The "Why not me? I can do that with enough time. I'll make it work. I'll find a way" attitude represents Braxen to the core. An entrepreneur and hunter, Braxen has recently quit his job and started shooting bows and making content to earn an income. In conjunction to that we discuss his last hunt in January where he went on a once in lifetime hunt to Idaho to chase Bison. It was a grueling hunt with many ups and downs, but he clearly eventually prevailed. Again he will "find a way". Find Braxen at @Haxenhunt across all the socials. Hope you enjoy!! Thanks,

Before you get up in arms, listen to the podcast ----- Walleyes, Pike, and Lake Trout are now spearable in parts of Michigan. Previously only rough fish, carp, sheephead, gar, suckers etc were only spearable. This rule change came about as Jon and the Michigan Spearfishing Association put together a logical management plan to allow spearfisherman the ability to harvest more table worthy fish in areas that already have fishing seasons. We answer MANY of the concerns people have in this podcast such as ruining the resource, overharvest, illegal harvest, other angler conflicts etc. Either way, spearfishing these gamefish is far more difficult than you think and another great opportunity added for anglers to get out and try a new method of take to put food on the table. I talk about what I've found to be my top priorities when looking at new public ground and understanding if, when, and how I'm going to sit these pieces. It seems you can never have too many hunting spots and we are all limited on time, so having multiple options every time you go out is never a bad idea. Hope this helps some of you narrow your focus to just what matters!

Taking a break from hunting to dive into more of a life topic surrounding Progression. Happiness is the end goal, and to me I have to progress in work, life, money, and hunting to have happiness. Join the archery shoot on June 11th! Email me at hellera90@gmail.com --- Today I walk through a Turkey that I Spot and Stalked and all the tactics and tips that helped me make this happen. I share how I drastically reduced my anxiety and stress while being more "successful" in life by taking on more personal responsibility for my health, financials, and hunting. Apologize for the coughs in this one, Matt was about 3 weeks into the Rona and just couldn't kick the cough and Grandpa's Cough Syrup just wasn't doing the trick.

Part 2 on food plots with Jake Hendrickson. Montana is trying to reduce non-resident DIY hunts and California is trying to take away remove bear hunting. Hunting in general is under attack by the "affluent" in this country (hypocrites who just kill animals with their credit cards rather than their bows, traps, or guns) and we need to get better at bringing more people into hunting and making a good name for ourselves to those who don't. Matt's book is called "Billy Goes Hunting" and was inspired by a true story of his daughters getting bullied in Washington DC because their dad hunted. Definitely check it out today on Amazon, but first check your local book store. Support the little guys. Thanks!

Matt Spets (DeerNerd) is a hunting land consultant. He leases land all over the Midwest, consults and hunts all over the Midwest, and has dozens upon dozens of successes and failures through himself and his clients to draw from. His stratagies are a bit "old school", but they are clearly extremely effective and he has the pictures to prove it. I always enjoy talking to Matt and I always learn a lot from him. Hope you do too! These are general questions we cover in this podcast. We are not professional arrow builders and archers, but we do have enough knowledge get most people started on the right track. From there tinker as you will, if you have the time. Hope you enjoy it!
Vince Battiata - or @ChasingPublic - recently got back into hunting whitetail deer. He started with Archery gear 3 years ago and loves it. Hope you enjoy!

Hope you enjoy!

Hope this is helpful! Find Karta Maps at https://www.kartamaps.com/ .

