions is actually dead.
Transformation is a process. Philippians 1.6 - Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. We don’t transform ourselves. That is the Spirit’s work. But here is our part. We keep pace with Jesus - that is when the burden is light. We make adjustments as he points them out. And we continue to love God and love people. Honestly, it doesn’t always make sense. But God works as we are obedient. Transformation comes through obedience.
Times are tough. The economy is crashing, gas prices are through the roof, political and global turmoil continues to spiral - in the middle of it, is it even possible to choose joy?
You come to know God by experience as you obey Him, and He accomplishes His work through you.
God is speaking to us like crazy – but because we are unwilling to make adjustments in our lives to go where he is working – we may miss out massively. Like the crisis of belief, the necessity of adjustment is a second point at which many people miss out on experiencing God. To get from where you are to where God is requires significant adjustments in your life. These adjustments may relate to your thinking, circumstances, relationships, commitments, action and beliefs. To move from your way of thinking or acting to God’s way of thinking or acting always requires fundamental adjustments. You can’t stay where you are and go with God.
There is a common belief that we can do our own thing AND still follow Jesus at the same time. That we can fit our idea of Jesus into the way we want to live. But a genuine encounter with God will always lead to a place that will require us to make a decision. That is His goal.
Question - how do you respond when God speaks to you? Let's become a people who seek to hear God's voice. A people that don’t settle for a notion about God – but diligently long for a relationship with God where he speaks. Where we hear. Where we are being moved by his promptings. It is a mystical thing – but a powerful thing. God wants to speak to you.
This conversation is all about becoming God-Centered in our lives. Most of us are living for ourselves not for God’s purposes. If we are going to experience God in our lives we have recognize his invitation to join him in his work.
God wants to know you, and He always takes the first step to initiate. Will you respond?
In a time that has been so hopeless - Jesus’ people rise up and bring hope to everyone we know. This Easter is a moment for us to lock our hearts into the hope we have in Jesus - no matter what this world throws at us - our hope will not be shaken. Our hope is for this whole world. We commit Jesus to bring this hope to everyone we know!
Jesus’ church has endured because Jesus’ people have allowed Jesus to affect their ordinary work moments. We have not allowed sacred and secular to become a divide. It is all God’s. We are his wherever we are.
Jesus’ church has endured as people sought to obey what Scripture teaches. Even when people have taken extreme stances that have led to problems, when people have a heart to hear the Word and do it, they are changed. People become stronger which leads to a strong church.
The danger of our time is to hole up and insulate ourselves - meeting our own needs and taking care of only ourselves. The church of the 4th, 5th and 6th century was struggling the same way. 536 AD was the most difficult year in recorded history. The dark age - tribal invasions and drop in Roman population- plagues 536- volcanoes in the north - meteor strikes Australia- worst year in world history 536. Half the earth was literally covered by smoke and ash and the sky was dark for over 6 months. 2020 was not the worst year in history. 536 wins still.
If we get stuck retreating into insulation we will not be a strong and enduring people. This will kill the church. Kill your faith. Kill the chance for us to become an enduring people.
The 4th Century popularity of Christianity because of Constantine’s normalization of Christianity - gave way to a massive dilution of the way of Jesus. The reaction was the monastic movement. The isolation and separation eventually gave way to a desire to help others re-discover or discover true devotion to Jesus in such a polluted world. This transition deeply impacted the church and created a strength of Jesus’ people and Jesus’ church that has carried us to today.
There has always been a process for followers of Jesus to grow. No matter what discipline we are talking about, there can always be a temptation to get comfortable and for maturity to become a program. Being a disciple who is being discipled has always been an important piece to maintaining the integrity of Jesus’ church.
Jesus commissioned His disciples to continue His work of making disciples before He ascended into heaven. These disciples became the first leaders of the church. However, according to church tradition all but one of these disciples had his life cut short. Peter, the first overall leaders of the church, was crucified upside down in Rome by the Emperor Nero. Paul, who wrote much of the New Testament, was also killed by Nero. Thomas was speared through in India. Matthew was stabbed in Ethiopia. James the son of Alphaeus was clubbed to death. Every one of Jesus’ disciples except for John was killed for the sake of Jesus. This presents a problem, though: Who would lead the church if all of Jesus’ original followers were gone? Who would pass on the teachings of Jesus to the next generation of Christians?
Obedience and adherence to the Scripture has sustained Jesus’ church.
A strong church comes from strong people who are anchored in unity under the authority of scripture.
Who is this Jesus? The uniqueness of Jesus.
A certainty of who Jesus has held the church fast in a culture that is swirling.
Identity is everything. Doubts and discouragement and depression are just a few moments away constantly. It seems like everything can be fine…then all of a sudden - I hate everything. I wanna quit. I wanna do something different. I wanna start over. This is part of our new reality. When all hell breaks loose am I strong in my identity? Do I know who I am because of Jesus? Can you and I break these kinds of cycles in our hearts and minds? Can we re-center our hearts and minds?
Our hope is in Jesus. In the unstoppable nature of his church. His church has endured so many difficulties. His people have stayed steadfast through so much.
Obey God’s design in tithing - FREEDOM requires FAITH
It is for Freedom that we have been set free - how to walk in that freedom is something we need to talk about. This is our last week in this conversation - I really believe God wants us to be free from the love of money. Last week we talked about contentment - today I want to talk about the tithe. Tithing is the weapon we wield in combat of the love of money.
Don’t spend too much - the discipline of staying within boundaries
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
God created us to serve and give of our lives for the benefit of His kingdom and other people. We are each created uniquely, with gifts and talents that the body needs. We are chosen by God to have a role in His kingdom!
You are free! You are called! You are being empowered if you have God’s spirit inside you. When you put your faith in Jesus you are filled with his Spirit.
It's a simple invitation. God’s heart above all other loves. God’s plan above all other desires. God’s people above all other pursuits. God above all. Jesus above all. A people radically sold out to Jesus. A people set apart for his purpose. A people God can lead. A humble people. A people filled with awe at who our God is. Are you in?
The good news of great joy that the Savior has come is only good news to those that need to be saved - all of us! The Savior has come, BUT He is looking for those who recognize Him with humility - and recognize that they need to be saved. How about you? Do you need saving? This is the good news of Christmas, that the Savior has been born, so we can have hope, healing, and reconciliation with the Father because Jesus took upon Himself the punishment for our sin. The good news of great joy that will be for all people is the Gospel!!

Numbers 6.24-26 NIV - “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” ’
May His favor be upon you, And a thousand generations, And your family and your children, And their children, and their children, May His presence go before you, And behind you, and beside you, All around you, and within you, He is with you, In the morning, in the evening, In your coming, and your going, In your weeping, and rejoicing, He is for you.
We often lose joy when we are faced with our inadequacies - but the Christmas story is a story of imperfect people being used by a perfect God to accomplish his eternal purposes. There are no stories other than the broken being used to bring healing. Great Joy is an invitation to take yourself out of the center of the universe and see who God is - your inadequacy will always be there. But God’s goodness is so much better! This is a season of faith. A season of believing God is going to get glory as we are used by him. As his story moves forward. As his grace is poured out.
Fear drives us to dark places. Fear drives us to dark thoughts. Fear drives us to survive and not thrive. Fear drives many people around us right now to dark things. Fear is a master that no one can survive. Serving Fear destroys us. As Jesus’ people we are called to find Great Joy and bring Great Joy to those trapped in fear. That’s a huge part of this conversation today - there are people you love trapped by fear. How do you help them?
