It's important to focus on mental health all the time but especially now. My therapy sessions have moved to FaceTime, which isn't the same but it's better than nothing. How are you on social media? Do you think about your brand? Do you think about how you are perceived? I think we all do, right? But wouldn't it be interesting if the access was unfiltered? Especially now. On the one hand, I totally don't want to see how anyone is living. On the other hand, it's fascinating. Even the little peeks into people's homes during Zoom conference calls are intriguing. Look who has a lot of artwork on his walls! I position my camera so it shows as little as possible because I'm a private person, kinda. I'm public in that I podcast and blog and stuff but I also don't want to show everybody everything about me. Today's guest is the talented comedian Mae Planert.

What's your preferred source of news? I go with the New York Times, because they're the paper of record (it's a thing, look it up) and I'm a subscriber, althoug now you can get it for free even you're not (THANKS A LOT NEW YORK TIMES but seriously thank you because people need news but what the hell am I paying for anyway?). But today I re-discovered the New York Post. I'm not saying it's the best source of news but it may be the most interesting, or at least the most ZOMFG WHAT IS THAT ARTICLE JESUS. Stuff like "Influencer who licked toilet seat wants to cough on Dr. Phil." That's a real headline! I love it, I hate it, I love it. Today's guest is the very funny Rebecca Kaplan.

View Details

You know what's impressive about me? I've only eaten one cookie a day since this all started. OK, maybe there was a day when I had two. But that's it. Seriously, aren't you impressed by me? I'm impressed by me. It's not easy to exhibit self-control while the world is on fire. I'm not saying my eating has been perfect. I'm definitely eating a decent amount. The other day I lost two pounds. But don't worry, I found them. Thank you! I'll be here all week! Literally! Today we talk NFL free agency with Reuben Wolf and Dan Zisson.

View Details

Today I leaned that too much beard is too much. I had to shave. It was getting to me. By which I mean my mustache hairs were getting into my mouth. I could've just trimmed but (a) I don't have a trimmer and (b) traditionally I go all or nothing. So now I will start again. That's kind of how hair growth works, except for on the top of my head. I still have a little on the sides though. This is what I think about when I'm stuck at home. Today's guest is the very funny Danny Suggs.

View Details

We generally don't get political on this show but we did the other day. Thing is, how do you NOT get political in these days? We're told not to politicize the virus. The virus has no party. The virus ain't no disco. The virus definitely ain't foolin' around. So far we've had great comedians and we will probably expand to have other folks on because why not? It's about good talk and that's what we need right now. Today's guest is comedian Lucas Connolly.

Feelings, nothing more than feelings, trying to forget my feelings of love... feelings of what it was like to go outside... Rememberig the sun... oh the beautiful sun... or the rain... I don't realy care at this point I just want to go outside.......

Today's guest is the very funny Ben Kirschenbaum.

We're still inside. At least we're supposed to be. Some people are not inside and that's not what we're supposed to be doing. I was always a guy who didn't follow instructions and now I'm the guy who listens to authority. But Brett. Weren't you SO punk rock? I was. I still am! I wash my hands while singing Nazi Punks F*ck Off. The first two bars are 20 seconds in case you're curious. But I want to do what's right and as far as I can tell what's right is staying inside. Whether you agree or not, tune in! Today's guest is the very talented Olga Namer.

View Details

I'm setting these up in advance so maybe by the time you read this they will have found a cure for COVID-19! No they won't. This is wishful thinking, Brett. You need to stop doing that. You have to practice radical acceptance and deal with things as they are. AS. THEY. ARE. Oy. This sucks but it got me to do a daily radio show and that's something I've always wanted so what the hell? Why not enjoy it for what it is? This show is the highlight of my day, other than dinner with my beautiful family (see what I did there)? Today's guest is my friend and comic colleague Craig Lottner.

View Details

OH MY GOD how many days has it been? Has it been 5? Has it been 10? Did we ever go outside? Have I ever done a comedy show? It seems like it was so long ago, and yet... it really wasn't. I'm not losing my mind yet but it could happen! It could happen ON THE AIR! You don't know! So you'd better listen in. Today's guest is the very funny Leonarda Jonie.

We're still here and by "here" we mean our apartment. That's where we all are unless we're essential and Mike Lee is that. Why? Because in addition to being a comedian, Mike is a nurse. Tune in to hear what's really going on at the hospital. Mike is very funny but COVID-19 is very serious so let's hear what he says to say. Tune in!

ZOMG we're still inside? What the hell is going on? I can't watch the news, I must watch the news. I watch a lot of news. I'm on Facebook constantly. Connection! It's all about maintaining connections in these difficult times. Today we talk to comedian Josh Postel. Tune in!

View Details

OMG this is so weird. Seriously, what are we even doing at this point? I'm writing this on Tuesday and for all I know we've been even more shut in by now. Let's stay connected by talking to each other because that's what we have to do! Connect! Today's guest is the very funny Lindsey Barnes. I'll ask her questions and she'll answer them. You can even call in and talk to us. Take that, coronavirus!