Solo today discussing late-late season as bow season in Wisconsin goes until January 31st, managing the habitat and the work that will go into the property this coming spring, and a whole new bow set up. All the things that are currently on my mind. Hope these relate to you and you find some value in this cast.
Hunting Whitetails in Montana seems like a far off idea when Elk and Mule Deer are the most talk about targets, but with a combination tag where you can either shoot a mule deer or a whitetail, Montana can be a phenomenal state for spot and stalking big bucks of either species. Recently Dylan Dowson of OnX Maps harvested a great buck along with a few other guys who also got great bucks and he shared his story, their strategy, and what he thinks led to their success. Hope you enjoy it!
Grant has hunted for years on his in-laws property with tons of trail camera pictures but no big buck success. this year on December 14th, he finally was able to fill his archery tag on a STUD 11 point. The buck has yet to be aged and scored, but regardless the buck is a giant. We hear the story, and then we re-engineer the successes and failures and hopefully you are able to learn something from our conversation. I sure know I did.
Nick has killed 2 great bucks on Public land in the last 2 years out of the same tree. We discuss this area, what makes it good, how he sets up in it, and how to avoid pressure. It's a great podcast with lots of laughs, jokes, and of course some good deer hunting information. Hope you enjoy!
Talking with Jan (pronounced Yaann) at Aerohunter about what a saddle is, why would you switch, and if it's safe or not. We then dive into late season deer hunting, and some whitetail hunting stories from the 2019 season so far.
Solo today discussing the late season, effective hunting strategies, and how to stay warm in the frigid weather. In many ways the late season parallels the early season in the fact that finding food sources and hunting evenings is the way to go, but the big piece is that the food sources have changed and so have the bedding areas. Deer generally can bed about anywhere in the early season, but have very limited bedding in the late season. This bedding will dictate deer travel routes, daytime activity, and food source selection.
We discuss the Rut, Gun Season, and Late Season hunting tactics. - Breaking Point TV is a great group of guys that spend individually 120-150 days afield every year. Their insight on deer movement and how to target them during different times of the year is valuable information to know. THey are in their 7th season of producting a TV show that is free on Youtube, Facebook, Waypoint TV, and Carbon TV. They also share insight on the hunting industry, how they came up, and what it takes. Hope you enjoy and as always find me on Instagram or facebook and drop me a line if you have questions or comments. Hunt Hard, Hunt Smart. Thanks!
Clay Utzig has killed 2 mature bucks in 2019 already and he killed both of them by Oct 31st! One on Public Land, one on a 4 acre private piece of land. We hear his story and then breakdown how he got to those points and find out how other people can benefit from his experiences. Thanks for listening and please provide any feedback you'd like via instagram - Deervane or if you want to find Clay his handle is "WtrBoy"
We discuss hunting the rut and where to sit all day. It's tough and you are always second guessing yourself, should I move? Should I stay? We discuss that and a few other topics in this podcast and hopefully it will give you a bit more insight as to what to do during the rut if you're a bit lost. Thanks for listening and appreciate any and all comments!
With the Pre Rut in full swing, it's about to become very exciting in the deer hunting woods. Scrapes are a deer hot spot now, and pinch points, funnels, or travel routes from one bedding area to the next will soon become the best places to spend that all day sit. Hope this episode helps some of you with ideas and thoughts on where to sit and ultimately gets you an opportunity at a great buck.
Jake Dailey and I discuss why we hunt, the importance of hunting, and what it means to us. If you've ever wondered why anyone would hunt or you are looking in yourself as to why you personally hunt, this would be a great episode to listen to.
Deer Scrapes are a great resource for me to gather a lot of information as well as kill a any deer from young does to old giant bucks during the Pre Rut phases. However, not all scrapes are equal. Some are frequented 15 times a day and some are only frequented 1 time a day. In this episode, we discuss the generals about scrapes as well as how to take advantage of them.
It's a long one, but full of very informational content. This is a podcast covering just about everything that happens in October for Deer hunting. If you're having trouble getting on deer, this podcast can really help, and give you some ideas for the future.
Please rate and review if you enjoyed the podcast and found it informative. Share with your friends, and check out instagram and facebook as I upload there more often.
Thanks!
Satellite or E Scouting for deer hunting is very popular and for good reason. It can be extremely effective and helpfulul in breaking down a new piece. In this episode, I try to give you a few ways to e-scout for deer that can be helpful and also ramble on with some random tips and tricks I use to hunt different/new areas, and strategies to hunt those areas as well. I ramble a bit and I'm sorry for that, but as thoughts come in to my mind, and I think they will be helfpul for you, I have to spit them out. Thanks for the listen and hope you find some value in here!
This podcast covers hunting tactics between Late September and Mid October. This time frame is a great time to try some new tactics, abandon your common food source / field edge hunting tactics and get in the woods to find some elusive and secluded whitetails. We cover hunting tactics for natural food sources, large trails, bedding areas, pinch points/funnels, and early opening scrapes. These can be extremely effective when the typical early season ag food sources such as soy beans dry up and become undesirable.
I discuss the different types of treestands - Ladder, Climber, Hang Ons, and Tree-Saddles, and their pros and cons. They all have different uses and places it just depends on your scenario and what you're comfortable with. We also touch on make shift ground blinds and the perfect chair for ground blinds. Deer hunting can be done in many ways, and I know as a beginner hunter I always questioned which treestand was the "best" but in reality I never knew it was just all situational. Hope the podcast helps you with your decision making!
This podcast covers thoughts on how to hunt whitetail deer in the early season from early September to early October. Hunting over food sources is your best way to go and getting as close as you can to the bedding areas greatly improves your odds.
A list with explanations for summer activities that can help you be more successful this coming deer hunting season. Also I discuss what DeerVane is and what listening to this podcast will bring you.