View Details

It's getting hectic out there... actually no it isn't. It's the opposite of hectic, except at the grocery store. I'm about to go out and buy more alcohol because that's what we do now. We drink and we know things. Well, we try to know things. We're pretty good at drinking. Today's guest is the founder of F Comedy Club, Felicia Madison. She's great and we're thrilled she's joining us. Tune in!

Let's do this every day! Seriously, it's a highlight of MY day and I hope it will become part of yours as well. Shelter in place? What the hell is that? Let's talk about it! Today's guest is the hilarious Adam Muller.

I'm writing this on 3/16 and honestly, things could be different by the time you read this. I don't mean that to be ominous, but things are happening pretty quickly out there. In here, we're homebound and trying to keep up the good fight by making radio and podcasts and comedy and anything else. Hell, I support the making of macaroni art if that's your thing. Today's guest is my old friend Dan Zisson. Let's get through this together!

We're still trapped at home, and are even more trapped because De Blasio closed the bars and restaurants. Holy crap! This is real! Well, we knew it was real. I'm going to keep broadcasting because a) it's fun and b) I need something to do. Today's guest is comedian Arielle Dundas. Call in!

It's always fun to talk to people you know and find out stuff you didn't know about them. Also fun to explore more in depth stuff you already know about them. "All around entertainment mammal" Dan Zisson joins Brett to talk about opera (yes, really), movie fighting, writing movies, and probably more. Tune in!

What happens when a comedian is attacked during his set? Yes, that happened, last night, and we're here to tell you all about it. Steven Cohen joins Brett Singer on the air for a live show!

Today Brett talks about movies, specifically "Rocky" (I-V, or one through five for those who don't do Roman numerals), and also "Creed" (great movie) and "Black Panther", beacuse everyone has to talk about "Black Panther" - it's awesome. More to come. Enjoy!

View Details

Today I talk about Tom Brady (don't worry, non-sports fans, it'll be quick), the folly of New Year's resolutions (I'm not a fan) and two current creepy creepos - Barry Lubin, aka Grandma, from the Big Apple Circus, and Gordon Edelstein from the Long Wharf Theater. Also, the creepiest creep of them all - Larry Nassar, the vile USA Gymnastics doctor. Plus a few words about the soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" (it fits!) and whatever else is on my mind.

Today, on my final podcast before 2018 (unless I do another one), I discuss Lin-Manuel Miranda's lastest project, Hamildrops, which is songs inspired by, sometimes loosely, by his mega-hit musical Hamilton (perhaps you've heard of it). The first is a song called "Ben Franklin" by The Decemberists. Listen to it, it's good. Yes, Christmas came and went... but so did Festivus! There must be grievances, and said grievances must be aired. And I will air them! (One could argue that every podcast I do features the airing of grievances, but this time I can claim it's tied to a holiday. Sort of.) Also, Star Wars, because isn't it all about Star Wars? Plus something weird happens when I mention Jesus imagery in movies. Seriously, it was really weird. You have to listen to find out what I'm talking about. Happy New Year everyone!

View Details

There's a lot of things going on in the world and I talk about very few of them today. War on Christmas - NOT A THING. Ed Sheeran? Kind of a thing! Not a huge fan of the latter but I don't hate him and there was an article in the New York Times about how he and others wrote the song "Shape of You" and it made me think of stuff. As for Marvel and DC movies, I want them both to be good. Why? Cuz I'm gonna see them no matter what. And I want to know what your Movie Binkie is. What's a Movie Binkie? Listen and find out. Hit me up on Twitter. Happy holidays. AND Merry Christmas! Happy everything! Peace to all humans!

I'm back. Brett Singer is back. The podcast is now a podcast. It was live and now it's still live but pre-recorded and unedited. Give it a listen and give me feedback or just listen. Really it's about listening. Rock on.

NOTE: Something happened towards the end and some words were cut out. I don't know why. The podcasts I was talking about that I liked is Marc Maron's WTF Podcast, and the guest I thought was so great is Jay Baruchel. The story about President Obama and the preacher sounds REALLY BAD and I may have to fix it. If anything doesn't make sense because of the drop outs, let me know. Thanks.

Guess what? It's election day. You need to vote. It's important. Also on today's show: I tell jokes, stories, and maybe even play music if I need a break from blabbing. Call in, check the chat room, come over and hit me with a whiffle ball bat... whatever works for you. We are a full service radio program.

Remember when I said I was back? I am. Today is Halloween and I need to get on the air. Not because it's Halloween, although that is a great excuse to go live. Topics today include: a guy who threw a dildo onto the field during the New England Patriots game (really), rumors that gay people are lacing Halloween candy with drugs that make children gay (yes, also really), and a political ad warning of the dangers of marijuana legalisation from this decade (again — yes, really). Maybe I'll get to some past personal Halloween stories, one in particularly that's pretty damn scary. And I'm going to play a little music. Mostly there will be talking. Call in, check the chat room, and above all — you be you, and I'll be me. Isn't that what the kids are saying these days?

Join us, and by us I mean me.

Wanted to get in a show before the end of the world. Sorry, I mean Election Day. Why is Election Day the end of the world? You'll have to listen to find out. Also: Sandy, the marathon, the mayor, Whole Foods, Elmo's coconuts, and a bunch of other stuff. Check it out.

Note: I keep changing the time of the show because of external events. This time the reason is because I'm going to the Samsung press conference and it may go longer than I thought. I'll tell you what's up when I get on the air.

I'd be lying if I said I had a specific plan for today's show. So let's try it out: "I have a specific plan for today's show." See what I did there? Honestly, I have reams of notes, mountains of news stories, and endless links that I have saved because I felt a need to discuss them on the air. I promise you this: before I begin the show, I will pick some of these topics and prepare them for your lucky ears. In other words, I won't be completely winging it. Tune in, won't you?

Sunday is Father's Day. Today I'm going to talk about how to show your kids to stand up for themselves without letting them think that it's OK to yell at people. I tend to be a pain in the ass when it comes to customer service people, not because I like arguing, because I can't stand getting jerked around. Speaking of being jerked around, I'll share with you my personal collection of Anthony Weiner jokes (bandwagon, anyone?), and also tell you why I hate politics.

Getting back to Father's Day, our friend Christine Coppa interviewed Adrian Grenier from Entourage about his new movie A Shot In The Dark, which is about him looking for his dad. Hits home for her, and me too. Also: what is the right age to let your kids watch videos on YouTube?

After that, who knows? I like talking. Call in, jump in the chat room, just don't tweet me a picture of your junk. I'm not interested.

Governor Walker's actions in Wisconsin have ignited a protest movement that no one could have predicted. Police estimate that over 100,000 people attended a rally at the Wisconsin State Capitol building on Saturday March 12. Today we will speak to a parent who became involved in the protests because many of the state employees that the Governor is attacking are teachers. If you want to know what's really happening in Wisconsin, tune in Monday at 3:30pm EST (2:30pm Wisconsin time).

Did you know that the US Government helped Domino's figure out how to get more cheese into their pizzas, while at the same time telling people to eat less fatty foods -- like, oh, I don't know... CHEESE?!? Big story in the New York Times, and we're talking about it. Also: why the Tea Party isn't really a party, why Arnold Schwarzenegger probably wasn't such a bad governor despite what people say, and anything else we have time for. Call in!

My guest today is Nathan Rabin of The AV Club, author of the new book My Year of Flops, which Patton Oswalt called " Truly brilliant...like watching a genius nurse a score of frightened, wounded baby birds back to life--a superhuman level of care and compassion lavished on That Which Never Had A Right To Exist." We'll discuss the book, the nature of criticism, and why on Earth anyone ever thought making the movie 'Delgo' was a good idea.

Everybody wants to be cool. When did this start? James Dean? Earlier? Were there cavemen who tried to impress cavewomen with their designer woolly mammoth jackets? Today I'll talk about how everyone wants to be cool, including WikiLeaker Julian Assange and alleged blood diamond accepter Naomi Campbell, who testified at the Hague this week. Campbell succeeded in barring the media from taping her testimony, so I'll read some of her words, and imagine what else she might have said. (By that I mean I'll make stuff up in a funny accent.) Also: Brands are not people, despite what marketing nitwits say. And much more! Tune in.

There are real life superheroes among us. No. Really. There are. They have an acronym - RLSH. They have web sites. I'm fascinated by these people, and you will be too. Also: Many stories have been told this week about George Steinbrenner, but one that I haven't seen mentioned is the saga of Steve Swindal, the moron who divorced the beautiful and beguiling Jennifer Steinbrenner, daughter of George. We'll remember Steve on the show today. Also on the docket: another stupid poll proves absolutely nothing, and some of my favorite comments found online. PLUS: the infamous Mel Gibson tapes are fake, and we have proof! Listen and be amazed.

This week I'm joined by Jeanne Sager. We're going to talk about journalism - Joe McGuinness, the guy who moved in next to Sarah Palin and is writing a book about the former Alaska governor, and M.I.A., who got so mad about an article about her in the New York Times magazine that she tweeted writer Lynn Hirschberg's phone number. The Times then admitted that some of the quotes may have been taken out of context, and it turns out that the infamous truffle fries were ordered by Lynn Hirschberg and NOT by M.I.A. That's right people -- truffle fries. It's come to this. Also: Helen Thomas hates the Jews, but doesn't everybody? And more! Tune in.

Let's see if we can get through a show without mentioning Star Trek. Probably not. Maybe I'll do an over/under on how many minutes until somebody starts talking Trek. Not sure if I would take that bet, frankly.

Gary Coleman, Rod Blagojevich, James Cameron and Kevin Costner - none of them will be my guests, but I'll talk about them all. Remember the episode of Diff'rent Strokes where Arnold wanted to have a Bar Mitzvah, but Milton Berle told him how tough it was to be a Jew? No? I do. Tune in tomorrow to see what the hell I'm talking about.

We'll also discuss the crisis in Haiti and what it has to do with breast-feeding (really) if time permits. At 1pm, we will follow the launch of the mythical Apple Tablet LIVE, as it happens. Odds are we will mock it. But that doesn't mean we don't want one. Madeline Holler (Babble.com) is scheduled to call in. Tune in!
